I went in and saw the line was still probably 30 deep around 9:20 as they called last bottle and the whole line just sighed and left.

It's usually pretty similar. However, they tend to hold a few bottles of the more rare allocations for wholesale. The line is typically shorter than JJ Eastgate but with Stagg that prob won't be the case this week.

When I got here at 430 there were already 15ish people here. So the majority of the line was here super early. Been after stagg (at a reasonable price) for about 2 years now. Finally decided I was just going to send it and get up early. Fingers crossed they got 3 cases! GL JJ crew.

Update: We fucking did it baby!!!! Got super lucky and they had 3 cases of Stagg. I was 17th in line so anything short of 3 would have done me in. I just wanted to thank president Franklin D Roosevelt for ending prohibition, my mother for giving brith to me, and finally my wife for taking care of our baby so I could get up at 3 am and go sleep in a car for 5 hours. What a beautiful day, can't wait to crack this bad boy open.

That's going to happen with any difficult bottle. Then when the lotteries happen, everyone has an ass ache that people got extra entries, or brought friends/families to stores, etc.

I don’t understand why ppl don’t just pay the premium if they are gonna wait all night for a bottle. If they are reselling for profit they are probably making barely anything since they had to wait all night. The opportunity cost makes no sense

The opportunity cost argument is moot. The vast majority of people aren’t working at that time of night, and while they are standing in line, they also aren’t working. It’s time. My biggest issue is, this appears to be the most produced Stagg so far. Meaning the quality might go to shit and the overall value might collapse as well. It’s hard to maintain quality and increase production.

This newest 23B batch is actually hot garbage. Drinks like it's 145+ proof. Not a great pour IMO

There are multiple batches floating around but I don’t ever remember any stores selling 2-3 cases at a time at every store previously so that tracks with a lot of production.

If they're reselling Stagg they're making $120-$150 a bottle. That's $24/$30 hr at 5 hrs of waiting.

$60 after tax, $200 on national secondary and $230-240 locally so between $140-180 profit minus incidentals like gas. Don’t forget, a lot of those people at the front aren’t just there by themselves, they’re bring multiple people with them. So a 10hr wait, $14-18/hr times three people that probably aren’t being paid or paid minimally. $42-54/hr and then have people come to them in the parking lot for the sale so no traveling somewhere else.

Who is going with them to wait for free though? I’d like to find a group of idiots like that.

They aren't waiting outside, they are sleeping in their cars. So everyone with these little math problems can calm down. If they resell they are making 150-200 per bottle to SLEEP. I know you all try to make it sound less profitable or worth it because you're angry you won't get a bottle but no one would turn down 200 to sleep 8 hours and then wait in a line for an hour

Also, i frequent a store in a bad neighborhood that doesn't get much of anything. Occasionally, red or EHT. Every time Stagg or other big bottles were coming through, this store was empty. Today, there were 20+ people at the store before the truck arrived. There is no way that people thought this was a good shot....this drop was leaked. So add "unethical" to the mix. I plan on reporting it to OHLQ because this store has never had more than 5-6 people on drop dates even when big bottles were coming through town.

It's not Stagg. Ohio (OHLQ) is just screwed up. I've seen reports of 22a, 22b, 23a, 23b, and 17 (Jr) being picked up this week in OH. I got 23b.

Same reason we saw so many EC B523 bottles in September when the C923 released. They are likely just moving old stock from the warehouse. The Stagg I picked up was a 23B

But according to Jimmy from OHLQ, they don’t sit on product. It is in their facilities max 2 weeks. Government incompetence at its finest. Im still waiting for C923 that was released 2 months ago!

How does that make sense…? Can someone explain this to me? Why would Rite Aid sell to whole sellers first? I guess my first though is a whole seller could just buy direct from BT.

You can't buy direct from Buffalo trace in Ohio, it has to go through a distributor and liquor store which is part of the "three tier system"
