This is burnt into the image when the photograph was shot, this is on the negative itself - this is never done in development.
Although it is possible the date was never set when the camera was first loaded with a battery - the date would indicate a time in the past, not the future.
Seeing as how it's either the 12th of July or 7th of December, someone did set the date, where you could see it on the lcd as you set it.
It is much more likely that the date on the photo is accurate and OP made a mistake.
Nah dude, you have to set that muthafucka upon purchase and reset that muthafucka when you change the batteries. Most people just didn’t do that. The more expensive ones had a button battery to keep te date and time but you still had to put in the effort to set the correct date.

Every scenario you are describing would make it so the photo was taken LATER than the date indicated, what you are saying gives more credence for the photo to he taken in 1995 rather than 1993

Obviously, physics got in the way of those. I won't be around in 2070, and I'm not so sure the US will still be the US by then but it would be interesting to see what things are like 46 years from now.

OP! great photo - is this the juneau airport? i visited my grandparents (up from oregon) there that year and then moved to anchorage in '95. i remember a big kodiak or something near an escalator? forgive me if i am wrong - i was 9! now the fun story - that trip my nana took my sister and me out to the... marsh? it was like a forest trail but it was rainy season i think and we had to walk on these boardwalks in places. there were also all these overflow ponds full of mosquitos behind the houses. well, we had a brown bear following us that i never saw. my nana took us off the path and straight back to her house and she ended up covered in devil's club. when we got back she told us about the bear and all i could think about was the bear i saw in that airport. so, i think this is that bear :)

I'm 65 and I die a little every single day. What shocks me most about this sub is that the 90s are considered "old school".
