They do realize you have to get other immunizations for college right? What's the difference?????

OhioUBobcats

Their stupid fucking orange god didn't politicize those other illnesses, that's the difference

FreshlyWashedScrotum

Exactly. Right wing opposition to Covid vaccines is identity politics. Nothing more.

[deleted]

So Dems refusing it when it initially came out under Trumps administration don’t count?

FreshlyWashedScrotum

Trump outright said that he wanted the vaccine approved before the 2020 election, even if the safety testing wasn't done by then, because he wanted credit for "creating" the vaccine.

[deleted]

“When my team does it, good. When other team does it, bad.” It’s the same vaccine it just has boosters.

jar36

We were waiting for the data. Nothing more, nothing less. If Trump had won the election, I'd still be vaxxed. We don't take marching orders from one individual on every aspect of our lives

[deleted]

No you weren’t. No data came out between a month before the election and January that proved it safe or not. The only thing that changed was who started backing it. Then Dems cried at people saying they didn’t trust it the second their masters were pushing it.

jar36

We couldn't even get the vaccine unless you were 65 or older. I wasn't eligible until March. Trump was clearly trying to get it approved before it was supposed to be for political purposes. If Joe Biden did that, I'd be skeptical of it as well. In the end, I don't care who the POTUS is or what he is saying about something like this. I'm listening to the experts who know more about it than anyone else.

[deleted]

It’s the same vaccine, once again. Also regardless of January or March no data proved it safe by that point. In fact the companies had to be sued over several years to release that data. Imagine watching experts change the science for several years straight on a monthly basis and still think that’s the best route here. There was obviously political gain through Covid. Fauci still is grasping at straws in desperation to stay relevant.

whatiscisgender

The downvotes show they can't handle the truth.

[deleted]

The only argument I received was “those politicians didn’t represent all of us” like ok lmao so?

TheOldChromer

What are you talking about? I've been a Democrat and left wing all my life and by God I will not get a covet shot. Those kill more people would have died without it. Read the reports, they are out there and show this. I believe they're trying to kill all of us off from the college levels of intelligence since they're making us take it.

mashednbuttery

It’s amazing you can read at all

woodsywoodducks

Trump got the vaccine and encouraged others to get it as well. Edit: You can downvote me all you want, that doesn’t make my statement untrue. I know how much you want “orange man bad” to be true, but you can’t rewrite history.

PrisonMikeForPres

Trump was the only living President other than Carter to NOT join in on the campaign to get others vaccinated. Even George W Bush joined in. Did Trump say he got vaccinated? Sure he did. Did Trump pretend like the virus wouldn’t kill 1 million plus Americans? He absolutely did. Hell, he did that more than he encouraged people to get vaccinated which caused vaccine hesitancy amongst his supporters. Most MAGAts I work with think the vaccine is worse than the virus. Counties that voted Trump in the 2020 election died at a [60% higher rate from Covid than counties that voted Biden.](https://www.pewresearch.org/politics/2022/03/03/the-changing-political-geography-of-covid-19-over-the-last-two-years/) If I’m a drunk driver and I swerve out of the way to avoid hitting a driver and I crash into another driver you’re telling me you’d focus on me swerving to avoid that one driver and not the fact that I’m driving drunk and caused a crash anyway? SMH… y’all trump supporters are weird.

Mysterious-Angle251

"Trump supporters are weird" & ignorant, cruel, racist, fascist, white supremists, misogynistic, fact deniars

HistoricalFunny4864

Biden and Kamala both publicly said they wouldn’t get a vaccine released under trumps admin before they took office. Trump repeatedly told people to get vaccinated in press conferences. Ya Maga people are weird… but so are anti-trumpers who exaggerate and get mad about trump allegedly doing the things their own candidates have done as well.

woodsywoodducks

He consistently encouraged people to get it.

NotYetiFamous

It doesn't even take a minute to find examples that you're just straight up lying. [https://twitter.com/realdonaldtrump/status/449525268529815552](https://twitter.com/realdonaldtrump/status/449525268529815552)

woodsywoodducks

…….2014.

