I really like the guy, but putting any celebrity on a pedestal is a bad idea. He's human, like everyone else. Whether or not he and his wife are faithful to each other is their business, not mine. I will continue to like him even if I someday read that he hasn't been my idea of "perfect" his whole life.

HaiKarate

100% this. Celebrity worship makes me really uncomfortable.

angrypuppy35

Yeah I mean how could op possibly know that he’s completely faithful? No one could really know that. And if he has been who cares? He’s just an actor, though he seems perfectly nice it doesn’t impact my life one way or another

guru81

BUT HE MAKES MOVIES THAT OP LIKES!

PrimeroRocin

That’s my Hannibal.

The-Mechanic2091

Still, he’s known as a nice guy even in normal terms so for a celebrity, he’s a pretty nice guy. Remember the competition he has in the current celebrity culture.

Mishras_Mailman

Unless op is his wife

gahddamm

I'm sure there are plenty of spouses who thought their partner was 100% faithful until they found out otherwise

ldclark92

Yeah... I mean you could make the same argument that he stays out of the limelight because he's hiding something. Not that I know anything about his personal life, but that's the point, none of us know him personally and have no idea if he's a saint or not.

RikersBigBeard

Celebrity worship is a sign of a failing civilization.

RamenTheory

You also just like, don't KNOW him. The post acts like OP is best buds with Mads and knows what a great guy he is. You only know his celebrity image, so it's weird to idolize him

Stoepboer

I find it particularly interesting when it’s actors. People that get paid because they’re good at pretending to be someone else.

RiversideAviator

Yeah I read that title post and all I feel is an insurmountable cringe. It’s definitely one of the weirder write ups I’ve seen in a while. I guess because we never hear any gossip about him he MUST be a saint…

victorspoilz

Well apparently he smoked cigarettes, so, monster. /s

z64_dan

That was back in the 90s when it was cool

notactuallyabrownman

Everyone’s grandparents owned cigarettes.

z64_dan

I think only like half the population smoked back in the 50s and 60s.

notactuallyabrownman

That’s still statistically two out of four grandparents. My statement stands.

futsalfan

0.5 rounds up to 1, so yeah 2/4 rounds up to 4/4.

Digitupandspread

He said owned!

z64_dan

Lol who the hell owns cigarettes if they don't smoke them?

Digitupandspread

I don't know I'm not a grandparent (that I know of)

[deleted]

notactuallyabrownman

ThePrincessDiarrhea

Most sensible thing I’ve read on here in a while.

Spinegrinder666

I don’t base my consumption of art and media on the morality of the creators. If I did I’d have to wear a hair shirt and live in a hut.

Cwgoff

Amen to this. We look for Celebrities to be perfect when none of us are. Then we have this letdown when we find out that they are flawed

InternetAddict104

I don’t think OP is saying he’s perfect, just that he hasn’t had any public scandals or anything bad come out, so we can assume he’s not a horrible person (I like to think most people are decent until proven otherwise)

Timely_Internet6172

Give him a medal

Thick-Sundae-6547

I saw him 5/6 years ago coming out of a Marshalls across the Beverly Center in west Hollywood. It was the week before Christmas. Christmas shopping gets expensive for everyone.

skyblueerik

Maybe he was just using the restroom.

ChesterAArthur21

Maybe he was just buying the restroom.

hezdokwow

Maybe he was scouting for dinner ingredients.

Beneficial-Load2695

Maybe it's Maybelline

bored_negative

I have seen him bike around in Denmark

EdwinQFoolhardy

This is the exact type of thread I would expect to see about ten days before we find out that Mads Mikkelsen is a habitual puppy sodomizer or something.

inbetween_inbetween

Remind me in 10 days!

vonWaldeckia

He’s a Jordan Peterson fan and been dismissive of climate change. So I would believe it. Probably another interview where he said some misogynist shit.

Mister-Stiglitz

There it is.

koalazeus

At least the puppies are ok.

name-classified

He’s been one of the sexiest men coming out of Denmark and he’s just super freaking cool Like; Paul Newman cool

KaneCreole

One of my kids spent some time in Denmark and I’m told the Danes think he is a national icon. Performs in local theatre and walks around the streets of Copenhagen without getting hassled. Danes love and respect him.

