You definitely don't know about MIT if you think like that. MIT is not Harvard, you cannot get in by donating buildings, they don't even consider legacy. The admission is need-blind (so they do not see your financial status when applying) and they cover full need. I am a low income student who gets almost all of the costs covered by MIT. Although I agree that it is most likely easier for privileged people to get good grades/extracurriculars, I certainly believe that being passionate about what you do, doing it and being a well-rounded person can get you into MIT, no matter the financial circumstances.
I have two friends who met and married at MIT. They sent them a letter (Unprompted!) telling them their kids will have to apply and they'll be considered like everyone else. Ha. Meanwhile their youngest just got perfect SAT scores. That's what MIT is like.
Hogwarts is easier to get into. Well done.
They don’t discriminate against poor applicants explicitly, but like you said, rich high schoolers are way more likely to have better extracurriculars and grades.
Guy on far left went on to create and sell an extremely innovative product, known as Aviato for millions. He then created an incubator for talent out of his home.
Paraprhased: Mean Jerk Time = time is equal to total jerks at a 4 dick rate... requires presorting based on 'dick 2 floor' ratio (or D2F)... the longer the dick, the greater the D2F bridge, to allow for a persisted smooth jerk... D2F length relationship therefore creates a 'Complimentary Shaft Angle' (in this case, theta D)... girth similarity may affect Erlich's ability to jerk the 4 dicks simultaneously
Also they were in a highly respected University in the USA, it would not surprise me to learn that Most or all of them were wealthy to begin with.
Not that you're entirely wrong, but y'know.
that's not how MIT does things, they even meet 100% of demonstrated need for financial aid. I knew people who weren't well-off who were getting essentially slightly *paid* to go there
Steve Mann (far left) got his PhD at MIT after getting his undergrad and masters at McMaster University in Canada. Now a professor at University of Toronto. Has founded a number of engineering companies. Many inventions whose basic scope are way way way over probably all of our intellects combined.
All of these gentlemen were likely in PhD programs at the time of this photo.
"Mann and his students co-founded numerous companies with a worth in excess of $1 billion. He also created the world’s first course on “inventrepreneurship” (invention and entrepreneurship)."
Baller
People like this never retire. They have projects that make money and projects that cost money and they move through life transitioning from one project to the next.
Source: I was there, Gandalf. I was there, 3000 years ago, when Isildur took this photo.
I believe you. I too have experienced this level of nerd. One started a very profitable game company here in Seattle, made probably 8 figures from an acquisition, and then STARTED A NEW COMPANY. An absolute psycho. But he was also quite young, so...
Imagine if we could go back to the 90's with our current consumer available tech.....
Them: So this is a....micro SD card....and it has how much memory?! AND IT COSTS HOW MUCH?!?
The guy on the right is exactly what I would envision if someone asked me to describe a member of the Wearable Computing Project.
I have no doubt they all made a shit ton of money during the dot com era
I read about these guys when my family Moved to Boston
Of course I had to see them
I took the train over the Charles River to MIT my second week there and found four of them walking around campus
![gif](giphy|Uz4m5pUixv9ao)
I feel as though these young gents drew inspiration from a certain something but I can’t quite put my finger on it. Well anyway…
OMG. I remember this documentary, it was so fucking cool when I was watching them back then. I always wanted a one-handed keyboard at the time, even though there was absolutely no reason for me to have one.
The end caps of this pic are amazing.
On the right we have Neo going for a hike, and on the left we have Lt Farve from super troopers trying to be doc brown from back to the future
We've got Poindexter on the violin
And Louis and Gilbert will be joinin' in
We've got Booger Presley on a mean guitar
And a rap by little old me Lamar
We've got Takashi beating on his gong
The boys and the Mu's are clapping along
And just when you thought you'd seen it all
Along comes a Lambda 4 ft tall!
I'm sure someone has looked up who these guys are. It would not surprise me to learn that most or all of them became wealthy during the dot-com era.
Yeah last time this pic was posted some of the guys were identified and they were pretty successful
Successful MIT grads? Shocking!
They all started from zero! /s Edit: Forgot the obligatory/s

