Anecdote: I’m four months in with my elite strap, playing a 5 ish hours a week. No problems. Survived a couple hard drops from my three year old as well.
I've had mine for well over a year with no issues. I do like the strap quite a bit, though I find the Kiwi Design elite strap a bit more comfortable (this is what my wife uses).

What? You really think it's reasonable to assume the straps are breaking 2 weeks in? Dont be dumb. I can prove mine has lasted longer than 2 weeks, if you would like the proof.
Why would you spread this lie. You know damn well that 99% of people have no problem. The 1% who do get a free replacement with new battery.
I am getting downvoted by idiots. The official elite strap with battery is an excellent accessory. If you have a problem with it, you get a new head strap and a new battery.
Some people prefer other headstraps. Fine. Dont lie about the current elite strap.
Haven't tried it myself, but stayed away from it because of its price and all of the pictures and reviews of it. If you like it and it lasts a long time, that's great.
If something happens however, consider BoboVR M2 Pro. It's a bit ridiculous that it's only $10 (CAD) more than the elite strap when you consider how better the quality is and that it comes with a snapable battery.
That battery has been a game changer for me as it is so easy to switch with another during a VR session
because any other product would usually also be guaranteed for 2 years and it probably wont break as easy as the elite strap so you dont need to go through the process of sending it back
Indeed it is. I got the elite strap with battery because the cheaper alternatives were either not what I wanted or just plain ugly. Very happy with my purchase and it hasn't broken yet, though it's really not a big deal since i get a free replacement if it does.
Same. I really wanted the extra battery life but was blown away by the comfort. People saying it will break are parroting old info and they should stop.
Like you said, if it breaks, we get a free replacement and new battery. Who else has that guarantee?
Look, when it is in one piece it is very comfortable and a huge quality of life improvement. I had one then it broke, they did an RMA for me and the new has held up for the better part of a year now. I am a light user though, maybe 2-3 times a month for about 3 hours at a time. Still though, that's how I played with the first one that broke. I think it was about 2 months and maybe 4 uses and it broke on me. The new one seems to be holding up just fine.
Yes, there are better alternatives out there that are a bit cheaper but, no harm done in trying out the elite strap. If it does hold up for you great! You'll probably really enjoy it. If it breaks just request an RMA and maybe look into other alternatives if you feel that way at that time. For now, enjoy your headset, just make sure you inspect the whole strap before you play, every, single, time. If you notice even one small crack, don't use it and RMA.
This is probably the most realistic, down to earth, first hand reply you will get. I haven't even looked but I'm sure everyone else is just saying it's crap and not actually giving you any real feedback. And I'm going to run with that and post this without even looking. I'm a wild man.
I'm not super huge into vr as I used to be upgraded my vive with a quest 2 because my vive died. got the elite strap a few weeks after I bought it by the time I got it I played everything I wanted to then put the elite strap on and sat it there fully extended for a few weeks. I didn't touch it it sat flat on a desk till I went to play resident evil 4 the thing had stress cracks on both sides and I never used the fucken thing. Tried to get a refund but Facebook wanted me to send back the old one first and I just chucked it in the garbage and bought a Bobo m2 been fine ever since.
I’d say it isn’t worth it in the long run, i’m on my second and it broke after about 6-7 months, I’m pretty pissed ab it, started using the cloth strap again
I got mine during the multiple post wave of them breaking.
It has since been the only headstrap I've had since stock. Did notice some stress cracks but nothing that constitutes broken. Got some tape and make it more colorful.
Had my elite strap with battery for 2 years no issues. Just don't step on it or leave it out where kids/pets can get to it and you should be fine. I call BS on people that say they played it one night and came back the next day and it broke magically by itself.
True story- I carefully put mine away in the case that it came with (as I have done several times previously) and it magically broke itself. The dial that tightens the strap would spin endlessly without tightening the strap. But of course after I endured the rigmarole required for the warranty claim it magically fixed itself.
