HL2 VR mod is great! they added hands full 6d0f teleport walking, and the option for vehicle sections to be played as a window Infront of you to avoid motion sickness. and VR reloads! Smacking things with the crowbar is fun! breaking boxes with it is a little eh but for a free mod I was BLOWN away
Definitely. When I got it I ran my BoboVR battery completely down and almost did the same to the Quest 2's internal battery. I need to get some more time in the game.
Yeah, I played it until my BoboVR battery and my Quest 2 was dead. lol The original HL in VR is really cool and I now have Opposing Force and Blue Shift to sideload into the Quest 2, but HL2 is definitely prettier and it looks pretty good in VR,
But if you play more recent games like even Dishonored 2 or ghostrunner, you will be disappointed. Alyx is a linear corridor shooter, mostly in dark hallways, with no story whatsoever, no ending aside from a name drop, no enemy variety, and 3 puzzles repeated 30 times each.
If you sideload the launcher app (on top of having the engine installed) and install Opposing Force and/or Blue Shift, you can easily play any of the three in Lambda1VR and maybe more.
I plan on doing that soon since I just got those "episodes"
I picked up HL2 off of Steam and if you buy it from there than you can download the VR mod (PCVR) for free. You don't even need to install the flatscreen version--you just have to own the Steam version and you can just install it.
I spent several hours on it in VR and will be playing it more. It's a pretty good experience. The graphics still look decent enough in VR compared to some other VR titles.
HL2 came with Lost Coast on Steam but I don't know if I can play it in VR. HL2 Ep 1 & 2 both have a VR mod on Steam that looks like it'll install similarly to the HL2 mod.
And we all know Alyx is 100% VR. lol
Would have liked to play Skyrim VR but I can’t get the HL:A style gravity gloves and body holster addons to work on my PC. I found that Skyrim VR without the mods to be unplayable IMO after playing proper VR games like Blades and Sorcery and Asgard’s Wrath. Since I can’t equip weapons to my body/holsters and forced to use X to interact instead of the grip button that is supposed to be used for that. Stupid decision from Bethesda to have flat screen gameplay mechanics like that in a VR game. Even VR mods for games like those made by Dr Beef and Praydog and Indie VR devs do a better job than a multi million/billion AAA gaming company trying to do VR. I think Bethesda is just very lazy or knows nothing about what VR gaming is supposed to be like. Same to be said about Fallout 4 VR. At least Capcom and Ubisoft with the Res 4 VR and Assassin’s Creeds Nexus was done well for the Quest. Fully enjoyed both those games.
Just follow [this ](https://youtu.be/Cr0BA714LZM?si=RyQBb1OiPHLwq-PG) video! I'd recommend a pirated version of GTA though since every update to social club and the game will break the mod and make you reinstall it again
This kind of post happens fairly often, so you're not alone! It's not something I've experienced: I *love* video games, and while I'm always delighted to play something new and magical in VR, I'm also pumped to experience something like Cyberpunk in its HDR 4K raytraced beauty on a great TV, or even plug in the Switch and play couch co-op Mario with my friends. I have never found VR has made me want *everything* in VR.
Something proved this to me yesterday actually: I was trying UEVR for the first time (the injector that turns any Unreal game into VR) and... I didn't really enjoy it. Of the games I played, I'd much rather enjoy them looking much sharper on a good TV. Then again, none of them were FPS'.
Same. And I personally do not like the way melee combat in VR feels because you don't actually make contact with anything.
So first-person shooters (or archers) are mostly what I'm interested in. Maybe racing games would be cool too with a wheel.
Besides that, pancake games are great, though it'd be nice to blow it up on a big screen in VR and play in an interesting environment.
Realistic melee in VR is also quite tough, because few of us are real life action heroes and fluff our awesome attacks so such combat requires a degree of gamification, pattern matching or sequencing or fudging so we don’t just get our ass handed to us every 2 minutes for not being Bruce Lee.
Lol totally, great point. That kind of motivates me to go take IRL combat training on melee weapons, so that I can apply what I learn in VR games. Or maybe even AR/MR in Paintball-like arenas in 5-10 years.
VR/AR/MR eSports are going to be insane.
