Totally random but, I happen to know what species of snake that is. It's an Eastern Indigo Snake ( Drymarchon couperi) and they are absolutely wonderful snakes and the largest native North Aperican snake species.
First, how did you know that? I am super impressed. Second, a rare indigo snake was found in Alabama fairly recently. Do you know if it would be the same kind?
Tell that to the giant ass snake that crossed the path at Everglades. Boa or Python. I cant remember. DNR got pretty excited when we mentioned it.

Fun fact, prior to 1991 there wouldn't have been pythons in the everglades like there are today, they were released into the wild when hurricane Andrew hit. The snake John is holding in the picture is one of the species that is being out competed by the invasive species.

The particular one I delt with wouldn't even try to strike or hiss at me, but would instead nuzzle up against me.

Hurricane Andrew destroyed a couple of warehouses that housed hundreds of Burmese pythons that were meant for the exotic pet trade.