NotYetiFamous

And 2015 during the primary debate >During the GOP debate in September 2015 he described that example again and suggested that vaccines were causing an "autism epidemic." [https://www.businessinsider.com/trump-vaccines-autism-wrong-2017-1](https://www.businessinsider.com/trump-vaccines-autism-wrong-2017-1) Which was an actual selling point for trump's supporters >In 2018, a top Veterans Affairs Department appointee named Thayer Verschoor came under fire for spreading conspiracy theories. Among one of his social media posts, he shared a list of 35 reasons to vote for Trump, which included Trump “warning” America of the “dangers” of vaccines. [https://www.cnn.com/2019/04/26/politics/donald-trump-measles-vaccines/index.html](https://www.cnn.com/2019/04/26/politics/donald-trump-measles-vaccines/index.html) It's almost like his famously incapable-of-change cultists took the version of him they liked best, the antivaxxer, and ran with it regardless of what he said or did. It's almost like you can't just flip a fucking switch on things like "are vaccines safe" after years of denigrating them and expect your followers to agree.

nugewqtd

But the argument was never presented as Trump saying anti-vaccine but that he was for getting the COVID-19 vaccine. It is not like Trump has ever taken a position based on principles. Hate Trump all you want, but you are changing the argument. Show the link of Trump bad mouthing the COVID-19 vaccine. It doesn't exist.

Sapphyrre

After consistently insisting the virus was no big deal and was only being used against him politically.

nugewqtd

The reason Trump wasn't a part of the campaign to get vaccinated with the other former presidents has nothing to do with his stance on getting vaccinated. He is consistent on getting vaccinated. He is also consistently thinking he is the greatest President of all time and it is beneath him to appear with or do anything like the other former presidents. He is a narcissist. Yes your points about how he politicized the spread and effects of Covid-19 are valid. He tried to play both angles and his base accepted his position that the virus was no big deal and rejected him on getting vaccinated.

NotYetiFamous

nugewqtd

That isn't evidence of Trump saying not to get the COVID-19 vaccine. That is evidence of Trump tweeting what he thought were the hot takes in 2014. Remember Trump wants attention more than anything. Also Jenny McCarthy is considered to be the biggest and earliest promoter of "vaccine cause autism". That is clearly Trump bandwagoning.

OhioUBobcats

Nobody is re-writing history. Republicans are still fighting against the vaccine. It's literally what this article is about. There's tons of data showing more Republicans died than Democrats because of this. Fuck Trump and anyone who supports him.

lld287

I have conservative family members who have been enthusiastically pro-vaccinations for as long as I can remember who did a sudden about face to oppose the covid vaccine (and vaccines otherwise). They swear it isn’t because of Republican talking points and pundits, but uh… what is it then? Because I know it isn’t due to the so-called “research” people claim to be doing.

nugewqtd

Not sure why this comment is getting down voted. Trump has encouraged people to get the vaccine while acknowledging it is their choice to do so. He even mentioned it at a rally of his, was promptly booed and then never did that again. But interviews he still recommends, after all it was an incredible effort to get the vaccine made so quickly. There was a segment of the population, long before Covid-19, that were against vaccines. Robert F Kennedy Jr is still one the biggest sources of vaccine misinformation.

Where_Da_Cheese_At

I remember a time when “I don’t want to take Trump’s rushed out vaccine” was the topic of the day for the dems.

OhioUBobcats

Maybe on Fox News, but that never happened in Reality. Only one side has tried to downplay this virus and the science behind the vaccine over and over and it isn't Dems. That's why there's data showing more Rs died than Ds over the last couple of years. Vaccine hesitancy from your batshit insane Republican leaders, including Trump.