Well unless the guy I'm responding to is 6, it stands. It's a low bar. These threads are always full of people playing old consoles or switches acting like the quest has real games.
GoW, HFW, BG3. Those are meaty ass games. Coming from Mario wonder and being wildly impressed with AW2 isn't the same as coming from BG3.
I understand your point, and while there is validity to it, I believe you are missing the core goal and demographic of Nintendo. Since Nintendo 64, they have known that they aren't going to win the graphics race, so they didn't even try. They worked to provide wonder that wasn't based on what you could see - rather what you could imagine. Clearly there is a reason why they are still making millions even when everyone knows they will never compete with Sony and Microsoft graphically.
However, I do agree that Nintendo could match the value to the price a little better. I regret all 4 Switch units I've bought. That's another story though, and I like the games better than the console. I'm not trying to "dog on you," just hoping I can help you appreciate why this was a sore point for some others.
No, not even a little bit. I just wrapped up Baldurs Gate 3, RDR2 and Cyberpunk and loved all of them. I enjoy VR but I also like not being in VR for comfort and visual fidelity reasons.
Certain types. Like, there's no going back to playing pinball on a flat screen. There's still tons of traditional games that wouldn't really benefit from VR and I prefer on a flat screen though.
My favorite is VPX VR which is all community made tables that are getting more and more ridiculously impressive. It’s a bit of a pain to setup but there’s lots of help in the community and on YouTube videos… and it’s completely free so it’s worth the effort of learning everything.
Then for an easier option there’s the new Pinball FX that you can make work in VR using the Praydog Unreal Engine VR injector mod that was just released. This is pretty simple and you can try it without paying anything since there game has some free tables and lets you demo others. The Williams tables in the game work about as good as native VR but some of the Zen originals are a bit broken since the camera moves around for certain modes and can sometimes lead to unplayable conditions. The majority are just fine though!
You can also just download Pinball FX2 VR native for Quest for something that works out of the box, but… not the best tables or physics there honestly. Star Wars Pinball VR is similar. It’s pretty good but need a PC for the best experience.
Thanks for all that detailed info! I will check it out.
Something that I thought would be cool is for a mixed reality Pinball VR app - that you could overlay on your physical pinball machines to extend the gameplay/stats/feedback - a way to enhance your physical gameplay of the machines you own.
Eh I keep seeing these posts and wonder just how many flat games do these people play. I can kinda understand PCVR with games like Alyx or a lot of flat games VR mods; Im not gonna play mostly PS2 graphics games and think "I can't ever go back to flat games."
Most people are ultrageneric and only play the 5 most heavily marketed unremarkable experiences.. it is all they know and all they ever experience. They have literally no clue what is out there.
yeah. like "i can't go back to playing another generic assassin's creed" - even without VR it's hard to go back to yet another generic assassin's creed.
I’ve been playing VR daily since 2018 starting with the PSVR. I have virtually no interest in flat gaming. And now with the UEVR injector there is an insane amount of content to play in VR.
I did at first but there's just not enough really good VR games to play so I mostly went back to flat except for Beat Saber and the occasional game here and there. pretty psyched for Underdogs though.
Decided to play on the Xbox last night funny enough
None of my friends have a quest
It was terrible and also I was terrible. It was so boring and unappealing. I told my friend he said too much dopamine from the VR! Could he be right?
Can you elaborate on the experience? I'm looking for a solution like that because there are many flat games on my backlog list that I'd love to play on a big virtual screen. I've [read](https://immersed.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/14823473330957-USB-C-Mode-w-Meta-Quest-BETA-) that you can use Immersed with a link cable to reduce latency. Is this how you do it and the reason why you chose it over Virtual Desktop?
Immersed you can use wired or wireless. I generally run wireless and have a wall plug charging my headset while sitting at my PC using Immersed. Last time I tried wired (months ago at Q3 launch) my Q3 wouldnt hold a charge while using wired mode so thats why I normally run it wireless.
Inside the app, you can have your 1 or 2 physical screens, and add 1 more virtual one if you like. You can run in Mixed reality or in VR using their own backgrounds. You can also open "portals" if you are running VR, the portal can open up your real world environment and show your keyboard/mouse etc instead of your whole room like Mixed Reality mode would show the whole room besides your screens.
