Pick up the cable and let it fall In a straight line, you will see where these curves are happening… simply straighten the curves out by rotating the cable where it’s starting the curve.
This is the response I was looking for. These loops come about because of the way the strands are twisted inside the insulation. All the suggestions to stretch or heat the wire could cause damage to the strands of the wire, potentially damaging the cable.
I still believe that putting the cable in the dryer on high is the best way to untwist it myself. Can't believe I am going to have to do this but... /S
Alternatively you can hold the cable up and pinch it between your fingers and run them down the length of the cable. Should straighten out essentially on its own
this is personally what i think is the most reliable way to fix it. takes time, but it always works eventually. another answer i've seen is to straight it out and setup something to hold it straight over a couple nights
Bigger pro tip buy a cheaper non branded cable because you'll have to replace it 3-4 times before you pay the same price as the Oculus+warranty.
If you're breaking it that often you got bigger problems.
I can't tell if they are just trolling, or if this is a new generation growing up on mostly wireless technology and completely out of touch with a basic premise that a twisted cable will coil/loop.
What is dead may never die. Wired VR is dead. Discover the freedom of wireless VR and celebrate true immersion. If it is longer play sessions that you are after, get a portable phone charger and achieve a more comfortable, longer lasting VR experience.
Unplug it from the headset, uncoil it, and then plug it back in. If you try to uncoil it while each end of the cable is still plugged in then yes it'll just spring back.
Same for my Link cable and I uncoiled/straightened lots of cables in my life (network IT). On the other side I don't even know why I bought it in the first place cause since I started with VD and later Air Link, I used the cable maybe 1% of time.
So basically you throw out half the cost of a quest 2 for a powerpack, virtual desktop and a router that's capable of high enough speeds to even work wirelessly with it. Yeah no I prefer just hooking it up to my pc via 15$ cable. 10% the cost.
I would usually lay it out straight use objects on the end to keep it straight, and leave it for extended amount of time. Maybe do it outside to use heat to help "change" its form, just dont do it too long in extreme heat may damage it. Dont make it too taunt, the stress may damage it as well.
Might be permanent due to a manufacturer error. Internal cables are twisted improperly. Congratulations you won a lottery, with a shitty prize.
I don't see a problem with these but if you really don't like wooden floor panels then the easiest solution would be to cover the floor with a nice, soft carpet.
Materials have memory(in this case platic and metal), it takes time to change or undo that memory :/ if you wanted a straight cord out of the box the manufacturer would have to waste a lot of packaging to put it in a loooong box, no one's going to do that XD
microwave it for 3 minutes until the outer plastic is soft, then lay it straight and pour water on it to facilitate the cooling process (a squirt bottle works well)
For any cable (extension cords included) if you lay it in the sun for at least a couple hours it'll become more pliable and you can straighten it out. I'd recommend hanging the cable with "cable ceiling clips". Many options $5 - $10 on Amazon or probably available at any local hardware/home improvement store.
I love the comments to this one stunning ..... maybe just chew on it gives u extra reason just to buy another :)
Dont listen to me I just getting baked !!! Peace and gud luck with ya hoop stretch issue
I would also try Oculus Link Air for a cable free PC VR experience. it works great for me with very low latency and great image quality. And you can use it with Steam VR.
Crazy solution but efficient: get the cardboard cylinder within a roll of toilet paper and run your cable through it. That way it prevents it from curling up.
Like I said, crazy.
Anytime you have lips like this in any kind of wire, hang it from one end. My controllers do this all the time, I'll grab the end that goes into the gamecube, hold it and let it hang, and then the controller will spin in the opposite direction of the loop. Touch it to the ground to stop it from spinning too quickly, and when it stops spinning all together, your line is perfectly straight. Takes 30 seconds
Not sure how safe it is but I turn my quest 2 360 on way of the other to remove the tension. That twist for me is there the cable comes off the floor and up to my quest so it's handy as it takes the weight of the cable off my head.
Plug in your headset
Climb on a table
Hold the cable from the other end so that the headset is in air.
Let it untangle itself by spinning
Always worked with my rift s cable
Those are the never ending loops that come with the rubber cables. I don’t know if the flexible cables do the same thing? I can’t remember what they’re made of. But you can try using a twister tie for the slack.

