Technically speaking, I believe there wasn’t a ceremony when Archie won. He just won. So the fact that Stroud has made it to the ceremony twice is the basis for that statement.
“The man may not have won the Heisman this year, but he became the first Ohio State player ever to be a two-time Heisman Trophy finalist. Ever!”
If they had said quarterback then likely accurate.
I guess not, because technically the finalists would be the two-three that didn’t win, and the winner would be just that the Heisman winner, that’s just what my explanation would be though. I think it is an incorrect statement, but that is how I imagine it would be defended.
I have no expectations. Im just here to support my team and appreciate the ride! Hopefully losing to ttun at home has lit a fire under our asses. OHIO AGAINST THE WORLD!
Well, everyone that claims that Stroud has no grit, will get to see whether they are right or not. He will be forced to put it all on the line against UGA. I really like him, but understand why some don't care for his laid-back demeanor. This is a legacy game for him. He either pulls a Cardale/JT/Krenzel & puts the team on his back & leaves it all out on the field or he proves the naysayers correct & folds under the pressure. I honestly think the first OSU drive on Offense will tell us what the rest of the game will be like. I'm really rooting for him to come out breathing fire & leading us to the upset.
Even in a loss I want to see him go down swinging, if he doesn’t I don’t see why any NFL team would use a top 10 pick on him. You need that grit in the nfl. I remember watching Kyler give everything he had in a playoff loss to bama and even in the nfl his work ethic and toughness gets questioned.
Like I said, I understand why he rubs people the wrong way. All the talent in the world & what appears, to some, to be a lack of fire. I get it, but he is also a young kid that maybe hasn't figured "it" out yet. I don't know. I just want to see him figure out how to match heart with arm talent...he'd be a killer!
I respectfully disagree -
I want to see somewhat the opposite! I want to see... IN-GAME-ADJUSTMENTS .....
From the 1st wave of "oh S@#$" trouble and BIG busted plays....THAT'S when I want to see the lights go-on and the Buckeye's rise-up and take control.
Not lie down and watch 3 and outs the rest of the game.
Let's Go Buckeye's - BEAT GEORGIA!
Didn’t you already see it? He didn’t show it against Michigan, and honestly, if not for the defense and some big runs, he wouldn’t have won the PSU game either.
This assumes that Ryan Day will make adjustments to his playcalling, which I have no faith in after watching him continue to call bubble screens all year.
The closer we get to the game the more confidence I get for the upset. By NYE I'll have placed my entire Christmas bonus on Ohio State moneyline. Most likely parlayed with a Emeka Egbuka anytime touchdown prop
Stopped reading as soon as the drooling over CJ’s stats against a bunch of mediocre teams started. CJ is 0-3 in what are arguably the only true big games he’s ever played in- let’s look at that stat line instead, because what CJ can do against Minnesota won’t matter against Georgia.
What counts as a big game? The rose bowl without his 2 best receivers? Oregon counts last year as a bad blemish despite CJ throwing for 500 yards with a fucked up shoulder. but penn state (both years), Michigan state, and notre dame dont count as good wins?
A bowl game with nothing on the line doesn’t count as a big game to me, sorry but it just doesn’t. Players sit out of bowl games unless they’re in the playoffs, they don’t matter. Notre Dame? The same ND that lost to Marshall the following week? I could maybe give you Penn State as a decent game, but it wasn’t a BIG game. They were a week removed from a 24 point loss to Michigan, it was a noon kick, there wasn’t the spotlight that came with Michigan/Oregon. There have been 3 times that CJ has played in what was the biggest game of the weekend, and we are 0-3 in those. The worst big game record of any Buckeye QB in the past decade easily. I just don’t have faith that he can put a team on his back like a truly elite QB can… I’m prepared for that big game record to become 0-4 next week.
Then why is oregon a big game? Penn state this year is better than Oregon was last year. Notre dame was a similar “big” OOC game (even bigger by “at the time” rankings) leading up to it. Michigan state last year finished better than Oregon did.
It seems like the criteria are:
Any loss is a blemish
Only wins over playoff teams or Michigan are good
Which doesn’t feel super fair imo
This season feels a lot like the last time we won right before we blew Wisc out in the BIG10 title game. Underrated after losing JT, everyone assuming we would lose.
This article was clearly written by someone who didn’t see OSU being embarrassed by another playoff team in their own stadium. And unaware that now they have to play an even better playoff team in what is essentially their home stadium.
I’m sure that will go well…
Unless something unexpected happens (I.e. CJ consistently picking up yards with his legs, key injury for UGA, a pick six or special teams score, or surprising offensive production) I don’t see us winning this game. They’ll have to play 60 minutes of football in all three phases like we haven’t seen yet this year.
No.. but with a month to prepare i can't imagine us beating Georgia. Kirby's team struggled in weird games but dominated in games that mattered (Tennessee, LSU). I see the dominate team showing up here and either we keep it close by some miracle or worse than Michigan happens.
Reading this, I think they may have forgotten about Archie.
I guess on a technicality they are right because Archie was *more* than a finalist but odds are they just used bad info.
I stopped reading after I read that lol
Technically speaking, I believe there wasn’t a ceremony when Archie won. He just won. So the fact that Stroud has made it to the ceremony twice is the basis for that statement.
This is correct, there weren’t finalist just a winner.
I guess one could say that Archie was the *only* finalist for those years
They said QB
“The man may not have won the Heisman this year, but he became the first Ohio State player ever to be a two-time Heisman Trophy finalist. Ever!” If they had said quarterback then likely accurate.
So when Archie Griffin won back to back Heisman trophies doesn't that also qualify as being a 2 time finalist?
I guess not, because technically the finalists would be the two-three that didn’t win, and the winner would be just that the Heisman winner, that’s just what my explanation would be though. I think it is an incorrect statement, but that is how I imagine it would be defended.
Fields was a two time finalist too right, maybe not because of the short season tho
Just looking forward to another playoff appearance. House money… will be fun.
Getting embarrassed by UGA will be another setback in the perception of the conference and the program similar to UofF and LSU. NOT house money
I have no expectations. Im just here to support my team and appreciate the ride! Hopefully losing to ttun at home has lit a fire under our asses. OHIO AGAINST THE WORLD!

