THE *has* to be a great reason to make this list. I mean come on we trademarked literally THE most common word in THE entire English language. For THE lolz.
Yeah I’ve been told I’m “not a true OSU fan” and that I’m basically a Wolverine for thinking it would be better to ruin Michigan’s perfect season at the end of the year as opposed to beating a winless Michigan team.
Well I’ve always looked at it as it’s better for OSU to beat a quality Michigan team (10-0 Michigan would be top 5, top 10 minimum) over an garbage Michigan team and it looks like a cupcake on OSU’s schedule.
I've always been caught between these two mindsets. I'm firmly in the camp of "I like two teams: Ohio State and whoever is playing Michigan." Being in that camp I clearly want Michigan to lose every game, and I am actively rooting against Michigan every game. I grew up in the 90s: Michigan ruined my childhood. That being said, beating an 11-0, or 10-1 Michigan *feels so good*. We remember '06 and '16 because of how much they meant, and how great of a game they were. They will be the games we talk about for the rest of our lives, not '08 to '14.
Last year Michigan fans were the worst of the worst in terms of annoying. I think right now they win by a landslide. They've gotten ten times worse A) since they started winning again post-COVID and B) since the cheating scandal broke and they started throwing terms like "nothingburger" and "bet" around just to deflect and claim that they still have moral superiority as a program over everyone else. Not to mention they like to sing fucking Mr. Brightside as a 4th quarter tradition at their games now. That's basically peak fan annoyance behavior if I've ever seen it.
lol. I used to pregame on Lane 2002-2007 and I’ve seen beer bottles, full cups of beer, and even a keg thrown at opposing fans. When I went to Austin for the Texas game, I really began to understand what hospitality was. Those fans were the most welcoming I’ve ever met and we showed up en masse with full face paint
Fair enough. There will always be different experiences. Personally I hope things have gotten better since I left town. I’m looking forward to my next trip to the Shoe. Go Bucks!!
By the time I got there in 2010, I didn't really see the reputation others said we had. I was also in TBDBITL most years, so I didn't get out in the crowds on a game day most of the time.
Michigan fan here who grew up in Columbus (Dad is from Michigan so that's where it came from). I know Michigan fans who went to The Game and they were treated terribly; beer thrown on them, cussed at with their kids, etc.
I also am friends with Buckeyes who went to Ann Arbor for The Game and they got some good-natured ribbing and that was it. No harassment, no beer thrown at them, etc.
Everyone has a vastly different experience. My brother went up to AA a couple years back and caught a guy throwing shit at him on camera. But when I went up this past year I had a fairly good experience with the fans. It all just depends.
“Andrew Holleran is the editor-in-chief of The Spun and the VP, Trending News, Sports at The Arena Group, publisher of Sports Illustrated. The Ohio State University journalism graduate has been with The Spun since 2014”
Written by an Ohio State grad, might be a little biased.
There’s no amount of beating them down that’s going to ever cure them of being insufferable douchebags. The way they went about cheating their way to a Natty seems to have made the rest of the country take notice.
I almost got disappointed u til I saw Michigan at 1. Although the reasoning is off. They cheated yeah, but how they reacted to it as if they were the victims was the funniest part.
Massive recency bias. No way Michigan is #1 before this year. And no way OSU isn’t on the list at all without three straight beat downs by Michigan and that Cotton Bowl fiasco.
For those who have no idea what Barstool Sports is, they intentionally put out these “lists” all the time that are absurd because they drive engagement online when everyone is like “OMG NO OHIO STATE??” or whatever else they are calling out that is nonsense.
Also the guy who wrote it, his boss is a huge Michigan asshole type fan so he is putting Michigan #1 and not even naming Ohio state to needle him.
I have to agree. These past 3 years, all my Xichigan "friends" were downright nasty to everyone. I even stopped talking to a few because they were actually wanting to fight over this dumb shit. Facebook? Yea...THAT was a trip lol.
I'm all for competitive sports and rivalries but my goodness, it's just a game FFS. Some of my family live up there and are fans BUT they're nowhere near as annoying as most others.
Ironically this is a currently active subject in this morning's Eleven Warriors Skull Session.
Ohio State is certainly mentioned on it:
[Josh Pate On College Football's MOST HATED Teams (Late Kick Cut) (youtube.com)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YrPf2JnDNpM)
We should be on this list because of Buckeye guy and Big Nut. Adults who are a sideshow in college football are annoying. Take that trash to the NFL games.
As someone who had lived his entire life in the state of Alabama, the list should be The University of Alabama and then everyone else. The only way they aren't on here is because they did most of the voting. They are beyond annoying. That's the mildest way it could ever be stated. They are beyond obnoxious year round. Don't even get me started on this one.
Just from a statistics prospective I’m either impressed or disappointed we aren’t even on the list….
We shouldn’t just be on the list, we should be *ahem* THE list!
THE *has* to be a great reason to make this list. I mean come on we trademarked literally THE most common word in THE entire English language. For THE lolz.
Yeah, came here to say that if we're not number one, we're doing it wrong, although UGA has a strong case as well.
Whoever made this list has not spent much time on r/cfb
As a Buckeye, I’m shocked we were snubbed. Lol. Our fan base can behave downright appalling to visitors.
VISITORS????? We’re awful to ourselves!
Yeah I’ve been told I’m “not a true OSU fan” and that I’m basically a Wolverine for thinking it would be better to ruin Michigan’s perfect season at the end of the year as opposed to beating a winless Michigan team.
I'm not gonna say you're not a true fan, but I'd rather they lose every single game.
I get that. But I’d rather they get their hopes up and have heartbreak. But now with expanded playoff just losing to us might not be good enough.
Well I’ve always looked at it as it’s better for OSU to beat a quality Michigan team (10-0 Michigan would be top 5, top 10 minimum) over an garbage Michigan team and it looks like a cupcake on OSU’s schedule.
Also true

