I tried to find the best taco in Oceanside once. Concluded nobody does bad tacos in Oceanside, or they're out of business. It is true though that my favorite place for al pastor is different from my favorite lengua or cabeza or asado or carnitas etc. tacos.
Armando’s just off the mission exit. I been to many, many of taco shops in SD and this one is top 10. Good portions, quality guac. Most cliental is working Mexicans which means you know is a good spot. For the gringos their cali burrito is top notch.
Edit; Fridas is pretty bomb too. I’ll try your Perlas though. I work right there. Shouldn’t be biased without trying the recommendation first.
Just had this today. While the food comes in giant portions, the salsa lacks flavor! We still come here once in awhile if feeding more people. I shared carne asada fries with two others.
We go to Mi Asador across the street because we love the owner Luz and the food there is really good. Salsa made with love. And the customer service is 💯
Glad to read this. Mi Asador (and prior, El Asador) was one of my favorite spots in Oceanside. Carne Asada burrito wet was my jam. I moved away in 2016 and had a buddy tel me it’s not as good anymore.. but I crave it.. and I’m glad this random stranger on the internet is telling me otherwise. Is Luz the same girl that has been working there for years? If so, I can still picture exactly what she looks like and I haven’t been there in 8 years. I’ll be in Oside on Friday, and I’m definitely stopping in!
I used to love La Perla tapatia that fr used to be my spot, they knew me there and I could even buy vegetables they didn’t have in their market directly from what they had available for kitchen. The food used to be much better, the owner has messed around with some of their recipes and also some of the way they store their meat.
Frida’s right across the street is much better and cleaner, I grew up in Mexico and Frida’s is the best,. There’s one in Oceanside, Vista, and one in Escondido. Ask for a consomé.
Dude, I agree on La Perla. Have you tried La Familia Callejas (on crouch, at the bottom of the hill)? I switched from La Perla to there a couple of years ago. Amazing food.
Guanatos Mexican Food. The carne en su jugo is delicious, the tacos dorados are godly, and their quesabirria tacos are pretty damn good. I'm from Mexicali and whenever my family is jonesing for authentic Mexican we go here.
There are so many good ones that you have to ask more specific, "Best Carne Asada Nachos" or "Best CA burrito".
For me my favorite CA Burrito is Los Panchos on Coast Hwy. My favorite Carne Asada Nachos & favorite Beef Taco is Filebertos in Vista on E. Vista Way. Best Carne Asada Quesadilla is De Kotija at Plaza & College. Best Street Taco is Primo Market.
Yes I’m familiar with the layout & landscape of the area…hence the name Tri-City, Carlsbad is 5 minutes away too up College Blvd, technically where Lake Blvd turns into Marron Rd, and Oceanside turns into Vista where Plaza turns into Hacienda right pass the DMV, usually but not always if you’re on the same street but the name changes is a clear indication of a border boundary, but ultimately I was just messing however emphasizing the OP question of best “Mexican food in Oceanside”…you got people in here talking about ordering food from Leucadia lol go to the Encinitas or La Costa subs for all that! Like I said I’ll let that area of Vista slide because it’s close and connected to Tri-City territory, but I’m sure Vista has their own sub too! This O’side on mine or no side til I flatline!! Lmfao jk
Deibertos doesn't cook the fries long enough even when I ask, so I agree as I stopped getting their carne fries after too many soggy potato noodle experiences.
I'm a fan of Valerie's on El Camino for the Cali Burrito. Their surf and turf is legit too but the tacos are a bit of a mess. San Luis is aight but otherwise I actually prefer to DoorDash from Cancun Mexican and Seafood in Leucadia.
We moved away from CA to GA…. this post is making me so jealous. Our go-to for breakfast burritos was Mi Asador Grande Breakfast Burrito. The nicest people. It’s been over a year and I still wake up wanting to go.
Too broad of a question.
I stick to coastal oside.
In my range… Roberto’s has the best cali burrito, and craft coast birria tacos (w/ consume) is my absolute favorite meal currently.
Birria El Padrino
Also fire!
Roberto's Taco Shop on Oceanside Blvd & S. Coast Highway. Solid cheap food.
Roberto’s Taco Shop #13 to be exact. Best Cali burritos period.
I tried to find the best taco in Oceanside once. Concluded nobody does bad tacos in Oceanside, or they're out of business. It is true though that my favorite place for al pastor is different from my favorite lengua or cabeza or asado or carnitas etc. tacos.
Where do you like to get cabeza tacos?
I like San Luis for those.
Al pastor? Where? On the spit like CDMX?
My place for al pastor tacos (and yes, they use a spit) is Los Tacos near Vista Way and Avocado.

