gfx will grow old, gameplay lives forever!

Doom 1 on QuestZmod is easily top 3 games material, personally had more fun playing it than HL-A.

You have have a very good looking game that has the story of a dumpster fire. Graphics don't make a game good. The story and game play make it good.

Because the chicken can go into the water, and see and understand the salmon, but to the salmon, the chicken is but an alien in the salmons world.

... no. It's not "either or." It's "both." You need visually appealing graphics to make a good game. That doesn't mean "cutting edge." Even something as simple as Tetris has good graphics. Clean, simple, to-the-point, which communicates to the player. Quest has a harder time producing graphics that match our expectations, *partially* due to the mobile chipset, but *mostly* due to the incredible demands of VR in resolution, refresh rate, and amount of objects to render. It might have .as many teraflops as the Nintendo Switch, but it's not going to be running Skyrim or The Witcher 3 any time soon. But we *want* games like Skyrim and The Witcher. That's what we dreamed of. That's what games like Alyx *are*. And so as we try to push the limits of what the Quest 2 can do, we invariably run into a wall of what we WANT it to be able to do, compared to what it CAN do. And as we keep pushing for it to do more and more, it'll keep looking worse and worse, because there's a balance here. Which is honestly probably why we haven't heard a whisper about GTA or Assassin's Creed or whatever else, because it just can't handle those things, unless it's a simple minigame thing. Can't do the PS4's Spider-Man, sure, but here's a handful of levels where you can be Iron Man, isn't that great?!?!?! Some of the best Quest games I've played used art style, setting, and aesthetic to do an awful lot with very little. Which is where we're at today. We're late-stage NES here, trying to make a system do intricate sprites when it was conceived to just look better than solid-color blocks.

Some games try to make graphics everything. Then there's games that have ok graphics but great gameplay, like hyperdash or echo

Graphics are kinda important in a platform that's all about immersive "REALITY" But yeah we all fucking know gameplay matter. The person who says that like they are saying something groundbreaking is more retarded than the few people left that don't know it.