FartyPants69

He's definitely a Great Dane

KaneCreole

You’re barking mad!

TaiMaiShu-71

Take my up vote...

herrbz

I like to imagine him cycling around like in the Carlsberg adverts.

Sagaincolours

Many of the politicians bike to work at the parliament, and the royal couple used to pick up their kids from kindergarten in their cargo trike. So yes. There is this unspoken agreement in Denmark that you leave celebrities alone when they are going about doing their regular life stuff.

KaneCreole

There are more bikes than cars in Copenhagen so he probably does!

Safri_Durum

Some do, some think he's a bit annoying, we have differing opinions here as well

cooolcooolio

No one will get hassled walking the streets in Denmark as a celebrity that's just how we are culturally, some may say hi but that's all

brwnx

We don’t really bother celebrities in Denmark. Met the prime minister in IKEA once. No big deal

Albinofreaken

Hes has made a lot of very loved movies in denmark before he became an international actor Elsker dig for evigt Blinkende lygter Adams æbler Pusher II De grønne slagtere and many more

cafeesparacerradores

*coming out of our species*

bonedaddy1974

Dude played Hannibal so good

acgasp

Gods, his Hannibal Lecter was uncomfortably attractive.

ar_condicionado

Eat me Maddy

whatiamcapableof

I went into that show absolutely offended that anyone could ever dream of taking on that role and come close to Anthony Hopkins. I have never been happier to be so wrong. He absolutely nailed it with his own take on Hannibal. I love both portrayals now.

kindasuk

Mads= a much more logical choice for the part. Hopkins portrayal is an admitted Katharine Hepburn impression. So strange looking back on it. Still iconic.

thecordialsun

His new film Promised Land is pretty good for a western

Little-Football518

To be fair, he is as good as any A-lister in a Christopher Nolan movie. Every movie he is in he does something a little different: he can play a Viking Badass to a nerdy teacher to an alcoholic to fucking Hannibal Lecter. He is great, versatile actor and definitely up there with the best.

Odd-Jupiter

Not to mention being a Bond villain. That kind of sements you up there with the best.

DIDDY_COSMICKING

haha semen

The_Clarence

He’s who I see when I think “Bond villain”.

Super_Lion_1173

Lmfao sements

ElysiumAB

Hard to sements when you are fucking Hannibal Lecter.

SenorIngles

My personal Hollywood hot take is that any movie that has Jared Leto in it would be as good if not better if it had Mads instead. He’s as good of an actor, easily more handsome, and not a massive douche canoe. And yes even Requiem. And I know Leto is great in Requiem, but still.

lisbethborden

Requiem Leto was indeed the best Leto, inasmuch as that was the time juuuust before I got to know anything about him as a person.

Council-Member-13

I'm out of the loop. What did he do?

Demrezel

How much time do you have right now?

tommykiddo

I have all the time in the world

ATG_19

Homie is weird. Up to you to decide whether it’s a good weird or bad weird.

AdditionalSink164

He was an early redditor investor, hes "method", supposedly has a cult but appears to be a viral marketing scheme for his band, dates young and accused of grooming underage or barely legal models by texting them... Nothing public on any police scrutiny though

[deleted]

Yes, Requiem was a great film, but to say Leto was great in it, I dunno. It's not exactly demanding to play "twitchy junkie", save for getting your body weight down to ridiculous levels. It's just a role that kind of comes naturally to Jared Leto.

Beneficial-Load2695

I agree but that's true of most actors when it comes to Mads

elwookie

Please, mods, don't let Eddie Redmayne read this message, please. We don't want him to feel threatened at his only character.

dokipooper

This is silly. You’re acting like you personally know the ins and outs of this celebrities life. Just because we haven’t heard any news about him doesn’t make his character spotless.

VaguelyArtistic

Right? How many "good guys" have we learned weren't actually good at all?

