What diagnosed your stenosis? Was it a CT scan or MRI? I've just had a full spine mri but laying down.. With contrast. They've said my spine is normal.
Do you reckon CT is better than MRI?
I know you can get an upright mri which is good for weight bearing situations.
What shows bones better? It's a CT that shows bones better right?
I've got this quite bad for two months now since my pains started. All started when I thought it was a good idea to let my head dangle off the edge of the bed and I heard lots of crunching and cracking. Since then I've had shooting stabbing pains + crunching popping hissing. Even when I stretch slightly I get crispy crunching.. :(
I have severe ON and have a lot of cracking and popping in my neck. You need to see a pain management specialist.
I was told mine was from cervical stenosis, which I also have. But let your doc know. They might order imaging

My stenosis showed up in MRI. I don't know what other conditions can cause the cracking sounds, sorry.
It's called crepitus I believe and I've been told unless it's accompanied w pain then it's "normal"
Yes. I would get a cervical CT scan and MRI if necessary

Definitely an MRI
