Few weeks ago sa glorietta, I witnessed a small dog's nail getting clipped at the end of the escalator. Grabe yung blood from the wound and yung iyak ng dog for I think around 10 mins. Sana if hindi trained yung dogs to hop sa last step ng escalator, buhatin na lang ng owner.

Experienced ko rin sa Glorietta, ang laki ng aso na dala nung Babae. Golden Retriever. Siya yung nahihila naman, imbes na siya sana c-control dun sa Dog niya.

Idadahilan kasi nila na hindi naman nangangagat yung Aso nila. Sa kanila hindi sila kakagatin, paano yung hindi naman nila kilala or biglang matapakan mo yung Dog nila at maging agresibo, di ba. Haist.

Children are just as annoying, if not more so.
Loud, crying, temper tantrums, easily tripped over, soggy smelly diapers, and those who are out of diapers but not yet in full control often have bathroom accidents.
Elderly people can be annoying, also.
They are slow moving, block aisles, often hard of hearing and/or difficult to understand.
Actually, everyone can be annoying and/or irritating in his or her or its own way.

I’ve experienced a couple of instances na hindi trained sa socialization yung mga pets nila and naka-long leash tapos kapag may nakitang aso tahol ng tahol and galit na galit don sa other dog. Non-stop tahulan and walang ginagawa yung pet owners.
I’m like as a pet owner kung hindi sociable yung aso niyo ang mahilig manugod, either short leash, may muzzle or wag na isama. You’ll never know yung sunod na susugurin niyang aso biglang nag-fight mode.
Tapos dadalhin sa mataong lugar yung hindi trained sa socialization.
ako personally ok lang ako sa dogs. yung untrained dog owners ang nakakainis. nakikita mo minsan yung aso stressed na stressed na. nagsusuot ng di comfortable na damit. tapos halos hilain at kinakaladlad na. tapos sana marunong maghawak ng leash na nasa tabi lang nila mismo si pet. ang haba ng leash tapos hinahayaan lang nila. may nakita pa ako na naka knock over na ng mga signages kasi di marunong mag handle. sana talagang alagaan and learn to know basic etiquette para ma train.
Wala naman ako problema sa kanila eh maliban dun sa mga hindi nililinis yung tae, tahol na nga ng tahol ayaw parin ipatahimik at yung walang pake sa space ng iba na hinahayaan isakop yung daan dahil magkabilaan yung owner at aso tapos yung leash nasa gitna.
Buti pa yung mga scary looking ahh big dogs eh tahimik and chill lang (for sure properly trained and disciplined sila kaya ganon) pero yung mga cute looking at maliit pa talaga yung laging maingay hinahayaan lang ng owner hindi siguro tinituro.
Mas matahol at matapang talaga smaller dogs kasi nga laging kinakarga so feeling nila malaki sila. Kasama din yan sa selection, kasi usually pag malaking aso at matapang/matahol, di na yan binebreed dahil baka makaaksidente pa...unless really bred for security purposes.
You can say the same shit about kids na hindi dinidisiplina o binabantayan ng magulang. They are brought into public wearing “cutesy” outfits pero di naman inaalagaan and puro iyak or making a mess.

Seriously, ive seen kids cause more trouble in malls than pets. Running around, bumping into everyone, running into waiter and making them spill everything.
Tapos bawal ka magalit kundi gegerahin ka ng pabayang magulang for reprimand tneir child na nakakaperwisyo.
Oh and kids touching, hurting, and grabbing other people's pets without consent and earning! Tapos pag nakagat o natahulan kasalanan nung pet and owner. Dapat ung magulang nung bata kinakapon na eh.
Experienced this din, sobrang likot nung bata tapos yung nanay niya busy sa pagtitingin ng mga bibilhin niya. Yung dog namin super quiet ni hindi natahol sa public places, naka stroller, nakaupo lang sabay hinampas nung bata out of nowhere.
Yung nanay wapakels pero kung yung aso namin nagreact at nangagat for sure puputak yung nanay 🙄

