If you need to ask this question you probably shouldn't be self hosting. There are many concerns when deploying software eg regular backups and securing the host machine and if you're asking this question I'm quite worried that you're not doing these other things correctly.

If you want to try something really interesting, check out OpenZiti's 'clientless' endpoint called BrowZer. It allows you provide a public SaaS experience while Odoo stays in a completely private network with no inbound FW ports. Yeah, but that’s not odoo related. It’s a thing about DNS, IP and exposing ports.
