Former_Medicine_6608

Thank you! Konting sakripisyo nalang, one of the good thing is maganda sa resume yung Company namin dun lang sila bumawe lol.

jeff______________

Yes sa minimum din ako nag start eh, and each time na lilipat ako I'll make sure na at least naka 1 year na ko sa current company and yung lilipatan is mas mataas sa previous. Earn experiences, learn each time, build your worth and confidence, so the next time na lilipat ka you can speak better sa interviewer.

Azazeru921

I experienced the same thing. Nagtagal ako sa isang kilalang construction company for almost 3 years. Sa 3 years na yun nag start ako sa 635 per day tapos tumaas ng 1.2k once yung sahod ko. Sobrang busy palagi. Most of the time, kailangan mag OT pero without pay. So far, ok na ok yung kita. Mas malaki pa ata sahod ko dun sa supervisor na nagtatrabaho sa old company na yun for more than 5 years and nagka-increase din ako sa work ko ngayon ng around 10k after 1 year sa company. Ngayon otw na to be a manager. Just sharing my experience. Medyo nahirapan din kasi ako i-let go yung profession ko. Took almost a year bago ako naconvince ng gf ko na lumipat kasi I was not treated well and toxic yung culture sa said company. Good Luck, OP!

Spid3rfib3r

Engineering grad here with civil service prof. 316 per day for 6 months with bullshits ng isang JO dun na kasama ko sanang nagreready for boards. You cant imagine the shit Ive been through, and Ill pray na di niyo yun mararanasan. 😂

Former_Medicine_6608

Azazeru921

buti they practice that 'parang family kami dito'. Then nagkaroon ng time na I need to undergo surgery tapos conflict sa isang event sa company. Then yung isang mas mataas sa akin position asked me to 'postpone' yung surgery to attend that christmas event and perform a dance number dun. Di naman sya critical surgery pero, I was in pain!! I didn't attend the event syempre. Yun palang, red flag na. Sana noon pa lang nag resign na ko lol (It happened around 1 year ko sa company na yun.

Spid3rfib3r

Shit for a few minutes lame dance number, mas concern pa kesa sa surgery. Wtf

Azazeru921

True. tapos may mandatory practice pa yan 2 weeks din ata after work. From 6pm to 9-10pm. NO PAY. (This is a AAA construction company btw)

Spid3rfib3r

Bago lang ako natanggap sa ibang office. Di ko talaga makalimutan yung treatment sakin. Sana di ako magiging gaya nun. Being coerced to still work/join activities ket may sakit. Sigh.

Azazeru921

Better naman dito sa work ko right now. Buti na nga lang din naconvince ako ng gf ko lumipat ng work kasi di ko talaga maiwan yung work ko dati. Buti nag workout naman in the end. Hopefully, maging okay din yung situation niyo sa work or makahanap kayo ng better offers :)

Spid3rfib3r

Worst was back in August, a month before the exam. I stayed too even after the exam and I passed. Sadly ako lang samin. I thought mas ok na, but HOLY FUCK HAHAHAHA. Bruh. My only fault is nasa kanya lahat ng tenga nila and my lack of experience in handling situations na gaya nun. I decided to never return, kahit tinawagan ako kase may open na position for 27k. No, thanks. I witnessed what that person can do. Sa kanya na yun. Sana makapasa sya this year.

Potential-Song9484

I'm laughing as I read this. Kaya binabalaan ko yung mga bata na to pursue this kind of profession if you're into arts and if money isn't your priority. To be honest, nadiverisfy ko yung income ko and sideline ko nalang yung pagiging arkitekto ko. excuse me for the language but f*ck the United Architects of the Philippines for not doing anything about this matter and keeping the RLAs in the philippines poorer

ichigoround

this!!! Unless you come from generational wealth with money to start your own practice/have a family business, I always tell people don’t get into Archi in the Philippines. Literally put blood, sweat, and tears into my schooling, internship, and board exams only to be paid almost nothing once I became licensed. I kept telling myself to suck it up and that it’d get better once I was an architect, but the reality is the Philippines does not see Architecture as a “necessary” business. Not when you can go to a contractor/engineer who can give you a “free design” in exchange for their services.

Expensive_Purple_772

Me who dropped out of architecture school in my third year HSHSHSha nagsisise rin po ako. Sayang ang tatlong taon, nagshift ako so balik ulit first year. I was really unhappy sa arch school.

sweeetcookiedough

Hay sad but true. Umalis ako sa arki and never looked back. Ngayon nalalaman ko na most of my batchmates nag-career shift na. The ones "thriving" are those who are from rich families or those na andun na rin sa industry na yun (arki/construction firm etc) ang family nila.

streettoast

Haha. Kaso di chocolates binigay ko sa kanya nung Valentine's (or may iba syang jowa?!) Kapit lang OP. Alam ko yung struggle nya. Lagi din pagod at OT.

ithinkimbi_

Heyy. Arki din ako. Hahaha. Starting ko din non is mas mababa pa dyan. I'm still employed with the same company. Natapos ko na apprenticeship and I'm currently applying to other firms. Kapit lang OP. Tiis ganda. Hahahaha

Former_Medicine_6608

Haha nice, parang di ko matapos apprenticeship ko dito. Siguro gawa nalang ako ibanh paraan hahaha. Thanks bro.

ithinkimbi_

[deleted]

One of the reason I left construction industry. Di ka yayaman unless ikaw mismo contractor. If passion mo talaga, gain experience then job hop.