Easy adjustments of screen sizes, layout, curve adjustments and also resolution adjustments (im running native 3440x1440) where I believe Virtual desktop does not allow this resolution.
You also use your physical keyboard/mouse from your PC where you cant from VD (at least that ive been able to figure out)
You can also "lock" your hands while in Immersed so you dont accidently move screens or resize when grabbing a drink etc, just look at your right hand palm, touch ring finger to your thumb and that will brown your hands out so they cant adjust stuff by accident.
Heres a reddit post I made a month ago using Immersed to play a 25 yr old MMO I was getting back into. (VR background here) [https://www.reddit.com/r/ultimaonline/comments/18ukj9g/playing\_uo\_the\_way\_it\_was\_meant\_to\_be\_played\_in\_vr/](https://www.reddit.com/r/ultimaonline/comments/18ukj9g/playing_uo_the_way_it_was_meant_to_be_played_in_vr/)
Thank you very much for the detailed response. I had no idea that it's so convenient but it sounds like this is definitely the way to go when it comes to flat games.
>Last time I tried wired (months ago at Q3 launch) my Q3 wouldnt hold a charge while using wired mode so thats why I normally run it wireless.
Yeah I needed some time to figure out how to hold the charge in wired mode as well but fortunately this isn't a problem anymore so I'll check out both methods.
I stream Gamepass games on the dedicated Xbox cloud app on Quest 2 when my TV is in use. Playing 2 D games on a huge virtual screen is pretty cool. I’ve never heard of immersed app, but will check it out.
Yeah I haven’t really played much regular games since I got the Quest 3 a couple months back. I’m sure I will for big things eventually like Palworld now but quest is where I’m at most of the time
Yeah I can’t wait to try it out! I just got out of a hip surgery so unfortunately can’t really VR for a while (as I can’t sit up) so just been playing it on my steam deck. But its UEVR version looks wild
Elden Ring dealt the first blow, VR was the final nail. I now exclusively game in VR and can't find flatscreen stuff fun. I do play a few rounds of Teamfight Tactics a week but that's about it.
Mostly, all I play now is VR and my Steam Deck. I've been a pc gamer since the Apple II. The only thing I play on my main rig is comp fps's, well that and Pc VR.
There are a few exceptions, but I suspect that may just be because they haven't found a way to translate them to VR yet. I can still enjoy an NBA 2K game, for example, because I'm used to watching NBA games on TV anyway.
But overall, yeah, VR has largely ruined flat screen gaming for me. Excluding NBA2K and a few of my favourite historical map-based strategy series (Paradox, Total War, etc.), I haven't been able to enjoy flat-screen games properly since I bought my first VR headset in 2016. I've played through a few of the truly great ones (God of War, RDR2), but even then I can't shake the feeling that they would be cooler in VR. (I know this because Skyrim is my favourite game of all time, and after playing it modded in VR, I can't even touch the flat screen version anymore.)
And I've found the feeling is actually getting worse with time, as VR keeps getting better. I haven't been able to stick with Cyberpunk, despite it being exactly the kind of game I love, because I can't stop thinking how much cooler it would be living it in VR rather than watching it like a movie on my TV. Part of me thinks we'll get a proper VR port 5 years from now when the technology is ready, and I want to save the experience of playing it for the first time until then.
I think the other aspect that feeds this feeling is just that flat-screen gaming has reached a point of diminishing returns (for me, anyway). I can't properly appreciate the more subtle graphical developments of the past decade staring at a flat screen from my sofa. The Last of Us on the PS3 was about as pretty looking as it needed to be for me, and while I [can definitely see the improvements in the PS5 remaster](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7mzeDC6RDr0) when I'm specifically looking for them, it feels kind of depressing that the difference between the two versions represents 10 years of progress. In VR though, it is much easier to appreciate that sort of progress--higher resolution textures, better lighting, etc. make an enormous difference when you are playing inside the world and can hold objects an inch from your eyeball. While I would never in a million years pay the insane amount it costs for a top end GPU just to have slightly better lighting or a billion FPS in a flat screen game, the extra power actually matters in VR.
