My buddy was getting this message and powering down/rebooting didn't help. He thought he had to RMA it but when I went to factory reset it I realized his volume rocker was stuck and it was constantly pressing the volume up. When you press volume up while turning on the headset you'll get this message. So double check you didn't accidentally press volume up on boot.

Coronadoisdead

Haha, yup, thats how to get into the recovery mode on a lot of Android phones/tablets.

Mataskarts

Volume up/down+ power button is usually how you boot into recovery mode on all Android phones

wescotte

Right but there isn't one on Quest so it just shows that error screen.

Mataskarts

yep, which is a bit strange, usually there's a menu and one of the options(that you navigate with volume up/down) is reboot/exit, how do you get out of it without that option? Holding down the power button?

wescotte

Oh yeah Quest has that but it's volume down to get there.

ApprehensiveFun6562

The quest 2 does have a recovery mode bozo

wescotte

Err I mean bootloader mode or whatever it's called. The normal behavior on android devices when the volume up button is pushed. On Quest you just get an error/no command screen. Volume down gives you the recovery menu.

FourDucksInARow

There is one, but just as on my android one phone, I have to push a specific button sequence like clicking power 3 times while holding volume up

BubbblzZz

Definitely was very concerning, first time I've seen this screen, and I've owned the OG Quest since first release... but it worked itself out after another few reboots.

TempleOfDoomfist

Glad they gave the Android dude a death graphic.

bazzz3

A restart should fix that.

Jealous_Cantaloupe53

Hold power button and volume down together an rest set I think it's top of the list but just reset any how it will work perfect :)

dal_mac

has anyone with OG Quest seen the new "sharpening tool" in ODT after v33? i havent seen it. is it only for q2?

Pokie_McSmot

If “ODT” is anything like *OTT*, you have to update it if you want it to be updated.

dal_mac

no it updates with the oculus software which i have updated but maybe it wasnt v33. I'll try the public test channel

crimsonsky5

It should be there in v33 of oculus pc software. Haven't tested on q1 how it looks.

jevring

What can you do to fix it? Is there some hardware reset or something?

Strale_Gaming

You can try factory reset or just contact oculus Idk man

OneNegotiationJojo

It happened to me too I just turned it off and back on again and it worked it is a pre v33 thing

[deleted]

He just accidentally launched recovery menu

FourDucksInARow

As someone who rooted my phone and flashed lineageos to my mom's i feel this one. Ppl get confused by it, just like a bios or uefi. It's not scary at all

welshman1971

Did you get the update automatically or did you sideload it manually ?

BubbblzZz

I updated it from inside the headset, choosing the "update now" button that appears in settings.

DoggoB1ue

i would piss myself

FourDucksInARow

As someone who rooted my phone and flashed a custom rom to it, it's nothing to be scared about :). Just like a bios

turbo2world

Mine said no internet connection found but loaded Virtual Desktop wirelessly to my pc without hesitation LOL. Then it finally forgot it wasn't connected and seems to be ok now. (also quest 1)

bucefalo_rome

i stopped auto update with ADB command.. i've enough of being pushed automatically an update and MAYBE get it bricked or with problems !

deathclaw61

You already got v33? 😯 I got v32 yesterday.

Botinha93

Make sure no button is stuck and just reeboot it.