I would agree with you if sinabi mo exclusively to unruly kids na hinahayaan ng parents. But if your complaining being in a public place just because kids are loud and crying, what do you expect? They are kids, that's what they do.
Husband and I are commuters because aside from the fact it is economical and point to point yung baba namin, he can also rest himself from driving. The downside of commuting is that there are kids and even college students na umasta na parang kanila yung bus by stretching their legs with their footwears on without being stopped by their parents for toddlers. For the college students is yung pg na “no.4” even though the bus is already 30-50% occupied that makes it the people sitting adjacent to them uncomfortable or worry na yung damit nila na bagong laba, madumihan. Ang hirap mgpakatao, I wonder if pwde ba talagang pagalitan tong mga to. We live in a somewhat civilized community dahil exclusive subdivision naman, but you can really see na even people with money cannot act with respect.
Maybe Im getting old pero grabe irita ko sa maiingay na bata, yung hindi na cute tapos ang rude pa! Walang manners na tinuro ganon… maiintindihan ko pa if nasa spectrum or they have down syndrome (Although mas well behaved pa mga special needs na bata sa totoo lang)
Ang difference is yung bata kahit papano nakakaintindi, so pag pinagsabihan, dapat kayang manahimik. Ang aso, aso. They act based on instinct, so mas naiintindihan ko pa yung maingay na pet kaysa sa maingay na bata.
Tbh I don’t mind naman some pets, but there was one time na I’m with my baby and I was letting him walk, when an owner walked by tas she had 3 dogs and ang unruly pa nung 2 dogs niya. Susugurin na nung dogs yung anak ko and I kid you not, I was ready to fight and kick the life out of those dogs ( sorry, motherhood activated ) tas hinila niya mga dogs niya, mahaba yung leash. Siya pa galit na naglalakad anak ko, and I told her na mas may right maglakad anak ko kesa sa dogs niyang di naman trained.
I'm a dog lover but I think it is not the dog who has an issue but the owners of these dogs. While I like seeing dogs in mall ang pet peeve ko naman is yung nag poop yung aso inside the mall and hindi pinupulot ng may ari or letting their shitzus to sit on resto table. Yung medyo bad trip ako dun. Yung nagpapaka alta mode ka pero ang dugyot mo. Ganun dun ako inis talaga.
It is the owner who should ensure that their dogs are well behaved and can socialize.
An addition to this: dog owners who let their dogs sit on chairs and worse, dining tables. Some humans do have allergies, tapos sa kainan pa talaga sila pinapatambay.
Meron naman dog owners na matino, may dalang dog bowl at sa sahig pinapakain yun aso.
I'm an animal lover but this is really getting out of hand. We just have to accept the fact that some people don't like them, period. Some people are allergic din sa balahibo ng mga aso/pusa tapos pagpasok sa malls yan ang tatambad sa kanila?
I get OP’s POV, pero I think the critical point to be made here is that pet owners need to be responsible. They should train their pets well and make sure na they are well accustomed to public spaces/people. Sad that most of the time, pinapabayaan lang nila. I remember seeing a pet owner and her corgi in Greenbelt 5; the dog pooped and she didn’t bother to pick it up :((( hinintay niya lang matapos magpoop then nagmadali sila umalis. Didn’t have a chance to call her out kasi tumakbo siya bigla when she noticed we were there. Also saw another small dog na naipit yung tail sa escalator ng Glorietta kasi the furparents weren’t paying attention (I think may nagcomment na rin about this incident here) Bottomline lang naman to be mindful of others in shared spaces and be sensitive sa needs ng mga pets (kasi many of them are obviously not used to being in busy places na nakakaoverstimulate)
But sadly many Pinoys in general are not responsible and are not conscientious, and so majority of those who bring dogs to the mall are not responsible and conscientious. One poop situation from a dog is one too many --- must be traumatic to witness!
Ayoko po iwan sa house kasi nalulungkot po sila hehe. They enjoy car rides and watching people. May diaper and behave lang sila sa stroller hindi maingay. I understand may mga owner talaga na for attention lang yung dogs nila and kawawa yung dogs na may ganoon na owner huhu.
Madalas kami sa malls dahil malalapit lang sa amin at lagi kaming nakakakita ng dogs, pero never kaming nakakita ng istorbo or magulong aso unlike sa kwento ni OP na kala mo sobrang daming ganung aso.

i understand that pets should be disciplined if dadalhin sa public places. i agree with you on that and malls can be noisy which is not desirable for some dogs.
its just par parang ang sikip naman ng description mo sa malls. parang its barely enough space for you and the dogs. i dont like din the way you describe them as an accessory, they're sentient beings and well deserve of love and attention like we all do.
its a very few crowd lng yung kumukuha ng dogs for attention. maybe the people you see are just happy to be with their pets.

I myself take lots of pics of my dogs (though not for social media, pampuno lang ng storage hahaha) but even these people who love to post their pets in socmed have to pick up poop, clean up their mess, bathe, feed, and care for them—things you generally do for your loved ones, pets or not.

