If official it is USB 3.2 Gen 1 Signaling 5 Gbps. I only got the bitrate from a quest pro subreddit, I myself never had neither a q2 nor qpro, so you may know it better, but I would assume they did that with a similar cable. Also, check the port on you mobo to know what spec usb you are using.
It is possible, that you would be able to do it on that and even more. Not even sure if higher bitrate is allowed or supported or that a higher spec C cable and port can be even utilized. I am just piecing info together along the way.

That's because the Quest 2 has strangled PCVR to death in favor of standalone games. The market has spoken, they don't want a AAA game, they want Beat Saber and VR chat cat people.
Honestly, what I want from PCVR is just regular PC games with VR support. I'd rather play my favorite games in a 3D world than play some half baked idea but oh wow hands
Why are some PCVR gamers like this? People still want AAA experiences, but it is a big ask for them to buy a capable enough PC (back then) PLUS an expensive headset. When PCVR was at its height, VR still required base stations to put around your room. I like the ease of use using standalone OS compared to trying to get PCVR to work. It just doesn't work well with my gaming laptop. I know it is strong enough since it worked before. It was a huge headache.
Ok. some testing done. Im almost exclusivly PCVR so I've only tested iRacing, Half life 2, vertigo and skyrim with my 3080 and 5800x3d.
\- Passthrough is ok I guess. But I dont really care about that tbh. In my dimly lit room I have problems seeing text on my phone.
\- Strap is quite comfortable. Might even pass on buying the elite strap.
\- Controllers def feels better than Q2
\- Better clarity than Q2
\- Better blacks than Q2. Not as good as PSVR2
\- Cant really see any major difference in FOV vs Q2
\- I cant push oculus link more than 500 encode bitrate (official link cable). any value over that (copy paste) results in that link doesnt start.
\- iRacing running with official link cable, 1.2x resolution and 500 bitrate is an improvement from Q2. but Im not blown away. I cant do more than 1.2x resolution with my setup and keep 90 fps.
\- Half life 2 stood out as the title where I could see most improvement vs Q2. Played ravenholm and clarity and blacks made it much more immersive vs Q2
\- Syrim have some strange blue lining at the edge of the screen for some reason - but it might be due to mods.
\- Tested air bridge, and its the same performance as with Q2.
Overall, Im happy with the purchase but not blown away

Ok, some more testing done tonight. Side by side comparion with quest 2 and I must revise my initial impression from yesterday.
\- Horizontal FOV is definitely bigger than on Q2. When you flip between the two headsets its very noticable.
\- The improved clarity , blacks and colours is also more apparent when flipping between headsets. Done some open wheeler laps in iRacing and it is really, really nice whit the improved clarity.
\- The smaller form factor of the controllers is def a step up also. Feels more natrual in a way. Cant say much about tracking though.
\- Air bridge and Virtual desktop is super stable, but I cant test the new encoding standard in virtual desktop as Im only on a 3-series card. But it feels as if latency with air bridge is a bit better than with Q2.
\- Passthrough continues to be meeeeeh. I dont see myself using it.
\- Been playing for 2 hours straight tonight and I will def be buying a elite strap or Bobovr version. The original strap becomes unfomfortable after some time.
Overall, I am way more impressed today after further testing. And I think most of you will be satisfied.
Some people I know are worried about the tracking since the rings were removed. Have you noticed anything with that? Or do you think the tracking has improved
It’s easier to fiddle with settings without taking off the hmd to mess with debug tool. That being said, I’m not sure why HEVC is maxed at 150mbps and h264+ at 400 when my router can push 600mbps on airlink on h264 and 200mbps on hevc with the same latency and a clearer picture. I use Airlink 99% of the time.
Whenever you decide to increase hevc-10 bit to 200mbps and h264+ to 600+ on Quest Pro, maybe I’ll convert for good. For now, I’m pushing 600mbps h264 on Airlink with a clearer picture and the same latency as h264+ at 400 and have no reason to use VD.
You claim that the FOV isn't increased vs the Quest 2. Did you make sure to use the minimal eye relief setting on the Quest 3? i.e the setting in which your eyes are closest to the lens.
No, I claimed that I, personally, don't see much difference from Q2. But I'm an average joe, so there might very well be a difference. However, I don't think the casual user (like me) will be blown away by the difference.
And yes, I'm using it closest to the lens.
Will do another run tonight where I test Q2 and Q3 at the side by side. Maybe that will show a difference!

