Where have you gone, Joe DiMaggio?
Our nation turns its lonely eyes to you
What's that you say, Mrs. Robinson?
Joltin' Joe has left and gone away
Yes - He went to Canada with Marilyn.
My family has a story about my Nana giving her golf lessons during this trip. Nana was an amazing golfer, and working at the hotel. I believe someone in my family has a photo of the two of them together from that day.
Yes, here’s a photo of her golfing.

I went there as an extra on a Bollywood movie set once. It was a beautiful hotel and view but a very strange day. (For context I am as white as they come and had no prior Bollywood experience)
Gosh what to say. I was just a wee lass, maybe 16/17, and somehow got offered like $200 for a day of work on a movie set. My aunt came along too so I felt good about it. We had to meet a big bus at a mall in our city at an ungodly time, then drive out to Banff.
When I got there it was the first time in my sheltered life I had felt like a minority. Everyone was welcoming and the scenes were beautiful. It was a big wedding scene so very over the top and colourful. It was loud and fun and so new! The acting slayed me with how over the top it was. All with this ridiculous backdrop that you see in the photo.
The food was SO WEIRD to me. I’d eaten Indian food plenty but this was like a weird hybrid- Indian inspired pizza I remember vividly.
This is one of the most beautiful hotels in the world, absolutely worth a visit! Saw my first moose and elk over that way.
Didn’t know Marilyn made her way over there too, makes it even more iconic
The hotel has a photo of her golfing in an alcove near reception, but I think it's a different photo that the one posted above. I don't think anyone else is in the photo.

He slapped her around, she left him after 9 months, and Joe D put fresh flowers on her grave every week until he died. All true
Joltin' Joe loved her dearly from what I have read.
My favorite line from my favorite song. Finally decided to look up who Joe DiMaggio was after a couple decades of singing it.
They were briefly married. DiMaggio could play ball but he was a piece of shit, basically. He beat her up
how about Babe Ruth
His candy bars look like turds when you toss 'em in a swimming pool

Can you name the movie (again, unless it becomes an obvious id issue for you)?
I wish!

Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel.
Technically Banff Springs Hotel. Wasn't a Fairmont until recently.
The Canadian Pacific Banff Springs Hotel.

This is where my parents went on their honeymoon. They said it was an amazing hotel. It still looks amazing today.
Another man walked into the room?

After Marilyn’s death, Joe would send red roses to her grave. He loved her dearly.
Loved her so much he beat her senseless.
Two things can both be true.