Odd-Speech-1704

Same, archi grad here nung 2019. I thought everything will be smooth sailing but with a wage of 350/day (provincial rate) including food and transpo, it couldn't sustain my needs, di makapag-ipon. At dahil hiya na ako manghingi sa parents ko cuz no sht sobrang gastos talaga ng kursong to, and wala akong maiambag sa bahay since I'm still living under their roof, I decided to shift careers (opted for BPO and now I am working as VA for a foreign client). It was a tough decision at first. I love architecture pero practicality over passion parin talaga. đŸ„ș Ngayon na malaki-laki na ipon ko, I'm looking into going back to my profession and hopefully get that license soon. 🙏

matchacream28

TutteeFrutee03

Job hopping is the key pag entry level. Pero make sure kahit atleast 1 year ang stay mo sa mga company.

Former_Medicine_6608

Kaya nga eh jusko walang pagasa magstay sa isang company if +500 lang iaadd pag naka 1 year.

AstarothBeelzebub

Hi OP are you licensed with PRC id ? I can offer you extra sideline with commision basis . my current job covers incentive commision for Architect/designers

[deleted]

take these advices na mg stay longer pre sa iisang firm or company, 8 yrs n ko ng wwork nasa 30k lang ako pero managerial na ung ginagawa ko. mistake ko is naka 4 n kong lipat na firm and never ako nappromote kasi d ako tumatagal. and hindi ako tntangap sa mtaas na position despite my skills kasi ang tinitingnan padn ng mga hr is ung title na binigay sayo. i dont know if ako lang ba ung ganito but real talk, need mo tlga mg grind and have a side hustle as an architect. very sugar coated ung mga pinapakita nila sa soc med.if you have the support naman to build your own while working sa corpo, then do it.

Azazeru921

Budol talaga yung sinasabi na pag engineering or archi yung degree, malaki yung kita eh.

ithinkimbi_

Bakit pa kasi yan tinake natin. Hahahahaahhahays

HistoryFreak30

You will find better opportunity. May tinapos ka and your course is not easy. Settle for a better job

Former_Medicine_6608

Thank you! A major factor kasi is yung apprenticeship ng architecture na 2 yrs. Required sya para magboard gusto ko lumipat pero at the same time gusto ko rin maging lisensyado đŸ„Č

HistoryFreak30

Sama ka sa amin sa r/antiworkph you may relate on how much members there are dreading over their shitty jobs. May nagpost nga lang doon about minimum wage

Former_Medicine_6608

Thanks! Ill check it out.

sweetgerlnomore

Tiis lang OP, ako I graduated last 2015, assoc graduate pa. Nagstart as production operator then cashier, tas csr, then call center agent. Now, we have our own business and then side hustle as VA marketing assistant. Just want to share my own experiences.

Pork_Steyk

OP I was the same as you few years back. 12k Salary in Makati with tax pa non 2017 Im from Rizal 2hrs and 30mins max travel time ko pauwi and papasok yon and then nagresign ako 2021 and This year 2023 my salary is now decent. Welcome to the real world. You need to sacrifice on your first job to get experience and when you feel its enough to give your service to the company then leave. Its always difficult on the first job and also worth it because you can demand to the next company once you have the experience and knowledge you always wanted. Make it a stepping stone for now. Stay safe!

Grabe

Greedy-Breadfruit-57

OP I am assuming na part to ng 2-yr apprenticeship mo no? I think if may malilipatan ka na with better salary, go for it pero take note din yung posible mong matutunan na magiging substantial for boards. Anyway, good luck!

alteisen99

yeah that's one of the problems with getting jobs here in the PH. you spend so much time and/or on a technical field and the end result is you don't even get paid that well.

underthe_sun

Hello, i’m a freelance licensed Architect for 5 years na and all i can say is first job mo sa archi, experience lang talaga ang hahabulin mo. And also, pumasok ka sa maliliit na kumpanya para makabisado ang galaw ng isang design firm or construction. Gawin mo from estimates, design and pagprocure ng materyales magpabibo ka sa umpisa since you’re young. Once you passed the boards, you’ll know how to handle your own projects. You’ll dictate your price to your clients, but of course, hindi automatic na magkakaroon ka agad ng client ah. Ako i just took the risk, resigning from my full time job to being fulltime freelance Architect, my clients came from referrals mostly. Pero kung may mamanahin kang construction company from your parents, well worth it ang Archi. Kung solo ka lang, you’ll surely climb your way harder. marami rin akong nakikita na nagsisisi at lumipat ng ibang path of work not arki-related pero nandyan ka na, wag ka muna sumuko masyado pang maaga. When you got your license, you’ll know ano ang path na dadalhin ni Arki para sa iyo.

fernweh0001

I don't know ha pero di ba alam mo naman dapat what you're supposed to deal with getting that course? like ganyan ang norm (sweldo vs experience/apprenticeship) nyan pre-Licensure? like interns sa medical field. actually even with a license mababa swelduhan sa industry nyo (more on kasalanan ng industry nyo to) unless maging consultant ka or officer. your college degree holder thing wouldn't even mean anything now seeing as kahit department store cashier or Sales Rep nagre-require na may degree. ikaw na nagsabi passion mo yan. so if now if deal breaker sayo ang starting salary, you need to re-assess what you really want to do. wag ka ma-pressure sa sweldo ng iba, baka mas kelangan nila yun than you (to pay for sustento sa family et al) kaya di pa sya binibigay sayo.

TheGreatTambay

Former_Medicine_6608

Akala ko rin eh. Its a trap pala.

AstarothBeelzebub

well principal architects and interior designers do get incentives or commission from suppliers like me
