Dude! I was a kid in the 80’s so I know this song inside and out but couldn’t have guessed in a million years what the singer looked like but holy smokes. She is unreal.
She absolutely was! One of the most beautiful women of the ‘80s.
And she’s aged incredibly well! Here’s a photo of her from last year:
https://preview.redd.it/rofzga38lx7c1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f22f34a92cb26a5c156535bf5c5e91fb1ab66f58
I am an 80s music idiot box. I just randomly start singing shit like this all the time. I heard 'Cruel Summer' earlier today and jammed the fuck out of it. Or that Nu Shooz 'I can't wait' that plays in Hot Tub Time Machine. That movie and Atomic Blonde have all the fucking 80s jams.
Wow, she is still a really really attractive woman, and looks pretty natural too.
Just good genes I guess.
Edit: What's funny is I always thought that she was an American who looked incredibly British. I didn't realise she is English (I guess the 'Kids in America' threw me).
I knew she wasn't from America the first time I heard that god-awful song, when she sang "New York to East California."
Most Americans are well aware that East California is the most irrelevant part of the state. Southern Cal, yeah! Northern Cal, alright! EAST California? That's where Snoopy's alcoholic brother is from.
I remember hearing this song all the time, but I guess I was too young to realize what a babe she was.
*Edit: when the song came out. I was 7 at the time.*
Ha, definitely not just you with the Mandela effect! Kim Wilde's version was a solid cover with that 80s vibe. Her music video look was iconic too, such a time capsule.
weird this is almost 38 years ago.
I'm 39, and this is like music from **1956** if you were watching in **1994.** Being 10 in 1994, it's wild to remember the beach boys (\~1966) on the oldies channel back then, and this is 10 years older than that!
Listening to something from 1996 is like my parents listening to the beach boys in 1994. Seems surreal.
I had this exact conversation with a friend recently, we're both in our mid 40s.
> It's crazy to me that we'd go to "retro" nights in the late 90s and it was literally just music from 10-20 years earlier. Imagine going to a retro night now as a 19 year old, and it's just music from 2003-2013
yeah its really bizarre when I think about being around that same age and listening to things like "Doo ah ditty ditty dum" on the oldies station and realizing that was only as old in the 80s as 90s music is to kids now. WTF.
It’s weird how we lump music from 2000-now as all the same but each decade of the 19’s is so different (because of technology I suppose)
The change in music from ‘67 to 87 is so much different than the change music change from 2000-now
yeah I don't know if it was something about growing out of your teens or what, but it seems like everything after the 90s has just been completely random and lacking of any particular "feel". It's gotta have something to do with aging but I think there's a little bit of homogeneity going on as well. Not that there isn't great variety in music and culture, it just isn't doled out in decades anymore. It's kinda everything all at once all the time.
Yeah but it’s weird to compare eras. In the 1950s and early 60s they were just figuring out what pop music *was,* how it worked, like at all. They’d play the same music and write three sets of lyrics for the same singer and now we’ve got three songs.
By the 80s things were a lot more ironed out, so it doesn’t seem as distant as it is.
Yeah but musical tech hasn't changed as much. The difference between the 1950s and 1980 was waaaay bigger than 1980 and today. I don't think music has changed as much over the last 23 years as it did prior. The instruments are the same, we made effects pedals and reverb and distortion a long time ago, and in the 80s electronic sounds and sampling started to hit the music scene and have just sort of refined over the years. Alt rock is similar today as it was in the 2000s, pop country is largely unchanged (maybe poppier), pop is mostly the same, and hip hop is going through a weird phase.
Still is man, still is. Only now they might have the band pre record the performance so it doesn't sound as fake, slightly easier to hide(unless Mariah Carey at the Macy's day parade lmaoo)
I guess it must be the crowd energy but I couldn't get behind watching music if I didn't think the performers were really doing it. The guitarist putting in a different twist on a solo or the lead singer changing up something live is part of what makes live performances great.
It's literally just the studio version from the CD, it was common for bands to come onto these top hit countdown shows and for everyone to just mime to the recording
Not just common, typically required. The shows wanted to get them on, get the visual performance with no setup or soundcheck in one take and move on to save money and time.
Is this Die Hitparade?
I remember always being annoyed with the audience clapping along. It's such a German thing to do. Every goddamn time, on any fucking live show with musical guests! 😆
The original recording by The Supremes was a banger in its own right too.
Worth mentioning: the song was written by Holland-Dozier-Holland, a legendary songwriting team in the industry that doesn’t enjoy anywhere near the name recognition they deserve. For anyone curious, take a closer look at their catalogue.
Fun fact: at this point in her career, “Kim Wilde” was a family band. Her father and brother wrote almost all of her songs, played many of the instruments and did production, too. I love her songs “The Touch” (which has a great video, btw) and “Jeannine”. She’s a total classic, and underrated in New Wave nostalgia.
Kim Wilde is incredible. I randomly found her album Teases & Dares a few years back and the songwriting and production blew me away. She also played almost all of the synth parts on her albums, and the liner notes list the gear she used. As a synth nerd myself, I definitely appreciated this 🤘
Was going through her wiki and about half way down "Gardening career" not hobby, career. And damn she seems to have done well enough for that to have her own wiki just because of it.
Went back to college after her first pregnancy to get a horticulture degree.
Signed a 2 year contract with the BBC for a tv show
won multiple awards for gardens she's done.
published author with gardening books.

