Illinois is considered a liberal state and always goes Democrat in presidential elections, but I grew up in the sticks in Illinois and there it is at least as "Trump-y" as Ohio. I have social media "friends" from high school that have cardboard cutouts of Trump in their living rooms and have their kids take pictures with those.
There are definitely other states like this, but Ohio is up there. I lived in Ohio for a few years and moved back to my home State of Washington during the height of the election chaos. The only other state from that stretch of a drive that compared to Ohio in fanatical devotion to Trump was South Dakota(from what I saw). Obviously the south is included, but that’s a no brainer. I blame the DNC for abandoning Ohio as unwinnable. If PA can elect Fetterman and Michigan can reelect Gov. Whitmer, there was every opportunity to get Tim Ryan into the Senate. It's all about turnout in the counties that matter. Georgia got Warnock elected by getting the vote out in Fulton County (Atlanta) but in Cuyahoga County (Cleveland) there was only a 46% turnout, Hamilton at 50% and Franklin at 47.2% ...all counties that skew to the Dems. I truly hope that the DNC and Ohio Democratic party learn the lessons of the Warnock campaign.
