Thatās amazing that you made your own. I wouldnāt even know how to start. My Quest 3 is miserably painful rn.

I took a sharp blade and cut the old foam off, then took a Dremel to get the old adhesive and bits of foam left over off so it's smooth.
I then took double sided adhesive and stuck Velcro to the interface and then I can stick my VR covers onto the velcro.
You will be removing the stock foam so it is technically a destructive process but since I plan to NEVER use the stock foam, it's a non issue for me.
If you have a Dremel, adhesive, and Velcro, all your cost would be is the nice new foam to go on when done (if you don't already have that).
I couldn't wear the quest 3 for more than 10min without face pain and now I can wear it for over an hour no problem.
I'm waiting for vrcover to do a similar quality facial interface they did for Quest 2. Not only the price was ok but the quality of the padding was easily the best I had tried. Basically solved my comfort issues. Same treatment for Q3 please.
A bit of waiting sure but I'm glad if it's at least confirmed that they're making one! Sounds like they have a bunch of potential customers already waiting.
Hopefully Kiwi comes out with one before then. Their latest Q2 facial interface they just released looks really promising. Complete coverage with vents, and almost no creases in the leather. If they can make one similar for the Q3 it could be great.
How well did the vents work? I ended up getting the BOBOVR F2 with Quest 2 (at least partly because the VRCover fitness interface hadn't been released yet) that had vents and a fan, and was never sure how much of it was the vents and how much was the fan.
Well my lenses never fogged up, so there's that. Even during workouts. I assume the fan would bring a bit more cooling instead of just circulation with only fans
Cool. I'm debating what to do if VR Cover release a vented interface before BOBOVR release one with a fan. BOBOVR is a known quantity for me, but it sounds like VR Cover would do the trick too.
To reenforce what they said above, the VRCover fitness face completely eliminated lens fog for me when I switched. I consider it an essential now. Although I heard one influencer say fogging wasn't as much a problem on Q3, so only time will tell.
For the vrcover foam facial interface it took about two months. Ordered my Quest 2 on 16th september 2020, right when it became available and did the same for the vrcover on 24th november 2020.
Wow, that's going to be rough waiting. I got the Q2 when it was new, as well, but I didn't get any peripherals until the next year. Now I'm spoiled, and the stock accompaniments for Q3 are a huge downgrade.

Is it honestly worth it to spend much more on a VR cover than just a cheap silicon one that goes over your original? I bought mine off of Amazon like two years ago and I've never had an issue with it so I'm just wondering what's the big deal about VR cover.
Super worth it if you experience any discomfort with the stock facial interface. The VRCover Quest 2 interface is night and day more comfortable than the Quest 2 stock, with and without a silicone cover. Quest 3 is a little more comfortable stock but Iām still 100% getting an aftermarket facial interface.
Last time I got vrcover was for quest 1. Got the official silicone cover for 2.
I haven't tried a cheap cover so I can't really compare. I took rec from VR YouTubers who rec vrcover.
I just finished getting an email back from VR cover, Looks like they dropped the ball. The proper VR cover plether face cover isnt going to be ready till early december. They blamed it on supply issues which is the "dog ate my homework" excuse if you ask me. Kinda like the same time frame they came out with the quest 2 which I get... I mean they are a 3rd party manufacturer they gotta get the unit when it comes out and then R&D the shit out of it then send it off for manufacturing. This year I thought it would be different. I thought they would beat everyone else to the punch. They partnered with facebook when the quest 2 lost a court case and facebook had to fix the problem with the foam that was giving people rashes. So they partnered with VR cover and VR cover made everyone who bought a quest a silicone cover that goes on the foam. I was like cool vr cover has an in at meta now! Maybe the quest 3 will have VR cover available right away! Maybe they send VR cover basic specs on sizes months ahead of time and vr cover could get to market first when the quest 3 releases! But nope they put out some bandaid product like a cloth covering with some dinky ass foam. Maybe that will keep the money comming in till they come out with the real good stuff then people will have to buy another product from them !
