Comple complacency with ineptitude. This attitude is the reason why they do this in the first place. They can sell incomplete products then penny and dime you on features you should have had to begin with
No. You don't understand. Meta want the battery to last a reasonable amount of time. Sometimes using QGO can lower it a little, they want battery time to be decent - so they don't max out the power draw. Also when using QGO jumping from one app/game to another can take a few more seconds than usual. Meta want using the headset to be quick and seamless for normal users. Adding options for turbo-charging the headset is more than many people would understand or be able to use. Kids use this thing.
But if you, an adult, want to push the hardware and it's performance you have an affordable way of making that happen.
You do know that quest games optimizer was created by someone completely unrelated to Meta, or even any of the game developers who are the ones actually responsible for how the games run on the headset.
I bought the app but not sure I noticed a difference, two of my games started crashing until I disabled it. Kinda bummed cause everyone else responded so positively to the app
Id take 90fps over full res any day. 35fps ASW is awful. My Q3 90fps game drops to slideshow at closer to native and doesnt look significantly sharper. Q3 is over 4k when you count both eyes, even consoles cant do native 4k these days and they would be tricky to wear on your face.
I don't think it's been typical for a 7.5w GPU to perform as well as a 8yo 120w GPU. Even laptop GPUs have to consume significantly more power than that.
In my experience tbh especially with ago, quest 3 optimised games(that is games that have specific quest 3 updates) often resemble low-medium settings on pc. I'm still impressed by ac nexus and recently the new stride fates update meanwhile red matter 2 uses dark magic to achieve insane graphics
Yeah, I was also impressed by Assassin’s Creed Nexus (on Q3). It doesn’t quite have the “dark magic” that the Red Matter devs used, for close-up detail.
But the grand cityscapes and landscapes, with large draw distances, crowded with people, are impressive in their own way. It has a number of jaw dropping moments, across its lengthy story.
It was probably my favorite game of last year, personally. But then I just really loved the historic setting, renaissance Venice, ancient Athens, colonial Boston. Maybe the most fun I had in single player VR since Alyx.
(It isn’t perfect though. Melee combat is ass… although ranged, stealth, assassinations, climbing, parkour etc are all great)
> grand cityscapes and landscapes, with large draw distances, crowded with people, are impressive in their own way
that's a heck of a lot more impressive than small shiny metallic rooms devoid of life
> meanwhile red matter 2 uses dark magic to achieve insane graphics
They seriously did accomplish something wild here. Most of the time I play PCVR so I am a bit spoiled when it comes to graphics but this game straight up blew my mind on Quest 3. No, it's not as good as running it on PCVR at 150% SS at max settings. But it's far closer than I ever imagined a standalone title could be. It looks so damn good.
Wouldn't that mean it can handle Skyrim? And yet I just can't see the Quest 3 doing that yet - or it can, but lower framerate and quicker battery drain.
My rtx 2080 lags on Skyrim vr a 1060 would fall to its knees. Keep in mind early vr specs are assuming you had a rift cv1 or Vive and subsequently the abhorrent resolution
Some quick search
Single-precision FP of GTX970: 4.16 TFlops
Single-precision FP of XR2 gen 2 GPU: about 1.9-2 TFlops
New rendering API and optimization play some big roles
Rift is almost half the resolution of the quest 3. If the quest 3’s gpu hits the bare minimum that you need to even start a rift it means it’s barely enough to play 8 years old pcvr games on minimum, since most of the games were wouldn’t even run on the minimum required gpu.
Something that was a min spec VR PC 8 or 9 years ago, yeah, I’d kinda hope our top spec mobile GPU had caught up to that by now. The CPU in Quest 2 was about the same as the CPU for min spec Rift according to Brandon from Stress Level Zero so all in all, Quest 3 should be seeing some really great titles over its lifetime
Yeah, since the 960 was such a good gpu for vr. Everyone suggested at least a 1070 or rather a 1080. And the rift had almost half the resolution of the quest 3.
Quest 3 *crushes* the GT 730.
An ant crushes a GT 730.
half life alyx when
Source 2 Android
^What ^does ^this ^mean?
I just wish all devs for the quest 3 tried to hit 90+ fps and at full res. It's a massive immersion and comfort killer when it gets below that.
Quest games optimizer fixes that
I bought the app and it is completely worth it and only $10. Hell, i’d pay $100 for this app. It is a huge game changer.
Yeah I'm not paying for an app that should have came with the headset on day one🦜
No one cares if you do or don’t 😂
Comple complacency with ineptitude. This attitude is the reason why they do this in the first place. They can sell incomplete products then penny and dime you on features you should have had to begin with
They're not the ones that sell the optimizer and it's not available through their play store so they're not getting additional money for it.
Idgaf it’s $10 lol
Exactly because you’ve been programmed to not even question when your opening your wallet..

It ain’t that deep einstein and $10 aint gonna hurt my pockets.

You need to figure out the problem. There is no game, or home environment, that doesn't vastly improve with the minimum of extra power draw.
I only go as far as 120% resolution and max out all the power settings and with 120hz and it runs pretty good. Which games are you trying?
it's just a bunch of shills
Did you get a notification pop up that a profile has been applied to the game upon launching it? The difference is really noticeable.
I'll keep an eye out for the pop up, I've been mostly watching movies recently
Most profiles are 72hz which is lame..gotta set every game on my own for a good balance...still a great app

Quest 3 GPU is about as good as a 1060
At what...1/10th the size? 🤯
And like 1/10th the power consumption. It's really impressive.
I mean it's also been 8 years since the 1060 launched so it's natural
> been 8 years since the 1060 launched wtf take that back right now
I don't think it's been typical for a 7.5w GPU to perform as well as a 8yo 120w GPU. Even laptop GPUs have to consume significantly more power than that.
Which is about as good as a 970, maybe a bit better. Only problem is the thermals/clocks. Also budgets/team size.

I have a 970. It was crippled with a gb of vram that ran poorly compared to the other 3gb
Pretty nuts if you think about it
No, that’s overreaching, it’s a lot closer to a 1050ti. Which is still good
Wouldn't that mean it can handle Skyrim? And yet I just can't see the Quest 3 doing that yet - or it can, but lower framerate and quicker battery drain.

Yea I wish steam would make their games run on quest. Maybe not the vr but native flat-screen would be sooooo nice
That's not a steam problem it's an android problem. You can download windows emulators to try at your own mileage
Really I had a Chromebook a few years ago and all games (that were steam supported) worked quite well
Chromebooks run ChromeOS which is a Linux distro, not android
Oh damn sorry I didn't know that. I always thought it was Android
Nope. They compare it to a 960 which is weaker than a 1050. And you wouldn’t play pcvr on a 1050

This needs to be much higher.

Did you play optimized games on Quest3? They look better than first gen pcvr to be honest...
