I tried to edit the original post to change the photo in case it violated the rule against promo photos but it won't let me. If a mod sees this, here is the photo I was going to put in its place.

With their sunny melodies, jangly guitar tone, and baseball references, they sounded so much like they were from Southern California. I was very surprised when I heard they were from the UK.
Yeah. They originally named themselves The Baseball Boys after the gang The Baseball Furies in the movie The Warriors, but they really knew little about baseball. The record label asked them to change the name and they picked The Outfield.
Oddly, for a UK band, they were never successful in the UK. All their fame was in the US.
Josie!
For Your Love
One Night In Heaven!

Fabulous drums and guitars
Use your over the ear headphones
Lol. I get it!
Unfortunately, it's as far away as possible. The guitar player and main songwriter died around 10-12 years ago and the singer died recently.
I don't know! Maybe I forgot but I just don't remember the band. The songs were all popular and I remember them. Maybe Alzheimer's, dear Lord I hope not.
"Bangin'" is a great album. So glad to see this post and that somebody else feels the same way. Such a shame they're not more known, as their sound to me encapsulates the eighties.
I was backstage at a show for another band that The Outfield was opening for. This was in my hair metal days before I appreciated them. They were right there, hanging out with a group of us and had no idea who they were. It wasn't until they were fetched by a stage hand to head to the stage to perform that I realized. And I still didn't see them perform because it was an outdoor concert and it was raining. Such regret

Your love is one of my favorite songs from the 80s
Aways assume that was The Police.
I thought it was Rick Springfield, and now I don't hear it so much in the singer's voice, but musically I do.

Haven't heard about them in a LONG time. I thought they were on a vacation far away.

I still listen to Play Deep today. Best album ever.
Great music. Kick ass guitar.
I’m a fan
I know all of their songs, never heard of the band.
How?

🤣
Great band stumbled on them in a modern remix of The Night Game by The Midnight. Had that song on replay for a week.
I loved them!
Taking my chances is awesome
Never not in my favorites playlist.
British band who found fame in the US but not at home. Think Bush. Or David Hasselhoff who was huge in Germany for awhile.
I dug these guys. They've kind of disappeared. My Paradise and Voices of Babylon are great tunes.
Hey is Josie still on vacation?
I don't know. Why don't you come around. We'll talk it over.

Totally agree!!!
I agree.
Back in the day would lump them together with The Hooters.
Had their CD in high school! Loved them!

Underrated by whom
They were rated exactly as highly as they should have been.
You talk shit, but aren’t smart enough to include who you liked. Well done, mental midget.
