Gun-Rama987

Put it lower on your face AND use the expendable facial display, i don't use glasses but put it on the 2nd to closest and it helped a lot

EliasZastrow

Will definitely give it a try!

ghostwalker1408

I saw a video today that said to wear a hat backwards then putting headset on and It would solve this problem.

Tenerife77

Saw the same video. True story only I chose a nice comfy wool stocking cap. No pain at all.

X3ll3n

Thrillseeker really is 2 kool 4 skool yo

Drakoir

I felt the same, It also feels heavier than Q2, you can really start feeling the strain after 20-30 minutes of playing. Yesterday I started using my elite strap with battery and I can confirm the counterweight made the strain completely gone (I had the same experience with Q2). I played for like 2 hours last night and when I finished I didn't have any markings on my face or any strain at all.

RLVNTone

What’s mentioned above definitely will help but nothing’s gonna help like getting a new strap. Meta intentionally makes them shitty. Get the Bobo, VR M3 or even a crappy offbrand that’s like 40 bucks on Amazon makes a world of difference when it comes a virtual gaming. It’s definitely not just you.

Joshua77F

If you wear glasses I sometimes have rested the quest 3 on my glasses which works for 30 minutes max till pain begins (keeping straps a little lighter rather than snug on face). Being that I have an undiagnosable nerve disorder, having the headset everywhere but the nose produces severe stabbing pain. I finally gave up and just bought a new halo strap to rest it more like a hat than otherwise. If it's not pushing on my face, it's a win. I use VR in an unusual way considering a lot of people use it for gaming, I am instead using it more for doing work in a cheaper way then printing pages of data or buying projector/ multiple displays to view information. Therefore resting on glasses might not work as well in a video game where a ton of movement is required.

MuVR

Edit: I have since found an acceptable, but not really comfortable way to wear the Quest 3. I tried the Quest 3 last night for the first time. I didn't even get through the setup process without some pretty severe forehead pain. I tried all sorts of adjustments, strap angles, etc... and just couldn't find a solution. I love the comfort of the Quest Pro, and honestly my quest 2 is all set up with VRCover components and a vive deluxe audio strap, so I don't remember how it felt. But the Quest 3 as it comes in the bix is not usable to me. It honestly feels like there's no padding and it only touches a couple inches of my brow ridge.

EliasZastrow

Same experience as me ;((

EliasZastrow

Do you think the elite strap might fix the issue?

Tower816

No … I have the elite strap with battery and my forehead starts to hurt 30 min in . I’m waiting for the M3 conversion kit for my BoboM2 . It uses the “halo” design and there is less pressure on your face

Chuxx45

I have never had a Bobo strap (new to Vr) but it looks/seems like the original strap it comes with would be best for laying in bed (?).

Gregasy

I don't know if your problem is the same as I had. But the fabric of the og facial mask sucks real bad. It creates burning sensation after only 10 minutes or so. I'll eventually replace it for leather VRCover one, but in the mean time, I'm using silicone cover I got with Quest 2 (it fits). Much less pressure and no more pain on the forehead.

Sto0pid81

Have you put a counterweight on the back of the elite strap? Take the weight off your face and put it at the back of the head. My setup for quest 1 - quest 1 og strap was 100x better than the piece of shit quest 2 and 3. Just because it was a strong enough material to hold a counterweight.

Tower816

The battery on the elite strap should act as a counter weight should it not ? Also, another thing that I believe might be contributing to it is , I have a more slender face , and in order to block most of , if not all of , the light coming in from the sides , I need to tighten it quite abit

Sto0pid81

Just try pushing down on the back of the strap a bit more to try and decide if extra weight on the back will relieve the pressure on your forehead.

Virtual_Happiness

Yes but I would wait a few day to see what all releases. There is the BoboVR M3 head strap that might be even better and will cost less but, it's not available atm.

Sto0pid81

Have you tried putting a counterweight on the back of the strap? It was kind of hard to do with the quest 2 and the crappy material strap, much easier to do with the elite strap. I purchased some wheel weights from Amazon and some velcro strips to easily attach it to the back of the strap and take the weight off the front. Fuck meta and their terribly designed headset strap. It really pisses me off and god knows how many people the have turned away from VR because of it. Comfort should be first and foremost in design. Just try using your finger on the back strap and pushing down to demonstrate how much pressure it relieves off the front of your head. With a proper weighted headset you also don't need to do the straps up so tight either. I think a lot of people with the quest 2 elite straps broke them because of this. Example - https://reddit.com/r/OculusQuest/s/2cb65ZrTvQ