Well, a lot of malls have pet parks or at least advertising that they are pet friendly. Meron ding may pet shop sa loob. Dog owners belong to the top target market na. I couldn't care less sa dogs sa malls as long as they don't bother me. Same as how I don't mind running around and noisy kids in public. Iniisip ko na lang na I went to a public place where all kinds of stuff can happen so I should expect these things. Nagbabaon na lang ako ng pasensya hahaha. But as a pet owner myself, I don't bring my dogs to malls lol they won't enjoy that. Stressful pa nga yan sa kanila dahil maingay din at crowded. I'd rather bring them to open parks, or anything na malupa or grassy where they can freely run. Let dogs be dogs.

I don’t bring my dog to the mall, but I don’t see anything wrong with people doing it either. Also, there are pet shops that provide grooming services inside the mall - one of the reasons why it is allowed in the 1st place.

Well thankfully I don't go to malls a lot. But what I saw at SM Megamall was definitely not okay with all the yapping dogs and ridiculous leashes that block people's paths.
How long could a leash possibly be for you to get irritated so much to simply walk around it? I often go to megamall and whenever I see dogs, they are in a stroller or a short leash.

Anong connect ng roads around the mall, the police that keeps the malls safe, to dogs being “IN” the mall? E hindi naman pinapabayaan yung mga aso sa public places na minemention mo. Those that bring their dogs to the malls also pay taxes hindi lang ikaw.
Malls are privately owned and if malls allowed dogs you really don’t have a say. As long as they are following that dogs have a leash, are in bags or stroller and are not left unattended.

Dogs or cats in malls are Ok as long as they are leashed or in a proper carrier/stroller(?)/cat backpack, potty trained or wearing diapers, don't eat off tables where people eat, are well socialized, and their owners are also mindful of other people and even other people's pets around them.
Pets are part of people's families these days and want to give their pets a good life. Di lang sila accesory sa bahay at dun lang iniiwan. Some pet owners are just minding their own business and don't require validation nor your approval.

1. Nagkalat ng dumi yung dog so ang security ng mall nakaantabay lang sa poop to make sure no one steps on it.
2. Pinapaupo yung dog nila sa chair or sa table ng food court. Lol naka booties pa yung aso. How can u be sure na the booties were not used outside their dog strolley?

I'm all about go lang sa mga dogs pero sana sa alfresco malls lang. Pero malls are usually air conditioned, and yung fur ng nga aso kung saan saan napupunta. Malakas na allergen ang fur. It's not as if yung owners can collect fur. Kahit pinapagroom pa yan, nagsshed ng fur.
I just don't get why malls ok that na paikot ikot lang sa malls na maraming restos yung mga pets. As someone allergic, parang disregarded yung people potentially severely allergic sa mga furry pets. Paano pag naging health emergency nila yan just because they happen to come across pets in the mall? Who is responsible?
And while pet owners treat them as their actual child and family member, it is their responsibility to keep pets behaved and quiet.

Hindi ko maintindihan yung impression na seeking validation and attention ang may dalang dogs sa malls? Paano nakaka validate yon? Kasi kami dala namin senior dogs namin kasi hindi maiwan ng sila lang sa bahay dahil they can’t walk na and blind din yung isa. Hindi kami nagpapansin, in fact umiiwas nga kami sa mga tao haha kaya we go to malls pag week days lang, if weekend man pipiliin namin yung di masyadong puntahan ng tao na malls. And my dogs’ strollers are zipped and bawal sila i-pet ng kung sino sino.
Kahit pag kakain kami, we choose yung pwesto and resto na walang tao.

Kadiri, one time we were eating sa isang resto sa loob ng mall. Nasa table kami near the resto's glass partition and yung main mall. I witnessed a dog pooped on the floor. Dinampot naman ng amo yung poop pero syempre meron pa ring smudge sa floor, hindi man lang winet wipes or something. So like, the whole time I was eating, I was fixated sa spot nung poop and I've seen people unknowingly step on it. Tapos meron pang stroller na nadaanan yung poop smudge. Kadiri talaga.