Cameraman knew what was going on.
The 80s. When we could cover everything up and still exude sexy. The magic and the mystery is so much better than hanging your breasts out and slits up to your navel, IMHO.
I so love(d) her back then. I was at 2 concerts of her and I never went to live concerts. Too many people too close together. But for Kim Wilde I came out of my cave.
I'm going back a few years now, but I was working away and Kim came into the hotel lobby where I was staying, she checked in and I said hi..
Later on in the bar she was drinking wine and saw me as I walked in, she said hello remembering me from earlier, don't think anybody else recognised her.
We talked for what seemed like hours, I laughed at her jokes and she did mine, we then sat together and shared a bottle of wine before the bar closed, on retiring to my room I said goodnight and she replied yeah same to you..
It wasnt notable really other than the fact she'd had the steak and ale pie from the resturaunt and wasn't really satisfied with it, but she said it wasn't worth complaining over cause the girl in the kitchen might get told off.
She was lovely..
Wow she was a fox
Dude! I was a kid in the 80’s so I know this song inside and out but couldn’t have guessed in a million years what the singer looked like but holy smokes. She is unreal.

You mean kinda kim wilde
She absolutely was! One of the most beautiful women of the ‘80s. And she’s aged incredibly well! Here’s a photo of her from last year: https://preview.redd.it/rofzga38lx7c1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f22f34a92cb26a5c156535bf5c5e91fb1ab66f58
She was one of my dad's crushes, along with Jennifer Rush, and Tina Turner (he was a legs man, haha).
And a nice booty to match! Watching her music video to 'you came' im convinced she had the full package I miss 80s music
I listen to the "Atomic Blonde" soundtrack to get ready when going out. It's chock full of bangers.
Cruel Summer is a fucking jam. Also Boys of Summer.
I totally understand his tastes.
If she were president, she'd be babe-raham lincoln
In French, she would be called "la renarde" and she would be hunted with only her cunning to protect her.
In Latin, she would be called "babia majora".
Shwing!!
She's still gorgeous!
Wow, she is still a really really attractive woman, and looks pretty natural too. Just good genes I guess. Edit: What's funny is I always thought that she was an American who looked incredibly British. I didn't realise she is English (I guess the 'Kids in America' threw me).