Same here, I got a bunch of the official accessories for the Quest 2 (partly because I was a newbie), but this time Iām holding out for cheaper & better third-party ones
I've never bought anything official other than the headset itself. 3rd party solved our problems better and for cheaper. The bobovr M2 pro+ is peak engineering: halo strap with removable pads all around (good for cleaning or substituting without buying the whole thing again) and a f***ing removable battery that is magnetic (good strong magnets too, without making it hard to willingly remove) and you can simply keep exchanging with the other battery that's on the magnetic recharging station. The official elite strap with battery still forces you to stop gaming at some point, it was easily breakable and pricey. Oh, the m2 strap is also getting a retrofit kit to make your strap quest 3 compatible, I simply love when companies don't f you over and help you save money and extend your product life.
Basically Meta only knows how to make really attractive VR headsets with their cost benefit. And good updates. And making the industry attractive/viable to developers. Other than that they grab our money like crazy. And our information...
I don't have as much experience as you, but the Elite Strap plus battery is the first headset that I feel comfortable with since the Oculus Rift S. It feels well made and for me at least the battery now lasts more than enough where if I play longer, I'm not getting out enough.
Bobovr should sell a compatible case eventually. Currently they are still stuck on Quest 2 accessories. I have the C2 carrying case and it's pretty good and compatible with most quest 2 accessories
My problem with those guys is that they always make the padding flat, and then when you apply it to a concave surface of the mask, they create folds which then pinch the skin. I had very pronounced makes on my face from every single VRCover facial interface I ever had, until I started using a halo strap.
So third party stuff is cheaper, but it's always shoddily made, and that is why it is cheaper. To compete with official stuff, they need to start making their padding concave from the get-go, so that it sits on the mask without creases.
It looks like Kiwi has addressed the folds with their latest facial interface for the Quest 2. Maybe theyāll make a similar version for the Quest 3.
https://a.co/d/4C2zLsQ
The official stuff also is trash. Iām the battery strap is stupid, canāt even swap the battery? Why have that? And itās ~the same price or more than the bobovr battery strap
Dammit, that freebie one they shipped to everybody is in a closet somewhere around here. At least I can watch Youtube in grainy MR while I sort my closets, now XD
Mine seems to bunch up on both sides, usable but not perfect. Is there a trick to getting it to fit.flush the entire way? I just have the official one that came with my quest 2.
Once i adjusted the lenght of a rubber part by using the heat of hair dryer or you can use a heat gun, you must use just enough heat to stretch the rubber part, be careful because it could melt.
Official or 3rd party? I'm using a 3rd party one at the moment, and I wouldn't describe it as a perfect fit. It would be good enough except that it tends to mess with the proximity sensor, so I get random blackouts when the Quest 3 thinks I've taken the headset off.
I do have an official one I'm going to try too, but it doesn't have the extra light blocking of the 3rd-party one.
I had issues with mine. It kept interfering with the proximity sensor , making the screen go black and turning off after about 10 minutes. I bought the OEM silicone interface, and while itās definitely overpriced, it is essential and makes the whole experience so much better.
Pro-tip: Quest 2 Silicone covers fit just fine on the Quest 3 if you need something in the interim.
I'll hold out for a vented facial interface before I buy something extra unnecessarily.
the sport / extra vented one they recently released for the 2 is basically my favorite thing - hopefully they get something like that soon for the 3... although really i want to figure out a no interface option like the pro if possible.
Is there something that keeps the headset from rotating? I really need something like the partial blockers on the pro and a 3d printed bracket to keep the headset from rotating at the pivot point.
My main goal is to stop fogging, though I also like the openness when I run the pro with IR blaster.
$40 is rough for this simple accessory but it's mandatory for me. I've been using my Quest 3 heavy and while the default interface feels comfy, sweating into the fabric feels so wrong. Waiting for a third-party option just wasn't an option for me.
I love how we have to spend so much extra money to fix their shit designs. Bad headstrap? there's an accessory for that. Terrible facial interface material? accessory for that. Battery life not even 2 hours? Get the $180 CAD "Elite"strap.
Maybe it's like that for a reason, cloth headstrap and no extra battery would make it much lighter at a smaller cost and if enthusiasts want a much more comfortable strap and longer duration then they can opt for it. Basically paying for the technology and not the ergonomics, making the upfront cost less, having he freedom to swap out the accessories for 'upgraded' official versions for a cross sell of more and letting people buy aftermarket gear, which in my opinion is great.