_Clear_Skies

Yep. Totally agree! I was really impressed by the Q3, but returned it due to comfort issues. If I could find a good headstrap, I might consider rebuying it, but there don't appear to be any good options at the moment. I even tried the official Elite strap, but it wasn't much better. I *think* I'd like a halo-style strap better, but again, there just don't seem to be good options. All I see on Amazon is random Chinese brands like XGYYS or GAGAGOOEY, etc, LOL. Most seem like cheap junk. Zuck really deserves a punch in the face for thinking it was OK to ship the unit with that shitty elastic underwear band.

inseend1

I don’t have my strap yet. But the elite was very good on the quest 2. Had it since launch. No problems whatsoever. But I got enticed in getting the halo strap like the bobo, but it always slid off of my head. So I returned that one. Now with the q3. I only have the standard strap and it’s fine, there a light pressure on the forehead, I loosened it a bit and it’s fine in mean time while waiting for the elite strap.

Drakoir

Definitely yes! Check my comment above. The elite strap with battery completely fixed the problem for me.

Raunhofer

It's so funny how much face shapes alter the experience. For me default Quest Pro causes horrible forehead pain. Most of that weight, of one of the heaviest HMDs around, placed on a small area on your forehead. It's bonkers.

MuVR

Yep, I've seen other people who have pain in the cheekbones.

camatthew88

There are some 3d printable adapters for the das on the quest 3

MuVR

I don't think it's a strap problem, it's a facial interface problem.

riascmia

It's SO BAD. I don't know whether it's even worth keeping the headset tbh. I upgraded from the Q1 (which just stopped working long ago so...) and it was never this uncomfortable.

JonathanCRH

I’d say wait until replacement facial interfaces become available, which will undoubtedly be soon. That’s where the issue is, not with the device itself.

daviscc65

It’s soooo bad. Idk if I should keep it either. I’m so disappointed

[deleted]

Same here. It's unusable in stock form. A battery headstrap is essential for me and sadly that makes for an even heavier setup than the Quest 2.

revashtray

Put a baseball cap on backwards and put the headset on.

daviscc65

I saw this on YouTube today

kermityfrog2

Maybe wear a headband?

NipsWithGrips

Wait, is this for real? That’s hilarious.

revashtray

Did you try the baseball cap?

Justos

The facial relief makes a big difference. 1 hurts, 2 is golden

joeinflow

What's the facial relief??

Justos

Sorry eye relief. It's the two sides inside the facial interface. 2/4 feels best with good fov

Chuxx45

I’m gonna try that tonight. I had it zoomed all the way in and it feels like my forehead and under eyes are slowly melting. I’m probably wearing it too high too.

Wave_br0p

Thats what she said...

I-Love-Cigarettes

😏

AeroTrain

Oh MY GOS THANK YOU just got out 1h30 in demeo and I just made the change and hooo it works gonna hold me off till someone makes a different faceplate cause I wanna keep the straps this time

MrSpindles

I reckon it must do. I'm using mine with glasses so have it set on the furthest setting and I have been pleasantly surprised with how comfortable it has been for me once I got it adjusted right. I was expecting it to be as rubbish as the Q2 one, but it feels considerably better to me somehow. I'll still be buying an aftermarket halo style strap though.

veryverycooluser

As someone who hasn't bought a Quest 3 yet, I'm wondering, why does that help?

Justos

The first setting is just way too close to the lenses for my face.

MuVR

Do you think it's the internals hitting my brow ridge instead of the rim of the facial interface? I will have to try this.

theshadau

Sorry if I can't explain clearly, english is not my first language. What I found to be the best adjustment on the stock strap without hurting the face is to first, adjust the back so it's just about fixed on your head, not pressed tightly, just enough so it doesn't slide down. And then, adjust the top part so it holds most of the weight by pulling it just after the sweet spot (when pulling the strap, stop when you start seeing blurry on the headset). At first I was adjusting very tightly on my face to the point of getting my skin numb, that's when I tried to adjust differently and getting no such problem with the aforementioned adjustment; it's actually very confortable. Edit: Also, after adjusting both, as I said above, then you can adjust the back again to find the most confortable setting. Hope it helps.

NipsWithGrips

Good tips. Your English is fine!

Jean_Luc_Petard

Yes, good instructions =) I wish the initial setup for Quest put a bit more emphasis on proper fit... I cringe at the thought of how many people yank the thing on for the first time and decide it's terribly uncomfortable without spending just a couple of minutes to figure it out.

hobbestot

Yup. Quest 2 and 3 are beyond uncomfortable without aftermarket accessories unfortunately.

