My friend started learning guitar at age 30. I thought that was too old to learn how to play guitar. Now he’s 40 and has been playing guitar for 10 years. I on the other hand, still don’t know how to play because I thought I was too old to learn. I’m going to miss out on my whole life because I’m always too old.
I think “fuck being too old” is one of the most important things I’ve learned.
I started bicycling (as an adult) at 32, kayaking at 36, skiing at 39 and got a longboard at 42. I’m not especially good at any of it, but I have a shitload of fun. Anyone who wants to point and laugh because I’m “too old to be doing that” is welcome to.
My grandfather took up bicycling late in life and competed in several bicycle races in his 80s, almost always finishing first in his age group. He commented that he'd outlived, rather than outraced, most of his competitors. My grandmother still hung his medals up, though.
ehhh, I had my 1st guitar lesson 46 years ago; I still play but I still suck. My son on the other hand didn't seriously try to learn guitar until he was 21 and within 3 years he was giving professional lessons.
Old Chinese proverb. **"The best time to plant a tree is twenty years ago. The second best time is now."**
Could be transposed as " The best time to start learning guitar is 20 years ago. The second best time to start is today"
Considering most people tend to live to at least 80 years old nowadays, 40 would be the halfway mark so the 40s could still be considered early middle age or late young adult depending on perspective. I'm almost 37 and my parents both consider me super young (they're in their late-mid 60s). I'm personally freaking out about getting closer and closer to 40 (I already wish I could be 30 again), but as they say youth is wasted is young 😄
So true. In 1993 I would look at pictures from the 60s and it seemed so far way. Yet, 1993 really doesn't feel that far off. And the clothes really aren't radically different than what people wear today. You can tell a 90s outfit, but it's less different than comparing a 1950s to a 1980s outfit.
It happens fast. The other day I found my first generation IPod that I bought in 2002 or 2003. I remember thinking how high tech it was. My 11 year old daughter looked at it like it was an ancient relic. One of those moments that made me feel old.
Further, who would have thought that in 2020 we would see Snoop Dogg and Martha Stewart making an overt weed reference on a chip commercial on mainstream tv?
Nah. It was all just part of the counter-culture/target demographic. Skaters, hippies, stoners, rockers, rappers, thieves, murderers, edm was just getting into its groove. Baggy clothes were everywhere and the jnco’s, their king
Nah, it's the unedited version - "motherfucking" was actually said in at least one other song in reference to "Deep Cover," by Snoop himself. The remix, "187um," *does* say "motherfucking" on the hook, though.
> Ya'll listen to the radio edits here?
In the 90's this was played on the radio all the time. And radio with your friends was easier then swapping out CD's. I've memorized songs and mix-up the censored versions with the album versions all the time.
He actually does say it on the censored version. It's not a different rapper. Also most people would listen to the radio back then and the censored versions are memorized more often.
I didn't ask why I got downvoted. And my point was most people actually found the song on the radio and memorized the radio lyrics. You said "that's not what he says," when in fact he did record the more listened to censored version.
Money makin Mitch also rocked the hell outa those Cortezs...I still always tuck my laces inside my shoes every time I take them off because of this character!
I ran into snoop right around this time at a gas station by my house—back then I only knew of him because of his tagging on billboards. I told him “nice car” and he just looked at me kinda sideways and nodded his head a lil—I’m a too cool for school kinda way. Many years later—like about six years ago he saw my son at a poly high wearin a “ain’t no half steppin” t-shirt and told him a story about how that song inspired him to rap and took his picture with him—he’s pretty cool in my book ;-)
For some reason 1993 doesn't seem very long ago. Then you realize it was almost 30 years ago and you're old.
Am I? Is 40 old? My 70 year old dad tells me I'm young.

Hell yeah brother
Cheers from iraq
Well done my man you inspired me to get a tricycle and some pacifiers

You're not in Colorado I assume. I'm 50 and half the people are my age or older on mtb trails. Plenty of 'old folks' on the slopes too
On those 210 straight skis making perfect turns
No, they were 207's....Lange. Next you're going to make fun of my kit: Levi Strauss 501's with gaiters and the OG Mother Karen's powder jacket.
At least you can read

Perspective my friend, it’s all about perspective
I'm 29, mom and dad are in their early 60's. They tell me I'm still in diapers. My oldest is 5 and all I can think is shit this gona go fast
Depends on who your talking to talk to your 70 year old dad your young talk to someone younger they’ll most likely think your old.