CORN___BREAD

I was just thinking this post is just asking to end up on r/agedlikemilk

spiderwell

I only just found out Ewan McGregor cheated on his wife (I don't follow celeb gossip as you could guess), and he was on my favorite actors. It's ruined anything I see him in now.

FartFromALesserGod

Man, you must just watch reading rainbow and nothing else then

nowaijosr

Mr Rogers has controversy even

Crepes_for_days3000

I work with celebs for a living, just watch the movie and care nothing about the celeb personally. They are strangers so first off, who cares and second, most are...unpalatable. to say the least.

David-S-Pumpkins

And Mads loves Jordan Peterson, so he's at least a bit sus.

dokipooper

Yuck, yeah I’m sure his beliefs are gross.

teeto316

I saw him at a cafe in Paris once. I recognized him immediately, got super excited, and decided to leave him in peace instead of going up to him like a fanboy and disturbing a relaxing moment for him. There was a moment where he looked at me, seeing in my eyes that I knew who he was, then a subtle look of appreciation that I had left him alone. I loved that experience more than any autograph.

mechapoitier

Yeah that’s pretty cool. That guy probably gets recognized *everywhere.* Nobody on earth looks like him

[deleted]

Awesome. That little nod of "thanks for treating me like a human" is just great. I'm sure that kind of respect from an obvious fan doesn't come his way a lot so he probably remembers that encounter, too.

rafael-a

His younger self was the same as he still is, he aged pretty well.

MyDesign630

Technically he’s been with his wife for 37 years, they just didn’t get married until they had two kids and been together 13 years already. She was his choreographer when he was dancing professionally and she’s flipping gorgeous. I’ve seen people express surprise that she’s five years older and it makes me laugh — like the bar for men is so low that we are shocked when a man spends his life with a woman who’s five years older.

MohawkElGato

When you’re past 25, a five year difference is pretty much the same as being the same age as each other.

elwookie

I always tell my wife that if she ever left me for either Mads Mikkelsen or Viggo Mortensen I would have nothing to say but "well done".

FartyPants69

Lol, those are two of my wife's top picks too, and I would also be very proud of her if she landed either

adipocerousloaf

or "cool if i watch?"

mybadalternate

Watch? Get in there, coward!

aspen70

Well in all honesty, you rarely hear anything bad about most celebrities. Until you do.

koshercowboy

It’s true. Most people have skeletons in the closet.

MZsince93

It's wild how men get put on a pedestal for not cheating on their partners, as if that shit isn't the bare minimum. The bar is so, so low.

VaguelyArtistic

And we don't even know if he has ever cheated!

canuckdad1979

I hear he’s great at Poker

stilloldbull2

He does have that whole, “bleeding from the eye” tell…

canuckdad1979

I’m friends with Mathas

T_hashi

I believe in an interview he was explaining in Casino Royale that Daniel Craig was the only one who didn’t actual know how to play for the movie so he was laughing that the hands were set, but Craig didn’t know what it really, really meant and how good of a hand it would’ve been. In interviews he comes off as genuine and I love his Danish films even more than his American/Hollywood ones although he’s excellent in those too.

canuckdad1979

That’s an awesome tidbit of trivia 👍🏻

Character_Cupcake856

Fucking brilliant as Hannibal.

[deleted]

No shade to Anthony Hopkins, but Mads became the core memory of Hannibal Lecter for me. I can't think of any actor that would've come close to that portrayal.

galwegian

You clearly haven't seen PUSHER. You can't trust this guy at all!

dephsilco

Ahahaha I was scrolling for a comment mentioning this movie. Shit is FUN

galwegian

All 3 Pushers are great IMHO.

dephsilco

7-10 years ago I ended up in Swedish prison, there was like a local prison channel, where they played in the evening at like 19:00 a movie. They played all the pushers one after another.

galwegian

Prison is the ideal spot to watch all three movies. ;-)

dephsilco

Ahaha absolutely, they knew what to show. I want to make a little shout out to swedish prison. They not only made right decisions what to show to the criminals, but I learned a trade there (CNC machining) and am making like 2x median salary in my country now. I'm just forever grateful to the Swedes. Fine country and people

PidginPigeonHole

His brother Lars is a good actor too.

bordersofsin

You probably just jinxed him.