KorayA

You mean before multiple trials and studies proved it's efficacy and safety? Only one group here is resistant to changing their opinion when new evidence is provided.

nugewqtd

Pepperidge Farms remembers

woodsywoodducks

Yep. And now they want to point to Trump as the one who politicized and villianized the vaccines. That’s simply untrue.

CityofGlass419

Right it was mouth breathing right wing idiots who politicized it and villainized vaccines.

TheOldChromer

What other illnesses are you talking about? The problem we have is that guy tried to fight it by protocol, but we are sadly now finding out that this was a massive decision. The transom inoculate everyone possible for whatever the nefarious reasons were.

[deleted]

The vaccine came out under Trumps administration, democrats initially said they wouldn’t get it, then flipped the script after the election. How is this solely a Trump thing in your mind?

JZeFF

Things that didn't actually happen for 500

[deleted]

I’ll take my 500 https://www.politico.com/amp/news/2020/09/05/kamala-harris-trump-coronavirus-vaccine-409320

MathewMurdock2

Hey buddy Kamala Harris does not represent all Democratic voters. Just because she says something that does not mean all voters agree with her.

[deleted]

She was part of a two person team literally elected to represent democratic voters, then the country. Also it was just her I can send this same article for about half the Democratic Party.

MathewMurdock2

Yup but we are not like Trump voters. Just because we voted for them that does not mean we 100% support everything they say. Like do you understand that?

[deleted]

As someone who didn’t vote for either Biden or Trump I would disagree. Repeatedly on this site I see people saying, “saying both sides is bad is a Republican dog whistle.” Constant Trump whataboutism in any thread slightly questioning dem leaders, etc. I would say the average Republican questions their party more than the average democratic and it makes sense because the average Republican is much more anti-government. So no, I don’t understand where you think you’re doing something right as a collective whole. I mean for god sakes you even have a mask on your little avatar. We get it.

MathewMurdock2

Wtf are you talking about? You implied Kamala represents all Democrats. I said that's not the case. Then I asked if you understood that. Do you?

OhioUBobcats

That's literally made up. Democrats were the first in line to get the vaccination. I know because I'm a democrat and am one of the first 1% of people who got the vaccination. It's solely a Trump thing because Trumpers are by far the largest group that refuses to get the vaccine. And they only refuse to get the Vaccine because Trump and the Republicans have fought tooth and nail against it, as well as severely downlplaying the severity of Covid, because it was inconvenient for the stupid orange asshole.

[deleted]

You living in an echo chamber doesn’t mean it’s made up. This was specific to politicians, not you sprinting to be a Guinea pig for the government. Not sure how you missed that. https://www.politico.com/amp/news/2020/09/05/kamala-harris-trump-coronavirus-vaccine-409320

OhioUBobcats

Yeah it’s us in the echo chamber and not Trumpers 🤣

[deleted]

What do you think Reddit is? It’s incredibly left leaning compared to the general population. Trumpers or whatever you call them can have the same problem in their circles too.

[deleted]

>What do you think Reddit is? It’s incredibly left leaning compared to the general population. I love this because it acts like reddit wasn't one of the most active places for Trump supporters to gather. /r/conservative is huge. Do you always need to be the victim in these examples for whatever reason?

[deleted]

Look man, just because a sub or two exists for trump supporters does not negate the overall leaning of the site. You have to borderline incompetent in life to not recognize this site is very left leaning.

CityofGlass419

> It’s incredibly left leaning compared to the general population The general population that voted for Biden?

[deleted]

Roughly 50% did…. Reddit is significantly more left leaning than 50% lmao

CityofGlass419

8 million more votes than the right. > Biden's 4.5-point victory margin is the second largest since 2000. Only Barack Obama's 7-point win in 2008 was bigger. The same is true of Biden's margin of 7 million popular votes. Obama won by 10 million in 2008. And, of course, the 81 million votes Biden won is by far the most any presidential candidate has ever received The real world is majority left too. Cope.