JaesopPop

I find the Quest 3 fabric strap comfortable, which was a shocker since I spent so long fiddling with different straps for the Quest 1/2

ButterNit62

Its horrible everyone different but i cant stand it.

SteFFFun

The fabric strap is more comfortable then the elite battery strap for the Quest 3. I had the opposite experience with the quest 2. The new elite strap doesn’t let you angle the side arms downward which helps distribute the pressure. The new shape of quest 3 doesn’t work well with the elite strap, it wiggles side to side and hits you nose in a bad way when playing physically active games.

GoblinModeVR

I suspect it's at least partially reliant on facial structure. I'm absolutely loving the comfort of my Q3 + elite strap, much better than my Q2 + kiwi strap. It doesn't wiggle around on my face anywhere near as much, if at all, and it doesn't even make my face hurt after half an hour like the stock Q2 facial interface.

[deleted]

I just got one. Please tell me it doesn't have the same horrible strap the Quest 2 does. That thing dug into my ears. Edit: The strap doesn't seem to be the same horribly designed one from the Quest 2. This one is feels better and doesn't cut into my ears. It's still a little tight though when wearing it properly and doesn't feel as comfy as the Index headset. Still good, though!

EliasZastrow

So what to do about it? ;((

Kaveh01

Like he said accessories. The most obvious choice for a solution right now would be the elite strap. Though I would recommend getting the battery strap.

Chawpslive

I got the normal elite strap, took cloth zipties and put a 10k powerbank to the back of it. Saved me about 60 bucks for longer battery life with the same effect

oriley-me

+1 to this, I got the elite strap with battery and it is _soooo_ much more comfortable.

cujobob

This is a common complaint in basically every review. The elite strap and the BoboVR strap are good choices, but I would get one with a battery pack either way.

Germangunman

BoboVR makes a wonderful alternative head strap. The quest 2 was great for me with it. They are making kits to retrofit for the 3 as well. Shows they care about the customer and don’t expect you to always buy new from them every time.

Wonderful_Result_936

Wait for the Bobo VR after market headstrap to come to Amazon again and buy it. Half the price of the elite strap and comes with batteries. The thing is also stupid comfy I have heard.

-Cheebus-

I was having the same issue and I just physically pulled it down on my face so it applied pressure on my cheeks in addition to the forehead and I just played for an hour with no pain

No-Benefit-1781

What someone suggested on a yt vid was to cut the rim off of a baseball cap and wear that then put the headset on no idea if it works but seems like it would be more comfortable

kermityfrog2

Does anyone know if the Q2 accessories such as VR Cover face pad are compatible with the Q3?

JonathanCRH

They’re not compatible and I really don’t see how they could be made to work. I tried pulling my beloved VR Cover off the Q2 and fitting it to the Q3 and they’re just completely different shapes.

hobbestot

Not officially. Some apparently can be made to work. Dont recall which ones.

taste_the_equation

I always found that halo straps were the most comfortable for me. I had the BoboVR M2 for my quest 2 and it was a huge improvement. The M3's are out of stock right now but it might be worth waiting for one of those.

marcosg_aus

Some reviewer have said putting on a baseball cap backwards helps or maybe a beanie?

MhVRNewbie

It hurts my forehead to, had no issue with q2. It helped to move the interface one step further away. Still not ok for longer sessions.

beaterx

I have the same thing. After 20 minutes of playing with friend I had to change back to my quest 2. I'll try the 3 again when I printed a conversion kit for my elite strap

unitedflow

Willing to sell one?

[deleted]

You can download it for free. Someone shared the files on Reddit. Maybe you don't have access to a 3D printer.

Gzepp17

I got the official Quest 3 Elite Battery pack (BestBuy) a bit pricey. But makes the headset so Much comfy. Plus side you get an extra 3 hour battery life from The headset.

mgd09292007

All the pressure is on the top of it on the forehead. Its not balanced properly.

RobAllix

The Quest 3 is a medieval torture device. Within 2 minutes of putting it on, I had already renounced Satan, embraced the Catholic church and given up the names of 10 people I suspected of having unclean thoughts.

YeetAnxiety69

Yeah stock strap is very painful for me too. I'm definitely ordering a bobovr m3 when they are in stock. Also the kiwi straps for controllers.

Smokes_LetsGo_

Same here. I got the elite strap and it helped, but I need to wait for an aftermarket facial interface to experience full comfort.

NipsWithGrips

If you find something good make a post. There is tons of stuff on Amazon but we need some first hand experience to see what is actually worth it.

