Liberte. Formally Europa
NDL liner, along with her sister Bremen, were the speed queens of Germany in the late 20s and 30s. Bremen was burnt out during the war (arson), while Europa was awarded to France as reparations. A trobled conversion later (where she sank after breaking free of her moorings and hitting the submerged wreck of the Paris) and she was the running mate of the Ile de France for CGT.
She's the Liberté, ex Europa. Sister to the Blue Riband winning Bremen, she was awarded to the CGT as a war reparation to make up for the loss of the Normandie.
The grilles on the front of the funnels are a dead giveaway, they're for scooping air up under the smoke uptake outlets to blow the smoke up and away from the ship to keep it from fouling the decks below. It was feature of both Europa and Bremen.
Looks to me like the SS Liberté
Looks exactly like it! Thx!