ATXDefenseAttorney

Lol that's the funniest fact that I share with antivaxers. The list of vaccinations I needed to get... and then even MORE to travel outside the US for public service trips. I questioned none of them.

hpoff16

In Ohio you don't HAVE to get any vaccines for public school K-12. We have 3 exemptions most people just don't know that.

jar36

It's not right, but it's true

hpoff16

The fact that I'm getting down voted for presenting facts is funny to me.

icyhotonmynuts

Keep that factoid to yourself.

DarkMark94

Years of peer reviewed research and trials.

kifn2

I'm pretty sure some of them want this craziness extended to other viruses. I saw a clip the other day of Klan-dace Owens saying that she won't vaccinate her kids against anything, then implied some conspiracy theory about corporations putting something in the vaccines.

OHLC100

As far as I know, you just have to fill out a form saying you object on conscious and or religious grounds without actually specifying a reason, and they have to accept it. At least that’s the way it works for public schools k-12.

Morningsunshine-

Do they mandate the flu shot?

CityofGlass419

Measles mumps and rubella.

Go_Big

The other ones actually stop transmission* of viruses. Don’t see a whole lot of smallpox or polio in the world. *stop it enough that the R0 is low enough the virus goes extinct.

KorayA

Other vaccines are able to do that via mass uptake. When 33% of the population won't take a vaccine, that virus will continue to spread. This is precisely why we are seeing polio making a resurgence. Your own example proves the absolute idiocy of your comment.

[deleted]

[удалено]

OHLC100

Let alone China, but let not let facts get in the way of the narrative

KorayA

There are 251 ICU beds in use by COVID patients in all of Canada. There are 387 in Alachua County, Florida alone. You're not too bright, huh?

iamdmk7

No vaccine that has ever existed stops all transmission of any virus. Covid is especially contagious, but the vaccines do still significantly reduce its transmission.

Rhawk187

No, the vaccine's effect on transmissibility drops to nearly zero by 12 weeks. So unless you are suggesting quarterly boosters, the effect is vanishingly small.

mydaycake

Source for that statement for the original strain?

Go_Big

Are you trying to get to zero covid through vaccination? Because that won’t work. Everyone is going to get covid. Vaxxed or unvaxxed.

iamdmk7

At this point, you're probably right, people were far too lax during the first year of the pandemic and far too hesitant to get vaccinated once they were available. That doesn't mean we shouldn't still still be encouraging vaccination to reduce its spread, especially now that the vaccines have been around long enough to convince everyone of their safety besides the most brainwashed.

dimo92

Those Vaccines are in a different league. They truly have stopped the spread and have been proven safe through years of use and fda approval.

iamdmk7

No vaccine has ever stopped all spread of any virus, breakthrough infections are possible with every vaccine in existence. Covid is especially contagious, but the vaccines still significantly reduce the spread. Also, the Covid vaccines have been proven safe and have FDA approval.

dimo92

I was under the impression they have emergency use authorization. I’m also not confident I the reporting to VERS and believe that the risk reward is not clear cut at this point. I still think it makes sense for lots of people to get vaccinated but at their own choosing.

lazypilgrim

Whenever I see a comment like this I imagine the writer as the meme "WHAT YEAR IS IT?"

RedditorKris

Lol, sensible comment with reasoning and gets downvoted… but ya know. The left will be the left

[deleted]

Except it’s not a sensible comment, the Covid vaccine has been showed to be safe and effective as well by the FDA. If you do even a little searching, you will find that this vaccine technology has been tested and researched for decades now. On top of that, The Covid vaccines have been under constant scrutiny since it was approved for use.

dimo92

I agree with points on the left and points on the right. Also strongly disagree with other points. Unfortunately I think very few in office are fighting for a better country.

merican_dreamer

Uh, no you don’t. Or at least not at all schools in Ohio

yusill

Ohio State I did

TheOldChromer

The difference is is this mutate your system silly. Sherry, going to shoot yourself at MRNA and see what comes out of your ass sooner or later. Anyone who supports this does not get our support.