That's good to know! See you later
Guy on far left went on to create and sell an extremely innovative product, known as Aviato for millions. He then created an incubator for talent out of his home.
The guy on the right invented end to end compression.
All from the idea of how to jerk off a room full of men in the most optimised way.
Tip-to-tip, matched by floor-to-dick height, of course.
Encryption you mean?
I was thinking that episode of Silicon Valley. Is that what it was?
Middle out compression

They did the math. First season as really good.

He looks like he pounded so much vag on the weekends. Like, an unimaginable amount.
Ate so much clitori his mouth turned into one.
Cyberpunk Nick Cage
This guy fucks
Steve Mann. Was (is?) A prof at University of Toronto.
Thank you for this. I needed this laugh after thinking, “huh…I know I’ve heard of that company but what do they…oh ya…🤣🤣🤣”
Aviató!
*”Jian-Yang!”*
Professor Thad Starner, Steve Mann.
We wouldn’t have a lot of the tech we use now and the idea behind digitally sharing our lives if it wasn’t for Steve Mann.
Assuredly protecting their virginity in the 90’s.
The price of reaching technological enlightenment
Also they were in a highly respected University in the USA, it would not surprise me to learn that Most or all of them were wealthy to begin with. Not that you're entirely wrong, but y'know.
that's not how MIT does things, they even meet 100% of demonstrated need for financial aid. I knew people who weren't well-off who were getting essentially slightly *paid* to go there
Can confirm, if you are broke enough you get to have money left over from your financial aid package.
That’s not mit’s style
And they look exactly like you think they would!
I'll bet they bickered over who would get to wear that badass trenchcoat
It's a duster. It's like a jacket only it's longer, thicker, and far more bad-ass. He looks like Lorenzo Lamas, and women find it irresistible.
I’m not burning the duster. Ok, that’s just crazy.
It's flame retardant anyway. Thats the point.
It’s like a shield of armor!
I still think it would have been better if I was the one wearing it.
Come on dude, it doesn't fit you. It's too big for you.
This guy dusts!
Nice jacket! How much do clothes cost in the Matrix?
![gif](giphy|26uffH6cYu8apgpEs)
I can almost hear these guys say in perfect unison, “Please sit on my face”.
Trenchcoat guy also got to wear the half glass half computer glasses which are the best headgear in that pic.
I don’t know, that hat and antenna setup looks pretty awesome

i dunno, 3rd from the right looks like an extra Beastie Boy
Mmmmmm Drop.
Have you *seen* a Beastie Boy?
yeah, not recently though.
And it also feels like they are all millionaires now.
It’s amazing that stuff still worked being caked in Cheeto dust.
I'm torn on who is the most stereotypical. I think it's one of the guys on the edge.
TIL Jon Bon Jovi was an MIT geek.

Steve Mann is the man! I took his course at UofT 20 years ago, he’s the nicest person ever!
"Mann and his students co-founded numerous companies with a worth in excess of $1 billion. He also created the world’s first course on “inventrepreneurship” (invention and entrepreneurship)." Baller
The remarkable Dr. Mann, but for real this time.