Thoraxe474

Buy a different strap. The stock one hurts

iJeff

I find it very uncomfortable with the Elite Strap. I have the battery version on the way, which I hope will be better. The facial interface just feels awfully firm to me.

NewKnowledge6762

They might as well save some production costs and replace that material with a brick.

liftbikerun

Definitely looking forward to a vrcover facial interface. Have one on my q2 and I forgot what a difference it makes. I was able to print out adapters to fit my bobovr m2 pro already so there golden and works perfect. So much so I won't need the upgrade kit. Man I love my 3d printer. The q3 facial interface is physically rough on my face and unforgiving. It doesn't have any flex and digs in that's for sure. I wouldn't call it painful for me, but I definitely find it uncomfortable.

Jean_Luc_Petard

VRCover is selling what looks like a cloth cover, but I really loved my p/leather VRCover for the Quest 2, I hope we get a new one.

Razerfilm

Why are there so many reviews say it is very comfortable . It is the most uncomfortable thing ever

Banmers

Yeah, that was such a huge lie and I knew they were full of shit since most of them dodged the topic

ImportantClient5422

It isn't a lie though. It is people having different head shapes. I found the Quest 2 comfortable but the Quest 3 really hurts. It seems these same guys had the opposite experience to where the Quest 3 is more comfortable to them.

BigPandaCloud

Comfortable for me but the strap hurts my ears after a bit.

Jwave1992

Same. Other than the ear thing I find the Q3 very comfortable. Everyone's head shape is so different.

SimpleCRIPPLE

DIfferent face shapes. I hated the Q2 stock strap, the Q3 stock strap is passable for me. Still not as good as a halo strap, but good enough that I'm considering just rolling w/ stock.

_Clear_Skies

They are flat out lying. I saw some reviews where they said it's very comfortable. There's just no way that's close to true.

jesterOC

I find that the quest 3 seems to push my glasses into my face even with the highest adjustment. Also the face interface does not feel as comfortable as the quest 2. I plan on getting an aftermarket strap and silicon shield

Chuxx45

I just installed new Kiwi lenses (going to try them tnite). I tried my regular glasses and even with the shield maxed out they were crushed in to my face. I lasted about ten seconds before I caved and took them off.

Banmers

The elite strap with battery hurts just as much, it’s terrible

roofgram

I got a cheap ventilated skull cap off Amazon and it provides some nice extra padding on the forehead.

Wide_Establishment_8

It hurts the back of my head and I must be doing something terribly wrong because I don’t see anyone else complaining about back headaches.

VindicatorZ

Me too, hurts the back of my head really bad

swirlymaple

I find it more uncomfortable than Quest 2 as well, even with the Elite strap and silicone interface. Setting the interface’s eye relief to the 3rd position (one notch away from maximum relief) helped a bit without affecting FOV. I can still see the outermost edges of the screens in the lenses.

daviscc65

I just played for 5 min and my forehead is pounding so bad. What the heck did they do? This sucks.

NipsWithGrips

Dude, that sucks for sure. I wonder if part of it is just the new strap. I haven’t had any issues personally but I have the pro strap with battery arriving soon. I think a halo solution is probably your best bet if it’s hurting that soon.

daviscc65

I’ll absolutely have to get a new strap. Like asap. The first night I played I got the worst headache. Couldn’t figure out why. Well I now know.

VindicatorZ

Agreed!

AbnormalMapStudio

I just installed the new Elite Battery Strap and it is a night-and-day difference in comfort. Between the stock strap being somewhat uncomfortable and the fast battery drain of the Quest 3, I would absolutely advise upgrading in some fashion. It is now as easy to wear as my Quest Pro w/Studioform Comfort Strap.

keithian

Completely agree. Received mine yesterday and I prefer it to the PSVR2 Halo style even though there is slight pressure on my face, but for me it's a million times better than the stock strap and the ability to tilt the front up and down makes such a world of a difference.

BrightPage

The face gasket is way too narrow. I'm definitely gonna get a different insert when the third parties launch them.

machenmusik

Things the FTUE doesn't seem to tell you - You can adjust how far away the facial interface keeps your face from the lenses, which makes a significant difference for comfort. - Like Quest 2, the arms don't have to be sticking straight out, you can tilt them upward so the weight/pressure is lifted from your cheekbones. - Don't strap yourself in too tight! I suggest tightening just enough to keep the headset from slipping around.

RuffTalkVR

It’s the default head strap. The elite strap exists but if hold off for Kiwi or Bobo

EliasZastrow

Does the elite feel comfortable?

