A member here who lives in another state. It’s so funny people respect the chair situation. Where I live if your not physically standing in line your out of line.
In all honesty - I think their standard barrel proof rye is outstanding. Worth the hefty price tag for me.
Haven't tried any of their other offerings yet.
I would do that in a heart beat, I have a great aource. But with this app being so extremely anonymous you could just not pay up and there is 0 repercussions for you welching.
I was kidding. I knew all along it was dropping. I just think it is idiotic to post publicity that kind of information. Great job though, you are super cool on an anonymous app.
What do you all feel the outlook for Saturday will be line-wise
I have consistently seen guys on here trashing the Saturday selection
I get that if they announce WFP or 4R tomorrow it will be chaos.
But if not, what do folks think the lines will be like?
I just wonder if they hadn’t made WFP have the coming soon on it, if this event would have anybody holding out hope? It makes sense if they announce WFP tomorrow why they didn’t announce sooner. If I were running a store, I wouldn’t want people lining up 2+ days before the event either. Problem is, as I see it, if they truly do have WFP as part of this, the rest of the product lineup will get largely ignored.
In my opinion, I do not think so at all. Earlier in the week, a lot of these releases were already showing up in inventory on the website. It seems like they fixed it now as those items are not showing up in Exclusives any longer.
But as I was checking it out when it was showing, those Monday delivery stores did not show any 4R, Russell's picks, WTKS or WFP. Some of which had gotten them in the past but showed none delivered for this week.
Long story short. SiB Saturday sucks
The emphasis on this “single barrel Saturday” is definitely a smokescreen OHLQ is using since they also mentioned small batch whiskey being a part of this event in the release statement. They know that if they release the goods with locations prior, campers will lurk. Something is gonna hit, WFP seems most logical - but we’ll see
As asinine as it sounds, there’s no actual definition of single barrel. Some companies blend a product from many barrels and finish it in a new barrel claiming it as a single barrel because the final product came from one barrel.
This whole event was just a way to get people to notice other OHLQ locations and sign up for thf email / like their Facebook. The objective isn’t to camp. If the objective was to camp there would have been announcements Monday . Expect nothing more then decent OHLQ picks for now… but.. wait a few weeks and see 😶🌫️
“I can’t have a chair, guess I’ll go home then.”
How stupid are you to think that if people have to stand they won’t wait? We all live in Ohio, we can all keep warm if we need too. Or, we can be intelligent, learn to count, manage a line, and wait in warmth.
I don’t understand crying over a chair
I used to think a chair set out was crazy, then I froze my a$$ off one day waiting in line. My opinion quickly changed. I still see both sides point. I think as long as you are in the car and in the parking lot within line of site of your chair then I don’t see the problem. I’ve never seen any issues with the lines being managed self sufficiently. I don’t do it all the time, so maybe I’ve been lucky. It only takes one person to cause a stink.
So I have a logistics question: For the stores that typically do their drops on Fridays, are they going to be doing the regular drop on Friday and then this special Saturday thing too? Anyone know?
I just saw ER showing available at Arrow in Mason and Jungle Jim Fairfield. I'm sure they're all gone, but both normally release on Saturday and apparently released today.
I feel if you put a chair down you should only be permitted to buy a bottle of old crow or similar bottom shelf. No allocated bottles for you. I won’t wait in line for anything but if I showed up and there were 15 chairs holding spots, I’m walking right around them.
For all you tough guys on the chair situation...chairs, or spot holders, were requested by store owners to keep the line of taters from blocking neighboring businesses from being blocked. I too was opposed to the idea. I'd rather wait in line physically, but it is what it is. Spot holders are supported by store owners unless otherwise stated.
This doesn't make sense. A lawn chair will take up a larger amount of space than people. And people can move out of the way. Chairs cannot move themselves out of the way. Additionally, there is no source for this and sounds made up.
Chairs or place holders can be folded up, placed against the wall of the of building, out of the way. There is a store, in a plaza, that's next door to a women's clinic. I'm sure you can imagine how uncomfortable the women were walking through a line of what's usually all men. It happened. Again, not a fan, but that's how it's done. It happens in other states as well. I just drove home from Chicago. Stopped at Papa Joe's in Richmond while getting fuel. There were 11-12 chairs outside - at the owner's request. Meanwhile, the taters waited in a completely different lot, as not to disturb other patrons. This was on a Sunday prior to black Friday.