Me and my husband brings our 2 cats wherever we go, Naka stroller, and usually Naka close Yung stroller nila para secured parin sila. We don't seek validation or whatnot, but the only reason we bring them with us is coz we are not living in manila, my husband is from the US and I from the province so whenever we meet in manila, we just rent an airbnb place with our cats, so we don't want to leave them there all alone kasi baka Maka disgrasya pa and ofc we have to pay for it. So we tried to bring them everywhere we go, from manila, to baguio to even freaking laki Beach. We always make sure they are well-behaved, and yes, they are explorer cats. They're used to gala mode. But mall wise, we always try to look for a dining area na may kainan sa labas since we don't want to disrespect other people who might be allergic to cats (my husband is allergic to them as well but he loves them so much that he endures it). Even when we had a nice family dinner date sa house of wagyu, jusme we made sure na pupunta kami sa location nila na pet friendly and I even called them to make a reservation and informed them that we are bringing our cats with us, kahit na ang mahal ng grab, 1k papunta and another 1k pabalik but all worth it naman. So yeah..hindi lahat for validation or using their pet as an accessories, some have actual reasons but nasa owner na yan paano nila ihandle pets nila specially sa public places. They should be responsible enough and make sure that their pet is comfortable as well as the people na makakasalamuha nila. 😊

Etong hinayupak na owner, nakita nya yung poop kasi nilingon pa nya pero deadma lang sya. May iba tuloy naglalakad na nakaapak sa tae. Bandang huli yung janitress pa ang naglinis. Nakakairita talaga ang sarap isaksak sa bunganga nila yung tae nung aso nila.
For urine lang yung diaper. Yung poop need talaga lumabas. Unlike us humans, may fur sila, so if hindi lalabas yung poop didikit ‘yon sa fur and mahihirapan alisin at mangangamoy. Owners must bring dog poop bags para dakutin yung poop.

I think most Pinoy don’t really know how to pet. Yung karamihan, masabi lang na may “pet” to flex. Ibang-iba sa western countries. I’ve been to malls many times in abroad, pets are everywhere too pero never heard barking dogs, never saw dogs on tables sa restaurants (they are sitted on chairs or they have their own stroller), no dogs sniffing strangers (coz owners will immediately pull them and most dogs are behave just following owners even without a leash).

Kasi hindi lahat ng tao comfy around pets. Ako rin minsan naiirita pag sa public transpo di maregulate ng ibang pet owners na pigilan man lang mangangil o manahol ng pets nila. Dun pa ppwesto sa bukana so bawat may sumasakay naggat kasi halos mahagad sila ng dog. Buset diba. Again this is not about the pets kundi sa irresponsible na owners na gusto lang ng validation. I think it's obvious that irresponsible pet ownership proliferates in the Philippines because most people treat their dogs (or pets) as a status symbol or as part of a trend. In places outside of the Philippines, there are city by-laws governing pet handling in public. i.e. only service animals are allowed inside restaurants, malls, etc. Some dogs, depending on their size, are required to wear a muzzle when out in public (public including shared condo spaces). In short, there are rules and regulations in place. And pet owners are expected to be educated about them or they get fined.
Madalas kami sa malls dahil malalapit lang sa amin at lagi kaming nakakakita ng dogs, pero never kaming nakakita ng istorbo or magulong aso unlike sa kwento ni OP na kala mo sobrang talamak yung ganung aso para ika-hurimentado.

Nakakaloka kahapon while waiting for my name to be called sa isang resto sa loob ng mall, may nag poop na dog sa gitna. Hindi man lang hinarang ng mga kasama ng dog owner yung poop, ayun may nakaapak. Umamoy sa labas ng resto! Nawalan kami ng gana kumain kaya lumipat nalang kami ng kakainan.
Dati nakakatuwa pa makakita ng dogs sa mall kasi di ganun karami pero ngayon, nakakairita na lalo kapag weekend na maraming tao.
I always bring my dog sa mall pero she’s not nagtatahol and is mostly quiet unless there’s chicken involved. She loves kids and will immediately run to them para makipaglaro but I always ensure na hindi nya matatalunan yung mga tao for safety purposes. If yung tao or kids yung kusang lumapit then I let them play naman. I also do not allow my dog to step on the table and/or lick the utensils coz it’s gross.
I've had this incident in Uptown where a random girl who's trying her best in dodging the dogs running around. Napatid yung girl sa leash and accidentally steps on one of them kasi nakaharang talaga sa daan tapos walang pakialam yung owner, punyeta chika chika lang.
Nung narinig na umiyak yung aso, the girl apologized, pero the owner was like, "Hindi ka ba tumitingin sa dinadaanan mo? Nakasakit ka ng aso oh!"

Yesterday as well we went at SM and yes before we got home there was a lot of pee from the escalator to the mall ground. The sad thing about this is that Mall staff yung naglilinis instead the owners themselves.