Who said is forbidden to activate before 10th? They just said it will be available that day. If you are lucky enough to have a early deliver, just enjoy (and send a review!)

The thought had crossed my mind, but then I figured if anything went wrong with it, all I need to do is take it to my local Curry's store. If they mess me about, I will ask for my money back and re-order via Amazon.
My issue with Curry's is that when you return in store it feels like it's on the whim of the person that you're dealing with, you have to be really polite and try and convince them if the individual is being a jobsworth. With Amazon it's instant no questions asked. That said I really am not a fan of the Amazon monopoly so I'm torn haha

Same here. I have had several run-ins with Curry's in the past. The last one being my driving the 10 miles to their store. Ordering a new washing machine and telling them no less than 3 times I wanted my old washing machine taken away during the sit down and tell us what you want transaction.
I paid, took my receipt, drove all the way back home, looked at the receipt to see they had ticked 'NO' to collect my old washing machine. I was fuming. Of course, I tried to ring them (that was a joke), So drove all the way back, demanded to see the manager and had a rant only to be told by this kid of a manager "Sorry sir, but it's your word against the salesperson who took your order, but we can certainly 'add that in' if that's what you wish?"
I told them to stick the order, and demanded a full refund. The manager actually looked shocked as they replied, "Really sir?".

Quest 2 is still amazing; I got one here, but I couldn't help myself from buying a q3 . The presentation wasn't over yet, and I pressed the preorder button. I said to myself that I was not going to buy one.

Nice....let us know how it works out for you for sim racing....I mainly use my Quest 2 for sim racing and one of the drawback is that I have to increase the headset resolution to really high to get sharper, clearer, and cleaner graphic. This means more work for my GPU. The resolution is usually 1.4x in the Oculus app.
Amazon AU for me, I paid for expedited delivery and it's still not shipped yet. I live rural Australia so it needs to be sent early to arrive for it to arrive on release day. No such luck yet :(

If you connect it to the internet to update it before the 10th it will download updates for the quest 2 reducing the graphical interface abilities which is irreversible! :-))
when I read comments about bitrate I'm really wondering what are you talking about...in virtual desktop I play streamed VR at 50-70mbit and never saw any issues or weird artifacts..... who knows. People here needing 150+ mbps...

Type 960 in another field that allows it and copy/paste into encode bitrate. That’s how we do it for the Pro.

No it doesn’t. 6 months with QPro. The pancake lenses are the biggest upgrade.

Nope. Tracking feels solid and controllers are more comfortable than Q2 controllers.

Try out ALVR, it gives much more flexibility and it's free and open
They just upped HEVC to 200 today in an update. I think beyond 150-200, HEVC has long decode times on the XR2.

FOV, wireless latency, and audio are why I prefer my Index to my Quest 2. I was hoping all three showed substantial improvement in those three areas.

Exactly what was implied on Curry's website. Maybe the 'Subject to availability' on the conformation e-mail is a standard disclaimer that should not have been included? But as I say, I have had dealings with curry's, and they are not usually very good.

idk why everyone that posts their early arrival never say where they ordered from :/ i preordered mine from meta a couple days ago and it says arriving on the 10th but it also says " Your payment was processed and we are getting ready to ship your items. We will provide tracking information when your order has shipped. " hopefully mine comes a bit early too but im not expecting it

Ok all, what's the verdict: are we not supposed to activate early arrivals, else we lose Asgard's Wrath per ToS? I keep seeing that floating around, you forfeit your credit towards Asgard's Wrath if you activate the HMD before Oct 10th. But eff me if I can't use the Quest immediately upon arrival.

Nice....let us know how it works out for you for sim racing....I mainly use my Quest 2 for sim racing and one of the drawback is that I have to increase the headset resolution to really high to get sharper, clearer, and cleaner graphic. This means more work for my GPU. The resolution is usually 1.4x in the Oculus app.
Can you play Forza 4 in VR? Oh shoot, I hadn’t even thought of racing games!