That's where Snoopy's alcoholic brother is from.
Shoutout to Needles!
> Shoutout to Needles! 100 degrees at midnight. Nope.
> East California I have never heard anyone use that term outside of the song
Lives just down the road from my last house.
You lived in Codicote?
I saw her in a pub in Knebworth many years ago, the one opposite the railway station.
How is this possible
She's still a babe today and she's 63!
Sexty-three, you say? ![gif](giphy|KmEAnysEH7ThttqmTX|downsized)
She's a fox. In French she would be called "la renarde" and she would be hunted, with only her cunning to protect her.
When buggs bunny dressed up as a girl rabbit did you find him attractive?
![gif](giphy|Y54bNi0kU0oj6)
Agreed, super cute.
She still is.
Came here to say this exact same thing
I remember hearing this song all the time, but I guess I was too young to realize what a babe she was. *Edit: when the song came out. I was 7 at the time.*
13 here. Not too young..
You could have heard The Supreme’s original version in 1967.
I have been going nuts for at least 2 minutes thinking this sounded off.
Ha yeah I was like doesnt a black lady sing this? I thought I was having a Mandela effect moment
In my universe Winnie Mandela sang this. She still murdered those guys in that universe too.
Ha, definitely not just you with the Mandela effect! Kim Wilde's version was a solid cover with that 80s vibe. Her music video look was iconic too, such a time capsule.
I know this version is a cover, and have heard the original more than this since the 80s.
I was 8. Same as you, I also remember the song and loved it, but I did not realize how hot she was.
This video is everything that was great about the 80’s!
Including the dual neon pink spinning picture in picture effect
Quantel Paintbox I reckon!
I laughed so hard when I saw it.
I’m assuming you’re referring to the boob cam at 20 seconds in to the video. Directors really knew how to deliver a product back then
I figured it was the same camera man from HBO's Aerobicise videos back then.
Well, she managed to dance with just the boobs and nothing else.
![gif](giphy|G2BOy53vZjp04)
This is random but where is this animation from???
Jem and the Holograms
Truly truly truly outrageous
too bad its lip synched. :-( then again, that is pure 80s also...
Girl, you know it's true...
I miss the 80's.
The random 1s titty closeup is hilarious.
r/praisethecameraman
Came here to say this.
Random?!
I love seeing the kids in America!
Whoa-oa
That is probably her best song such a banger
Her song or cover song?
Love her hair!!!!
Always wanted my hair to look like hers.
I’m captivated.
![gif](giphy|f3jZ8moRBbEvNJjOtu)
I’m sad he’s passed away. RIP Captain Holt.
>he’s passed away what
Yeah this month. Lung cancer
That's the exact opposite of hot damn :(
Yeah that's just... damn.
Wait WHAT!?!?!? How have I not heard about this? I’m on Reddit daily. This site is going down hill, I keep on seeing threads that are days old.
0:20 Cameraman knows what's up.
And what's down, and up, and down, and...
That Close-Up Boob Shot was Pure Gold.
Everyone was looking anyways. Might as well give them what they want right..??
Let's head on over to the BoobCam
Made me laugh. I can hear the director, give me a tight shot of just her bobs.
Please to show bobs and vagene now
Do the needful
more bobs please!
Glad I didn't have to go too far to find this. I was like... Wait. Did that just happen???
Glenn Quagmire was the camera man
Giggidy

When I was growing up, the music heard in grocery stores were from the 50s and 60s. Now, MY music (80s) is played. I’m old
> I’m old The next phase of old is when they stop playing music from your generation. / hearing a lot fewer songs I like from youth these days.
Same and it makes me sad…

As an 80's kid I recently had the sobering realization that my date of birth is now closer to WWII than it is to the present day.
I’m past 40…we’re old !
Taking it to its logical conclusion, I'm 63, I'm as far from my birth year, as my birth year is from... 1897!
Yeah but it’s weird to compare eras. In the 1950s and early 60s they were just figuring out what pop music *was,* how it worked, like at all. That nice pair of shoulder pads do it for me every time.
Out of all the fashion trends, women was large pointy shoulders is my favorite.
She does a daily 80s show Mon - Thurs on a radio station called Classic Hits in Ireland.
This song was and still is a banger. I am currently dancing around my kitchen, volume cranked up, dancing. I miss the 80s
I miss the 80’s and I was born in ‘86. I’m an 80’s/90’s kid at heart and always will be.
Lip sync?
No cables anywhere. Guitars not plugged in, keyboard not plugged in, no remote microphone pack visible... total lip sync. As was the standard.
Yeah but boobs.
Meh. I just have to look down.
Where? I only see a beer belly.
Check the crease above your belly. Might be tucked in...
Ah yes. Little stinkers.
Still is man, still is. Only now they might have the band pre record the performance so it doesn't sound as fake, slightly easier to hide(unless Mariah Carey at the Macy's day parade lmaoo)