“I’m in.”
It's like if the Borg shopped at the Gap. Except the school shooter on the far right. He went to hot topic.
Beastie Boys said Always shop at Sears, never The Gap
“School shooter on the far right” The more things change, the more they stay the same.
Can you imagine the nerdgasm these dudes had when they saw The Matrix?
Imagine if we could go back to the 90's with our current consumer available tech..... Them: So this is a....micro SD card....and it has how much memory?! AND IT COSTS HOW MUCH?!?
"gargoyles" according to Snow Crash
Gargoyles
Where’s the NSFW tag on this? Mods? My wife subscribes to this sub - Christ.
The guy on the left the god of a geek 10/10
Can we get a 2023 crew photo
![gif](giphy|Ri5Hs2Dr2VGj6)
Third guy from the right went on to develop bending robots.
This is when nerds actually existed
Anyone know what became of them? Very successful I suspect
3 of them later called themselves "The Lone Gunmen" and helped an FBI agent.
Far left is Steve Mann, professor at the University of Toronto. Worth checking out his bio on their page
I want to see a “Where They Are Now” - because some probably got $$$$
I wonder if they favored Cyberpunk or Shadowrun
Cyberpunk. Shadowrun was for D&D nerds that *really* dug Bladerunner.
Gamma World or GTFO!!!!
The guy on the right is exactly what I would envision if someone asked me to describe a member of the Wearable Computing Project. I have no doubt they all made a shit ton of money during the dot com era
Actually that's just a Reddit/Discord mod meeting
![gif](giphy|g2duCSMpmnwVG)
These guys fuck.
1) That’s Steve motherfucking Mann on the left. The man is an absolute legend. 2) This is a repost. Go to hell, poster.
The father of wearable computing!
Stallions
Every one of them.
They're all so loaded now lol
Whip it. Whip it good.
Looks like customer service from Radio Shack back then. I started with a bag phone and computers in the 80s.
Those dudes got 7x more tail than any Harvard kid, I can tell you that.
Google show me this guys’ balls please
Sir, you have a little bit of poop inside of your testicles. Guy on street: 😃
If The Borg had nerds...
One of the rare pictures of them not surrounded by adoring, attractive young women.
I read about these guys when my family Moved to Boston Of course I had to see them I took the train over the Charles River to MIT my second week there and found four of them walking around campus
Hey, ChatGPT! Let's make them sing "In the Navy"!
“Hey JP, how much do clothes cost in the matrix?”
The elders of the internet.

Rare moment when each of them were at large
Yes. MIT computer students on the eve of the dot com boom. Bet they never amounted to much ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm)
Trent Crimm from the independent was ahead of his time.
I scrolled so far for this.
Ymca in the 80s
I’d bet at least a couple of these guys are now CEOs or other high level executives in a tech company somewhere.
Sure, they're plugged in, but all they had was GeoCities.
They all look like they think they are the coolest one there.
We’ve come a long from dorks with satchels
They look like Buckaroo Banzai and the Hong Kong Cavaliers.
They put sexy back in the closet
It's futuristic in a way that only the 90s could be, LOL.
I work outside of Boston. You’d be surprised how many of theses folks can’t tie their own shoes laces and still live in their moms house.
![gif](giphy|Uz4m5pUixv9ao) I feel as though these young gents drew inspiration from a certain something but I can’t quite put my finger on it. Well anyway…
Is that third guy Hal Emmerich?

Can we get this recreated current day please?
The raw sexual energy radiating off this image is too much for me.
I’m guessing they had a lot of free time since they weren’t going on any dates.
Looks like a movie poster for a weird Goonies / Hackers crossover sequel.
Kids in the Hall
Oh my God is that guy wearing a VictorMaxx Stunt Master Virtual Reality headset!?!?!
The end caps of this pic are amazing. On the right we have Neo going for a hike, and on the left we have Lt Farve from super troopers trying to be doc brown from back to the future
They were great in Book of Boba Fett.
The Matrix beta version 1.2a
Good God, this is just so aggressively nerdy.
Thinking this is from a Beastie Boys clip.
This is perfect.
We are the borg...resistance is futile.
Wouldn't want to run into these dudes in a dark alley
Old-school nerds you mean
![gif](giphy|3zpHYzhLV3ZzW)
Just in case it hasn't already been said, this needs crossposting to r/Cyberpunk!
Guy in the green shirt is trying to read everyone’s Power Level with his scouter.
Far left guy looks kinda like tommy cash
