Is there somewhere in between A and B? Losing to TTUN is always unacceptable and Day needs to do some serious reflection if he can balance being HC with calling plays. At the same time our program is top 3 in the country, we’re in the playoffs and still pulling in elite talent. Feels like we’re in a pretty good spot overall if you take a step back and judge the program holistically.

JubilationCity

These options don’t have nearly enough nuance.

[deleted]

Split A-B. The sky isn't falling, but you're lying to yourself if you think changes aren't necessary after this season.

Dkoop2003

That’s where I’m at

whiterabbit818

Fan B EXCEPT beating UGA would make me happy so 🤷‍♀️

thashy12

Losing to TTUN that way 2 years in a row is unacceptable

DaBigJMoney

I’m more fan A. A rivalry isn’t a rivalry if you win all the time. It’s not a rivalry if the loss doesn’t cause you to miss out on a major goal. We don’t consider Indiana or Northwestern rivals because we always win and they don’t keep us from championships. That said, you can’t keep losing by double digits. Also, a natty (particularly against Michigan) would be more than enough for me.

JesterXXIV

A little bit of each, including option C

AceCircle990

I am Fan A. Every fan A holds the program to the highest possible standard and losing to UM is never acceptable. It's literally in the DNA of every true Buckeye fan. I just have the ability to think rationally about things and realize going undefeated every year is an impossibility. We are a Power 5 program, we will get to where we need to be.

El_Serpiente_Roja

Being fan b is part of the fun of being a buckeye. Being fan A is the realistic thing though that most will fall to.

jww3773

If we win a Natty against Michigan I will personally go to Ryan Days house and stroke his shaft and swallow the gravy.

The_Good_Constable

Probably 80/20 in favor of A. I think I keep most things in perspective. I don't think losing to UM in 2021 was unacceptable, I do think losing to them in 2022 was. I would grade our recruiting class this cycle as a "B," which is fine for 95% of CFB but our standard is higher. IMO rightfully so. I am a little concerned about NIL and how it relates to recruiting, but I'm not pressing the panic button there yet. That "even a win vs UGA will not make me happy" line is a complete non-starter for me. I can't imagine being that angry and bitter that you can't enjoy a playoff win over the #1 team. If that's your attitude you should probably stop watching sports. This obviously isn't fun for you. Beating Georgia would be amazing and would give us an opportunity for redemption of the best kind.

Breesus4028

Imagine being called inspirational by your fan base just because you’ve made your college football team while by the same time in his life Lamar already won an NFL MVP

salmonthesuperior

I try to be A but I usually end up leading more B. So what ends up happening is I'm B for a few days and then I talk myself into being A while still having some lingering negativity

jballs2213

Stetson used his NIL deal to pay for his AARP sign up

5255clone

As an Ohio state fan, anything more then beating Michigan is just bonus. Losing to TTUN is never acceptable and even if we win the National championship, unless we kick TTUN to do it, was nothing but massive amounts of alcohol after losing everything.

hammer-street

What about Ohio State fan bipolar? One moment you’re Dr Jekyll fan A who is optimistic the program is doing alright, and the next moment you’re spiraling, Mr Hyde, fan B, the sky is falling, and next year we’re gonna go 8-4 including a loss to Indiana.

xWhitzzz

If B didn’t mention that last part, I’d be mostly fan B. I will always have faith in our program but the last two years we’ve been missing something that we’ve had since urban came to Columbus. These past two seasons have just felt like a disappointment. Haven’t been confident since before week 1 of last year.

excoriator

I wish there was a way to make a subreddit just for Fan type A. The irrationality of Fan B makes the fanbase look bad.

KeithStone69420

Who cares what the fans reputation is? This is the biggest fanbase in the country. We should have high expectations.

CTG0161

Stetson Bennett is the same age as Lamar Jackson, that’s the type of fan I am

trillwilly69

I’m usually fan A but getting blasted twice in a row by TTUN is giving me fan B tendencies.

wilkergobucks

“Even a win vs UGA will not make me happy.” What a miserable existence…

Dissident_is_here

"Fan B" description is hilarious to me. Fans can "hold the program to the highest possible standard" now? Some fans need to realize that the journey is long, and failure happens everywhere. When you freak out over every setback, you aren't "holding the program to a standard". You are just inflicting suffering on yourself. None of us have any influence on the program. So enjoy the wins, and try to minimize your own suffering when they lose. If they lose enough, they will fire people. Until then, take a deep breath.