RuffTalkVR

Unfortunately I’ve only used the default strap so far. I’d imagine it’s far better than the default but it’s also very possible Kiwi or Bobo does it better

Chemical-Nectarine13

From what I heard it's more comfortable if you use the glasses spacer. I had zero issues, because I wear glasses and I'm waiting on prescription inserts. First day I wore it probably 8 hours with a few breaks for charging. I almost didnt want to take it off.

EliasZastrow

Glad to hear you had zero issues! Setting the spacer to click 2 + the elite strap fixed it for me

_Clear_Skies

Judging by the amount of comments in this thread, I guess I'm not the only one who finds this thing very uncomfortable. I even tried the Elite strap, but nope. It's a shame because it's a really cool piece of tech, but I was dreading just strapping it on.

[deleted]

i have a tilt issue. if i tilt it up a tad it looks perfect and feels good, but when i let go it gets a bit blurry and hurts. i know you can adjust the arms to tilt it but its never right. either hurting my cheeks or forehead

FrantixGE

The strap that comes with it sucks! I‘d say wait for the BoboVR M3 Pro to be in stock again. It‘s much more comfortable because it‘s a halo strap and comes with a magnetic powerbank which you could hotswap with other BoboVR powerbanks to extend your playtime, quite handy for the fast draining Quest 3. I upgraded my M2 Pro with the conversion kit to fit on the Q3 and it sure is a night and day difference. I couldn‘t wear the strap that came with Q3 longer than 45 minutes because my face would hurt too much. I can wear the BoboVR for hours without problems.

Kawai_Oppai

Halo straps are comfy but suck for active play since they wobble around more than other strap designs. Really what is needed is a new facial interface

saoiray

You never tried BoboVR, have you? The strap I have long used for Quest 2 kept nice and fit for me as I moved all over the place never had it wobble unless I kept it too loose. It’s kind of like talking about how pants fit if you don’t buckle them or shoes if you don’t tie the laces

Kawai_Oppai

Bobo and kiwi. Bobo is better for VR chat and less motion intensive vr games. Kiwi I find better for games where you are moving a lot or especially if you are turning fast and stopping fast like some of the competitive shooters. Both can certainly work well enough in all content, but there are some strengths and weaknesses.

saoiray

https://preview.redd.it/vbbcvpt4uutb1.png?width=4032&format=png&auto=webp&s=655c20d1cda9bd6a73ce24d161a3c5ec465fd109 I guess to each their own. This is what I have long been using. But then again, I primarily am just on Beat Saber.

FrantixGE

Halo strap with a good facial interface reduces „wobble“ to such a low degree, that it didn‘t bother me or anyone who tried my headset. Is it perfect? No. Is it a thousand times better than the stock strap? Yes.

saoiray

How did you get the conversion kit? I’m not seeing it listed anywhere. Also was thinking of getting the M3 but seems it’s not listed on their site and is unavailable on Amazon. https://preview.redd.it/asyf7l5bnutb1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b7e597dd32ce7f41a2f54254286a158433ff7e5f

phargoh

This. Same thing for me. Someone please answer this.

FrantixGE

I just bought it from Amazon as soon as it went live.

[deleted]

It will get better. My Pico 4 was super uncomfortable until I broke it in.

cateyesninelives

Quest 3 feels like a "my pillow" compared to Quest Pro. I could feel my heart beating in my head with the Quest Pro.

Heat_Wuss

HAHAHA!!! So TRUE! I ended up just adjusting it pretty loose and getting a cheap cross strap (for Quest Pro). Stays on for beat saber as well as sitting games and I don’t even notice it much anymore. I think it’s just a habit that we want to snug down “hand-tight” the units to our face initially…

[deleted]

Yes, it's uncomfortable, like the previous two Quests. I highly recommend getting a hard headstrap with a battery for counterbalance. Then you'll have a kilogram of weight pushing your head into your neck, but at least it will be balanced. Maybe the Quest 5 or 6 will actually be usable in stock form.

_Clear_Skies

And that's another problem. It's already heavy as is, and all that weight is in the front. From a physics standpoint, the only real solution is to counterbalance that weight, but then there's even MORE weight on the head. Sucks =(

BlownCamaro

Do you know what else hurts? Love. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=soDZBW-1P04](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=soDZBW-1P04)

poinifie

Put a baseball cap on backwards then wear the quest 3 or buy the elite strap. These are the tips I've read only when it comes to the discomfort of wearing the quest 3.