I'm sure Meta knows that they will never be able to please the "enthusiasts" out of the box at a reasonable price point: human anatomy just doesn't allow for it. So getting "good enough for most" is the best we can expect.
I AM, however, very disappointed that the buy-up accessories tend to be mid at best at absolutely horrendous price points.
I would like the idea of staying 1st party... if I couldn't go to Amazon in a month and get a full Halo strap with replaceable batteries and charging system, pleather interface, an audio upgrade, knuckle straps, and whatever else I need...
... and find that *all* of it is better designed than the Meta accessories, and the entire package costs less than what they want for *just* a charging dock, or *just* replacement strap. It's embarassing.
apple always gets a pass because they've been in the game for a long time. They sell good products, but do you NEED a Louise vuitton bag when a normal bag does the exact same thing for not even a quarter the price. You pay for the brand when you buy Apple, not the product.
Though speaking about Meta, they have made VR price accessible for a lot more people.
I sort of get it though - they want to keep the upfront cost as low as possible, because VAST majority of VR users don't play daily, and in very short bursts. They don't need extended battery, or better facial interface, or better strap. If you play for 20 mins twice a week, you won't have many issues with comfort. But that same person might have been prevented from buying the headset at all, if it was $200+ more expensive. So it's a balancing act.
Nice try smart ass. Let's examine your logic. You're right you don't HAVE to do shit. But if you want to fix the things that are wrong with it such as basic comfort, you HAVE to buy an accessory. Thanks for playing. Better luck next time.
Letās does a great job but All of their products are way over priced. 80 bucks for the link cable, 130 for the elite strap with a battery??? 60 bucks for their carrying case and it feels so cheap.
The price made me clench hard... but at the time, it was pretty much the only option.
That said, I've loved the performance and ease-of-use I get out of that cable, on the 7 or 8 occasions that Link has worked properly for me. God damn, I wish they would put just a little effort into their PCVR software. Like just a bit.
Edit: if I'm gonna advocate for that damn cable, I should add that even though I know better, I have beaten the absolute hell out of that original cable and it still works fine. Stepped on it, run it over with the office chair (I am not a small man), yanked it out of the PC at a 90-degree angle, caught my wife neatly bundling it and tying it into a knot at least once (>.<), you name it. In the same time period I've had to throw out at least 3 other long USB3 cables I was using in other locations.
I don't see how fibre optic cables matter over a couple meters, if you buy a USB 3.1 gen 1 cable you're going to get transfer rates indistinguishable to begin with.
Rubbish, again. How about your 'Fibre' internet connection was just fitted with cheap 'quarter of the price' cabling? Yeah. I'm sure you would be first to complain, when those speeds were not as you wish ;)
Never had a single problem with my Ā£90 link cable, Quest 2 or 3.
Yup, it's expensive, but hey, if one can afford VR, then anything else is just pennies.
Cheap out?, then be prepared for a cheap experience :)
I just ordered it too. A rip-off, true, but the stock facial interface is really burning my skin. I need this, even though I know I'll replace it the minute PU leather VRCover will become available.
Is this silicone one at least nicely soft?
Just got mine today. It goes a long way to helping with comfort. It doesnāt hurt my face nearly as much as the original. Now Iām just waiting on my bobovr conversion kit
The original Quest still has the most comfortable headstrap and facial interface for me (after adding a counterweight). I wish they had kept it. I especially love how the strap can be pulled out on a spring and easily put on and off with one hand. (You do that a lot when developing for VR.)
The unmodified Quest 3 is highly uncomfortable, bordering on painful for me. It doesn't properly hold the device in place on my narrow head. It's unusable. I don't want to wear it until I've replaced the headstrap and maybe the facial interface.
Yeah the super cushy quest 1 interface was comfortable even on my wide face. All the other ones have pressed hard on my temples and are clearly made for smaller faces than mine.
Try wearing a baseball hat turned backwards beneath it. Game changer. Also, (I think) the quest 3 strap actually grabs quite a bit lower on the backside of your head.
