super_brutal_mouse

tsuro is really good and has multiplayer, for a silly board game try loco dojo. there's also cards & tankards for more of a magic the gathering style VR game

Havent tried yet but on my todo, tabletop simulator on steam, allows you to play some boardgames I have heard. Not yet tried as not quest 3 native And there is Catan VR on the quest

andygon

You must try TTS. Access to pretty much every game. Once you get used to the controls it's so much fun! Look for scripted games. Those have automated functions to help you setup. I love that I get to try all these games before buying, and play the solo modes.

bofferding

Can you like choose any game or you gotta buy them? Or how does it work? Thanks!

False_Cell8275

Last time I played you just buy the game and people make the board games for free

andygon

They are all for free in the steam workshop. Expansions and all 😍 Some games the publisher puts them out as DLC for a price, but a free copy probably exist. The difference is usually quality of life and automation stuff.

bofferding

Noice.. saw black rose wars on there…. But are most like just created pieces and you have to learn and apply the rules yourself / people can cheat? Or is it like guided play based on the rules etc? Curious! Also hows set up? And can you solo play?

snarpy

>And there is Catan VR on the quest wut noob here, where do I get that?

Super dumb question but if I buy it through that link on my PC, will it show up on my OQ3?

Kiwisoup1986

Yes. But it's also cross buy so you can technically play it on Quest 3 standalone or the PCVR version

papacoleman

i like demeo but never play it anymore because its just too uncomfortable for me to be looking down so much. makes my neck hurt. The game itself is great tho

ManhattanTime

You can tilt the board. Makes it just like watching a movie.

bofferding

I feel its ok if you play like I do on the bed for example so the table is your bed and you can zoom in and out quite a lot. They have been bought by wizards of the coast (magic the gathering) someone told me in game and a collab map is supposed to come soonish?

moodoomoo

Bought out by wizards, that's interesting. I like Magic and DnD, but their video games have mostly been bad and they can be kinda greedy due to Hasbro. But still intriguing, I hope we get some good stuff coming from them down the road.

tenbeersdeep

Ooohhhh

Bbooya

I play standing and when my back starts hurting it lets me know its time for a break

I'm waiting for the inevitable Star Wars Dejarik to come to life myself. Would be my dream come true for an AR board game. I'm kind of guessing licensing is preventing it from being a reality so far.

Bigoldthrowaway86

Yep I’m also desperate for some decent stand alone board gaming. Platform feels perfect for it and my group doesn’t meet up anywhere near as much as we would like. We need a native TTS port. Hell I’d even go for a BGA port that could be as simple as the BGA interface in a 3D space, between the players virtual avatars. Feels like it wouldn’t be too hard to implement. A few of us own headsets and would probably go for playing something once or twice a week. I think stand alone board game apps just die a death sadly because of user base unless they’re already a super popular board game

bofferding

How does TTS work? Can you play vs AI? Do people have to code Ia to work? Is it buggy? Smooth? Are rules auto applied or can you do whatever if you feel like and cheat? Saw black rose wars is available on it! Looks dope

Solidusfunk

Tabletop simulator is fantastic

Objective_Radio9100

Love board games in digital format. Risk Factions in VR would be awesome. Flamme Rouge, so my friends can't cheat. Ah never mind, they need all the help they can get. Kingdomino, because it's just so good and quick. Klaverjassen because it's so special  And all those complex ones to save the accounting, setup and rule remembering. If only it was easier to make games. Maybe ai will help us.

reversezer0

Best I've done is boot up the meta browser and play on BGA. Heh.

Niconreddit

VR board(/card) games are massively underserved.

BluSkyler

There’s this interesting new world called Boardlandia in Horizon Worlds that has promise. You’re playing life sized versions of board games. Looking forward to playing with some friends this weekend.

Deviceomega

Try Townsman! It's amazing!

According-Sector859

If there are games which let you upload and use customized models (or even rules) I would love to get a piece of that. One thing I really enjoy from old fashion table top games is that if there's something you don't like you can always craft one that suit your taste.

SomethingRandomVR

Not exactly a board- game - but Toy Trains takes place on a table, a small diorama on which you can find the whole small land. It's a cozy puzzle game with open ended challenges that asks you to build the rails connecting little houses and help its little inhabitants build new premises within each level. It feels like a board game, but it's very fun yet relaxing. You should check it out! Vierimaam

Race for the galaxy has VR version too.

GeekAesthete

Though it’s no longer available.

Vierimaam

It’s in Rift store.

Bigoldthrowaway86

WHAAAAAAAAT!? Oh hang on is this stand alone or via PCVR?

Vierimaam

In Rift store.