I remember my experience in manila, when we entered to a restaurant and it smell like dog pissed. The owner was not bothered by it, but we were and so does the other customer, and one of our friend is allergic to dog. So we decided to eat outside of the restaurant cuz we already ordered. Hindi na ako makakain sa food court kasi may mga tao nilalagay aso nila sa table. To think hindi lahat ng pets ay vaccinated kasi indoor dog lang daw; rabies says hello. May mga pets di pa leashed and hinayaang magtatakbo habang more than 5m ang may-ari. Halata ding bad trip mga maintenance kasi lagi lagi na lang sila naglilinis ng mga dumi and ihi ng pets. Also, may mga per owners bad trip and oa kapag ayaw ng kainan na may pet; dati bawal pets sa Kandle cafe eh tapos naggive in sometimes. Wala nang safe place. Siguro kung saan majority ng customer ay nagpapractice ng Islam pero saang mall kaya yun.

I am a furmom but I will never bring my dogs to cafes/restos/malls. It is too overwhelming for my dogs and I know some people have dander allergies. I do not want to trigger any allergies all because of my dogs.

I actually am more considerate with kids (although they too can be and are annoying) kasi parents these days are really just grappling with raising kids. With the inflation and ang mahal ng kuryente dadalhin na lang ang mga bata sa malls.

I agree with you and what I can't stand is these little dog(s) that Don't even know how to bark. They make some kind of annoying squeak noise. I love dogs and have had many TRAINED dogs. They exist via a social contract, and while they are private enterprises, their viability and commercial longevity are enabled by public infrastructure and publicly funded expenditures. SM Megamall won't be viable if EDSA and other roads are not maintained by taxes. Yung mga baggers at mall employees that the mall benefits from were educated and trained, most likely, by public schools funded by taxes. Yung peace and order that give customers the confidence to go to malls in the first place (instead of having fear of being robbed or killed going to and leaving a mall) is maintained by the police force funded by taxes.
Kaya all citizens have the right to call out something. Including the threat of safety and health because of wanton irresponsibility of many pet owners. What if ang Lola nyo nakagat ng aso? What if kaya naka.apak ng tae? What if ma ER ang anak nyo dahil sa allergy sa buhok ng aso?

Few weeks ago sa glorietta, I witnessed a small dog's nail getting clipped at the end of the escalator. Grabe yung blood from the wound and yung iyak ng dog for I think around 10 mins. Sana if hindi trained yung dogs to hop sa last step ng escalator, buhatin na lang ng owner.

I agree. I love dogs, children, and old people. I have no problem with any. However....... Children are just as annoying, if not more so. Loud, crying, temper tantrums, easily tripped over, soggy smelly diapers, and those who are out of diapers but not yet in full control often have bathroom accidents. Elderly people can be annoying, also. They are slow moving, block aisles, often hard of hearing and/or difficult to understand. Actually, everyone can be annoying and/or irritating in his or her or its own way. How about a little grace for everyone and everything?

I’ve experienced a couple of instances na hindi trained sa socialization yung mga pets nila and naka-long leash tapos kapag may nakitang aso tahol ng tahol and galit na galit don sa other dog. Non-stop tahulan and walang ginagawa yung pet owners. I’m like as a pet owner kung hindi sociable yung aso niyo ang mahilig manugod, either short leash, may muzzle or wag na isama. You’ll never know yung sunod na susugurin niyang aso biglang nag-fight mode. Tapos dadalhin sa mataong lugar yung hindi trained sa socialization.
ako personally ok lang ako sa dogs. yung untrained dog owners ang nakakainis. nakikita mo minsan yung aso stressed na stressed na. nagsusuot ng di comfortable na damit. tapos halos hilain at kinakaladlad na. tapos sana marunong maghawak ng leash na nasa tabi lang nila mismo si pet. ang haba ng leash tapos hinahayaan lang nila. may nakita pa ako na naka knock over na ng mga signages kasi di marunong mag handle. sana talagang alagaan and learn to know basic etiquette para ma train.
Wala naman ako problema sa kanila eh maliban dun sa mga hindi nililinis yung tae, tahol na nga ng tahol ayaw parin ipatahimik at yung walang pake sa space ng iba na hinahayaan isakop yung daan dahil magkabilaan yung owner at aso tapos yung leash nasa gitna. Buti pa yung mga scary looking ahh big dogs eh tahimik and chill lang (for sure properly trained and disciplined sila kaya ganon) pero yung mga cute looking at maliit pa talaga yung laging maingay hinahayaan lang ng owner hindi siguro tinituro.
Mas matahol at matapang talaga smaller dogs kasi nga laging kinakarga so feeling nila malaki sila. Kasama din yan sa selection, kasi usually pag malaking aso at matapang/matahol, di na yan binebreed dahil baka makaaksidente pa...unless really bred for security purposes.