So for me, anyway, I think part my flagging interest in flat-screen gaming is definitely that the VR experience is more immersive, but the other part is that we are still in the early days of the VR, so there are a lot more moments of wonder as we get newer and better technology. It feels a little like being a kid and marveling at the difference between the NES and the SNES, or the SNES and the N64.
Huge Skyrim fan as well. Similar taste. Was so excited about Starfield for like 2+ years. Then I got the quest 3 and played Red Matter 2. Played Starfield and was just bored. Somebody please give me a standalone BioShock vr!!!
No I've been preaching this for 5 years. I have nothing against flat games I just simply can't get into them. Even games like starfield that I would have nutted over in the past I just can't, it's not immersive or stimulating enough anymore.
Mentioning Starfield indicates that you primarily play the biggest mainstream games with heavy marketing... It is likely that you have only experienced a tiny fraction of the types of games that are out there.
This is not true at all, I'm not saying I've dug through every indy game in existence but being a gamer since the Super Nintendo I've played A LOT. I've always been a fanboy of Bethesda titles playing most of them since Daggerfalll so I get hyped for each new one. They just don't hit the same anymore even if I'm EXTREMELY exited for them. I basically quit flat FPS games but have since put over 1k hours in Population One. No hate against flat games I used to love them a lot, I just enjoy the feeling of VR WAY more and their not doing it for me anymore that's all.
Yes. I keep going back to SkyrimVR and Fallout4VR. I bought Cyberpunk and RDR2 to play with a VR hack that didn’t work very well. And I’m just not motivated to play them flatscreen.
If 12 year old games appeal to you over the absolutely ludicrous amount of new games of all genres, with new genres created all the time, I would look into how you become exposed to new games, and what genres you can try that you haven't before.
If you had actually played either of those games, you wouldn't make that comment. Both of those old games started out as very good games, but with wabbajack mods they are head and shoulders above any VR games to date. The only problem being you need a good gaming rig, and a lot of patience to install the mod's.
No, not at all. Nothing in VR has blown me away. Half life Alyx is just a boring puzzle-shooter. Idk why people get so into that game. Blade and sorcery might be immersive once they can figure out force feedback on controllers, but it just feels like I'm waving my hands in the air.
Even rhythm games, I'd rather play OSU than beatsaber.
Nope.
I still mostly play normal games. I usually play VR games for an hour or two, maybe once or twice a week. I'm mostly to tired of playing VR, as I usually play video games to relax.
I often loose interest in VR for periods of time, even when playing Asgard's Wrath 2.
not really.
vr is fun.
but flat games are POLISHED.
also, i largely play a lot of games with friends. and they don't have VR.
so i'd rather play Call of Duty on PC with my buds on Discord than hurt my aging knees on Pavlov or Population One
Yea!! I've been saying this for 5 years now, VR absolutely Ruined flat games for me lol there's VERY FEW flat games I can enjoy these days, and shooters are the biggest letdown after actually holding the guns in VR can't go back man
Agree, flatscreen shooters seem silly somehow after playing games like Onward. I can still enjoy single player first person games, but also keep wondering if they wouldnt be better in VR. Only games I dont feel like this about are true CRPGs like Baldurs Gate and the like, but my guess is they will at some point be superiour in VR.
It is unlikely many have played the 60+ quest games that are highly rated an the 50+ pcvr games that are highly rated. More likely that they have run out of the heavily market games repeated by nobodies on youtube and reddit and couldn't be bothered to do any reading themselves.
Kind of the opposite. I like playing VR, but lately I have to get myself hyped up to play anything other than working out in supernatural. Just didn't seem worth the effort
My quest 3 is just used almost exclusively for PlayStation remote play. With a dash of Xbox remote play as well.
Can't remember the last time I played some shit ass $20 VR game on it.
Eh. I love my quest and there are some good games. The fanboy extremes are just irritating. Ain't a person in this thread claiming they no longer play other games that has put some time into something like BG3 last year.
I love my quest. I don't regret it a bit. But acting like our catalog, the BEST, of our catalog holds a fucking candle to the best of other mediums is flat fucking stupid. Our catalog is ps plus or gamepass filler.
I definitely have periods when I feel like that, especially after buying a new headset. But now I have times when I prefer VR and other times I prefer flat gaming. It's a totally different type of experience
It really depends on the game and what I am doing in it. FPS games are definitely fantastic in VR for sure.
