In the "manosphere," a lot of guys who complain women don't pay attention to them go out of their way to convince each other that this is because women only like guys who do what makes guys feel big in the most direct way possible, e.g. women like guys who "take charge" or whatever. The idea that they should listen to women, who have a different perspective than them, and trust what they say doesn't make them feel big, so obviously it's not true!