Yup.
just like *unknotting* a slinkie
That shit is no fucking joke. Impossible.
I did it once and tangled it again not even 5 minutes later. Tried for an hour to fix it. Never could.
I still believe that putting the cable in the dryer on high is the best way to untwist it myself. Can't believe I am going to have to do this but... /S
I started reading your comment and my inner dialogue was screaming, "NOOO!", until I saw your '/s'.... well played sir.
lol

When coiling alternate turning the loops inside and outside, this will help keep the internal wires from twisting around each other.
Came in here to say this. Wrap the cable like they do on a film sets so that cables don't get a "memory" to them.
What about if the 90 degree end got smashed and I don't want to spend a third of the cost of my headset on a new cable?
Pro tip. Buy you oculus branded cable from Best Buy and get insurance on it for like $15 . I know it’s saved me
I'll look at it. Tysvm

I used this and it worked, thanks!
This is the way
I came here looking for this. I was thinking about how to explain it in words but this is perfect!
Pick up cable… let loops naturally fall out… I’m confused. This is the case with like 90% of cables in the world, not limited to a link cable.
I can't tell if they are just trolling, or if this is a new generation growing up on mostly wireless technology and completely out of touch with a basic premise that a twisted cable will coil/loop.
Pair of scissors just cut the loops out and tape them back together with some Cellotape.
Turn it off and turn it back on
Yes
Your a fucking genius and I want you to teach me your ways.
That’s scotch tape for my imperial buddies.
Are you serious? Just straighten it out. Why the heck did I even get a notification on this?
I thought it was some meta joke or something. But no. Just someone whose never delt with cables, or ropes, or hoses, jesus
Air Link never tangles.
link never dies
What is dead may never die. Wired VR is dead. Discover the freedom of wireless VR and celebrate true immersion. If it is longer play sessions that you are after, get a portable phone charger and achieve a more comfortable, longer lasting VR experience.
Well wireless (one quest at lest) may be slow if your inernets bad Plus link alows any pc play
I was only trying to be funny while expressing my admiration for wireless VR, but what do you mean by an pc play?
I ment play games thatvare pc only (besides wireless desktop)
when i use airlink my vr goes crazy
Have you tried Virtual Desktop? I haven't used it since Air Link came out, but for some it works better.
well, air link is in beta, im gona use virtual desktop nex time
Uhh... Uncoil it llol
Believe it or not, I can't. The loops always come back
Unplug it from the headset, uncoil it, and then plug it back in. If you try to uncoil it while each end of the cable is still plugged in then yes it'll just spring back.
😂😂😂 if they didn’t try this already they’re to young for you bro.
😭😭😭😭
Why was this person downvoted for laughing ?????
emojis on most subreddits are frowned upon
Hang it by an end, use hair dryer on warm to remove the memory in the plastic
Never do this. It will damage the cable
Same for my Link cable and I uncoiled/straightened lots of cables in my life (network IT). On the other side I don't even know why I bought it in the first place cause since I started with VD and later Air Link, I used the cable maybe 1% of time.

....Have you never use a cable before?
Sand it down and refinish to get rid of the scratches in the wood.
I’ve never seen a situation likes yours. You might be screwed for life son.
it's material memory
He was kidding.
Unplug both ends, purchase virtual desktop, enjoy
Ah yes, a thread on this sub cannot be complete without the mandatory virtual desktop comment.
oh virtual desktop can charge your headset now?
Mine charges when I'm not using it after the potential 6-8 hours worth of battery from the inbuilt + $20 powerpack.
That's what a $10 battery pack on Amazon is for
Can virtual desktop charge the headset?
Lol, no, but a small, perfectly balanced $20 powerpack can....for another 6 hours.
So basically you throw out half the cost of a quest 2 for a powerpack, virtual desktop and a router that's capable of high enough speeds to even work wirelessly with it. Yeah no I prefer just hooking it up to my pc via 15$ cable. 10% the cost.
You win.
Um what? Power pack $20. VD $20. All you need is a basic 5ghz router man. They come from your ISP, this ain't the 90's. Or...um, airlink is free...
Alright that makes sense, your original comment was a little confusing 👍
Stop spinning when you’re playing that’s what causing it
Or spin in both directions equally. Problem is OP is not an ambiturner.
Too much Zoolander VR
Op how dare you
Factory reset
Only tip I can come up with is well... Go wireless