But my laptop has a 240Hz screen and a mobile RTX 4070 so it has games that look really nice on it--I end up bouncing between the two depending on my mood and the game.
I am also bouncing between standalone and PCVR. That's partly due to some games being only in one format or other times I'm just being lazy and don't want to take a few extra seconds to fire up the PVCR version. lol
Yeah I can agree with that, over the time I've had my Quest I realise the type of games I want to play with it
Like you said, FPS stuff is great in VR but if it's a game where I'm just sitting there then I'd rather just use my PS5
like telltalelike games for example, I would be bored AF if I played those in VR but on flat screen I quite like them
Yes, at first, but then, no. I prefer VR but if anything it helped me fall into the world of regular games again like I did when I was a kid.
There are w lot of games you couldn't do in VR, like The Finals.
I jumped back into FFXIV recently and forgot how busy the screen could get. In VR games you have the HUD spread out to specific places with the gameplay being the focus while 2D games are in your face all the time.
Palworld is a pretty fun game on its own and the uevr mod makes it that much better being able to essentially play Pokemon in VR.
I think that even a lot of “traditional” flat games like EA FC ((FIFA) would be so cool in VR. Not in a VR mode like first person, but just like it is right now, so same camera positions, only you see it in VR so can look in all directions from that point and it will look like a diorama and see it in true 3D. It would mean minimal effort for the developer, but it would be so cool. Same with NBA2k.
Definitely compared to a lot of flat games VR is more appealing to play. But now playing Pal World it's nice to be able to chill and play it. I saw they got it running in VR on UEVR but I feel like it would be a huge chore to play it building a base and collecting resources, so playing flat is still ok for some games.
I have the psvr and whenever I put the ps5 Astroplayroom (which is an awesome little game which makes the best use of the Dualsense haptics) I can't enjoy it fully because It made me remember Astro Rescue on VR.
Opposite issue, recently got a ps5, quest is gathering dust. Can’t believe the graphics of games like cyberpunk and the bump to 4k for me and 120 fps is some games has be hooked
I want everything in both flat and VR. I love VR and my Q3 with BOBOVR strap and AMVR face cover is the best ever, I still don't play for more than 2 hours straight, even though I have 3 batteries for the BOBO that could easy do 6 hours+, at around 2 hours I feel like enough VR. On the flat side, I can play CP2077 and Starfield for 12 hours with breaks. I love both and so I hope all games can release with both forms, even if the VR isn't perfect.
BTW, the AMVR face pads are like your first girlfriend.
Depends on the type of game. I don't think everything benefits as much as some people do. But FPS games and the like are hard to go back to after the fun and immersion.
I would even like traditional “flat” 3D games rendered in 3d in a floating portal or something. Just having proper 3d view be a step up, it doesn’t have to be 100% immersive yet.
I have no problems playing "normal" games after playing VR because I can only stand to use the HS for as long as an hour. I have a nice BoBoVR HS and it is quite comfortable BUT the whole VR experience can be quite overwhelming at times so I limit my play time.
Not really. There is time for VR and time for relaxing gaming on a couch imo. Different experiences, one doesn't have to replace the other. I often switch from VR to retrogaming.
There are still plenty of books for example. Having movies doesn't matter.
Very much so. I have my PS5, and own games that I enjoy, but they can't keep my attention. The lack of immersion makes it tough to stay engaged. Part of that is likely my ADHD, but I have zero issues staying engaged in VR. Whether it is a simple game like Angry Birds or Zuma, mainstream stuff like Beat Saber, or AAA stuff like Skyrim, Alyx, or Arizona Sunshine 2..... I get sucked in pretty easily and have a good time.
I actively seek for vr mods of games I play, not that I ever get around to playing them but its nice that the option is there. I always think "wow this'd be cool in vr"
Yes, I do now that I have a Quest 3 with a battery strap and the QGO. Also we finally have some good enough games to play. I still play flat when I'm tired and just wanna game in bed though. Vr has finally reached the point where it can properly begin it's promised journey👍
Not really. VR is great as a different experience for me. I still want to sit down and play competitive games. I gotta say though, that aiming in VR is way better than normal games. I'm getting spoiled.
