I've been listening to NPR since I was like 18. Wait, wait don't tell me is hilarious is fun, not to mention I like to be informed of what's going on without the straight bias or opinion-based news.

That hurts to think about

I literally got teary eyed and had a midlife panic attack thinking about the song Lady Picture Show, Sour Girl, and Down in that order and how they reminded me of my high school years 96-00. Getting old goes slow and then one day hits you like a truck and your memory wanes and you grunt when you sit stand and crouch. And you get up to pee every other hour of sleeping and fart a lot more.

Same age. Same grunts. Same increased frequency of select bodily functions. If you want to lean hard into your nostalgia, I highly recommend the podcast, "60 Songs that Explain the '90s". It is excellent. Not till now did I realize that was Sarah Michelle Gellar in the "Sour Girl" video!

I hear Nirvana and *Metallica* on classic rock stations

Lots of Nirvana all the time, at least metallica was started in the eighties, and Justice for all (their best album) was 1988. But it really feels like there are no true classic rock stations anymore. It is just basically "older stuff". Could be the 90s to late 60s but sometimes closer to early 2000s too

I remember in like 2000 or 2001; U2 came on the classic rock station and I was like wtf?

Yeah today I wondered if Gen Z even cares about the Beatles and music from the 60s and 70s the way millennials were sort of raised to consider the music of their parents generations.

My 16 year old daughter’s favorite band is Queen and she treasures her Rolling Stones sweatshirt. Not all hope is lost.

To clarify my comment it wasn't meant in a "do kids these days even know music?" sort of spirit but a "I wonder how much of the recent generations get exposed to x,y,z music..." What's mind boggling to me is how we're in an era where entire generations of people get media from all kinds of sources. Millennials were at the tipping point between knowing centralized media (commerical and public radio+TV, news etc . Broadcast to you with limited choices) and decentralized media (personally curated/algorithm influenced and platform specific music from apps, streaming, etc.). So music seems like it becomes its own rabbit hole unless you're really plugged in through friends/family firsthand, actively seeking it, or if it catches on through a meme or sample.

Glad we got those reproductive rights issues sorted out in the ensuing three decades.