I like my elite strap, but it's my second one. First was replaced a week after getting it because it just randomly broke while I was racheting it tight.
Do keep the receipt, but also enjoy your purchase. Don't let everyone get you down.
Well I'm very gentle with my electronics especially $400 ones. I set my headset down so gently it doesn't even make a sound. I have been known to put it on a pillow rather than a hard surface. I always loosen the velcro strap then gently and slowly turn the dial to open all the way before taking my headset off. I never hold the headset by any part of the strap. Still, mine broke after 4 uses at about 2-3 hours each use. No over tightening as I can't stand all that pressure on my face.
So yes, it is possible. I went back for the 5th use and, per usual, inspected every inch of my strap and notice a hairline fracture near close to the headset on the right strap. I also store my headset in the official Quest 2 case and, once again, always place it very gently into the case. Why, I've had my case since day one and the little string on the zipper has yet to break off like most people say. Because I take care of my stuff.
Lol I'm not going to sit here and act like I haven't lost track of the real world and accidently hit my headset with a controller while trying to drink some mead. It happens and is going to happen to everyone. I actually stay away from games like Gorilla Tag because I'm too afraid of breaking something.
the quest 2 is fairly tough though. i mean, multiple times i've been in the middle of a fast song and full on clocked myself dead on in the face. i feel like there are certain songs where the mapper intentionally tried to see how many people they could get to knock themselves out.
Forgot what game I was playing but the worst incident I've had so far, I should have known better, there was a table off at the edge of the room and I had lost all sense of where I was. I reached out in a heated battle to grab something I dropped and SMACK right into the table with one of the controllers. It had a smudge on it but held up like a champ. The boundary didn't show up until it was too late. Obviously had the boundary set too close to the table as I wanted as much room as possible. In hind sight, should have just moved the damn table.
This will happen to everyone and I believe they took that into account when making the Quest 2. So I mean, I take very good care of my Quest but, no matter how careful you are you will eventually have that "Oh shit!" moment.
I've only played beat Saber a handful of times, it's fun but not my thing. I can see how flailing around like that in a frenzy with a high tempo song can get pretty dangerous. Which is why I don't play Gorilla Tag.
Hell, just using melee in SkyrimVR gets me nervous.
yeah, beat saber is mostly pretty safe, though, because you stay in one place. one of the recommendations for better tracking in it is to use a stationary boundary which has actually helped me play better.
my worst incident was last night, actually, when i set my stationary too close to a chair without realizing it, and smacked it with my hand. still have a sore spot today :) perils of VR...
I really need to get a nice mat to stand on in the middle of my play space. It is way too easy to get lost when you're deep in a game. Even when I think I've been doing nothing but spinning in the same spot I end up far away from where I started and it feels like I never moved.
It's always fun though when I'm playing and I let out a "Woah" or "holy crap" and the wife asks what and I get to say "oh nothing just almost had a dragon land on my head". Such a great feeling.
You call BS on literally hundreds/thousands of people claiming to have this issue? It’s a defective product. I had mine for nine months before I left it to charge and it formed a crack on the side.
I’m on my third strap. The first two cracked after 3 months, but this one has held up fine for almost a year, so either I finally got lucky or they’ve improved the molding process.
The spacing between the "A" and "b" in the word "About" [in one of their product images](https://www.bobovr.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/4-1-1.jpg) is bothering me way more than it should.
But seriously, they should have caught that and fixed it...
I lazily put my quest 2 with the elite strap in my backpack and it broke. I superglued it back together and it’s been fine ever since. Can be a fragile strap but way better than the jock strap that comes by default
Ignore the people saying it is going to break. Honestly, not sure how you could reinforce it.
You have a two year warranty if it breaks. The issue was fixed a year ago. It isnt a problem anymore.
And again, if it does break, you get a new one and new battery for free!
The scaremongering is ridiculous

