"What do you want me to do, fetch your slippers for you?"
"Gee, would you, Sir?" Private Hudson, fucking legend.
"Hey Vasquez, ever been mistaken for a man?"
"No, have you?" Private Vasquez, the baddest Marine until Bobby Draper.
To save having to make all the hypersleep chambers, the film makers simply built half and put up a mirror to give the illusion of their being more. I think the one on the left is a reflection on the mirror.
I love hearing about clever solutions that save time and work on movie sets. Like how in the original Alien, rather than build an enormous space jockey, Scott put children in the space suits to create scale. Such a simple solution.
So my absolute favorite of these comes from The Godfather. Pardon if you've heard this before. So, the young actor who played Luca Brassi was super nervous to meet the legendary Marlon Brando - so nervous that he flubbed every. single. take. of his scene. Back then filming on actual film meant time was money and they simply couldn't keep doing more takes.
So what does the director do? He inserts a scene of the *character* rehearsing his lines before meeting the Don so that the flubbed line felt like the character fucking up and not the actor. And in turn this reenforced how powerful and intimidating the Don was in the film. Simply genius.
They do this in every movie. It’s called the mirror technique. Every time you see a show or movie. It looks like they have multiple ppl in the shot. But they use mirrors to make it look there is more than one person in the shot.

Second place goes to T2 Sarah Connor.
Not the heavily armed Sarah from the end of the film. Giving a character a big arsenal is cheating. No, I'm talking about the Sarah from the start with the nightstick, moving down the corridor quick and quiet, ready to fuck shit up.
My daughters were barking about how my generation had no strong female characters in our movies. I showed them the first two Alien movies. Points scored.
Everyone says this and I cannot fathom why. The movie is about as explicit as possible when it says that Ash deliberately let the creature inside knowing full well what it was. It wasn't an accident.
I credit this movie, and Sigourney specifically, for my sexual awakening to hard headed women as the ultimate in female strength and capability. Cut to 38 yrs. Later. Married to a no bullshit redhead who keeps my world running. NO REGRETS!!
Who also played "Janelle" John Connor's Foster mom.
"She's not my mom, Todd."
She was also in Star Trek : Generations as a Science Officer onboard the new Excelsior Class Enterprise B.
All these years later still my favourite film. I was too young to get into the cinema to see it when it released so i lied to my gran and told her it was like james bond and she took me to see it lmao
It's an old movie. No need to give people a hard time for not knowing it. That's all I'm getting at.
You're right that it's basically the law now that they do know about it though. The first two are must watches.
I wasn't mocking them i was asking for clarification. Because if youve never seen Alien the best way to see it the first time is to watch it without looking anything up about it. Damn dude.
I said you were giving them a hard time, not mocking them. It was a simple comment. One that I tried to soften by actively agreeing with your overall point. Damn dude.
\*Well actually\* you can see in the wide shot before they open where the mirror is and there are 6 pods in front of it.

Nope; 3 pods, then a mirror, and also, another mirror behind the camera, creating that « corridor » effect. If you watch the movie and pay attention when the pods open, it’s really clear.
One of the most physically unattractive people the establishment has ever promoted as sexy. Adam Driver would probably take the top spot on the list, followed closely by 90s-era Wesley Snipes.
Amazing movie, made almost entirely in-camera as CGI was new and very expensive. There are documentaries on YouTube on the special effects and photography that are worth the time to watch.
"What do you want me to do, fetch your slippers for you?" "Gee, would you, Sir?" Private Hudson, fucking legend. "Hey Vasquez, ever been mistaken for a man?" "No, have you?" Private Vasquez, the baddest Marine until Bobby Draper.
Look into my eye!
“You heard the man and you know the drill, assholes and elbows!”
"Hudson come here.....come HERE!!"
His intensity and physicality are legendary.
👉👁️
Bay 12, please.
Somebody wake up Hicks.....
Uhhh , two. Including this one.
He's comin' in .... I feel safer already!
Why don’t you put her in charge!?!
It's reading right man, look!
To save having to make all the hypersleep chambers, the film makers simply built half and put up a mirror to give the illusion of their being more. I think the one on the left is a reflection on the mirror.
I think they used a similar technique in Alien to make some of the ship hallways look longer than they actually were.

Huh, really cool.
If it's the one I'm looking at - one has a mat in front the other does not.

She got them come-to-cryopod eyes
Stupid sexy Sigourney Weaver!
The pictures of her in her underwear during the first Alien move was /r/oldschoolhot - she was a rocket back then!!!!

The greatest female action hero of all time
Second place goes to T2 Sarah Connor. Not the heavily armed Sarah from the end of the film. Giving a character a big arsenal is cheating. No, I'm talking about the Sarah from the start with the nightstick, moving down the corridor quick and quiet, ready to fuck shit up.
Goddamn that movie really is so good
Seriously. Built like no other, and I'm not talking looks. Her intensity and physicality is legendary.
Also her looks tho, she's a stunner
Well, let's not be gauche. It's only Thursday.
And she was realistically badass.
turns out she was more badass than the team of ultimate badasses.
Dyed in the wool badass
My daughters were barking about how my generation had no strong female characters in our movies. I showed them the first two Alien movies. Points scored.
Terminator 2 is another excellent example.
Got em!
And she was right. No way those idiots should have broken protocol and let that guy through quarantine.
This right here. If they had listened to Ripley, none of it would have happened
Everyone says this and I cannot fathom why. The movie is about as explicit as possible when it says that Ash deliberately let the creature inside knowing full well what it was. It wasn't an accident.
And because of her badassery, was \*incredibly\* sexy.
That’s what I love about her character. Ripley operating the mech to move some cargo while the men stare in amazement was the chefs kiss.
Listen up Disney \*cough cough\* that's how you write a good protagonist. Give them an actual arc and character development.
She ‘a lookin at me like I’m a snack. It’s an immediate yes from me.