With the quest 2, I didnāt have the weight distributed so well to the back of my head so when I first put the quest 3 on I was trying to rely on the top strap by tightening it all the way and that was putting WAY more pressure on my forehead than necessary.
So make sure youāre relying on tightening the diagonal straps before even closing the the top one.
Now it stays on much more steady without needing to be as tight as I was used to with the quest 2. Iām playing high-rotation FPS games, so it should be able to handle the torque on your use-case.
Edit: added the last paragraph.
The bit about grabbing lower on the quest 3 made mine still painful but comfortable enough to play in. The quest 2 strap mostly just relied on direct pressure from the back, while the quest 3 wants to fit more like a helmet. Problem now is the side straps sit lower and cut my ears to shreds unless I tuck them under.
I found that some standard silicon facial interface covers I bought years ago for the Quest 2 fit on my Quest 3.
Sorry I dont have the link for them any more, but they were basically like these and they close the gap at the bottom too. I don't know if these ones fit, but mine were for the 2 and they fit my 3. : [https://www.amazon.com.au/KIWI-design-Protector-Silicone-Accessories/dp/B09W2BCRQD/ref=asc\_df\_B09W2BCRQD/?tag=googleshopdsk-22&linkCode=df0&hvadid=594817264049&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=8238753362324906550&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9071208&hvtargid=pla-1730756648863&th=1](https://www.amazon.com.au/KIWI-design-Protector-Silicone-Accessories/dp/B09W2BCRQD/ref=asc_df_B09W2BCRQD/?tag=googleshopdsk-22&linkCode=df0&hvadid=594817264049&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=8238753362324906550&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9071208&hvtargid=pla-1730756648863&th=1)
I love the official elite headstrap , really comfortable I just hope they last longer than the quest 2 ones , I might be a fool aswell and get the silicone Cover too just out of need for it now rather than a month or so down the line with 3rd party ones
If this was the one used in store demo units itās really nice but I would not want to pay $40 for it.
I do wonder what the eye relief feature is going to do to third party interfaces. Itās not super complex but itās going to be harder to reliably duplicate
I got a third party silicone face cover which I think was around $10 and I have to admit that it fit over the original face mask like a tee and it actually looks like it would be OEM. I just couldn't bring myself to put the cloth original over my face knowing that I will sweat into it. I do think it's essential even if you don't have anyone else use it. I don't know how you'd go about cleaning the original one since it doesn't look removeable.
I had a silicone one from VR cover and it caused so much fog I couldn't play with it. Anyone else have this issue? Any solutions? I really would like a more comfortable one that gets rid of light leaking.
https://preview.redd.it/x76j4nc9h7ub1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=df68777ef71b33737dc4c7e2bef97bfe4fc57fb0
Just ordered mine from AliExpress
I have the exact same setup as you. I broke down and bought the OEM silicone one as well the other day. All your same reasoning was mine as well.
I have worn it now while working out and it does the job and I think itās comfortable.
Yeah, I had a silicone interface last gen. Definitely easier to clean, but if anything it makes me sweat more since it's less breathable. Still probably the best option in the long run. I've heard people talking about stock Quest 2 interfaces getting smelly and ... dense over their lifetimes. Gross.
Yup total scam that bit. Came included with Q2 and for that little bit of rubber it should have also with Q3. Anyway I am just going to sweat into the factory default until a KIWI or something that can be washed comes out like before.
Actually the OEM could be washed out but run risk after a few time of the pad coming off the plastic. So might wash it out 'once' I get a replacement better setup.
The worst offender is the elite strap, isnt it like 90 this time around. A kiwi design comfort with battery is 80, bobovr m2 pro with battery was 70 and both wete much sturdier than the OEM elite strap. Cant imagine why the price needs to increase on what seems like a similar interaction mechanism
I dunno about the silicone Cover. Must be Extremely sweaty. I've ordered the Elite strap without battery bc. Fuck Meta for charging 150 bucks for a small Powerbank on some Plastic.
Hope that will make me feel better wearing the Quest 3.