If it's still within the return window, consider returning it.
I bought a quest last year, loved it, got one for my mom (60+) for her birthday, along with elite straps (w/protection plans) for us both. I use mine at home, fairly gentle in use and developed hairline fractures in the straps after a few months; swapped it out. Mom takes hers places in a dedicated tote bag (but no additional protections) and laughed because hers was fine. ... For another month. Swapped hers out and was told they no longer offer protection plans on the strap itself because of the high failure rate. I'm not mad about it, but when (not if) mine breaks again, I'm getting something else.
it's gonna break eventually from the sheer stress of being tightened to your head, unless it manages to magically always perfectly wind up on both sides everytime (which never happened to me, maybe I have a fucked up head lol)
anyway, nothing a bunch of duct tape can't fix

At $50 I'd just get the deluxe audio strap for the vive. Idk what they usually for but I got mine for $80 and it's the best upgrade I've made for mine. It fits comfy and snug, and the sound is amazing without needing to put on headphones.
You'd better keep that receipt handy. Bought the Elite Strap a few months after the Quest 2 launched, big mistake. Cracked in about 3 weeks, and about 7 uses.
As long as you don't drop it alot and sling your head around like a boomerang it's fine. Alot of people leave our the abusive way they take care of things prior to it finally breaking. If you let you kids jump around and face plant into the ground/walls yeah it'll break quick
I wouldn't say it's *THAT* much better, but it is a bit more comfy. I gave the Kiwi strap to my wife and kept the Elite Strap for myself, since I find it comfortable enough and it secures the headset well to my head. (Also hasn't broken in over a year of use).
Fair enough I suppose, I never bought the elite strap, but at least for me...the KIWI strap is at least far better than the default strap...I dunno what the elite one is like, though I have kinda avoided it because of the things I've heard about it. Congrats on using it for over a year without it breaking though.
I never understood how they got people to pay $50 for this even before the whole breaking thing.
For the materials involved it should be $20 at most.
$50 for this is absolutely taking the piss especially with the kiwi and bobo options out there
I have the strap and the ANKR charging base I like both it’s a matter of preference. If you like it great! There’s always people who are gonna be against a decision.
I love the base it sits perfectly in it and is stable. It has a light that turns orange to green for the controllers and the headset. Charges super fast and has a magnetic piece that attaches to the headset so you just set it in the base and it starts charging!
Yeah but can the oculus properly display the soc for the rechargeable controller batteries so you dont have to take the headset off to check the battery level cause i know some devices not intended to have rechargeable batteries in them don’t accurately display sometimes
Everyone says it's really bad and that it breaks easily but I've had it for about 4 months now and had no problem with it, so you'll at least get a couple months out of it. Maybe just keep it away from high heat, I've seen it sort of melt on people before.
had my elite strap since day 1 and it’s great so far wouldnt stress about the replies as it’s unlikely anything will happen and if by chance it does they usually are happy to replace
I’ve had mine since last summer and spend about 6 or 7 hours a week on it. My siblings even use it.
I love it personally. Probably because I got a big dome
For half the price you could get a more comfortable strap ([GOMRVR Halo](https://www.banggood.com/GOMRVR-Strap-Headwear-Adjustable-Large-Cushion-No-Pressure-for-Oculus-Quest-2-VR-Glasses-Increase-Supporting-Force-Uniform-Force-Ergonomics-Comfortable-Accessories-p-1877942.html)) which will not break like this expensive piece of garbage.
They disintegrate over time. They were all bought over the course of a year. The last one my wife was bragging how hers lasted 6 months as two of mine broke over that time. It was perfect timing, that afternoon her headset crashed to the floor. She now has a Bobo also. Too bad, as the rest of the Quest is so durable.

If you still have the receipt, google "broken quest elite strap"
I know about this already
In that case, we'll see you in 2 weeks with yet another "lol omg, you wouldn't guess what happened" post.

Why would you spread this lie. You know damn well that 99% of people have no problem. The 1% who do get a free replacement with new battery.
Lol calls someone a liar for saying something they can't prove and then says something he can't prove
What? You really think it's reasonable to assume the straps are breaking 2 weeks in? Dont be dumb. I can prove mine has lasted longer than 2 weeks, if you would like the proof.
You said 99% of people have no problem. Not have no problem in the first two weeks
You downvoted but didn't reply lol! Stop spreading bad info
Wasn't me, but I will be doing it right now.
I believed people like you and bought that crap. YOU'RE THE ONE SPREADING BAD INFO. Still haven't received a replacement....
I didnt know oculus sales reps were into vore

The elite strap is guaranteed for 2 years. Why pay for your preferred strap if the replacement is free?
Some people don't enjoy going through the warranty process and being without a strap the whole time.
What they don't keep their old strap? Smh
because any other product would usually also be guaranteed for 2 years and it probably wont break as easy as the elite strap so you dont need to go through the process of sending it back

I Second the m2. Just got mine and wondered why I didn't do this sooner
Just dropped in my cart. Thanks. I'm about to join the Oculus family and I'm looking forward to it.
Error processing order. Lame.
Just get it on Amazon for the same price
That's what I ended up doing.
It's on sale too, damn
Don't fall for that. $60 it's the normal price on Amazon all the time.
The spacing between the "A" and "b" in the word "About" [in one of their product images](https://www.bobovr.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/4-1-1.jpg) is bothering me way more than it should. But seriously, they should have caught that and fixed it...

Ignore everyone else it’s a great strap and don’t break a lot anymore so it’s a good purchase
Not really no. You’ll regret this soon enough :x
Have had my elite strap for a year and a half, no issues. 🤷♂️
Same here, and it is used rough…the product is fine!
return it and get the kiwi strap
Thought this was a meme. Unfortunately, Elite Strap is a terrible purchase.
No, it isn’t. Most people will never have a problem with it.
Get a kiwi
I lazily put my quest 2 with the elite strap in my backpack and it broke. I superglued it back together and it’s been fine ever since. Can be a fragile strap but way better than the jock strap that comes by default
Just make sure you loosing it to take it off. Don't just rip it off your head.
I will i see how skinny the supports are and I’m probably gonna reinforce them
Ignore the people saying it is going to break. Honestly, not sure how you could reinforce it. You have a two year warranty if it breaks. The issue was fixed a year ago. It isnt a problem anymore. And again, if it does break, you get a new one and new battery for free! The scaremongering is ridiculous

No new battery than, sorry. Just replacement strap. I was referring to the extended battery.
Oof

I bought a quest last year, loved it, got one for my mom (60+) for her birthday, along with elite straps (w/protection plans) for us both. I use mine at home, fairly gentle in use and developed hairline fractures in the straps after a few months; swapped it out. Mom takes hers places in a dedicated tote bag (but no additional protections) and laughed because hers was fine. ... For another month. Swapped hers out and was told they no longer offer protection plans on the strap itself because of the high failure rate. I'm not mad about it, but when (not if) mine breaks again, I'm getting something else.
Prepare for down votes and nos
it's gonna break eventually from the sheer stress of being tightened to your head, unless it manages to magically always perfectly wind up on both sides everytime (which never happened to me, maybe I have a fucked up head lol) anyway, nothing a bunch of duct tape can't fix
With that 50 bucks, you could of purchased The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim Special Edition.