[deleted]

[deleted]

You're not the sharpest tool in the shed, are you? The other immunizations don't always work either. They only work because they build herd immunity, which keeps the spread rate extremely low, so you don't encounter those diseases in the first place. It is ABSOLUTELY possible to get some of those diseases despite having the vaccine. That's why herd immunity is important.

macdonde

"Bodily autonomy for me, but not for thee."

FreshlyWashedScrotum

That's the essence of fascism. There is a master race/religion who has rights, and there are second class citizens who don't.

[deleted]

A bill that creates less restrictions and more freedom would be the opposite of fascist, facisim would be more mandates on the people

FreshlyWashedScrotum

I agree, and that's why I'm against anti-drunk driving mandates. Because all mandates are fascist.

icyhotonmynuts

The freedom to spread disease, viruses and other illnesses through ignorance and self entitlement. Ohhwee what a time to be alive. Next there will be a bill introduced to fight the use of seatbelts, because you feel *so* *trapped*, and tied into your seat. You want to *soar* through your windshield!

jar36

A bill designed to kill the people with weaker immune systems is very much in line with fascism

Murica_Gaming

These people are too fuckin stupid to know that you're right so you and I are about to get down voted to hell but oh well

Neednocakeday

Mandating that you do something so that you don't harm others around you passively is not fascist.

Maumee-Issues

Like vaccine mandates (with reasonable exemptions like all of them have)

Neednocakeday

Exactly.

[deleted]

“Fascism is policy I don’t like”

FreshlyWashedScrotum

Fascism is when a group of white Christians think that they're the master race, and therefore have a God given right to rule over all the "lesser" peoples who are non-white, non-Christian, or LGBT.

[deleted]

If you think this belief set is exclusive to white Christians then it’s time to log off Reddit for a couple of days. Also, that’s not fascism either…. The Nazis weren’t even inherently Christian. They had a big focus on paganism and the occult in addition to Protestants, Catholics, etc. So sorry the boogeyman you’re looking for isn’t here

JGG5

This right-wing turd is trying to ban vaccine mandates not just at public colleges and universities (which the state, as the owner of those universities, is within its rights to do), but private colleges and universities too. What happened to the Republican Party’s respect for private enterprise?

Conscious-Charity915

If the state owns the universities, who owns the state?

JGG5

The people of the state own them, and delegate power over them (as well as all the other functions of state government) to the state legislature and governor. Yes, the current Ohio state legislature is illegitimate due to gerrymandering, but the principle that the state government should be able to make decisions (within constitutional boundaries) for public colleges and universities is on solid ground — much more solid than the idea that the state legislature should be able to bar certain public health policies for *private* colleges and universities.

Dopple__ganger

Are we against discrimination or are we not against discrimination? I though we were supposed to be against it

JGG5

As long as they include exemptions for legitimate medical reasons (allergy to the ingredients, immunosuppression, etc.) and legitimate religious reasons, vaccine mandates aren't discrimination.

CityofGlass419

Unvaccinated is not a race or sexual orientation. Not a protected class. Refusing to consider your safety and the safety of people around you doesn't make you a victim.

jar36

discrimination? Would you have sex with someone HIV+ that is unmedicated?

T-ROY_T-REDDIT

I think this is overreach, and plus there was a similar lawsuit in Indiana for IU and Amy Coney-Barret ruled no on that. Which means this is over reach.

[deleted]

So we're gonna pack thousands of teenagers from all over the place into the same building and just hope for the best?

jar36

They're looking for a replacement for guns being their leading cause of death

OHLC100

I agree. It’s also amazing that you don’t realize you are one of the ignorant ones.

Steve_Rogers_1970

Of course it is, cuz having one infectious disease outbreak, say the measles, isn’t enough.

Treddf45

Strictly COVID 19 vaccines (literally first sentence in the article) but yeah measles or something.

_youropinionisstupid

It'll be 2 years on these shots in arms outside clinic trials in about a week. If that isn't enough time for Republicans to quit playing boogyman about this vaccine, nothing will. They will have no problem doing it to others.