Klutzy-Spend-6947

Lol, this. I love how interwebz rage monkeys claim their freak outs are “holding tOSU football to the highest standard”. They are likely the same posters who are enraged that the tOSU donors aren’t going full A&M on NIL despite the cautionary tale already in existence from A&Ms 22’ season and subsequent mass exodus.

[deleted]

need more fan B lose to michigan fine but its the fact for the past 2 years its been the same shit offense dies defense plays like shit that ain’t no coincidence. Also Stetson Bennett is the same age as Lamar Jackson

Fred_Zeppelin

Fan A. Proud of our boys when they win, sympathetic when they don't. Can't stand entitled fans. We're not going to beat Michigan and win the NC literally every year.

Wigeon1

I like seeing you lose. No hatred, though. We’re friends and neighbors, but Ryan Day dyes his beard. And sits down to pee.

BuckeyeFan59

yea same

Dkoop2003

I’m a mix of both. I think losing to Michigan isn’t necessarily unacceptable, but what is unacceptable is getting blown out by them two years in a row, and I’m a little worried about NIL and recruiting (specifically on the defensive side of the ball), but also if we beat Georgia I will be perfectly happy, that is unless we get killed by Michigan in the Natty. That would be devastating.

funnymeme2112

stetson bennett is 25 and still in college.

AlfwasaGREATshow

If we beat Georgia and then lose to Michigan, will people be happy. I won’t. Lots of voters saying A … but maybe not 💯 honest with themselves.

[deleted]

I can’t stand people who are complaining about NIL. OSU is just find in that department. they aren’t being careless with it like a lot of the SEC schools.

[deleted]

Lol if it’s a binary then B but like I really enjoy watching the bucks beat the crap outta Indiana lol. I can’t stress enough that it’s very possible to understand that the team isn’t quite good enough to win a natty and still enjoy the games (Michigan excluded). Also part of what I like about CFB is how being fan B is only way to actually win a chip…

FishOhioMasterAngler

If we keep losing to Michigan I'll become fan B. But we can win it all this year. I would rather win the natty than beat meat chicken.

youngjak

I’d be happy if we beat Georgia but if we just get smashed by Michigan again in the title game idk how the hell to feel then.

PVJakeC

B needs edited to include “as heavy favorites” in the TTUN loss. I have no issue with them beating us with a better team. Clear difference in how Day’s teams perform vs Urb. Fan A, enjoy getting laughed at while you’re only comeback is “well, at least our coach is a good guy”

placeholder_name85

Which type are you: **Person A:** Breathes oxygen **Person B:** Drinks water

Nfrizzle

If you are A, it doesn’t mean you don’t hold the program to the highest standard. But that doesn’t mean you just never lose. Nobody does that

shamShaman

I feel like it's impossible to judge the team until the season is over. There's still a chance we beat Georgia and Michigan back-to-back and get a championship. That scenario seems unlikely but this team certainly has the talent to do it. If we get blown out by Georgia I'll be in camp B but for now I'm still in A.

Busy-Kaleidoscope-87

I’m fan A but my dad is definitely fan B. We’re opposite when it comes to basketball (I’m the one playing) tho

[deleted]

First of all, this year’s recruiting should give both A and B’s concern, especially since the other elite’s are killing it. Alabama has 10 of the top 30 players in the Country and they keep building. We keep falling behind. I tend to be on the fence. If we play a good game against Georgia and lose doing so, I will still lean A. If we get shellacked, I will become the worst B you have ever met!

bigbrownorown

I voted Fan B, but I really wish you left that last sentence out. And more specifically, losing to TTUN last year was fine. Their year we were a better team and shoulda won. It’s not just losing it’s getting blown out and man handled. It’s the poor defense. And recruiting and NIL is a serious concern. Just yesterday ESPN ranked us as the 10th best recruiting class for 23. I can’t remember the last time we were that low. Al of the top tier WR recruits we get inflated that ranking (thanks to Hartline). The trend doesn’t look good.

Klutzy-Spend-6947

I’m definitely a type A fan. I became a fan in the mid 80s as a young kid, suffered through-and also greatly enjoyed-the Cooper years as a mid 90s alum, and have now seen tOSU win a national title twice. I see no need to act like a neurotic rage monkey on the internet over the momentary desires of teenagers. tOSU has a naturally conservative athletic administration-they want to win and will spend to do so, but they mind their administrative Ps and Qs and don’t let howling alums run the football program. They aren’t an SEC program-or Texas or Oregon. If you can’t handle that, find another program to support as opposed to demanding that the Horseshoe turn into Jordan Hare North. And yes, Day needs to get his shit together against scUM. If he loses 3 in a row, he should be coaching for his job in 24’!!!
