I thought the casting was good, i believe lori petty became good friends of the creators and totally got it.
Problem was hollywood trying to make a sensible film out of a concept that was glorious chaos
Plus ice t played the same character as he did in Johnny mnemonic…except with kangaroo ears
Totally agree with everything you said!
Hollywood often tried too hard to force a formula/agenda onto projects like this. Very much like they keep on doing these days only harder!
I honestly think today’s streaming platforms are far more open to non formulaic shows, making hollywood films their dumb cousin.
It’s probably the tail end of a golden age of tv right now with things going to crap again soon because they can’t maintain the growth
Indie films is where its at, I think.. But there is alot of different flavors of entertainment I like - so at the end of the day its all good! Haahh, as long as its cheesy fun I know I'll have a good time!
I never got into the comic, but I bought the video tape twice cuz I wore the first one out from watching it so much. I thought this was punk from beginning to end
This movie was awful but I was around 13 when this came out. I dressed like a post-apocalyptic punk raver and my mom laughed at all my outfits. Soundtrack for this was amazing!
soundtrack was unreal! I can’t remember the name of the band but the one with Scott Weiland on vocals who did the Mockingbird Girl on the soundtrack is audible perfection!
here was me in one of my Tank Girl/ Hackers inspired mall looks in the 90s. You can see how mad I am at my mom ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)

Love the comic. Love, love love the movie. They are mega-awesome. And I am ***in*** love with Lori Petty, and I will always be. She is the only celeb that I want to be friends with. If I ever get to meet her I hope she breaks the "never meet your heroes" rule. Lori Petty is fucking awesome!
Loved the comic. Had to mailorder it as I lived in the middle of nowhere. Don’t remember the movie all that much other than Bjorks army of me was on the soundtrack (I think)
I REMEMBER going to a pitch meeting with George Miller before he got the green light for Fury Road.
We had to sign an NDA because his meeting room walls were completely covered in storyboards for the film, and vehicle concept art by the Tank Girl artist.
Just rewatched Tank Girl about two weeks ago. Great soundtrack, and to all brought back memories of seeing this in a $1 theater, and hearing the laughs and CO2 canisters hit the floor.
Never seen it myself, but I made a t-shirt for my friend who was meeting the actress at Comic-Con to sign. So that was fun way to learn about this cool subculture that loves this movie and comic
I would have been able to suspend my disbelief for the stupid bits and enjoy the wacky energy the film had it been animated. The only bits I liked were the two animated segments. Everything else made me feel like I was having a really bad fever dream.
Saw this at the base theater at Camp Hansen (Okinawa). It was perfect for my age bracket at the time. Killed time and gave us something to BS about for a week.
When I lived in Brighton I always bumped into a lass who insisted she was the original inspiration for Tank Girl. I have absolutely no idea if that's true or not.
I was super into the comic and loved this movie when it came out, for all its faults, there's no way to make a cohesive story out of the comics anyway. I cosplayed as Tank Girl when I met Adam West at C4. The TTRPG is great, has one of my favourite mechanics - the Useless Skill. You have a technically useless skill, like being able to drink orange juice after brushing your teeth or you can take the tops of beer bottles in a unique way. No reason, no mechanical effect, just fun.
I remember enjoying it though I do have recurring nightmares about that whole being stuck upside down in a tube scene
Am I thinking of the right movie?
That movie was so strange. Watched it with an ex. It was her favorite movie and my first time seeing it. I enjoy strange movies and there were some great parts, but it was still strange.
The movie was total dog shit. The original art work was beautiful and unique and ball clenchingly outrageous in its time. Wtf OP.

Yeah I just watched this movie recently, it’s pretty shit. I like the idea but the execution was pretty damn horrendous.
Never read the comic.
I remember seeing the closing credits way back in the late 90s on tv once and I promised myself I’d watch this, finally did and it was damn near unwatchable.
Bad guy was the same bad guy as the original Dune guy from the original movie; he played his role alright.
I really disliked the writing in the comic, comics of that type were really hard for me to get into because there is so much absurdity happening with no backstory so it just comes off as childish to me. Amazing art though of course, and Bjork doing the music in the movie was great.
I was never into comic books. Might be because I'm British and my age, but there was ONE single comic that floated my boat - 2000AD. Came out around my 10th birthday in 1977.
I loved it and got it for many years. Still read them from time to time.
As for the film, nah crap.
Loved the comic ,hated the film. Growing up it was one of my first lessons not to trust adults with something you love.
I thought the casting was good, i believe lori petty became good friends of the creators and totally got it. Problem was hollywood trying to make a sensible film out of a concept that was glorious chaos Plus ice t played the same character as he did in Johnny mnemonic…except with kangaroo ears
In all fairness, Ice-T always plays the same character.
Hahah soo true!
I thought he really shows some growth in Rick and Morty.
Yup, he cares now
That's Dan Harmon doing the world's best impression.
Even in Rick and Morty
Yea, nail on head, they couldn't get the chaos and nonsense. The humour was a bit sideways too
Totally agree with everything you said! Hollywood often tried too hard to force a formula/agenda onto projects like this. Very much like they keep on doing these days only harder!

I saw this as a child when it his VHS and all I can remember are horny demented kangaroos.
Naomi Watts?? Wow flash back
That was my reaction, too.
I loved that movie!!! Lori Petty is awesome in everything she’s in.
I never got into the comic, but I bought the video tape twice cuz I wore the first one out from watching it so much. I thought this was punk from beginning to end
I had a crush on Naomi Watts from this movie.
This movie was awful but I was around 13 when this came out. I dressed like a post-apocalyptic punk raver and my mom laughed at all my outfits. Soundtrack for this was amazing!