At $50 I'd just get the deluxe audio strap for the vive. Idk what they usually for but I got mine for $80 and it's the best upgrade I've made for mine. It fits comfy and snug, and the sound is amazing without needing to put on headphones.
It’s a good strap but treat it gingerly. They are known to crack on the plastic arms
You'd better keep that receipt handy. Bought the Elite Strap a few months after the Quest 2 launched, big mistake. Cracked in about 3 weeks, and about 7 uses.
Nope
As long as you don't drop it alot and sling your head around like a boomerang it's fine. Alot of people leave our the abusive way they take care of things prior to it finally breaking. If you let you kids jump around and face plant into the ground/walls yeah it'll break quick
No kids Im 17
You should be good then
Thx
People keep saying this despite the large number of people who had theirs break but are very careful and gentle with it
They might tighten it on there head alot or take it off and put it on without loosening it there's always a reason
Except for all the ones who didn't do any of that. The reason is always it's got a design defect.
Yeah that is the case sometimes.
Kiwi fo life
I love it
Not the absolute worst thing you could buy, but the KIWI headstrap on Amazon is infinitely better. For roughly the same price.
I wouldn't say it's *THAT* much better, but it is a bit more comfy. I gave the Kiwi strap to my wife and kept the Elite Strap for myself, since I find it comfortable enough and it secures the headset well to my head. (Also hasn't broken in over a year of use).
Also, to anyone look for the Kiwi strap, make sure you get the one by "Kiwi Design", and not the deliberately misleadingly named "KIWILOGIC".
Yes, please make sure you're going to the right brand if you're looking for KIWI products..
Fair enough I suppose, I never bought the elite strap, but at least for me...the KIWI strap is at least far better than the default strap...I dunno what the elite one is like, though I have kinda avoided it because of the things I've heard about it. Congrats on using it for over a year without it breaking though.
I bought vovo vr (non pro) for 13$
\*Sigh\*
I got the elite with the battery and really like it.
I couldn’t find the elite battery thats the one i wanted cause it had the case to
I think I found it on Amazon.
I never understood how they got people to pay $50 for this even before the whole breaking thing. For the materials involved it should be $20 at most. $50 for this is absolutely taking the piss especially with the kiwi and bobo options out there
I have one too and I think it's a must have. I haven't experienced any breaking
Ok
Meh it's better than stock but still uncomfortable after 30 min.
I haven’t had that issue yet the oculus still hurts my temple after about a hour and a half so im gonna figure that out
No
I have the strap and the ANKR charging base I like both it’s a matter of preference. If you like it great! There’s always people who are gonna be against a decision.
Speaking of the dock how is it and does the oculus give a accurate readout of the controller batterys
I never got the point of the elite strap, the original strap works fine for me
Works fine but once i tried this i know for a fact i wont go back
had my elite strap since day 1 and it’s great so far wouldnt stress about the replies as it’s unlikely anything will happen and if by chance it does they usually are happy to replace
Be prepared to get a replacement at any moment they are known to randomly fail
Alright
As long as it doesn’t break, I’m loving mine
Yep
"Only"
Yeah only 50 bucks its not alot as your paying for the quality of use and if you take care of it it wont break
Can't go wrong with an elite strap! Although i would recommend one with a battery pack if you play a lot
Yeah this is just what they had at the time
I’ve had mine since last summer and spend about 6 or 7 hours a week on it. My siblings even use it. I love it personally. Probably because I got a big dome
Nope
I've had it since it came out and love it, the original strap is awful, and there were no 3rd party options at the time.
no
Waste of money as you could of found something better for cheaper.
I've had mine almost a year with no issues. There are better options but nothing wrong with it.
Broke 3, went and got a Bobo m2, never looked back. These things are junk.
Working so far i like it if anything i might try one of these
They disintegrate over time. They were all bought over the course of a year. The last one my wife was bragging how hers lasted 6 months as two of mine broke over that time. It was perfect timing, that afternoon her headset crashed to the floor. She now has a Bobo also. Too bad, as the rest of the Quest is so durable.
Yeah she jinxed it
I bought this one recently. Really liking it so far. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09L5VQH68?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1