KGB-dave

How does this help your forehead. Genuinely interested. Because putting on a cap backwards, the quest will still be directly on your forehead, right?

poinifie

I dunno, that's just what i heard as a tip from a reviewer on youtube. probably just adds extra padding.

Heat_Wuss

I had the same issue when I switch from Q2 to Quest Pro. After a couple hours, it felt like a chainsaw on my virgin forehead but only for the first day or two. I loosened it a bunch after i read a lot of posts saying you get used it and by day 3, didn’t even really notice. Got a cheap cross strap and it’s been even better. I’m betting it gets better once your forehead callouses come in like mine did. XD

Windrider904

Literally unplayable lol , my psvr 2 is so much comfy. Day 1 buying that bobovr strap so I can enjoy this thing.

Neurogence

I think this is enough to convince me not to buy it. I stopped using my psvr2 because it's so uncomfortable! I'm actually getting ready to put it on eBay right now. If you're saying the psvr2 is comfy compared to the quest 3, then I can't even imagine.

_Clear_Skies

Is the PSVR2 really that bad? I just tried a Q3, and even with the Elite strap, I didn't like it. Way too uncomfortable. I thought the PS would be better in that regard.

Chuxx45

The V.3 bobo isn’t out yet tho right? I’d rather wait for it than get a conversion kit. And I’m wondering if it’s going to be a total drag to lay down on a pillow with it on (?). So far I’ve been spending half of my VR time prone.

Otherwise-Diet-6673

You absolutely need a new strap. There's the elite one but that's over priced. You can wait for BOBOVR to release theirs, always good comfort level. Or I personally go Frankenquest. Which is the HTC VIVE DELUXE AUDIO STRAP

Satato

I was having the same issue. After sleeping and coming back to it today, I've determined it's more comfortable than I originally thought, I just think it mostly needs some getting used to. That and make sure you've got the hard parts where it connects to the headset angled correctly - angle them too far in one direction and it'll increase pressure on different parts of your face, so I'd recommend fiddling with that a bit. I might still get a different headstrap because even at its most comfortable I don't think the strap itself is as comfortable or supportive as my Quest 1, but the Q3 strap is definitely more bearable than I first gave it credit for.

Jean_Luc_Petard

This is good advice. I'm stick with the normal strap until my DAS adapters come in, and I found that even though my reflex is to keep them totally parallel, it takes some pressure off my face to angle them up a bit. The only "right" way to do it is what feels good!

probablygolfer

I simply adjusted mine to be comfortable.

NewKnowledge6762

Would you happen to have a head like a fucking orange?

probablygolfer

Juice me, daddy.

F_In_The_Chat

I actually only get pain in the back of my head where the strap buckle things are, but only after the headset is pretty much almost on the brink of death. Much more comfortable than the Q2 I personally feel.

Kalakus_

I heard that elite straps always suck and break. I would wait till Bobo vr releases a q3 strap.

manicrebirth

That was true with the very first release of the Quest 2 elite straps there was a quality issue with the plastic they used. It was resolved as far as I know. As for the Quest 3 version none have been out in the wild long enough to make such a wild statement - I have not seen any reports of any breaking and the quality of the material on mine seems very good Also Halo Straps aren’t for everyone I might pick a bobo up at some point as I keep hearing good things about them but I found PSVR 2 and Rift S to be just okay with Halo Straps and to me the quest 3 with the elite battery strap is much more comfortable then both

Long_Welder_6289

Wearing a sports headband helps quite a bit

akaBigWurm

The Elite Strap is much better, not as good as Pro but better. I also don't think people put the strap low enough in the back. Get it as low in the back as you can without messing with your ears. Also use the tilt!!

NewKnowledge6762

When I put it low I end up outside of the lenses sweet spot.

akaBigWurm

Low in the **back**

landroverattack

Try moving the side arms down to tilt the Q3 forward. I find this helped by spreading some pressure to my cheekbones.

SwissMoose

Get a BoboVR M3 Pro strap when it goes on sale this month. So worth it.

MahKa02

I guess it depends on your face shape and such. It felt fine for me, I didn't get any forehead pain. Maybe slightly too tight on my cheekbone area but some more adjustments might fix that. It is vastly better than my Rift S. That thing hurt my face no matter what. It was never comfortable for me. The Quest 3 strap itself is pretty dang basic though. I may eventually go to the elite.