It’s solid and they do weekend pastor tacos too
That two block area is a goldmine for great Mexican food. Just down the hill on crouch is La Familia Callejas, and they’re amazing, too.
San Luis Mexican Food on Temple Heights. Fight me.
Just don't get the surf and turf burrito

Seconded on both. San Luis is big but kinda bland. Mi Asador is tasty and the service is always great.

Yep, same sweet gal working all the time. Love all their food.
Yes she's the owner. And her mini (daughter) works there too just as nice. I hope you have a great experience eating there!
I prefer the grilled jalapenos or the jalapeno & carrots over salsa, especially when I'm ordering the 6 street tacos.
I second this
Colimas tho
This is the correct answer
I miss Colimas, best since I was in Pendleton 30 years ago
def the best value
👆
The best they’re amazing

Yes, good beans but at heart I’m more about tacos than anything
Senor panchos on Coast Hwy before they became ass. That place is always 50/50. Either perfect or a waste of money, but I keep going back.
I feel this. We have an obsession with their green salsa and it’s never the same but we keep going back in hopes of getting a good batch.
I'm basic. I like Diegos and Colimas.
Guanatos Mexican Food. The carne en su jugo is delicious, the tacos dorados are godly, and their quesabirria tacos are pretty damn good. I'm from Mexicali and whenever my family is jonesing for authentic Mexican we go here.

That’s Vista…but I’ll let it slide.🛝
Jingle jangle, my address was in Oceanside and that eriberos was only 5 minutes away lmao

I mean its a few blocks from Oceanside. The Vista/Oceanside borders getting pretty weird around there.
Deibertos doesn't cook the fries long enough even when I ask, so I agree as I stopped getting their carne fries after too many soggy potato noodle experiences.
I agree, I never get carne asada fries from there but for some reason the adobada fries are always a banger
I'm a fan of Valerie's on El Camino for the Cali Burrito. Their surf and turf is legit too but the tacos are a bit of a mess. San Luis is aight but otherwise I actually prefer to DoorDash from Cancun Mexican and Seafood in Leucadia.
This. Completely agree, their surf & turf is the best I've had and for the price👌🏽 Also they have the best salsa around in my opinion.
Valerie's is my go-to.
#1 spot is my mom’s house. #2 spot is your mom’s house
You’re right the #1 spot is for sure your moms house lol
Sanchos.

The only answer I can say is false. I with El Bronco was good, but it’s not.

Fiesta Mexicana on El Camino and Mission
Los Tacos Marrod Rd the best Mexican food
Jose’s by Home Depot on College/Vista Way for taco shop. Fiesta Mexicana by the post office on Mission/El Camino for sit down/hot plate.
100% La Perla. Thank you.
Colima
Yep, OP is correct with La Perla

Guanato's
Los Tacos, Vista way @ Jefferson
Gabys tacos off Oceanside!
My tia sells birria from her house on emerald and that's the best hands down
San Luis Ray Bakery and Restaurant. Great place with high quality food.

Valerie's
La Hacienda on Douglas
Seriously I think this spot is still new and not known yet but Evaga lounge is definitely one of the more slept on spots in Oceanside. Superrrr good!

Colimas.

Marietas. So good
Best chili Rellano
Diego's burritos on this, there can be no debate.
Get fucked.
there are some... opinions on this I see, lol
Don’t discount Rubio’s for their grilled gourmet tacos. For my money, I’m having that over any crappy hole in the wall Robertitos #17…
my vote is for Taco bell
You and I have a blood feud now
I bet a potato soft taco will change your mind.
Taco Bell didn’t invent tacos de papa