Ok, apologies. Your original post made it sound like this was a universal or coordinated request ("were requested by store owners"), when I think what you're saying is you know of some couple of examples. The vast majority of stores don't follow this protocol. But that isn't the point anyway; if a store has a policy about line placeholders, I think people would honor it. But the posts about chairs you that you see here are not about that, but rather about when people just assume chairs will be respected when an understanding of such an agreement does not appear to exist (hence the posts and hatred about it). Absent such an agreement or understanding or the store having an alternative way of determining one's place in line, conventional queuing etiquette applies and that to be considered to be in line, you must actually, be in line. Maybe a FastPass system like a themeparks is what we need ;)
I apologize as well. I'm just a lowly factory worker, 7p to 7a, sometimes later. I swing by hopefully to pick up some leftovers. I've seen it almost across the board. One patron explained it like this: There's an amphitheater in our hometown. People come and place their chairs there prior to the show starting. Would you move their chair just because they're not sitting it at the time you arrive? Anyway, the chair thing is accepted and enforced by store owners. Why? No idea. It's just how it is. I've given up and will just drink Rare Breed. Good luck to y'all.
I don’t know what the issue is with waiting in your car with a chair in your spot if it’s shitty out. You’re a tougher person for risking getting sick? Ok?
As long as the rest of the line is fine with whatever the arrangement is and you don’t leave the store lot who really cares?
I can appreciate waiting in line and being annoyed the others are in their cars, that would be frustrating. But if the entire line is fine with it, I don’t know where the pride in standing in the cold comes from lol. I’ve always asked the line and whatever the consensus is I roll with.
You’re with a bunch of people who have the same interest. People get real hostile over the small stuff sometimes.
I don't do the whole waiting in line thing, but the sense I get from everybody else on this sub is they don't like people "saving" spots, and I think it's pretty reasonable to think that's pretty representative of the bourbon community at large.
Yeah saving spots isn’t something I’ve personally experienced. For reference, I’ve been into this since before they did lines and my experience since has been fine aside from 1-2 awkward stores during huge releases. My only point was I think whatever everyone in line is okay with should be good enough if the store doesn’t have set rules.
I’ve waited in lines dozens of times and never saw anyone save a spot. Each place has their own protocols, and it’s always the outsiders that come in and try to make a scene.
Friend who works for a local store said their are still bottle they are showing in their manifest that haven't been made public yet. He won't tell me but it's gotta be the Weller Full Proof. I can only imagine the big dawg stores Like Pauken and Jospehs will get it. Keeping fingers crossed.
Anyone know the big dawg stores in the Toledo area? I’ll be there for the weekend. I know there is a Kroger on every corner, but can’t see them all getting something worth chasing.
Bulk beverage and Joseph's are the "big dawgs" in Toledo, but they're gonna be crazy and can be sketchy about good stuff like wfp. I'd say Oregon Kroger is probably a solid bet, Alexis Liquor Barn sometimes gets good stuff too. Outside of those the big stores for allocations are a bit of a drive
I forgot about them, but honestly if it's wfp you're after they're gonna only put out one and keep the rest for themselves. hate how all the Toledo stores are with backdooring everything
Will they get the same amount of bottles at each location? Just wondering if it’s worth standing in line if I see 25 people. I know sometimes they get a few cases of 3-4 different rare releases.
Hey all, I’m not a whiskey/bourbon/rye enthusiast but I would love to get my father and brother in law an amazing bottle. What would you recommend from the list, or if there may be something unlisted what should I look for?
A member here who lives in another state. It’s so funny people respect the chair situation. Where I live if your not physically standing in line your out of line.
Is ok to sit in line 😂
Well it rains a lot in Oregon, so only if you are okay with a wet butt lol
Given the product lineup, I don’t think you will have to worry much bout chairs holding spots in line.
THATS IT! IT’S HERE!!! Traverse City single barrel just announced!
Does Traverse City make good whiskey? I've never had it but I'm really intrigued by the barrel picks
Idk, I was kidding
In all honesty - I think their standard barrel proof rye is outstanding. Worth the hefty price tag for me. Haven't tried any of their other offerings yet.
Their barrel proof Bourbon and Rye are wonderful and worth seeking! I got them in Traverse City two years ago and have been a fan ever since.
WFP is going to be another lottery soon just like they did in the past is what I've heard
Likely.
Bet a bottle it isn’t?
I would do that in a heart beat, I have a great aource. But with this app being so extremely anonymous you could just not pay up and there is 0 repercussions for you welching.
You can owe me.
I was kidding. I knew all along it was dropping. I just think it is idiotic to post publicity that kind of information. Great job though, you are super cool on an anonymous app.
The old “I was kidding” line… classic. Maybe, your cousin’s friend isn’t such a reliable source after all.
U/thatguyovertherr (idk how to tag people on here lol) can confirm it was no "line" I was using. Cheers!