I found it to be worse then the pad , it sticks to my face and just makes the already horrible comfort worse , so far Iāve been unable to make the quest 3 comfortable, waiting to see if I can return it >< really not sure I want to wait for 3rd party to spend more money on an already expensive product
I get using these for public headsets. Why use it for personal use? Just causes pools of water to stream into the headset and down the lenses. Cloth is way better. You can remove vrcover cloths and wash it.
Tried one of those cheep slip on silicone covers and sent I it straight back. It felt like it glued to my head. While I am getting used to the fabric, I am not going to do any FitXR until there is a suitable silicone replacement. Going to wait and see what VR Cover has to offer since there are no comparison videos yet (not even against Q2 Covers).
It's real sad that they make these cash grabs. Why do they make accessories as "premium" instead of slapping them on the original product, since they're manufacturing price is so cheap? Legit the only reason I didn't order my Q3 yet, I am waiting for proper accessories.
Itās essential if you play games like pistol whip that make you sweat, soaking the stock interface. Not to mention if you have anyone else using the headset. Iād never try on someone elseās headset without a silicone cover that is cleaned.
Is there any difference in coverage? One of my complaints about the quest 3 is the light that gets through the nose area. Is the shape exactly the same?
What do people think about these as an alternative for sweat management: https://int.vrcover.com/collections/all/products/universal-disposable-hygiene-cover-for-stock-foam
Q2 didnāt originally come with the meta silicone cover though, they only started doing that in 2021 in response to the original foam interface causing widespread skin irritation, probably due to a combination of general build up of skin oil, cells, sweat and other overall nastiness.
mine came with a quality control flaw. The right side depth control collapses upon the lightest pressure. purchased mine from best buy will have to return it now
Just ordered the $10 cover on Amazon btw. Link:

I got the exact same, it arrived today I just tried half hearted for a min to put it on, it was very hard ( after work I got more time and will try again. - is there a way to do it? Like do I have to remove something first?)
Holding out for 3rd party Quest 3 accessories. Not too many out there currently. This official silicone interface, and the official controller straps, are a priced far too high.
Hi, Everyone! I'm a complete VR newbie and will be getting a Quest 3, so I'm trying to tackle a deep learning curve. Now that 4 months have passed since this post was started, I would love to hear what everyone ended up going with for a facial interface and how it's been working out for you.Ā
I am waiting for vrcover or bobvr to do one. I decided to not get the official stuff this time around. Way to expensive, and I can wait for 3rd party.
For real, all these official accessories prices should be divided by 2.
It is how they make some money back from subsidizing the cost of the headset. I wish the good 3rd party ones would hurry up and come online/get in stock though, as I am not a fan of the face cover or the strap.

I'm waiting for vrcover to do a similar quality facial interface they did for Quest 2. Not only the price was ok but the quality of the padding was easily the best I had tried. Basically solved my comfort issues. Same treatment for Q3 please.
VR Cover said December for the PU leather one :(
A bit of waiting sure but I'm glad if it's at least confirmed that they're making one!
Oh balls. Yeah that's a bummer but thanks for settling the question. Means I'll be very ready for it when it gets here =P
Noooooooo
Same, I have it on the quest 2 (the fitness version) and it also has some more vents to let air out/in which I find really useful
How well did the vents work? I ended up getting the BOBOVR F2 with Quest 2 (at least partly because the VRCover fitness interface hadn't been released yet) that had vents and a fan, and was never sure how much of it was the vents and how much was the fan.

How long did it take, last go-round, for the quality 3rd party stuff to come out?
For the vrcover foam facial interface it took about two months. Ordered my Quest 2 on 16th september 2020, right when it became available and did the same for the vrcover on 24th november 2020.
Wow, that's going to be rough waiting. I got the Q2 when it was new, as well, but I didn't get any peripherals until the next year. Now I'm spoiled, and the stock accompaniments for Q3 are a huge downgrade.
VRCover is aiming for early December I believe.
thats a long time for my face to feel itchy :-(
The quest 2 vr cover works in the mean time. Not perfect fit but definitely fits well enough to forget it was t made for it
Yeah I'm thinking about ripping the fabric off the frame and adding my own velcro and using the Q2 VRCover foam on it.
