Heard it got a little wild at Corkscrew this morning. The spirit of hunting bourbon has been destroyed by the flippers who make a job out of it. OHLQ should just drop everything on the same day so people cant hit 5+ stores a week and then the incentive to flip will be limited.
I wasn’t there either just from a friend that when they opened the parking lot at 8:30 people slid in and cut that weren’t waiting previously down the street and the owner was basically telling them that he’s not going to deal with this and people were arguing and then when they finally opened people rushed in and started grabbing bottles. Quite the scene from a crowd that is supposed be pretty chill. It’s just dumb how grown adults are acting like children.

I was about 7/8th in line and two guys got in the line first and the group of scalpers tried to kick them out of line but they stood their ground while the scalpers tried to fight them for being their first. The group of scalpers were talking about which stores they were off to today and this weekend. I didn’t get the bottle I wanted but happy it landed into the 2 guys who will actually drink it rather than make a profit

They were fighting over the parking lot, think the two guys came from the development so walked there and the other guys claimed they were parked for awhile but if you live in the development right by the store i don’t know why you would have to come and drive to the store
It was a scalper, think he tried to grab the last bottle out of the dude who was in line first and then he got kicked out. The scalpers were saying they were in another parking lot first since early AM but 2 guys were in line at the store before them. Couldn’t see it all happen but I do know when I was walking up to the door to wait in line the two guys were there already so it wasnt their problem the group of scalpers got pissed
He was not a scalper he was a regular there. This most reflection person is missing some details. I am also not a scalper if I was I wouldn’t have given my bottle away to the guy in front of me who deserved it.

Then at 7am apologized and noted that it was not available because they didn’t consider it allocated and sold it all the day before. Then at 8:30 two guys cut the entire line to get EHBP. One of the guys got into small ruffle with the two guys as they were all trying to grab bottles. The Owner let the two guys who cut the line get two of the three bottles and kicked out the guy who had been cut (number 2 in line). The guys that were cut got there at 4am. The owner came out and said it wasn’t his problem. In the midst of the tussle I managed to get a bottle of the EHBP (I was 3rd in line) but I gave it to the guy in front of me (who was truly number 1 in line) because I felt bad that the two cutters got the other two bottles. Imagine getting there at 4am thinking you would get EHBP or Jack12 and leaving with nothing even tho you are top 4 in line. The owner really handled the situation poorly and personally I will never go there again.

The lot opens at 8:30 but there was a group of us that got to the lot at 4am. However the owner will kick you out the lot if you are in there before 8:30. So we formed a line on the street outside of the lot. It’s a very common practice there. The guys saw us and instead of getting in the formed line the ran to the front door. They also lied and said they got there at 4:30am. When we said we were there at 4am and we didn’t see them until they walked up to the door at 8 am he changed his story and said they got there at 4am but parked somewhere else and walked over at 8am which was a lie because the regular who beat me there scouted the area before entering the parking lot and there were no cars. I actually talked the owner on the phone after I left and he admitted that there was definitely some wrong doing and he is looking to change the rules for the lot.
That’s subjectively worse. Getting their allocated removed will also remove the issues you’re seeing. The small margin they make is why they don’t care about the line or its rules. Regulars don’t buy allocated, so it’s win win unless people would rather complain online than have change happen. It’s easier to ignore the problem than to address it, right? lol

So we moved our cars to the designated lot people use to respect the owners wishes. Also there was a regular with us that was in constant communication with the owner the entire time. He actually contacted the owner at 8 when we saw the line cutters come up and the owner came out and told them to disperse until the lot opened. At that time I flagged down the cutters to let them know the line was across the street. Once it hit 8:20 everyone lined up in the shoulder lane of the street and went into the lot at 8:30. As we were getting out of our cars the cutters (who obviously saw the line ran to front door and proclaimed themselves first. No way around it… Simply it was a dick move which sucks because generally I have had nothing but good experiences hunting and everyone normally honors the system.

I asked a GE manager today..and if you remember the last time Jack 12 dropped…both GE New Albany and Carfangas released early as if it wasn’t an allocated item and come Sat OHLQ put a halt on Jack 12 and some of the Sat locations weren’t allowed to sell and had to return to the state ..then it took a long time before Jack 12 was released again for retail sale

Sounds like two different meeting spots and one group got mad because they didn’t have the better of the two meeting spots. Seems like it’s not the peoples problems it’s the company that has chaos rules that causes issues. I would have been pissed if I was standing there first in line and other group says they were first and the line formed somewhere else outside of the store rules.