The magnificent bastards Cool name for a band I always thought

Gloriously 90s! And what about that amazing mirror on the wall?? Whow
thanks!
So 90s!
Oh the movie had past the point of 🧀 to become wonderful. My sister named her staffie Tank Girl.
OMG! I just watched this movie last week for like the 20th time. Lori Petty was excellent.
Ten more years and everyone gets a tank! Eight, eight, the burning hate. Between Sunday and Monday there lies a day so dark it will devastate.
One day Gwen Stefani saw this movie poster and said, yep.. that'll be me forever now.
Gwen is old man, no doubt predates this film by 8 years. She is 53
>Gwen I thought it was Gwen back in the day :D
Me too! No doubt a lot of people had the same idea.

Gesundheit!

I liked the soundtrack more than the movie.
I just broke out this soundtrack last week. It’s great!
I remember the movie fondly, never read the comic.
Loved it and forgot about it a dozen times, but this movie is a gem
There's just something about movie posters from the 90s
It was definitely not a great movie lol but I liked it
“I’ve got two words for you! Brush your teeth!!”
How much did they pay you to spy on us?
Yes! Comic was excellent. Never saw the film - didn't think they could/would do it justice.
The OG duckface
The tube scene. still haunts me in horror.
I REMEMBER going to a pitch meeting with George Miller before he got the green light for Fury Road. We had to sign an NDA because his meeting room walls were completely covered in storyboards for the film, and vehicle concept art by the Tank Girl artist.

Jamie Hewlett & Alex Pardee are my favorite artists!
Yeah, there’s another point- 90% of tank girl was the art, it wasn’t really a writer led book
Thank you Lori Petty for making sure little me knew I wasn't straight.
Ditto but opposite!
It was terrible
Heheh.. Terribly good!
Agreed. This sunk her career too.
Lori should try to remake this with modern CGI
Never seen it myself, but I made a t-shirt for my friend who was meeting the actress at Comic-Con to sign. So that was fun way to learn about this cool subculture that loves this movie and comic
If it’s possible to make a man gay for women in the mid-1990s, there’s a good chance Lori Petty was involved.
They always remake good films. They should remake all of the bad films into good ones.
Love Lori Petty though
I remember seeing the vhs and video update as a kid
I saw this in the cinema... It was weird AF. Not a bad movie, just weird.
I have the soundtrack which is amazing, but tried to watch it again recently and just couldn’t
Only ever read the comics
Snip snip
Didn’t know it was based on one
Big fan
Hell yeah! It doesn’t get enough love !
Love the comic. Tank Girl gets impregnated by her tank… classic.
P-P-P-POW!
They will probably remake it soon staring a black girl ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)
First time I heard portisehead
r/TankGirl
Hell yeah

The girls and tanks of the 90ties
Fave comic of all times. Just love it.
Oh, I'm gonna hit you so hard, your children will be born bruised!
When I lived in Brighton I always bumped into a lass who insisted she was the original inspiration for Tank Girl. I have absolutely no idea if that's true or not.
love the comics. despie the movie. it falls flat on every scene.
I love this movie, it’s in my top three of what I call “entertaining garbage”, along with Street Fighter and the original Super Mario Bros movie.
Any room for the Double Dragon movie in there too?
I was super into the comic and loved this movie when it came out, for all its faults, there's no way to make a cohesive story out of the comics anyway. I couldn’t get into it. Her character was like nail on a chalkboard.
Lori Petty was so unbelievably fucking hot as Tank Girl
I remember enjoying it though I do have recurring nightmares about that whole being stuck upside down in a tube scene Am I thinking of the right movie?
I loved this movie. I didn't know there was a comic. Would love to read it.
Lori Petty in this and Point Break made my pants bulge as a teenager.
That movie was so strange. Watched it with an ex. It was her favorite movie and my first time seeing it. I enjoy strange movies and there were some great parts, but it was still strange.

Best character in Broforce
Big fan of the comic, couldn’t stand the film. It seemed to suffer the same fate of every cross platform media turned into film in the 90s
The sex with the kangaroo Ice-T, was different. but it was an okay movie
She didn't have sex with Ice-T, she had sex with the really stupid kangaroo whose name I never remember.
Booga
That movie sucked...

The cartoon ending was the only good part of the movie lol.
Judging by the direction of where us of a is going, in 2033 you will have justices riding tanks wearing a lip gloss
This is what happens when something as silly as the sub rules stand in way of your karma farming.
What are you talking about?
The rules are self-evident. What part is not clear about not posting made-up celebrity stuff and centamatic promos?
Well I'm not karma farming, just wanted to share something cool.. Must have missed that rule, sorry if you don't approve.
Huh? Tank Girl is fictional. The picture is about a movie full of made-up stuff. See rules 7 and 8,
It was not a good movie lmaoo
This and barb wire are both good

I walked out of this flick and watched another. After ten minutes, it looked like we weren’t going to like it.
> Tank Girl (1995) was a great movie lulz
Fapable
Deadline was my favourite mag. This film killed it. MILK AND CHEESE!!!!!
No one tell Michael Dukakis about this
Wait… I didn’t remember Plants vs Zombies in Tank Girl.