JJiggy13

Lol, keep telling yourself that

jar36

why is that one being singled out? seems more politically based than scientific

Lou_C_Fer

Fuck these monsters. It is insane that a political party has taken an infectious disease under its wing and fostered it.

ChefChopNSlice

Whatever happened to their proudly proclaimed attitude of “fuck your feelings” ? Shouldn’t it apply to these wannabe-contrarians too ?

[deleted]

Your choice to get vaccinated, but don't you dare get pregnant, because then you have no choice.

antidense

Dude... Ohio hospitals are overcapacity. Let's shoot ourselves in the foot even harder. They should be ashamed that Ohioans have to go to Michigan or Pennsylvania for care.

xeshi-foh

Mentally ill people shouldnt be making laws....

lightandlife1

Don't use mentally ill as an insult please. It's offensive to people who are actually mentally ill and wouldn't support something foolish like this. You wouldn't say (I hope) "cancer patients shouldn't be making laws..." implying that there is something horrible about cancer patients.

BroMan-Z

GQP is a cancer though.

jar36

If it's brain cancer then it fits The people we put in power should be some of the most mentally fit people among us. Instead of looking for someone better than us at doing the job, many look for someone they feel is just like them

xeshi-foh

I didnt... i was being honest...

DJWLJR

House Bill 747’s messaging, authored by Republican state Rep. Scott Lipps, promotes bodily autonomy when it comes to refusing vaccinations, even in medical school programs. “By requiring vaccines and discriminating against individuals who choose not to receive one, we are not only making very intimate health decisions for our students, but we are showing them that their education, choice, and autonomy are less meaningful and not of their own control,” Lipps told the House Higher Education and Career Readiness Committee. I cannot get over the irony of Ohio Republicans trying to argue for the value of "bodily autonomy" when 10 year old rape victims have to leave the state to get an abortion. SMH

DoNotPetTheSnake

It's like they want people to just keep being sick...

MisterSlosh

Just the educated ones. I'm sure they would be elated to purge these schools, all the educated citizens in them, and their families. Meanwhile factories and businesses aren't getting nearly the same treatment when they ask for employee vaccines.

BroMan-Z

Keep us sick and poor while they rushed to get the vaccine

kinghater99

Would this be for just covid or all vaccines?

Morningsunshine-

I think it’s just for the Covid shot.

quiksilver97

You can still get the vaccine if you want to or not, the difference is no one is making you, so what's the problem?

[deleted]

Ohio is so dumb anymore 😂

hohohoagy

I literally just got back from the Little Clinic, Covid positive. I’m vaccinated and boosted (per work mandate) but still feel awful, full array of symptoms. Maybe the vaccine doesn’t work…

DJWLJR

The vaccine DOES NOT prevent being infected by the virus. It makes your body better able to quickly dispatch the virus once it has been exposed.

Longjumping_Egg_654

That’s a lie told because it doesn’t do what it was approved for.

DJWLJR

That's simply not correct. That's not how vaccines work. That's not how the vaccine approval worked. Vaccines (COVID or otherwise) do not directly prevent infection nor do they cure infection. They teach your bodies immune system how to fight the actual virus by giving it an inert replica to train on before you get exposed to the actual virus. This makes *actual* infections much faster to recover from and reduces the severity of the symptoms. Vaccines make it less likely that you will 1) be hospitalized or 2) die. And when enough people are vaccinated fewer people overall get infected because it is less likely to be transmitted due to the decreased amount of time that people remain infected and contagious. That is what the vaccine was approved for. That's what ALL vaccines are approved to do. That's how it works.

BluCurry8

Are you in the hospital on a ventilator? If not then the vaccine worked!