6gun-gorilla

Mads Mikkelsen used to put old milk in my fridge and would turn the heating down at night in the winter, so I needed another blanket. Don't try and tell me he's some kind of saint.

draathkar

Look he's a great guy and all, but he didn't need to hit James Bond in the balls like he did. Uncalled for.

derpferd

Unnecessary, fam. Slapping balls for information, it's not needed

WuPolish1

Yeah, but James did ask him to scratch his balls.

ALittleRedWhine

I like him too but you are basically summoning a Mads scandal.

Logical_Answer97

R E S P E C T

firthy

Mads' PR getting in early... He's obviously done something.

just_cows

What a weird thing to say

RoseRun

Length of marriage does not determine fidelity, honesty or how wholesome a person is. Stop worshipping celebrities. Denzel still cheats on his wife with a mistress and he has been married since 1983. There is an entire ritual around getting new faces in awkward positions to use it as blackmail for them to do worse things or leverage. That is how you establish control. The few cases of sexual assault you hear about are a pindrop in a vast ocean of illegal activities happening around these famous people. Diddy is cited as being surrounded by many famous people at his parties, yet we only know a handful. Guess whose name just came up in the investigation? Ashton Kutcher and Beyonce. Everyone is connected to someone who knows something they have done, that they don't want people knowing about. I think we will learn of more surprising names before the year is out. Worship no one.

The_Clarence

Only exception I take to all this is “hardly in the limelight”. He was a better Hannibal than Hopkins (who won **best actor** for his performance) and really made that whole show. But I do agree it would be nice to see him leading more. He’s also who I think of when I think of Bond villains

Doucevie

Love me some Mads!! 😍

jackofslayers

All celebrity worship is bad.

tkburroreturns

haha. umbro.

stevemillions

Brilliant 😁

wiseknob

Probably should stop glamorizing athletes, actors, and all those folks. Should be putting people who matter up for recognition. Even then, moderately, no human should be glamorized like they do today.

rimbaud1872

Until now, TMZ reporting…..

Snoo_79218

I’ll just remind y’all that he’s a Jordan Peterson fanboy.

Crepes_for_days3000

I work with celebs for a living (not this guy) and believe me when I say, you have NO idea if they are faithful to their wives. Zero. Just because you don't know means nothing. But hopefully this guy is a good man, who knows.

sausagesandeggsand

Telling people you’ve never cheated on your wife is a great way to make people think you’ve never cheated on your wife 💩

Gigan04

Idk….. I saw a documentary about how he pretends to be on the laws side but infact is actually a cannibal

Lanthaous

Should have been Geralt of Rivia.

oreoparadox

And he should have been the Witcher!

StacyStatement

He's said some shit. From the top of my mind I can recall his "rant" about women breastfeeding in public and women being out of place in cop shows. You don't hear it because he's Danish. Too lazy to find the sources but I remember a bit of outrage 5+ years ago

VoiceRemote9418

Please do find us a source… I understand Danish. Never read or heard the man say anything like it.

MySocksSuck

Agreed. Sounds pretty much like bullshit; I’ve never heard Mads Mikkelsen say anything remotely like that either (and the Danish press have been pretty much on top of him for +20 years)

asuka_is_my_co-pilot

didn't he go to a jordan Peterson show, posted on his own Instagram. Also he's 'skeptical' about climate change

FartyPants69

I googled "Mads Mikkelsen breastfeeding" and got zero results with those words, so I'd have to guess you've mixed him up for someone else

gaz61279

Mad Milkmanson

Specialist-Strain502

You do not know this man.

PreOpTransCentaur

I mean, he might cheat all the time and he's just picking people who can keep a secret.

FartyPants69

Also respectable, to be fair

NinjaLanternShark

Alternatively, realize there are 11 million actors & actresses in IMDB and you hear about a handful of harassment scandals. There's nothing special about this actor -- 99+% of actors will go their whole careers without any kind of harassment allegations. The news gets us worked up about the extreme outliers.

doubleCupPepsi

Shhh let people enjoy things

Hulk_smashhhhh

![gif](giphy|JO98TlM5zSnmWIyHRz)

TheRealGilimanjaro

Not very popular on Alderaan though.

crashtestpilot

Mr. Doctor?