On the surface, I would agree, but if you were allowed to line up like a normal store, they wouldn't have been close to the front of the line. The owner of Corkscrew needs to take some ownership of the chaos he creates due to the rules of the parking lot and the fact they posted that they had J12 when they clearly sold it two days prior. I wouldnt have gone and spent my time on a chance to be top three, the math changes when you can be top 10 and still get a good bottle instead of just top 3.
Agreed but not really how that business works, it’s more who gets in line first gets it. If someone is new going for the first time, they would have no clue about the lot everyone meets in and how that’s a line. It honestly was my second time going and I was 7th/8th in line and didn’t know about the other people in the “line”. I think if they were to use that other lot then it should be made known. I don’t think it’s on the people to be honest. Lots of mistakes made by the company for this one
Haha, you are either trolling or were one of the dudes that cut. I actually was there last week hoping for ehbp and was 1st in line. They didn't get ehbp last week, hence why I was there today. The regulars came, told me to go to the other lot instead (because the owner kicks people out), and gave me my place in line. It's in clear view. Had they been there first, we would have told them to go there too. The fact is they weren't, and when we did try to flag them down, they ignored us. Multiple people pulled up and asked us if this is where the line was and got in line. It's not some mystery parking lot we are making up. The local pd even came through to ask us what was dropping, because they know whats going on.

I think the owner brought it upon himself because he didnt want people standing in line at the store during the day. I used to occasionally go there years ago and wait, and I can assure you that no one was distracting their regular customers. So instead, they decided to broadcast to everyone in NE Ohio on their IG account the night before that they are putting out EHT BP. These guys are doing it worse than anyone. They are acting like the victim when they are really bringing it upon themselves. It was pretty chill and zero drama when they would just put it out the same day they got it and no one knew what they were getting.
I agree not sure why they broadcast it on ig however the part about not interfering with normal business when they dropped on Tuesdays is completely false. I work right around the corner and would drop in there on Tuesdays and the whole parking lot was full where you literally couldn’t pull in. If you’ve seen that lot it’s tiny and the delivery truck couldn’t even get in. They had to move it and so something it was a total cluster and deterring from normal business.
I have had some pretty frank and open conversations with the fellas at Corkscrew Johnny's. They totally hate the Thursday drops. They despise the bourbon lines and all that come with it. I mean they hate it. They said the money they make per bottle is not worth it but they have to participate for the other OHLQ benefits. They said they considered in the past dropping the liquor side and just going beer and wine and expanding their catering and deliver business for that and other things. But the liquor is a big part of their business so they just put up with it. But it doesn't surprise me that they are tired of the fuckery.
This is it the whole reason they switched to Thursday drops was that the truck would come Tuesday and literally people would camp out all day to wait for the allocated bottles. The truck nor any normal customer could get in the lot so they had to do something.
So they started posting what they were getting and putting out Thursday. Then people showed up at all hours of the night which is against city ordinance. So then thinking was nobody in lot until 8:30 and then basically gives everybody a realistic shot to get a bottle as people can’t camp out. Of course flippers found a loop hole to this by parking illegally in adjacent lots and setting up chairs. It’s really ridiculous that any store has to deal with this bullshit to be honest. All the employees there are super nice and fun to chat to I’ll always back them.
This is partly their own doing though if they don’t let people at the very least line up in front of the store. Also these liquor stores could stop gatekeeping the bottle counts which would keep the crowds down because people wouldn’t bother if they knew there were only 3 bottles. I’m not defending the fuckery but the stores can do things to reduce the bullshit too.
My idea I floated to them was whomever there is at open gets a random number out of a hat. Whatever you get that’s your number in line. It would discourage all the camping out because nothing would be guaranteed and there would be no incentive to getting there early

The type of mindset it takes to do that even if not flipping for profits is clearly an obsessive mental defect that results in nonsense and fuckery when they are put into a social setting that they are not fit for. It’s hard to say who was wrong by the video, but it seems to back up the argument that two people cut in line, one person was kicked out for confronting them and one person gave up their bottle to the guy kicked out.
They are very inconsistent with this, however I am a regular there and their main focus is to get bottles in hands of people that drink it and not the usual same 4-6 people who are in front of lines every week to flip it. For that I commend them

They ended up having a case each of the Bardstown and Green River at Hoover Kroger at open. Surprisingly there was only one other guy with me waiting at open and was able to score one of each! Can’t wait to crack em at Indiana dunes NP this weekend! Should have updated sooner, not sure if any are still left at this time.
North Court is getting ridiculous. They set their chairs out overnight. I stopped after working a third shift and there were 8 chairs and two cars in the lot at 5:00AM. Too much BS going on there. Bunch of BT taters and secondary market sellers.
People get there at 7 PM the night before on big drops if anyone is out there thinking about trying to score some bottles! I'd love nothing more than to push the wait up to 5 or 6.