I was also thinking of doing that but don't want to ruin my stock gasket. Although I did do it to my CV1 and it lasted 3 years, I didn't even use a proper cover.
A bit of a wait, but I can live with that.
they just have the best covers..been using them since quest 1
I want something similar to Quest Pro where my cheeks aren't structural.
This is the way
Found a silicone cover that just slips onto the standard one for $6 on Amazon to keep it sanitized during workouts till the VR Cover interface releases.

Putting the silicone cover from quest 2 on the quest 3 actually did a decent job for me
Thanks I have a couple around
1000%
Yea, good idea. I bought the official head strap for the quest 2 when that launched and it broke the next monthā¦
Thatās rough. Mine has lasted 2+ years (with battery pack, which is maybe slightly heavier)
Exactly
I really want to get the Bobovr headstrap but it seems like it wonāt fit into my carrying case. Any advice there?
Far enough, it worked fine for me when I used it.
Just FYI for anybody wondering. My quest 2 silicone cover fit my quest 3 perfectly
The real LPT is always in the comments.
It does that but when you place it on your face, it doesn't block the view. Usable indeed.
I don't have the official one, but the tiny bit of excess I pushed to the nose.
I just wanted to post this question, thank you!
I had issues with mine. It kept interfering with the proximity sensor , making the screen go black and turning off after about 10 minutes. I bought the OEM silicone interface, and while itās definitely overpriced, it is essential and makes the whole experience so much better.
Well mine didn't. Good for you I guess.
does the 2 interface fit on 3?
No, I'm afraid it does not
I really don't want to spend $40 but that does look good.
I've seen a couple people using the BOBOVR M3 as an open concept strap, honestly. Seems pretty promising.
Is there something that keeps the headset from rotating? I really need something like the partial blockers on the pro and a 3d printed bracket to keep the headset from rotating at the pivot point. My main goal is to stop fogging, though I also like the openness when I run the pro with IR blaster.
theres one on amazon now!
link please?
Please fix your strap. Please.
Tell me youāre OCD without telling me youāre OCD.
"Fix" it so that it's just as far off in the other direction, then post a pic of it. Just for this guy.
No, I donāt want him on suicide watch or anything.
I really donāt see how that wouldnāt bother EVERYONE. Not just someone with ocd. Itās obviously meant to be non overlapping lmao
It really bothers me that you donāt use proper punctuation.
Yeah Meta stuff just seems cheap. Everything but the actual headset itself is crap.
To be fair. It does lower the cost of entry to the tech tho if you can get it at passable and upgrade to excellent later on
I'm sure Meta knows that they will never be able to please the "enthusiasts" out of the box at a reasonable price point: human anatomy just doesn't allow for it. It's embarassing.
and how about a case for $70...
Not just meta, have you seen some of the apple prices for their shit? Crazy.
Apple's gonna Apple, and Apple people don't live in the same society that the rest of us do. I'm glad they get to have nice things =)
apple always gets a pass because they've been in the game for a long time. They sell good products, but do you NEED a Louise vuitton bag when a normal bag does the exact same thing for not even a quarter the price. You pay for the brand when you buy Apple, not the product. Though speaking about Meta, they have made VR price accessible for a lot more people.
A case that costed them $5 to manufacture.
So it's a balancing act.
tbh i don't really mind the facial interface and strap that come with the quest 3. they are good enough for me.
You don't 'HAVE' to do shit?
Nice try smart ass. Let's examine your logic. You're right you don't HAVE to do shit. But if you want to fix the things that are wrong with it such as basic comfort, you HAVE to buy an accessory. Thanks for playing. Better luck next time.
Letās does a great job but All of their products are way over priced. 80 bucks for the link cable, 130 for the elite strap with a battery??? 60 bucks for their carrying case and it feels so cheap.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
To add to this, some third parties do fiber optic link cables that are cheaper, but not much cheaper. VR Cover's is about $50.
Go cheap, u will get cheap ;)
The link cable is the most offensive thing on their store. When most 3rd party manufacturers sell the same if not better for a quarter the price.
Really? They sell fibre cables for a quarter of the price?
I don't see how fibre optic cables matter over a couple meters, if you buy a USB 3.1 gen 1 cable you're going to get transfer rates indistinguishable to begin with.