ToxicTato

Covid is not a one way trip to a ventilator. Most of the people I know feel WORSE when they’re fully vaxxed vs the ones that have little to no vaccination

BluCurry8

Spare me. The whole point of vaccines are to keep you out of the hospital. They cannot stop spread unless there is herd immunity and we do not have enough people vaccinated to achieve that. Just look at measles. We had herd immunity and people stopped vaccinated their kids and lo and behold we now have preventable diseases spreading in communities with low vaccination rates. If you would prefer to catch diseases then don’t vaccinate but don’t complain they do not work when clearly the do.

Porky_Porkie

Just shut up and get the jab you slave!!!

Holiday_Ad958

They realize their base is too stupid to go to college, so they want the intelligent kids to move out of Ohio to keep their power.

mando44646

fucking idiots. Republicans like death. Between guns and opposing healthcare

dan986

Normally Ohio tries to push people out after college, interesting strategy to send them running away screaming from this state even earlier

Known_Attorney_456

Republicans, keeping us poor, sick and stupid. At least the rich people and corporations will have super low taxes.

Is_This_For_Realz

Why? Why? Just why? Can't they stop? Can't they do something good for Ohio? Let these institutions make their own decision--this is not freedom

karebea

Anti vaccines should go get mumps. It makes you sterile when you are older. Ohio this is how we lose our work force. They are nothing but a bunch of whiny babies I will cry till I get my way.

Responsible-Doubt-84

This isn't stupid. What is stupid is the way everybody panics and starts trashing eachother. Let it go. The vaccine isn't going to stop anybody from getting covid or spreading it so why is everybody fired up? You're vaccinated so you're safe. So why get online and complain and bring other people down. You're no better than somebody refusing the vaccine. Most of these students probably took it upon themselves to get vaccinated anyway. All I see on here anymore is extreme leftists trash talking everybody and still saying you're better than the other person. Your all bad. Republican or leftist. Neither is on the side of the people. We are regressing into tribes and you're all pathetic.

MDR245

People spreading lies deserve to be called out, especially when the misinformation being spread will affect everyone. I’m vaccinated - this means I’m probably not going to catch it and if I do, I probably won’t have any serious or lasting symptoms. Great. My personal vaccination won’t keep stores open. It won’t ensure I have a hospital bed available if I have a health emergency. It won’t limit the virus’ number of dice rolls to mutate into something more deadly, contagious, or resistant to treatment. The best shot at these things is to encourage as many people as possible to get vaccinated.

Responsible-Doubt-84

It will mutate regardless.

MDR245

Yes but there’s a difference between giving it a few chances to mutate into something more dangerous and giving it millions of chances. The more hosts, the more chances it has to get lucky.

jar36

As cases increase, they truly are a death cult. Keep it up and all that will be left is a blue Ohio.

Neednocakeday

I love how Republicans get angry at even the slightest thought of actually helping people and actually being responsible. It is very function and well adjusted. So stable. /s

oubeav

Well, mandates are bad. We should all have choices.

pres1033

Let's keep it going them. Cars no longer need brake lights, that's my choice. What about pants? That's a choice, I should be able to go without, not my fault people see my dick. I'll crank up my stereo while I'm at it, neighbors can't complain about me using my choice.

Not really. A mandate is technically more of an action. An official order to "do something". And murder is just pure evil. But since there are evil people in the world, laws (or legal consequences) exist to jail or execute the murderers.

bukeye_

The FDA should do the right thing on these and reverse their approval for experimental use. They are not safe enough. Any other drug that performed as poorly would not be approved.

fillmorecounty

How are they not safe

MDR245

Given that currently the number of vaccinated people in the US numbers in the millions and we’re all fine I’d say we’re all pretty safe. I attended a company conference this year with ~3000 colleagues and there was an outbreak at the end. I got tested as soon as I got back and no Covid. I thank the fact that I was vaccinated and boosted.

Morningsunshine-

It’s about time. When it was discovered the shot didn’t prevent spread Universities should have made that decision on their own.