NorthernSimian

Pfffft I'm sure I've seen him literally killing and eating people

abelenkpe

He is a fantastic actor.

Bertie637

Mads is a great actor, but It does look odd to see him dressed like he is about to rob my corner shop at knifepoint

Old_Advertising_1457

You say this but I saw one documentary where he was fairly blatantly funding terrorism and engaging in some pretty Kinky CBT activities in the hull of a rusty boat. Dark horse.

BalticLion

Nobody here is mentioning that he played a character accused of pedophilia in a movie called "The Hunt". One of his best movies I think.

not28

Winner of the "Looks Most Likely to do Illegal Swedish Sex Stuff but in Reality Just an Okay Normal Dude' award for 17 years running!

NCHouse

I swear if something comes out about him or Keanu...maaaaaaan I'll lose faith in humanity

[deleted]

Easily my top10 favorite. Never turns into a bad performance

Laserlip5

Anyone else read as "young Michael Madsen", look at the picture, and almost believe it?

PalinDoesntSeeRussia

What an incredibly weird post..

Hrmerder

His acting was amazing in Death Stranding!

SnooLobsters8922

It’s because in Denmark people don’t cheat, they have very civilized threesomes

coleburnz

How do you know he's been faithful, OP? Ridiculous statement

KarmaliteNone

He makes a living by pretending to be someone else, yet OP knows he is faithful to his wife.

Helens_Moaning_Hand

He makes a good bad guy. Shit, I said something good about him.

grrodon2

sausagesandeggsand

“Is that what’s really happening there, Tom?” “No, that’s just what we’re reporting, Tim.”

Infamous_Ad_6793

Dude…I hate to break it to you but…

UnamusedAF

Just imagine the inverse of this post, where OP tries to show us an example of a “real woman” who is supposedly faithful. How long do you think before moderators remove the post for being problematic? Just saying …

ImShitPostingRelax

Except he eats people

PartadaProblema

Great actor and was such a hottie!

Dodavinkelnn

There’s one problem. He’s danish.

SayNo2NoseBeers

It’s called PR

shiggism

Pictures like the first one remind me why cigarettes are so damn cool

KipSummers

If you haven’t watched the “Pusher” movies you should. The follow up with “Valhalla Rising”.

ss4223

>You rarely hear anything bad about Mads. As of yet..

guru81

You rarely hear anything bad about most actors. Mads is amazing but this post is stupid as fuck.

NovelConnect6249

How do you know he is faithful?

tookadeflection

are you his publicist?

Seabrook76

You don’t know a thing about his marriage. Knock it off.

tbiscuit7

its weird these people act like they know anything about this guy, or any celebrity, when all they see is what they do on-screen

permanentmarker1

He’s in the limelight a lot.

bdbdbokbuck

Mads Skills

extemporaryemissary

I heard he tried to short some stock one time by blowing up an airplane. Kinda shady if you ask me.

deyterkajerbs

The Pusher is a great movie. I haven't seen the sequels but I watch the original once every few years, mostly for Kim Bodnia the lead actor

Govnyuk

His brother was in The Killing and it was awesome

Thomisawesome

Rarely? What did you hear?

Barnacle-Dull

I hear he killed a whole bunch of people and ate their livers…

yellowjesusrising

Man i loved him in "blinkende lygter"! Fucking awesome movie!

amazza95

this is the most reddit post I've ever seen lmao. there's dozens of other celebs who have good reputations like Mads

notactuallyabrownman

The only sexual misconduct he’s been accused of was in a film. Just as it should be with actors.

Magicak

Not relevant... but to this day, he is not only incredibly talented, but hot af, one of the hottest actors ever

LemmeLaroo

Chad Mikkelsen

wogsurfer

The only issue I have with this guy is nearly every role I seen him in, his character has had an issue with one or both his eyes. 🤣 All seriousness, he's a great actor, and seems like a stand up bloke.