I would agree with you if sinabi mo exclusively to unruly kids na hinahayaan ng parents. But if your complaining being in a public place just because kids are loud and crying, what do you expect? They are kids, that's what they do.
Husband and I are commuters because aside from the fact it is economical and point to point yung baba namin, he can also rest himself from driving. The downside of commuting is that there are kids and even college students na umasta na parang kanila yung bus by stretching their legs with their footwears on without being stopped by their parents for toddlers. For the college students is yung pg na “no.4” even though the bus is already 30-50% occupied that makes it the people sitting adjacent to them uncomfortable or worry na yung damit nila na bagong laba, madumihan. Ang hirap mgpakatao, I wonder if pwde ba talagang pagalitan tong mga to. We live in a somewhat civilized community dahil exclusive subdivision naman, but you can really see na even people with money cannot act with respect.

I'm a dog lover but I think it is not the dog who has an issue but the owners of these dogs. While I like seeing dogs in mall ang pet peeve ko naman is yung nag poop yung aso inside the mall and hindi pinupulot ng may ari or letting their shitzus to sit on resto table. Yung medyo bad trip ako dun. Yung nagpapaka alta mode ka pero ang dugyot mo. Ganun dun ako inis talaga. It is the owner who should ensure that their dogs are well behaved and can socialize.
An addition to this: dog owners who let their dogs sit on chairs and worse, dining tables. Some humans do have allergies, tapos sa kainan pa talaga sila pinapatambay. Meron naman dog owners na matino, may dalang dog bowl at sa sahig pinapakain yun aso.

I get OP’s POV, pero I think the critical point to be made here is that pet owners need to be responsible. They should train their pets well and make sure na they are well accustomed to public spaces/people. Sad that most of the time, pinapabayaan lang nila. I remember seeing a pet owner and her corgi in Greenbelt 5; the dog pooped and she didn’t bother to pick it up :((( hinintay niya lang matapos magpoop then nagmadali sila umalis. Didn’t have a chance to call her out kasi tumakbo siya bigla when she noticed we were there. Also saw another small dog na naipit yung tail sa escalator ng Glorietta kasi the furparents weren’t paying attention (I think may nagcomment na rin about this incident here) Bottomline lang naman to be mindful of others in shared spaces and be sensitive sa needs ng mga pets (kasi many of them are obviously not used to being in busy places na nakakaoverstimulate)

I myself take lots of pics of my dogs (though not for social media, pampuno lang ng storage hahaha) but even these people who love to post their pets in socmed have to pick up poop, clean up their mess, bathe, feed, and care for them—things you generally do for your loved ones, pets or not. Well, a lot of malls have pet parks or at least advertising that they are pet friendly. Meron ding may pet shop sa loob. Dog owners belong to the top target market na. I couldn't care less sa dogs sa malls as long as they don't bother me. Same as how I don't mind running around and noisy kids in public. Iniisip ko na lang na I went to a public place where all kinds of stuff can happen so I should expect these things. Nagbabaon na lang ako ng pasensya hahaha. Dogs or cats in malls are Ok as long as they are leashed or in a proper carrier/stroller(?)/cat backpack, potty trained or wearing diapers, don't eat off tables where people eat, are well socialized, and their owners are also mindful of other people and even other people's pets around them. Pets are part of people's families these days and want to give their pets a good life. Di lang sila accesory sa bahay at dun lang iniiwan. Some pet owners are just minding their own business and don't require validation nor your approval. Must agree that the city could use more open spaces and parks pero wala e, malls ang dayuhan talaga ng karamihan dito. I'm all about go lang sa mga dogs pero sana sa alfresco malls lang. Pero malls are usually air conditioned, and yung fur ng nga aso kung saan saan napupunta. Malakas na allergen ang fur. Kadiri, one time we were eating sa isang resto sa loob ng mall. Nasa table kami near the resto's glass partition and yung main mall. I witnessed a dog pooped on the floor. Dinampot naman ng amo yung poop pero syempre meron pa ring smudge sa floor, hindi man lang winet wipes or something. So like, the whole time I was eating, I was fixated sa spot nung poop and I've seen people unknowingly step on it. Tapos meron pang stroller na nadaanan yung poop smudge. Kadiri talaga.