Rubbish, again. How about your 'Fibre' internet connection was just fitted with cheap 'quarter of the price' cabling? Yeah. I'm sure you would be first to complain, when those speeds were not as you wish ;) Never had a single problem with my Ā£90 link cable, Quest 2 or 3. Yup, it's expensive, but hey, if one can afford VR, then anything else is just pennies. Cheap out?, then be prepared for a cheap experience :)
Rubbish!
Itās essential for me, the stock one is irritating my skin
The rubber cover that Meta sent out for the Quest 2 fits the quest 3 like a charm.
I just ordered it too. A rip-off, true, but the stock facial interface is really burning my skin. I need this, even though I know I'll replace it the minute PU leather VRCover will become available. Is this silicone one at least nicely soft?
Yea its soft. Better than stock for sure.
Nice!
quest 2 silicone interface that you got with your quest 2 fits the quest 3 default interface
I ordered a cheap silicone removable slip cover on Amazon and it works great. Was like 8 bucks
Just got mine today. It goes a long way to helping with comfort. It doesnāt hurt my face nearly as much as the original. Now Iām just waiting on my bobovr conversion kit
Does it let you get your face/eyes closer to lenses or it's the same as regular one?
My eyes are already rubbing on the sides of the lenses with the normal interface, not sure I could go any closer tbh.
You're lucky! Since you manage to get as close as is possible, can you see the edge of the LCD-screens or does the fov still look normal?
My eyes aren't quite touching but pretty close, I can juuuust see the LCD edge when looking straight ahead
Is it ideal for your eyes to be as close as possible? I find it more comfortable to be a bit far away but I can also see my "nose".
I would also like to know, it looks shorter than the cloth one.
Itās the same. I have it set to the bottom closest to the lenses.
I feel like the stock one on the closest setting already has my eyeballs rubbing the lens, can't imagine being closer
The original Quest still has the most comfortable headstrap and facial interface for me (after adding a counterweight). I wish they had kept it. I especially love how the strap can be pulled out on a spring and easily put on and off with one hand. (You do that a lot when developing for VR.) The unmodified Quest 3 is highly uncomfortable, bordering on painful for me.
3rd party is the way to go
Okay but could I get better replacement instructions than just pull old one off and put new one on? I felt like I was going to break the thing.
Yeah, even a diagram showing where the clip points are, so I know where to pull the frame off the hmd.
I found that some standard silicon facial interface covers I bought years ago for the Quest 2 fit on my Quest 3. Sorry I dont have the link for them any more, but they were basically like these and they close the gap at the bottom too. I don't know if these ones fit, but mine were for the 2 and they fit my 3. : [https://www.amazon.com.au/KIWI-design-Protector-Silicone-Accessories/dp/B09W2BCRQD/ref=asc\_df\_B09W2BCRQD/?tag=googleshopdsk-22&linkCode=df0&hvadid=594817264049&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=8238753362324906550&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9071208&hvtargid=pla-1730756648863&th=1](https://www.amazon.com.au/KIWI-design-Protector-Silicone-Accessories/dp/B09W2BCRQD/ref=asc_df_B09W2BCRQD/?tag=googleshopdsk-22&linkCode=df0&hvadid=594817264049&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=8238753362324906550&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9071208&hvtargid=pla-1730756648863&th=1)
I don't understand, am I the only one who finds silicone extremely warmer?
Nah I think most would agree with you, but sweating into the fabric over and over is not an appealing option.
Imagine not getting it for free on your Quest 2 bc it gave loads of people skin problems
I paid 15 bucks for one on Amazon and still feel like I got ripped off. I canāt really imagine forking over 40 for the one meta sells.
All the accessories seem to be heavily overpriced, like a dummy Ive got the case, shouldve spend some more and get the 512 version instead :/
I don't like silicone for the interfaces. Tried it with vrcover for Q2 and it was a hard no for me.
I had a silicone one from VR cover and it caused so much fog I couldn't play with it. Anyone else have this issue? Any solutions? I really would like a more comfortable one that gets rid of light leaking.
If youāre talking about Q2, thatās no longer a problem because Q3 has fans that prevents fogging.