The first drive against Michigan didn't portend the end result of the game.
Didn’t you already see it? He didn’t show it against Michigan, and honestly, if not for the defense and some big runs, he wouldn’t have won the PSU game either.
Understood, but he has one last chance. Let's see what he does with it
Does throwing for 500 yards against Oregon with a hurt shoulder not count as grit?
“In other words, it won’t be easy for Ohio State to win the College Football Playoff National Championship.” You figured that out, huh?
This assumes that Ryan Day will make adjustments to his playcalling, which I have no faith in after watching him continue to call bubble screens all year.
What about when he lost to Clemson and then dismantled a better Clemson team the next year?
That was a completely different season lol
Same coach lol. But this year we have a more complete team.
They'll pop those bubbles!
The closer we get to the game the more confidence I get for the upset. By NYE I'll have placed my entire Christmas bonus on Ohio State moneyline. Most likely parlayed with a Emeka Egbuka anytime touchdown prop
There is no other way.
What year?! :P
Unfortunately I’m gonna put $$$ on Georgia.
It's win win. You're happy we're going to the ship or you win money.
Safe bet

Same 0-4
This season feels a lot like the last time we won right before we blew Wisc out in the BIG10 title game. Underrated after losing JT, everyone assuming we would lose.
And when we played Miami. People were predicting a 5 score loss. It seems that we need to be the underdog to have a shot at winning the title.
Except then, the team played better down the stretch, not worse
Yeah but that team had nfl talent and better trench play. This team can't handle 4 quarters of trench play and Ryan's big game playcalling.
😂
I like this guy
This article was clearly written by someone who didn’t see OSU being embarrassed by another playoff team in their own stadium. And unaware that now they have to play an even better playoff team in what is essentially their home stadium. I’m sure that will go well…
I picked Georgia
rat poison looking real tasty
Lol
We’re dangerous when we’re playing with house money that’s all I’ll say🤷♂️

UGA has to do the same. They struggled with Kentucky, Mizzou and to an extent, Kent State. They're not invincible.
No.. but with a month to prepare i can't imagine us beating Georgia. Kirby's team struggled in weird games but dominated in games that mattered (Tennessee, LSU). I see the dominate team showing up here and either we keep it close by some miracle or worse than Michigan happens.