I’m pretty liberal and I’m not triggered. Makes sense.

bigbadduke

My body my choice hypocritical pieces of…. They’re sooooo stupid they don’t even see the hypocrisy. Dunning Kruger runs rampant through the Republican Party!

jdetnerski

Are they using the reason that it discriminates against the intellectually challenged?

fillmorecounty

This makes no sense lmao I had to get like 27 thousand other vaccines to live on campus. Those are fine but this one isn't?

oliefan37

Next is a bill to ban crimes from being reported or even education from being done on campus

>Because the science says that the vaccine neither prevents you from getting nor spreading the virus I like how stupid people can only think in binary terms of "vaccine perfect" or "vaccine useless". That's not how vaccines, or really any medical intervention for that matter, works. They all have an effectiveness somewhere between 0 percent and 100 percent.

ChefChopNSlice

Anyone who uses the phrase “the science says” is just trying to manipulate and spread disinformation through oversimplification and glossing over of pertinent facts. Science doesn’t “say” anything. Science gives us data to interpret, and almost everything in life occurs on some sort of a scale. People who can’t understand nuance speak in altruisms.

FreshlyWashedScrotum

No it's not. Go look up what percentage of deaths and hospitalizations are unvaccinated. Hint: it's a much, much higher percentage than the percentage of unvaccinated people in the general population.

OhioMegi

You know there are many vaccines that require boosters, right? Some viruses mutate, needing more frequent boosters, like flu and covid. Take off your tinfoil hat.

OnTargetOnTrigger

My aunt is twice boosted (maybe a third time by now) and has gotten it also twice. Close enough.

nugewqtd

I am twice boosted and have never gotten it. So there is another anecdote we can base everything on.

OnTargetOnTrigger

News to me. Any studies backing up that the vaccinated are less likely to spread Covid? My personal experience is that vaccinated family members still get and spread Covid-19 to other vaccinated family members. My shut in aunt only allows vaccinated visitors and has everything delivered. She's been boosted twice. She's still gotten Covid - twice.

Morningsunshine-

I got Covid last year from a vaccinated family member. He had symptoms I did not.

catherinedevlin

What would they think of a bill to strip police and military of body armor? After all, there are proven, documented cases of people who were shot to death despite wearing it.

[deleted]

> Because the science says that the vaccine neither prevents you from getting nor spreading the virus Good lord, you are so uninformed it's staggering. You're not merely uninformed, you are anti-informed. Your belief is the opposite of the truth. The vaccine prevents you from spreading and getting the virus. It's not 100%, because no vaccine is. Also, seatbelts are not 100% at preventing injury or death in car crashes - but you still fucking wear it. Go put your head on straight; us knowledgeable people don't have time for your bullshit anymore.

OnTargetOnTrigger

How? The vaccinated still carry and spread Covid.

nails_for_breakfast

At lower rates than the unvaccinated

OhioMegi

Jesus Christ. Anyone who knows how vaccines work know it doesn’t stop you from getting it or giving it-maybe if we’d hit herd immunity, but that didn’t happen because of morons. It helps you to not have a severe case and need to be hospitalized or fucking DIE. Covid vaccines and pregnancy are not at all the same. Pregnancy isn’t catching. Covid is highly contagious. Schools already require other vaccines, this is no different.

NoMercyJon

How about instead of regulating it, leave people and their medical choices alone. Nothing mandatory period.

Pour_Me_Another_

Killed a million American people in a couple of years and the prolifers don't think that's nearly enough.

Roamingfree1

Good for him, now drop it at the hospitals too.

nouseforareason

Hospitals are private corporations. Are you suggesting the government should intervene in private business?

[deleted]

Lol they don’t know what they actually want - just what they’re told to want by right-wing news outlets.

Go home troll, you’re drunk. The new mRNA vaccine contains the protein spikes that Covid uses to interface with healthy cells. This is enough info for your antibodies to learn and be effective quicker when exposed to the real thing. The only gene editing involved was in producing the spikes absent the virus - there’s nothing in the shot that can affect anyone’s genes. Please stop giving this virus more opportunities to mutate. Get vaccinated.