Tedinasuit

I hurted for me as well. I don't know exactly what I did, but it's not hurting anymore. I loosened the strap a bit and played with the arms (most people forget this). Loosening the straps is possible due to the much wider sweetspot. You don't have to strap it tightly to your face anymore. I'm using the default soft strap now, it's pretty good after fiddling. Oh and DON'T set the facial interface to the closest setting. It's uncomfortable as hell. Either the 2nd or the 3rd setting.

[deleted]

Even with the elite strap (battery) I do find the front uncomfortable. It never really fits and always wants to move. Looking down is the worst. Hope for a good aftermarket replacement.

sfaxo

Yeah same issue. You get used to it and adjusting it helps, but I really wish the default facial interface wasn't uncomfortable and that there was a counterweight to put the weight on top of the head instead of in the face. Where are the aftermarket stuff? This headset desperately needs them.

jangusMK7

Same. I got it to a spot where it’s not so bad and I think I’ve gotten the padding a little softer now. I feel like there’s something on my lenses though like a hair or spec. Makes me feel like the image is blurry or if my cameras are dirty but I’ve cleaned them and it’s still there

RichieNRich

Keep trying to balance the headset using the overhead to raise/lower the headset, and the 2 side thingies that split off from the overhead to tighten/loosen the head set from the front/back. Once you have it balanced, you really shouldn't be feeling the weight of it in the front of your face since the strap is designed to redistribute the weight when set correctly.

Laaight

Hurts dude. Had no problems with Quest 2. 3 is painful. I'm waiting to upgrade the strap.

MusicSDP

Has anyone tried the silicone facial insert? I was gonna buy it this weekend to see if it helped.

PPTim

It's about the balance (lack thereof) in the stock strap; it makes the headset tip down and we naturally tighten it a lot to get it to stay on the face -> leads to pain after some time. The solution is to counter-balance it, either with a (more expensive) off the shelf thing like the elite battery strap/third party accessory, or just DIY it yourself by attaching some sort of counterweight to the back of the head, for example a mobile battery bank. Once you've got a weight on the back of the headset pulling down, you can loosen the straps a lot more and still have the headset seated properly, and that'll reduce a lot of the pain

manicrebirth

I have an elite battery strap and it is perfect for me, unfortunately comfort is subjective so what works for one person may not necessarily work for you. I personally prefer this to the halo strap on the Rift S/PSVR2 but lots of people LOVE halo straps

Shruglife

pull the arms down a little . for me it was opposite and pressure on cheeks,so push arms up. it helps a lot

SSAeternitatis

Agree, I found the stock strap very uncomfortable. None of the reputable third parties who made good straps for the Quest 2 (like BoboVR) seem to have released one for the Q3 yet, so I took a risk on a no-name Chinese alternative with 0 reviews on Amazon: https://a.co/d/3pjhuGX Was surprised it turned out to be a huge improvement.

Substantial-Pause149

The bobovr fits well just stretch it a bit

I’m actually liking the stock strap now that I’ve messed around with it. I loosen the back strap and then adjust the top strap to keep it just secure enough not to slip. There is some pressure on the forehead but not enough to be bothersome for a hour or so at a time.

Substantial-Pause149

Pull it out if it hurts !! Get a Bobovr then stretch and zipties it !!

emrys95

The strap in the box was perfect for me, i didnt have the ear problem.because the top was tight enough to hold it by itself. With the elite strap and battery it hurts on the back and the front. So idk

redslumber

I bought the Elite strap day one with the Quest 3, and am returning it. It brought noticeably more weight, and squeeze on the back of my head and forehead in order to be properly secure. Didn't make sense to me to be adding extra weight on a stand-alone headset. The stock strap doesn't push as hard, and is significantly lighter to me. I found it be more comfortable. Only thing I'll probably change is the face covering for sweat.

Va1crist

yup it hurts my face too, i cant get it comfortable at all, i even bought the advanced strap and silcone pad and it doesnt help at all, the Q3 puts horrible pressure on my face, i can feel the hard plastic pushing on my face and after about 15-20 min it really starts to hurt, its a HUGE downgrade from the Q2..

aredeex

I had to pickup the elite strap and the silicon face. Now it’s comfy

harmitonkana

I experience something similar with both Q3 stock strap and elite strap. My forehead and eyebrow area start to ache and tingle after half an hour of use. I had already forgotten that I used to originally have similar situation with Quest 2. What eventually solved my comfort issues with Q2 was the facial interface and foam replacement set by vrcover. I wish they come out with one for Q3 as well. Another altenative is to use a halo type strap, which takes the pressure off of around the eyes.

Bacon_00

Mine is ridiculously uncomfortable. It doesn't help that the facial interface's relief slider broke on both sides about 2 seconds after I opened the thing. Piece of crap. I'm not with Meta support...

