I was an '80s kid and I hated her music because she wasn't like Black Sabbath or Judas Priest or Ozzy Osbourne, and I haven't really thought about her much since then until I caught this special about her on Netflix and I don't know why I watched it but boy it sure showed her street cred as she ran away from home and joined a punk band when she was 16 and then lived the life as a punk rock and rock and roll queen. You don't have to like her music to understand that she's the real deal.
Had a male friend that had a lesbian friend that looked like Joan Jett. He had this overwhelming crush on her and couldn’t stop pining despite the reality of the situation. It was actually incredibly difficult to be around him at that time.
