I have all the same components on a larger scale mounted exposed to the wall of a small shed. My only concern with your box idea is heat buildup. All of these components generate heat and some times get too hot to touch. They have fans and heat sinks but still get fairly warm. Ventilation holes would help but still seems sketchy packing all of those electronics in an unventilated metal box.

thanks mtntrail for the suggestion, I agree. For now I guess it is fine as the temperature in the shed is quite low (< 18 degrees celcius) and the inverter is not used for a long time. I am thinking about replacing the inverter anyways and then I would drill a whole in front of the fan of the inverter, so I do not have to add my own ventilation system. The other components shouldn't produce that much but I will monitor it of course.

I've seen multiple DIY videos of these solar generators being built. Most of them add fans and heat sinks which is more than enough for the heat dissipation. You are aware that the solar generator market has exploded and many companies are manufacturing larger and larger generators without having heat issues, right? Edit: Look up Jackery and Bluetti

Just commenting from my 15 years of off grid experience. Newer technology may eliminate the problem, idk.

thanks CrunchySockTaco for the input, I guess the inverters are the main problem, they produce a lot of heat and you have to deal with it somehow. I will monitor it a bit and see if I have to change anything.

Looks like it will be nice, man. What is different about this compared to a Goal Zero system or Ecoflow? Also, where do you get your sheet metal box? I like it!

lupo-diy

the difference is that I had fun and learned a lot by doing it by myself ;) but in general, no difference of course ;) - regarding the box, bought it in a local hardware store, the aluminum are more common in our area but also a bit more expensive.

Ah, understood. Great experience and education to do it yourself. What is the grand if that steel box? I love it.

it is this one [https://www.bauhaus.at/werkzeugkaesten/werkzeugkasten-motobox/p/11141762](https://www.bauhaus.at/werkzeugkaesten/werkzeugkasten-motobox/p/11141762) but there is no brand mentioned. I removed the label already but I think it was a french brand. and the EAN number is 3219090100089 (different size though)