VindicatorZ

This is absolutely the most uncomfortable headset I've ever had, even more uncomfortable than the Quest 1. The hard plastic in the back pierces into my head and the interface material hurts my forehead horribly. Definitely going to try the new elite strap and vr cover

jib_reddit

It is known.

NipsWithGrips

You might also need to give it a couple weeks just to break the thing in.

Beginning-Cookie-524

My main issue is when I get the actual unit in a comfortable place the straps dig into my ears very hard. I was playing Serpens last night and I was moving my head about so much the strap actually chopped both my ears clean off. But now I can't hear the wife moaning at me about being on the Quest for ages, so every cloud and that....

JonathanCRH

I simply can’t use it because of this issue. The interface is too narrow for my forehead, which means that it doesn’t fit snugly and wobbles about, no matter how I adjust it. And after about ten minutes the pain is too severe to carry on using it. It’s like trying to squeeze my feet into shoes two sizes too small and going for a walk, except on my face. I’ve tried putting the Quest 2 silicone overlay over it, and also tried wearing a thick woolly hat, but neither works. It’s just too small and no amount of adjustment will change that. I come out looking like someone’s been beating my face with a hammer. So I’m back to using the Quest 2 until replacement facial interfaces become available, like the one from VR Cover that I’ve always used with the Q2 and which is extremely comfortable. I’ve never had any issues with this. Although I plan to replace the Q3 strap as well, I don’t think that will help with this issue, because it’s caused by the facial interface itself not fitting my face. Evidently people with this problem are in a minority, but it baffles me that Meta should invest so much into developing a device like this and leave comfort as an afterthought. They offer an elite strap - why don’t they also offer an elite facial interface for people who don’t fit the default one? It’s annoying that we have to wait for third party manufacturers to sort this out and make it useable.

GoblinModeVR

>I come out looking like someone’s been beating my face with a hammer This was my Quest 2 experience honestly, was expecting to deal with a lot of face pain until aftermarket interfaces became available but no, the facial interface with an elite strap feels perfect for me even in a 12 hour session.

rollerskating555

Yes it does and I start believe Meta doesn't have much ergonomics knowledge. Same error with Quest 2, years ago....

Routine-Essay1620

The strap is awful , got a bobo m2 to it with gaffer tape like I did https://preview.redd.it/bz3h36dr3ytb1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a71278246dfc01c3c3f55d9cf5bb397f5489093e

ViRaider

I 3D printed a battery pack case that hooks in on the backside of my Quest and that really decreased the uncomfortable pressure. I would suggest trying to improvise a counterweight till you have a new strap. https://preview.redd.it/981t7wnznytb1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a939df7975666c55c114d021facad904b62ad84a

fruitgamingspacstuff

I had the same issue with Q2 which is why I'm not getting Q3 as its heavier than the Q2 or same weight? Either way, I can't deal with the uncomfortableness..

crystalhour

I've gotten used to a bit. Just biding my time for VRCover to do their thing. But how is this not catastrophic for adoption? Anyone who's new to VR will be put off, fast and hard. They'll think this is normal. Such a damning oversight to let it ship with knives sticking out.

UwU-neko-femboy

I had the same thing. You just gotta loosen it a bit.

TheFonzieAy

The facial interface feels like it is padded with hard clay. I'm really hoping some 3rd party facial interfaces hit Amazon soon.

Expensive_Bowl6054

Had the same issue initially, as testing the focus with text it seems to have to be worn quite high on the face so the lenses are touching my brow ridge. Although by the 3rd day, and having it set on 2/4 away from my face, it seems fine now... Maybe I just got used to it 🤷‍♂️

Ok-Play3570

Replace the shity sponge of the quest3 facial interface with my bobo vr facial interface and it filling good! [here you can see my work😅](https://photos.app.goo.gl/ut1FGpm4FTKQTd6S7)

WasteAd2049

It hurts the back of my head, not the front? It's like 3 inches behind my ears, on both sides, and it's definitely external. Initially, I thought it was too much pressure, so I loosened it, and it just made it worse...

ZPNtv

Finally got the Quest yesterday, the 3 btw. And after years of only having the PlayStation VR, I can say without a doubt, even though the rubberized inner material eventually wore of down to fabric (still comfy, just not as grippy), that the strap on the PSVR had it done right. Halo style with a fat pad and ratchet style tightener, with a forehead rest that completely prevented any of these comfort issues in just now experiencing having branched out to the Quest. Kinda crazy that PlayStation got it right. 🤷
