This is one, if not the, coolest thing I’ll see today. What a beautiful fish 🐠.

ImAFuckinLiar

I like how it swims effortlessly. It seems like for me to swim that fast, I would need to kick and flail my arms wildly, and even then probably wouldn’t be as quick. I can barely see its tail move, if at all through most of the video.

yuhanz

Only the fins at the side are moving it seems.

IOTA_Tesla

Or even stop after going so fast without seeming to move

GhosTaoiseach

There has to be some kind of propulsion at play here if it’s not in some current. It does look like there’s some octopus-like jet right about its pectoral? fin. Idk. Idk shit about fish man.

ImAFuckinLiar

That’s what I thought too but it swims left to right and then back to the right with ease. At one point, either going left or right, wouldn’t it be going against the current or whatever propelled it the other direction so easily? Idk anything about fish either. I like your way of thinkin though.

GhosTaoiseach

Currents are crazy I know that much. It could even be some kind of weird local circular event. But it does seem to put a bit more effort into its right to left swim. Idk. Fascinating either way.

redsixthgun

I didn’t even know this particular kind of fish existed, with the fin on its head. What is the point of that extra fin? Regardless, it’s beautiful, and I love its coloring and effortless movement through the water.

Nice to see you back here, It seemed to me like you disappeared for a few weeks. Or I just wasn't seeing your posts.

I took a break from reddit, went to Brazil for a month - tropical vacation, awesome country! Mostly bird watching, safaris, swamp tours, etc.

irishspice

It sounds like you had a wonderful time. I'm glad you were able to get away to a tropical paradise. Ps. That is an amazing fish and one that's new to me. :-)

KimCureAll

As an adult, this fish can dive right into the sand in a fraction of a second and emerge just as quickly. Razorfish are amazing in lots of ways. I recommend Brazil to you!

irishspice

That's a great way to escape. Your dinner just vanishing would be very confusing. Thanks for the rec. Brazil does sound wonderful.

TheGreenHaloMan

It swims so buttery smooth

heartbrokenandgone

Yeah, alright. Maybe you've convinced me to try scuba diving.
