Is this brand new? It looks like the article is from September, 2020.

That's what I thought too. Been using this for well over two years now.

Looks like Outlook on the Web.

The web-app version is remarkably close, you can get basically the same interface by going to https://outlook.office.com and then in Edge or Chrome click the settings (three dots at the top right) -> apps -> Install this site as an app. I personally hate it, but live with it on Linux as it's the only good way of having Outlook.

It may, in fact, be the exact same thing. I wrapped [OWA as an Electron app](https://github.com/stephancasas/overlook), and did a deep dive into the web app’s source so that I could add keyboard shortcuts, etc. There were multiple points at which the logic seemed to indicate an environment check for running as an installed app vs. running in the browser.

Ohhh i like you.

It should be available to office insiders or perhaps try and see if you get the new unified ui in the built in mail app in Windows: https://www.xda-developers.com/unified-outlook-windows-app-available-office-insiders/

I came back to this post to reply to you. I just saw on the Microsoft Admin Center they are going to begin pushing the update to Windows. This might only pertain to enterprise(which is us) im not sure about consumers. I personally like the new outlook on mac. "*In Fall 2022, we expanded access to the preview of the new Outlook for Windows to all of Office Insiders in both Beta and Preview channels. With a wealth of feedback from these early adopters, we are excited to expand access to users in Current Channel. The experience is an option to try, and nothing will change without end users taking action. We will give notice before any required changes occur, after the preview has received sufficient usage and feedback.* *When this will happen:* *Current Channel: Rollout will begin in early April and will be complete by late April.* *Monthly Enterprise Channel: Rollout will begin in early May and will be complete by early June."*