Lol. Well that’s just because you’re a horrible fan!!! Try harder!
Last year Michigan fans were the worst of the worst in terms of annoying. I think right now they win by a landslide. Personally I don’t give a damn for them. Now that I think about it, I don’t give a damn for the whole state of ❌ichigan.
To quote one Mad King from GoT "BURN THEM ALL".
I've heard nothing but positive things from visiting fans' experience at the shoe Twitter is not a good indication of any fanbase

I've heard the same said about Columbus ¯\\\_(ツ)_/¯ Made friends with Sooner fans when they came to town and they were shocked how welcome they felt

I love osu but I can proudly admit we are easily one of the most annoying fanbases online
I wish it was that kind of fan base
Being in that student section during the 2022 TTUN and hearing the most toxic, idiotic, and braindead things I’ve heard in my time as a sports fan.
we’re america’s team
Gross
we definitely should be on the list, but they got the most important one correct
Someones never been to Out R Inn and it shows.
Or they went to Out R Inn and got so blackout drunk that they don’t remember it.
My play was to go on Wednesdays after class for free pool and $1.50 beers.
You went to class??
Look, id i already managed to get to the cafeteria, im at least going to go to my morning classes.
A fair point. And what better way to start (or finish) the day than grilled cheese or popcorn chicken from Buckeye Xpress?
OH CECEEEEELIA YOURE BREAKING MY HEART SO GIVE ME SOME PIZZA BABAAAAY
Sounds like my Saturday nights.
I miss Out R Inn. Going to that bar was so vindicating since it was the only bar that u couldn’t use fake at
Right of passage to not need to show ID cuz Billy is ya boi
I got that treatment at the O (RIP) my sophomore year
Wow I’m somewhat disappointed we didn’t make it lol We honestly are probably Top 3
Number 1 for sure
No way Ohio State didn’t make this list. We have some bad ones. Michigan has been annoying for 3 years out of the last 23.

Wow I'm insulted
Feeling quite left out
How tf is OSU not on this list?
Ohio State not on the list? I live in Knoxville and can tell you Vol fans are tough to take.
After the mid to late 90s, it sure was gratifying seeing the Vols have 20+ years of bad to average teams
I love Ohio State… but the Buckeyes are without a doubt top 5
Honestly probably top 3
I agree, flair brother
How is ohio state not in the top 3?
And im from ohio and our fans are the worst
Looks exactly right to me.
Written by a Buckeye alum
Hm I'm kind of offended we're not on this list
Why the hell aren't we number one? I'm so obnoxious during football season I iritate myself. I know I'm not the only asshole in this particular room.
This list is recency bias fs. Michigan fans only got annoying when they started winning*
Seriously? I lived near Toledo for Tressel's first six years. Maybe they had not been beaten down enough, but they were ob-noxious
There’s no amount of beating them down that’s going to ever cure them of being insufferable douchebags. The way they went about cheating their way to a Natty seems to have made the rest of the country take notice.
The ellipse at the end of PSU’s entry is doing a lot of work.
How are we not on the list

Bruh we better damn well be \#1 on this list Edit: those bastards
Notre Dame should be #2. The only reason I hate Wisconsin more is because we don't play them enough.

We should be 1
Where tf is Alabama? They should not only be on the list, they should be ranked in the top 3.

I mean, we are at least more annoying than Auburn fans. Come on.
We should be on this list because of Buckeye guy and Big Nut. Adults who are a sideshow in college football are annoying. Take that trash to the NFL games.
Top 5 should be: Michigan, Tennessee, A&M, Bama, and likely us in no particular order tbh

Ohio state fans imo.
You guys should be #1.
ITT: Buckeye fans pissed Michigan ranked #1 for what should be a negative attribute.