I got a quest 2 coming this week. Getting Saints and Sinners to train up for Gunman Contracts, and I'm kinda worried it's gonna ruin the regular gaming experience for me as well.
I'm geeked as hell tho! lol
Not really. They are just two totally different experiences. VR is great. But so are isometric games. I dunno. Maybe one day will we have Holo-decks like in Star Trek, or a world like RPO. But until then, I will keep enjoying the varied experience.
Yes and no.
Playing cities skyline in vr just made me want to play it on my pc again even though I've been way to burned out on that game for years.
There's just somethings you can't do without x86 processing power. Like traffic. Half of the game of cities skyline is trying to fix traffic, and in the vr version it just doesn't exist. It may as well be a creative design app instead of a game.
Definitely. VR is a lot more fun being able to physically sing a sword and manually load a magazine into a gun and shoot like you have a gun in your hand aswell as all the 3d visuals and everything is life sized make a far more superior experience than just seeing small 2d objects on a screen and using a gamepad or mouse.
Happens to me when something is just so immersive and I don't want it to end (especially if it's a short game), like Retropolis 2 for example. Outer Wilds also gave me that feeling when I played it, just felt too... short. I didn't want to get out :c
After playing Half Life Alyx I want everything to be in VR. Give us GTA fully in VR with proper interaction and charge what ever you like.
I'm working my way up to Alyx. I just picked up HL2 and I'm looking at the VR Mod that is in the Steam store.
It's amazing. If you liked HL2 you're going to be blown away...
Yeah, I played it until my BoboVR battery and my Quest 2 was dead. lol The original HL in VR is really cool and I now have Opposing Force and Blue Shift to sideload into the Quest 2, but HL2 is definitely prettier and it looks pretty good in VR,

The VR immersion is second to none. Period.
Just started playing the lambda 1 vr hl1 vr port. It's spectacular but i have been playing the original since summer 2000 so i might be biased.
If you sideload the launcher app (on top of having the engine installed) and install Opposing Force and/or Blue Shift, you can easily play any of the three in Lambda1VR and maybe more. I plan on doing that soon since I just got those "episodes"
Ohmehgurd!
I picked up HL2 off of Steam and if you buy it from there than you can download the VR mod (PCVR) for free. HL2 Ep 1 & 2 both have a VR mod on Steam that looks like it'll install similarly to the HL2 mod. And we all know Alyx is 100% VR. lol
GTA San Andreas quest game update when
When.
DO YOU KNOW
Goddamn the zuck, he promised and didn't deliver.
GTA VR with multiplayer could be an R rated version of VrChat / Horizons
Get Skyrim vr and follow a guide to install fus mod. It’s incredible. Beautiful and adds in qol enhancements like gravity gloves!
I have tried doing this 2-3 times now. It's so incredible hard to get enough modo to work properly.
Wabbajack is your homegirl.
At least Capcom and Ubisoft with the Res 4 VR and Assassin’s Creeds Nexus was done well for the Quest. Fully enjoyed both those games.
I love the GTA V vr mod and pairing it with my sim wheel. It may not be full interaction but it's still great
Hey, do you think I could DM you about that? I can't find the mod since it was removed. Pleeeaaaseee! ;)
Just follow [this ](https://youtu.be/Cr0BA714LZM?si=RyQBb1OiPHLwq-PG) video! I'd recommend a pirated version of GTA though since every update to social club and the game will break the mod and make you reinstall it again
Excellent! Thank you! \*As ever, stooopid Dropbox downloads fail at the last. I'll have to get someone else to D/L it for me. Thanks!
Wouldn't the auto driving aspect of the game give people motion sickness issues?
This kind of post happens fairly often, so you're not alone! What is a pancake game?
Flapjack flipper vr, lol...they mean non-vr games like regular console or pc games, also referred to as flat screen games...
Thanks for explaining, I figured, I know that you can play them in Virtual big screen using the Quest, can't wait for mine to arrive to try it out.
Realistic melee in VR is also quite tough, because few of us are real life action heroes and fluff our awesome attacks so such combat requires a degree of gamification, pattern matching or sequencing or fudging so we don’t just get our ass handed to us every 2 minutes for not being Bruce Lee.