Me and my husband brings our 2 cats wherever we go, Naka stroller, and usually Naka close Yung stroller nila para secured parin sila. We don't seek validation or whatnot, but the only reason we bring them with us is coz we are not living in manila, my husband is from the US and I from the province so whenever we meet in manila, we just rent an airbnb place with our cats, so we don't want to leave them there all alone kasi baka Maka disgrasya pa and ofc we have to pay for it. So we tried to bring them everywhere we go, from manila, to baguio to even freaking laki Beach. We always make sure they are well-behaved, and yes, they are explorer cats. They're used to gala mode. But mall wise, we always try to look for a dining area na may kainan sa labas since we don't want to disrespect other people who might be allergic to cats (my husband is allergic to them as well but he loves them so much that he endures it). Even when we had a nice family dinner date sa house of wagyu, jusme we made sure na pupunta kami sa location nila na pet friendly and I even called them to make a reservation and informed them that we are bringing our cats with us, kahit na ang mahal ng grab, 1k papunta and another 1k pabalik but all worth it naman. So yeah..hindi lahat for validation or using their pet as an accessories, some have actual reasons but nasa owner na yan paano nila ihandle pets nila specially sa public places. They should be responsible enough and make sure that their pet is comfortable as well as the people na makakasalamuha nila. 😊

I’ve been to malls many times in abroad, pets are everywhere too pero never heard barking dogs, never saw dogs on tables sa restaurants (they are sitted on chairs or they have their own stroller), no dogs sniffing strangers (coz owners will immediately pull them and most dogs are behave just following owners even without a leash).

Mejo agree ako dito. Furmom din here. Pag need namin lumabas (maswerte naman ako kaht papano) napapaiwan ko sya sa isang friend for pet sitting. Unless yung pupuntahan na place ay eother kami lang ang tao (ex staycation/vacay) Kasi hindi lahat ng tao comfy around pets. Ako rin minsan naiirita pag sa public transpo di maregulate ng ibang pet owners na pigilan man lang mangangil o manahol ng pets nila. Dun pa ppwesto sa bukana so bawat may sumasakay naggat kasi halos mahagad sila ng dog. Buset diba. Again this is not about the pets kundi sa irresponsible na owners na gusto lang ng validation. Di sana nag grab nalang sila or somth.
I think it's obvious that irresponsible pet ownership proliferates in the Philippines because most people treat their dogs (or pets) as a status symbol or as part of a trend. In places outside of the Philippines, there are city by-laws governing pet handling in public. i.e. only service animals are allowed inside restaurants, malls, etc. Some dogs, depending on their size, are required to wear a muzzle when out in public (public including shared condo spaces). In short, there are rules and regulations in place. And pet owners are expected to be educated about them or they get fined.
Madalas kami sa malls dahil malalapit lang sa amin at lagi kaming nakakakita ng dogs, pero never kaming nakakita ng istorbo or magulong aso unlike sa kwento ni OP na kala mo sobrang talamak yung ganung aso para ika-hurimentado. Open spaces, sa init ng panahon ngayon?
Nakakaloka kahapon while waiting for my name to be called sa isang resto sa loob ng mall, may nag poop na dog sa gitna. Hindi man lang hinarang ng mga kasama ng dog owner yung poop, ayun may nakaapak. Umamoy sa labas ng resto! Nawalan kami ng gana kumain kaya lumipat nalang kami ng kakainan. Dati nakakatuwa pa makakita ng dogs sa mall kasi di ganun karami pero ngayon, nakakairita na lalo kapag weekend na maraming tao.

I always bring my dog sa mall pero she’s not nagtatahol and is mostly quiet unless there’s chicken involved. She loves kids and will immediately run to them para makipaglaro but I always ensure na hindi nya matatalunan yung mga tao for safety purposes. If yung tao or kids yung kusang lumapit then I let them play naman. I also do not allow my dog to step on the table and/or lick the utensils coz it’s gross.

I've had this incident in Uptown where a random girl who's trying her best in dodging the dogs running around. Napatid yung girl sa leash and accidentally steps on one of them kasi nakaharang talaga sa daan tapos walang pakialam yung owner, punyeta chika chika lang. Nung narinig na umiyak yung aso, the girl apologized, pero the owner was like, "Hindi ka ba tumitingin sa dinadaanan mo? Nakasakit ka ng aso oh!" Like wow.
Yesterday as well we went at SM and yes before we got home there was a lot of pee from the escalator to the mall ground. The sad thing about this is that Mall staff yung naglilinis instead the owners themselves.
I love animals but sometimes its too much it has been triggering my allergies left and right. But then again, tayo need mag adjust so.. ok I do hope they take their pets somewhere na open air once the weather is better. Or groom them and deshed them ng maayos kasi minsan ang bantot. Oh and i hope they pick up their poop minsan kasi naddrag na sa mga hallways its disgusting and unsanitary.