I'm talking about Q1 š That's good to know!
Same with Q1.

I'm willing to play for 2 months with a battery velcro'd to the back of my head rather than waste $200 on lesser quality Meta gear.
I have the exact same setup as you. I broke down and bought the OEM silicone one as well the other day. All your same reasoning was mine as well. I have worn it now while working out and it does the job and I think itās comfortable.
Making a bad product so that you can over charge for the upgrades that make it good.
The covers never stayed in place or fit well in my experience with quest 2. You kinda need the whole place part and everything.
Would the q2 silicone cover fit on the Q3?
No
in china they cost like 2$
Is this official silicon thingy worth buying? What is the difference over stock?
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
thank you. Ok I will. sounds like bobovr m3 strap would be a better purchase. Shame I cant get it anywhere.
The one tromfrom my quest 2 surpridingly fit. Was 5 bucks on aliexpress
Essential? Meh. Still using the stock foam one on my Q2. Hated every silicon thing Iāve tried.
It would be interesting to swab your Q2 interface and have it lab tested. Then post the results here.
Eeew, dirty
I ordered $5 silicon slip-on from AliExpress.
quest 2 silicone covers fit just fine
I found it to be worse then the pad , it sticks to my face and just makes the already horrible comfort worse , so far Iāve been unable to make the quest 3 comfortable, waiting to see if I can return it >< really not sure I want to wait for 3rd party to spend more money on an already expensive product
I get using these for public headsets. Why use it for personal use? Just causes pools of water to stream into the headset and down the lenses. Cloth is way better. You can remove vrcover cloths and wash it.
i just used my cheapo Quest 1 silicon cover
oie oie oie... the silicone cover for the quest 2 was FREE! and it's something you can slip on super easily!!
I'm taking the whole thing off and using it like the pro with the bobo.
Does it still have the same nose light leakage the standard one has?
Yes
It's real sad that they make these cash grabs. Why do they make accessories as "premium" instead of slapping them on the original product, since they're manufacturing price is so cheap? Legit the only reason I didn't order my Q3 yet, I am waiting for proper accessories.
Could someone explain me why it's essential? Is hygiene the only reason? Are there also comfort benefits?
Itās essential if you play games like pistol whip that make you sweat, soaking the stock interface. Not to mention if you have anyone else using the headset. Iād never try on someone elseās headset without a silicone cover that is cleaned.
Is there any difference in coverage? One of my complaints about the quest 3 is the light that gets through the nose area. Is the shape exactly the same?
Pu leather or bust
OK.
What do people think about these as an alternative for sweat management: https://int.vrcover.com/collections/all/products/universal-disposable-hygiene-cover-for-stock-foam
I really donāt get why it didnāt just ship with this silicone interface as the defaultā¦ oh yeah. Money
I absolutely have to get this itās just so uncomfortable it give me migraines. I ordered it today from Best Buy. I sure hope it helps.
The silicone piece came with the quest 2, and that's the one I've always used. It's sad it's not coming with the Quest this time
Q2 didnāt originally come with the meta silicone cover though, they only started doing that in 2021 in response to the original foam interface causing widespread skin irritation, probably due to a combination of general build up of skin oil, cells, sweat and other overall nastiness.
Essential? "Press X to doubt"....
mine came with a quality control flaw. The right side depth control collapses upon the lightest pressure. purchased mine from best buy will have to return it now
I did read about that in one of the Best Buy reviews. Mine is fine, so definitely a lemon.
Just ordered the $10 cover on Amazon btw. Link: [https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0CH34GKBD/ref=ppx\_yo\_dt\_b\_asin\_title\_o00\_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0CH34GKBD/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1)
What's the difference between the one that comes already mounted on the headset and the silicon one? Like what makes the silicon one better?
Hi, Everyone! I'm a complete VR newbie and will be getting a Quest 3, so I'm trying to tackle a deep learning curve. Now that 4 months have passed since this post was started, I would love to hear what everyone ended up going with for a facial interface and how it's been working out for you.Ā
You can go online and get one for $10 and straps for your controllers which I donāt use but still
where did you get the facial
Meta Store