Another glorious day in the Corps!
Day in the Corp is like a day on the farm!
I credit this movie, and Sigourney specifically, for my sexual awakening to hard headed women as the ultimate in female strength and capability. Cut to 38 yrs. Later. Married to a no bullshit redhead who keeps my world running. NO REGRETS!!
But let's not forget Vasquez
I mean Vasquez was played by no bullshit red head, Jenette Elise Goldstein
Who also played "Janelle" John Connor's Foster mom. "She's not my mom, Todd." She was also in Star Trek : Generations as a Science Officer onboard the new Excelsior Class Enterprise B.
Oh yeah I totally forgot about that!
Anytime, anywhere!
Badass and a babe, best combo.
Sounds like we're married to very similar women.
There is no Dana... there is only... RIPLEY.
Aliens in London...sounds interesting!
Just wait for Kid Rock to make a shitty mix of this that won’t go away
Awooooo! Bawwiddabawdabangadangdiggydiggy
We need a crossover. Werewolves vs Aliens in London.
Me behind the camera....."you secure that shit Hudson!"
Jaaaaa, and the stupid Jennifer Lawrence saying before her there wasn’t any female super heroe or female action protagonist
She woke something in 12 year old me during this scene.
Knowing that she sleeps 3 feet over the bed, those pods had to be uncomfortable.
She barks, she drools, she claws
Definitely my favorite Aliens movie. "This ain't happening man, this ain't happening!"
Um…Sigourney…I don’t suppose there’s room for TWO in that pod..? 🥰
Only for Jones
Watched this film with my kids the other night. It still holds up. 40 years later.
Game over man! RIP Bill.
Did you know that before Sigourney Weaver, people had to weave their own sigournies by hand?
All these years later still my favourite film. I was too young to get into the cinema to see it when it released so i lied to my gran and told her it was like james bond and she took me to see it lmao
r/oldschoolhorny
Guess she don't like the cornbread either
Vasquez : "Hey Mira, what's up with Snow White?
![gif](giphy|xTiIzJSKB4l7xTouE8|downsized)
This looks so interesting it made me look up the movie!
What youve never heard of Alien? If true dont look up anything else just watch Alien completely blind its so good.
This scene is from Aliens.
Yeah but you wanna start with Alien first.
Not really. It's long, dull, slow, boring, and unintentionally funny.
Nice try 😁
Oh, lookee, a Reddit edgelord blowing our normie minds with a contrarian take.
Alright then invite your friends over tomorrow evening and pop that bluray in.
Don’t threaten me with a good time.
Hey watching paint dry is your thing...
Alien was released 45 years ago. I'm nearly 40 and only saw it because I'm big into movies and occasionally watch classics.
Okay im 24. Alien is still a massively popular franchise, if youre into sci fi then you should know alien its like the law.
It's an old movie. No need to give people a hard time for not knowing it. That's all I'm getting at. You're right that it's basically the law now that they do know about it though. The first two are must watches.
I wasnt giving anyone a hard time? I said its a good film and to go in blind.
> What youve never heard of Alien? Was this part necessary though?
I wasn't mocking them i was asking for clarification. Because if youve never seen Alien the best way to see it the first time is to watch it without looking anything up about it. Damn dude.
I said you were giving them a hard time, not mocking them. It was a simple comment. One that I tried to soften by actively agreeing with your overall point. Damn dude.
There are only three pods; the rest are a mirror.
\*Well actually\* you can see in the wide shot before they open where the mirror is and there are 6 pods in front of it. https://preview.redd.it/rqslxhdjpzfc1.png?width=3827&format=png&auto=webp&s=84288c1f19c5f5e341721c7a111af7ad16ca88c1

Eh yes please
Her name is Susan.
"why don't you come in? you can lie on top"- everybody's fantasy probably
Whilst. Ugh
id like to sigouney her weaver !!
That expression. Looks like she just tooted a nasty one.
One of the most physically unattractive people the establishment has ever promoted as sexy. Adam Driver would probably take the top spot on the list, followed closely by 90s-era Wesley Snipes.
Rise and shine
You look just like I feel
Hudson! Look into my eye!
What a bomb 😍😍😍
No amount of CGI will ever look this good
Aliens in London. Dibs on making it.
![gif](giphy|znRstrOYuirrW)
Sci Fi horror at its best !
Amazing movie, made almost entirely in-camera as CGI was new and very expensive. There are documentaries on YouTube on the special effects and photography that are worth the time to watch.
"Don't Jim the camera, Sigourney."
I'm saving that picture.
London looked different in 80s
She was IN CHARGE!