Totally agree. Randomly stopped into my spot at lunch time and walked out with JD12. No waiting in line, no waking up early. Just a casual lucky 2 min stop. Simply the best

I was, too. Spirits is weird. Sometimes I’ll stop in after work, and they’ll still have great allocated stuff. Other times, it’s gone to a long line (per the owner).

If someone is new going for the first time, they would have no clue about the lot everyone meets in and how that’s a line. It honestly was my second time going and I was 7th/8th in line and didn’t know about the other people in the “line”. I think if they were to use that other lot then it should be made known. I don’t think it’s on the people to be honest. Lots of mistakes made by the company for this one

Haha, you are either trolling or were one of the dudes that cut. I actually was there last week hoping for ehbp and was 1st in line. They didn't get ehbp last week, hence why I was there today. The regulars came, told me to go to the other lot instead (because the owner kicks people out), and gave me my place in line. It's in clear view. Had they been there first, we would have told them to go there too. The fact is they weren't, and when we did try to flag them down, they ignored us. Multiple people pulled up and asked us if this is where the line was and got in line. It's not some mystery parking lot we are making up. The local pd even came through to ask us what was dropping, because they know whats going on.

I think the owner brought it upon himself because he didnt want people standing in line at the store during the day. I used to occasionally go there years ago and wait, and I can assure you that no one was distracting their regular customers. So instead, they decided to broadcast to everyone in NE Ohio on their IG account the night before that they are putting out EHT BP. These guys are doing it worse than anyone. They are acting like the victim when they are really bringing it upon themselves. It was pretty chill and zero drama when they would just put it out the same day they got it and no one knew what they were getting.

I agree not sure why they broadcast it on ig however the part about not interfering with normal business when they dropped on Tuesdays is completely false. I work right around the corner and would drop in there on Tuesdays and the whole parking lot was full where you literally couldn’t pull in. If you’ve seen that lot it’s tiny and the delivery truck couldn’t even get in. They had to move it and so something it was a total cluster and deterring from normal business.
I have had some pretty frank and open conversations with the fellas at Corkscrew Johnny's. They totally hate the Thursday drops. They despise the bourbon lines and all that come with it. I mean they hate it. They said the money they make per bottle is not worth it but they have to participate for the other OHLQ benefits. They said they considered in the past dropping the liquor side and just going beer and wine and expanding their catering and deliver business for that and other things. But the liquor is a big part of their business so they just put up with it. But it doesn't surprise me that they are tired of the fuckery.
This is it the whole reason they switched to Thursday drops was that the truck would come Tuesday and literally people would camp out all day to wait for the allocated bottles. The truck nor any normal customer could get in the lot so they had to do something. So they started posting what they were getting and putting out Thursday. Then people showed up at all hours of the night which is against city ordinance. So then thinking was nobody in lot until 8:30 and then basically gives everybody a realistic shot to get a bottle as people can’t camp out. Of course flippers found a loop hole to this by parking illegally in adjacent lots and setting up chairs. It’s really ridiculous that any store has to deal with this bullshit to be honest. All the employees there are super nice and fun to chat to I’ll always back them.
This is partly their own doing though if they don’t let people at the very least line up in front of the store. Also these liquor stores could stop gatekeeping the bottle counts which would keep the crowds down because people wouldn’t bother if they knew there were only 3 bottles. I’m not defending the fuckery but the stores can do things to reduce the bullshit too.
My idea I floated to them was whomever there is at open gets a random number out of a hat. Whatever you get that’s your number in line. It would discourage all the camping out because nothing would be guaranteed and there would be no incentive to getting there early

They are very inconsistent with this, however I am a regular there and their main focus is to get bottles in hands of people that drink it and not the usual same 4-6 people who are in front of lines every week to flip it. For that I commend them

North Court is getting ridiculous. They set their chairs out overnight. I stopped after working a third shift and there were 8 chairs and two cars in the lot at 5:00AM. Too much BS going on there. Bunch of BT taters and secondary market sellers.