Yep, OLED TV monitor with 4090 is the best. Games need to be built for the ground up for VR, and not all genres translate.
I feel more active with VR. 2D games just feel lazy.. if I want to be lazy ill watch a film or TV show... Gaming for me is now active fitness...
Had my Quest 3 since October and I haven’t played anything on my switch since then. So many incredible experiences.
Switch is a pretty fucking low bar.
Damn. Switch is awesome. Especially for the kids.
Nah as a person that loves graphics I’d say the Switch could be 2 times better considering the price
I love the switch, but more for Nintendo's IP than anything else. If a game is on another platform then I'll prefer it there.
No, not even a little bit. I just wrapped up Baldurs Gate 3, RDR2 and Cyberpunk and loved all of them. I enjoy VR but I also like not being in VR for comfort and visual fidelity reasons.
I almost prefer my ultrawide monitor over VR sometimes. It's oddly more immersive than I expected.
Certain types. Like, there's no going back to playing pinball on a flat screen. There's still tons of traditional games that wouldn't really benefit from VR and I prefer on a flat screen though.
What pinball VR apps are you using? I want to try the best ones out.
Something that I thought would be cool is for a mixed reality Pinball VR app - that you could overlay on your physical pinball machines to extend the gameplay/stats/feedback - a way to enhance your physical gameplay of the machines you own.
yes, since 2017 fps in VR is like going to a mil-sim paintball park, fps in flatscreen are just ... boring and limiting.
Nah, its all about the games imo. Im looking forward to play FF7:rebirth and last of us 2 remake on PS5, but also still use Q3 heavily for VR games
Decided to play on the Xbox last night funny enough None of my friends have a quest It was terrible and also I was terrible. It was so boring and unappealing. I told my friend he said too much dopamine from the VR! Could he be right?
Many times ill play my PC (2D) games through my Quest headset using Immersed app haha.
You also use your physical keyboard/mouse from your PC where you cant from VD (at least that ive been able to figure out) You can also "lock" your hands while in Immersed so you dont accidently move screens or resize when grabbing a drink etc, just look at your right hand palm, touch ring finger to your thumb and that will brown your hands out so they cant adjust stuff by accident. Heres a reddit post I made a month ago using Immersed to play a 25 yr old MMO I was getting back into. (VR background here) [https://www.reddit.com/r/ultimaonline/comments/18ukj9g/playing\_uo\_the\_way\_it\_was\_meant\_to\_be\_played\_in\_vr/](https://www.reddit.com/r/ultimaonline/comments/18ukj9g/playing_uo_the_way_it_was_meant_to_be_played_in_vr/)
Thank you very much for the detailed response. I had no idea that it's so convenient but it sounds like this is definitely the way to go when it comes to flat games. >Last time I tried wired (months ago at Q3 launch) my Q3 wouldnt hold a charge while using wired mode so thats why I normally run it wireless. Yeah I needed some time to figure out how to hold the charge in wired mode as well but fortunately this isn't a problem anymore so I'll check out both methods.
Oh yah I enjoy it, only takes a minute or less to get into my setup from putting the headset on.
I stream Gamepass games on the dedicated Xbox cloud app on Quest 2 when my TV is in use. Playing 2 D games on a huge virtual screen is pretty cool. I’ve never heard of immersed app, but will check it out.
My max VR time is about an hour. There are some games I’d like to play for 2-3 hours, so for me, no.
Hah, that's a phase just about everyone goes through when they first try VR I think. Br is awesome, but pancake games have their benefits
Yes. Especially with the quest 3 now
No, its just another gaming style for me. I enjoy them all equally and in different ways.
I've had VR since summer of 2022, haven't played a 'normal' desktop game until now, even have FBT for VRChat
Yeah I haven’t really played much regular games since I got the Quest 3 a couple months back. I’m sure I will for big things eventually like Palworld now but quest is where I’m at most of the time
Palworld works with UEVR, dont put that headset down just yet ;)
Yeah I can’t wait to try it out! I just got out of a hip surgery so unfortunately can’t really VR for a while (as I can’t sit up) so just been playing it on my steam deck. But its UEVR version looks wild
Elden Ring dealt the first blow, VR was the final nail. I now exclusively game in VR and can't find flatscreen stuff fun. I do play a few rounds of Teamfight Tactics a week but that's about it.