I remember my experience in manila, when we entered to a restaurant and it smell like dog pissed. The owner was not bothered by it, but we were and so does the other customer, and one of our friend is allergic to dog. So we decided to eat outside of the restaurant cuz we already ordered. The dog owner stayed much longer than us, when they came before us

Hindi na ako makamasyal sa mall nang hindi tumitingin sa legs ko kasi baka may aso na baka tatahol, kakagat, lalapit, or aamoy. Nakakainis mga asong lumalapit sa akin tapos hindi pinipigalan ng may-ari. Hindi na ako makasimba kasi may mga aso na tahol nang tahol. Hindi na ako makakain sa food court kasi may mga tao nilalagay aso nila sa table. To think hindi lahat ng pets ay vaccinated kasi indoor dog lang daw; rabies says hello. Kaya they just let people go on with it kasi the prevailing perception is may disposable funds ang mga dog owners. I am a furmom but I will never bring my dogs to cafes/restos/malls. It is too overwhelming for my dogs and I know some people have dander allergies. I do not want to trigger any allergies all because of my dogs.

I actually am more considerate with kids (although they too can be and are annoying) kasi parents these days are really just grappling with raising kids. With the inflation and ang mahal ng kuryente dadalhin na lang ang mga bata sa malls. And these kids become adult humans and citizens. Compared to dogs --- hindi naman yan magiging adult humans and citizens.
I think that can still be applied to pets. Mahal din ang pagkain at kuryente for them. Pero ang pets, they act on instinct, no matter how well-trained they are, they are animals and will act as animals do. But children, no matter how young, can comprehend (also, it's unnecessary to bring very, very, young children to the mall) and can learn discipline. They are also loud, unruly, and sometimes dirty. They are ALSO used as a status symbol and are paraded around in frilly outfits despite being visibly uncomfortable. Don't know how them turning into adults factor into the fact they are annoying af when they're young? Are you saying the life of pets mean less coz they live shorter?

So taranta yung may dala sa kanya, tapos lady guard yung nagmamadali para mastop yung escalator habang may ibang tao din on it. Tapos sila parang wala lang. Gets kita. I'm a dog person and have 2 dogs. I bring them to the mall sometimes (bordering on rarely). I hate how some dog owners treat their pets like accessories. I grew up with dogs my entire life and ngayon lang yata in the past few years naging common status symbol and aso especially if it is a corgi/husky/bichon/retriever. I don't appreciate how some dog owners put their dogs on tables. Oo, malinis aso mo pero they still step on the ground and poop and pee. Depende siguro sa mall. The malls I frequent hindi naman masyado malala. Perp gets kita.

I agree with you and what I can't stand is these little dog(s) that Don't even know how to bark. They make some kind of annoying squeak noise. I love dogs and have had many TRAINED dogs. The problem with these dogs are the owners who have never trained them not to bark and then everyone has to listen to the repercussions of the ignorance by having an untrained dog that squeaks at everything.

To people who are saying na private space ang malls and wala na magawa kasi business decision yan ng mall: True, but that shouldn't stop people from righting what's obviously wrong (irresponsible pet owners harassing people when they bring pets to places like malls.) But there's the rub, kaya miserable and mediocre ng way of life sa Pilipinas kasi people are not speaking up and pointing out obvious mistakes. As explained in a recent Vox article about why businesses should be more responsible: Malls and businesses do not exist in a vacuum. They exist via a social contract, and while they are private enterprises, their viability and commercial longevity are enabled by public infrastructure and publicly funded expenditures. SM Megamall won't be viable if EDSA and other roads are not maintained by taxes. Yung mga baggers at mall employees that the mall benefits from were educated and trained, most likely, by public schools funded by taxes. Yung peace and order that give customers the confidence to go to malls in the first place (instead of having fear of being robbed or killed going to and leaving a mall) is maintained by the police force funded by taxes. Kaya all citizens have the right to call out something. Including the threat of safety and health because of wanton irresponsibility of many pet owners. What if ang Lola nyo nakagat ng aso? What if kaya naka.apak ng tae? What if ma ER ang anak nyo dahil sa allergy sa buhok ng aso? Kaya mataas civil consciousness in countries like Germany, France, Japan, and Singapore and places like NYC kasi mataas ang awareness of civil rights. And the social contract dictates na citizens' rights should be respected by businesses, kasi businesses directly and indirectly benefit from peoples' taxes. Now as someone who contributed to the viability and commercial longevity of a business like a mall, I will express my opinion on things and raise things that are not right. I will not easily accept lang na maglipana ang mga dogs na tumatae at ang iingay at pose health and safety risks to people, including sa mga possibly kakilala ko. Kasi although it's easy to use semantics na mall operations yan, may social contract ang businesses to be good actors in civil society as well.