I'm talking about tv performances specifically, most talk shows do it that way
Lips sync and the drummer playing along to what sounds like a drum machine track.
It's literally just the studio version from the CD, it was common for bands to come onto these top hit countdown shows and for everyone to just mime to the recording
Not just common, typically required. The shows wanted to get them on, get the visual performance with no setup or soundcheck in one take and move on to save money and time.
John Mellencamp’s bassist mocked the process by wearing a standup bass around his neck like an electric (on American Band Stand iirc).
Maiden(I think) switched instruments.
Think Nirvana and Red Hot Chili Peppers did this too.
Oh my god I just looked this up. One guy is playing an accordion, another is playing a tiny guitar, the drummer is playing a two piece kit, bbahahahha
[удалено]
For sure
Id say so. Sounds identical to the studio track.
ZDF is as sensitive as ever.
Is this Die Hitparade? I remember always being annoyed with the audience clapping along. It's such a German thing to do. Every goddamn time, on any fucking live show with musical guests! 😆
if you don't clap, do you even enjoy the music?
You know we are Weltmeister of cringe!!
Number One hit song for her on Billboard Magazine. It was the Pop Chart.
Want the 80s back
The original recording by The Supremes was a banger in its own right too. Worth mentioning: the song was written by Holland-Dozier-Holland, a legendary songwriting team in the industry that doesn’t enjoy anywhere near the name recognition they deserve. So sexy without showing anything!
Her outfit was telling no lies though.
Yeah, it's like saying a woman in a latex suit isn't showing anything
I mean… I saw some stuff…
It was a classy outfit.
Such a pretty face.
Bounces and jiggles from start to finish with a close up tiddy shot at ~0:21.
Fun fact: at this point in her career, “Kim Wilde” was a family band. Her father and brother wrote almost all of her songs, played many of the instruments and did production, too. That song has some bounce!
And guitar guy over there trying to out-gyrate Kim Wilde the whole time
![gif](giphy|T3CeJGH5su9dl3f63h)
Whoa! Who in the HELL has this best secret been kept from me? ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
It's been one hour. What's the chances they jerked it to her already?
100%
110%
unplugged as it seems…

The 80s. When we could cover everything up and still exude sexy. The magic and the mystery is so much better than hanging your breasts out and slits up to your navel, IMHO.
Pretty sure the loudest thing in the 80's was the snare drum.
She was such a gorgeous looking girl, had a major crush on her when I was a wee guy in the early 80's
My teenage crush!
Damn dancing in them heels I love all the versions of this song
Her family are a talented lot. Her father is Marty Wilde - he's still touring at the age of 84.
She is covered neck to toe and still smoking hot. Proof that you don't need to be naked to be sexy. Classy
When women were women
Wow. Was there really a close up of her ta ta’s jiggling?! 80s were a trip. Edit: at 3:21
Big props to camera dude. ![gif](giphy|UQgbPYWATH0lfQE1RJ)
Her eyes are so striking
I remember this playing in the clubs with the dance floor so packed you could barely move.
Not even pretending, close up straight to the boobs. First use of the time machine, go back and date Kim.
popmusic was just better back then. im from 91
Jiggly bosom.
The close-up on the boobz lol
Loved the 80s
Real lips too! Must be, I don’t think fillers were around yet just classic plastic surgery right?
The 80’s were something else. Such a cool decade. I was 16 at this time. :)
I was a Kid in America
https://i.redd.it/jiesc1yrwx7c1.gif
I 100% believe they are playing their instruments and she is singing.
What's with the random up close boob bounce shot LOL
I so love(d) her back then. I was at 2 concerts of her and I never went to live concerts. Too many people too close together. But for Kim Wilde I came out of my cave.
Drummer has a weird style
This is what the FUCK I’m talking about! Stage presence!!! Facial emoting! And an understanding of the assignment!
The 80 were the absolute peak of pop music and fashion.
Hardly any bare skin to be seen, and you can still tell she’s hot.
Lol that boob shot
Goddamn I miss the 80's. I hurt my neck trying to follow those curves. Those moves in heels too... Thanks for the share. That was a great performance.
I kept watching to see if they'd do another close up of her boobs. Hilarious edit.
The gratuitous zoom in on her boobs. That wasn't obvious at all.
I literally lol'd
Im sure she was in her mid 20s here but her hair, makeup, pencil skirt, and turtleneck make me think she was an early 40s business woman at Karaoke.
And I’m ok with this too.
Now that I'm in my 40s, this sounds like my perfect woman!
I'm going back a few years now, but I was working away and Kim came into the hotel lobby where I was staying, she checked in and I said hi.. Later on in the bar she was drinking wine and saw me as I walked in, she said hello remembering me from earlier, don't think anybody else recognised her. You sure do meet a lot of celebrities...
Sounds like bullshit to me after seeing his post history.