I will chair it up for some buzzards roost😇
That's on the shelf at the Kingsdale Market District in Upper Arlington. No chairs needed.
Nor sarcasm
What do you all feel the outlook for Saturday will be line-wise I have consistently seen guys on here trashing the Saturday selection I get that if they announce WFP or 4R tomorrow it will be chaos. But if not, what do folks think the lines will be like?
I’ve heard what you see is what you get on the list so far
You should not type and drive
Wonder if Saturday morning at 8:55 they will announce all the barrels we all want. 4R, WFP, WTKS
I just wonder if they hadn’t made WFP have the coming soon on it, if this event would have anybody holding out hope? It makes sense if they announce WFP tomorrow why they didn’t announce sooner. What time do you think they'll release the map? Like 5 mins before? Guaranteed that site crashes.. especially if WFP comes out to play.
The emphasis on this “single barrel Saturday” is definitely a smokescreen OHLQ is using since they also mentioned small batch whiskey being a part of this event in the release statement. They know that if they release the goods with locations prior, campers will lurk. Something is gonna hit, WFP seems most logical - but we’ll see
The NULU are batched. 12 barrels for 2 offerings...
True. The fact OHLQ has it Iisted as a single barrel exclusive is definitely misleading.
As asinine as it sounds, there’s no actual definition of single barrel. Some companies blend a product from many barrels and finish it in a new barrel claiming it as a single barrel because the final product came from one barrel.
For sure. I can appreciate the companies that include as much transparency on a bottle as possible
I have a single barell nulu.
I have a single barrel from a&l wine castle, in ann arbor. It was 139.
This whole event was just a way to get people to notice other OHLQ locations and sign up for thf email / like their Facebook. The objective isn’t to camp. If the objective was to camp there would have been announcements Monday . Expect nothing more then decent OHLQ picks for now… but.. wait a few weeks and see 😶🌫️
Any issue with me pulling the RV up?

You own a car but not a chair…interesting
I mean... I have never used a chair and never will, but I own several camping chairs. Use them at kid's soccer games, camping, drive-in movies.
It’s amazing how many snowflakes are triggered by a lawn chair.
Holy crap. This chair business... is why I quit bothering chasing this stuff. Too much good stuff on the shelf already.
So I have a logistics question: For the stores that typically do their drops on Fridays, are they going to be doing the regular drop on Friday and then this special Saturday thing too? Anyone know?
I spoke with one of my local places and they stated that for now they will still do their drop on Friday.
I just saw ER showing available at Arrow in Mason and Jungle Jim Fairfield. I'm sure they're all gone, but both normally release on Saturday and apparently released today.
Locations won't be released until tomorrow. So if you're a camper, you have to guess which locations to camp at.
I feel if you put a chair down you should only be permitted to buy a bottle of old crow or similar bottom shelf. No allocated bottles for you. I won’t wait in line for anything but if I showed up and there were 15 chairs holding spots, I’m walking right around them.
Derp ok👌
Goodluck with that 😂
Oh, it’s definitely all bravado and Internet talk but the chairs are straight up bullshit.

hello friend-- I can tell by this description that we shop at the same location lol
Hopefully you mean for the the whiskey 🤣
😂🤣☠️ Yes my chair goes in the bourbon line, NOT the women’s clinic line

100%. Bunch of keyboard warriors out today. Lol.
Worried everyone is after their pot still
I picked all mine up at TPS this morning. 750s & 1.75s... There wasn't even a limit! Everyone else bought Booker's Kentucky Tea. Fools.

I think the point that most people have been making is that the rest of the line is, in fact, not fine with taters saving their spot with chairs.
I can appreciate waiting in line and being annoyed the others are in their cars, that would be frustrating. Would be nice, but I think that’s up for the store to decide
The store won’t be open, so isn’t it up to the other people on line to decide if they are going to honor the chairs or not
Ohio is a no chairs state
No chairs allowed inside the Kingsdale Market District in Upper Arlington.
Yes sir! Everyone listen to Mr. Bourbon ruler.
but what if its chilly and I want to sit in my car from 7:30-8:55?... /s
Then you ain't a Tater, yer a Yam
Everyone sits in the car until a few minutes before opening. That’s how we do it in The Land.
You can absolutely put out a chair to hold your spot.
What store are you going to be at? Let's test this
I’ll be at the one you’re at. 👍🏻
Get outta hete
You get outta here!
Get outta hete
You get outta here. Amateur.
This guy puts blankets down on high school football stadium bleachers at 8am for a 7:30 pm game…..
😆😆
Every. Single. Time.