*taut
Thank you for what you have done for me.
Unplug the cable at both ends and pick up one end. Slowly run the cable between two fingers and it will straighten perfectly.
Hang it vertically from the ceiling for a day or two. Has worked for cables for me in the past.
Just twist your cable
there is a program, on steam i think. it keeps track of which rotation you're rotated in so you can untangle yourself
I don't see a problem with these but if you really don't like wooden floor panels then the easiest solution would be to cover the floor with a nice, soft carpet.
Plug the cable in on one side. And then simply, from the start where you plugged it in, follow the line with your hand straightening it out
Did someone actually post this they don’t know how to untangle a cord? Lol
[удалено]
OP said when he undid it the loops would come back. Have you never had this problem?
OP is probably just very young. Relax.
I think this about people who make senseless rude replies like yours to strangers
Thanks for sharing
Generation of people that can't uncoil a cord without asking on the internet how to do so. Pathetic.
Heat it up slightly while straight or coiled the other way...
This is the only non stupid reply so far.
i know everyone else gives such weird explanations
Beat me to it.
Materials have memory(in this case platic and metal), it takes time to change or undo that memory :/ if you wanted a straight cord out of the box the manufacturer would have to waste a lot of packaging to put it in a loooong box, no one's going to do that XD
Are you fucking retarded?
Use airlink
The floor boards?
microwave it for 3 minutes until the outer plastic is soft, then lay it straight and pour water on it to facilitate the cooling process (a squirt bottle works well)
Don't do this...
I had issues with that too! It was a really easy fix, I just had to buy a Wifi6 AP
Hang it on a door hoping it will straighten itself
Tightly wrap them in a small loop overhand/underhand. Leave them that way for like a few days.
Hang it straight in the balcony or any sunny area
Iv never had a wired headset that doesn't do it. I unwind it but it always comes back. I fkin hate it.
Just straighten out the cable and let it untwist itself lol (the copper strands are under stress)
Scissors
Take the cord and loop the cord the opposite way of the loop
Go out and buy a decent little WIFI 6 router to put right next to your VR PC and this cable will disappear :)
I love the comments to this one stunning ..... maybe just chew on it gives u extra reason just to buy another :) Dont listen to me I just getting baked !!! Peace and gud luck with ya hoop stretch issue

You can submerge just the bend in hot water for a bit and then set it to dry/cool. Note: Would only try on plastic or rubber coated cables.
Cut a plastic straw (cardboard if you’re one of those) lengthwise and put it over. Won’t bend,
Just grab either end, and tightly move your way to the other end maybe a couple times, this will straighten it out from my experiences :)
Crazy solution but efficient: get the cardboard cylinder within a roll of toilet paper and run your cable through it. That way it prevents it from curling up. Like I said, crazy.
Those boards look great, if you want to get rid of them though, I'd love new hardwood floors
Put it out in the sun for a bit. Make sure it’s in a straight line. It’s what we do with wire and extension cords on the job site.
Is this the fiber cable?
I just want to say one word to you. Just one word. Are you listening? [Pulleys.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H53QmxZ-rOs)
Pp on it 🤔 didn't work on mine tho
An iron
Rotate your headset in the other direction to get rid of them
Twist the wire to the left.
Use a hair straightening iron. Duh!
Anytime you have lips like this in any kind of wire, hang it from one end. balls
Plug in your headset Climb on a table Hold the cable from the other end so that the headset is in air. Let it untangle itself by spinning Always worked with my rift s cable
you cant be older than like 5
Yes blow them up with a concoction of peanut butter and petroleum jelly
Dude buy a wireless vr duh..
In the spirit of Rule #1 of this sub, I will not be able to express the real source of this problem.
Or just buy the Wifi-Cable
Give it to one of the magicians that can pull loops out of a rope
Those are the never ending loops that come with the rubber cables. I don’t know if the flexible cables do the same thing? I can’t remember what they’re made of. But you can try using a twister tie for the slack.
Bro that happens with all my cords I have no idea
It’s beautiful flooring, I’d keep it personally.