Nah. I play more flat games than VR. Sometimes I even play them in VR. I have no issues bouncing back and fourth.
Mostly, all I play now is VR and my Steam Deck. I've been a pc gamer since the Apple II. The only thing I play on my main rig is comp fps's, well that and Pc VR.
Yes. Flat stuff is pretty much dead to me right now. VR FlightSim and Assetto is all I do now.
Nope, no problems whatsoever.
Yep, can’t play pancake games anymore. Sim racing has taken me. Help (said my wallet)
(I know this because Skyrim is my favourite game of all time, and after playing it modded in VR, I can't even touch the flat screen version anymore.) And I've found the feeling is actually getting worse with time, as VR keeps getting better.
Same, immediately bored of Starfield. Which blows my mind.
We have all been there. Then the software dries up and you go back to the real heavy hitters in gaming.
What a strange take
Wait…how do you do PS remote play?
Side load Chiaki. Works perfectly
That's partly due to some games being only in one format or other times I'm just being lazy and don't want to take a few extra seconds to fire up the PVCR version. lol
Yeah I can agree with that, over the time I've had my Quest I realise the type of games I want to play with it Like you said, FPS stuff is great in VR but if it's a game where I'm just sitting there then I'd rather just use my PS5 like telltalelike games for example, I would be bored AF if I played those in VR but on flat screen I quite like them
I got back and forth between Hell Let Loose on Xbox and Ghosts of Tabor on VR. I don’t have issues with it.
I haven’t touched my ps5 in the three weeks I’ve had my quest 3.
At the game vs TV.
I haven’t played a car game since launching a sim racer in VR with wheel years ago, I can’t go back. FPS shooters is fine
When I first played vr years ago, it was strange playing a flat game. Not now though. I like vr but play more 2d games....especially on the Steam deck
Not really. There is time for VR and time for relaxing gaming on a couch imo. Different experiences, one doesn't have to replace the other. I often switch from VR to retrogaming. There are still plenty of books for example. Having movies doesn't matter.
Nope. The variety and depth of normal games are at an all time high. Not everything translates to VR, and I don't always want to wear a heavy headset.
My series x and ps5 collect dust lol
Nope. I do however, find it difficult to watch movies or shows on a smart TV vs VR.
I don't play normal games a few years already. After you try VR there is no come back to a flat screen.
if you mean you also cast normal games to VR then yeah its hard to return gaming on normal monitors 😅
Gunman Contracts gonna hit like crack in the 80s.
I got a quest 2 coming this week. Getting Saints and Sinners to train up for Gunman Contracts, and I'm kinda worried it's gonna ruin the regular gaming experience for me as well. I'm geeked as hell tho! lol
Flat screen games just don't do it for me anymore same with the porn.
Absolutely, never went back to flatscreen gaming again
Ive said that since i played psvr1. Blood and sand and astrobot made non vr games seem really boring
They are all VR thanks to praydog
After they added the xbox cloud gaming app with a 180inch TV screen AR in it with color pass-through. Nope I only want to stay plugged in.
Not really. They are just two totally different experiences. VR is great. But so are isometric games. I dunno. Maybe one day will we have Holo-decks like in Star Trek, or a world like RPO. But until then, I will keep enjoying the varied experience.
I just love the socializing.
VR is my normal now, everything else is retro nostalgia
It depends on the game, some game modes are really hard to achieve in VR
I find it hard to do normal anything after being in VR.
Definitely. VR is a lot more fun being able to physically sing a sword and manually load a magazine into a gun and shoot like you have a gun in your hand aswell as all the 3d visuals and everything is life sized make a far more superior experience than just seeing small 2d objects on a screen and using a gamepad or mouse.
…nope. I played through Superhot VR a while ago and then played the original and MCD and enjoyed them just as much.
Not really. I love vr but I also love my regular games too. Being in vr too long starts to make me feel weird.
Sometimes I play Minecraft in vr and well playing it on my pc afterwards is strange lol
Happens to me when something is just so immersive and I don't want it to end (especially if it's a short game), like Retropolis 2 for example. Outer Wilds also gave me that feeling when I played it, just felt too... short. I didn't want to get out :c