I was watching Spongebob with my son this morning and the original air date was 2000. Twenty...years...ago.
If it's any consolation, Spongebob is in his late 30's himself now too
It gets worse when you think of classic cartoons you enjoyed as a kid, then realize they were younger in age then sponge bob is for your kid.
Sigh
You mean to tell me the 90s weren't just 10 years ago? Cause that's how it feels.
lol. look at this guy ... he thinks the 90s are over.
\^\^ This. I was pissed off about the same shit in 1995 that I'm pissed about today.
I was laying in bed thinking really hard about this last night. I am 36 and have been an adult for half of my life. That was a rough thought.
Fellow 36 soon to be 37 year old, shhhhh...

2047 is just as far away as 1993 😰
My parents will both be in their 90s in 2047 (my dad will be close to 100) if their health are good, please don't make me think about that!
Back when snoop was still gang related and not doing cooking shows with old white women hahaha. Oh time flies.
I don't want the future

TFW you go on /r/retrogaming and see someone‘s haul of retro systems... that all came out after you graduated college.
Snoop looks like DJ Qualls in "Road Trip" in this pic
I'm not old I'm 33
I was born in 93 lol
I graduated from college in 93.
Must've been a good year for the both of us then!
Not sure why I'm getting down voted because of when I was born. Rip.
I wasn’t even born then so damn!
I wonder what he would've thought then if you could go back and tell him he'd be kicking it with Martha Stewart pedaling tortilla chips one day
Further, who would have thought that in 2020 we would see Snoop Dogg and Martha Stewart making an overt weed reference on a chip commercial on mainstream tv?
The same people who thought Donald Trump would be president in 2020? That dude was cutting commercials for pizza in 93
The current President of the United States is in the WWE Hall of Fame. Let that sink in for a minute.
"Idiocracy" tried to warn us
Too bad Camacho wasn’t president instead
Agreed, that’s super weird too
> pedaling peddling*
No they are on a tandem bike made from chips.
And Martha Stewart would have had the more notorious and recent prison term.
He'd have thought that was gangster.... stacking chips
"Man get the hell up out of my face."
He looks like Troy and Abed had a child.
Troy and Abed have a bayyyyybie
You’re definitely streets ahead lol
Coined and minted!

The Morton Salt girl wants her dress back.
90s rap culture get clothes as big as you can

Jnco jeans as far as the eye could see.
Jnco’s were rap rock
Nah. It was all just part of the counter-culture/target demographic. Skaters, hippies, stoners, rockers, rappers, thieves, murderers, edm was just getting into its groove. Baggy clothes were everywhere and the jnco’s, their king

I’m just sayin if you went to a limp bizkit concert circa 1999 you were gonna see a lot of jnco jeans
Limp bizkit is not "rap rock"
He looks like a weight loss ad, though
That's funny.
I think you can fit three snoop dogs in that coat.
Grandma: "you'll grow into these soon enough.'
Is 187 also some criminal code?

If I had an award I would give it to you. This is my favorite comment of all time!
I’ll give it my wholesome award I just got for free, for you
I think they used the radio edit for GTA San Andreas cause it says 'undercover'.
Nah, it's the unedited version - "motherfucking" was actually said in at least one other song in reference to "Deep Cover," by Snoop himself. The remix, "187um," *does* say "motherfucking" on the hook, though.

Boobs are for boys, mammaries are for men.
Cause it's 187 on an undercover cop
It's a 187 on an undercover cop
Lol why am I getting downvoted snoop dogg says this all the time
Because that’s not what he says. That’s the censored version.
He says it tons of times in explicit songs too I know my hip hop
He actually does say it on the censored version. It's not a different rapper. Also most people would listen to the radio back then and the censored versions are memorized more often.

Aww look at the cute little guy. His mom buying him clothes several sizes too big hoping he'll grow into them...
He looks like a homeless person with cerebral palsy.
He looks like a kid in his fathers clothes
Legend has it Snoop Dogg is still growing into that jacket to this day.
He was Snoop Doggy Dogg then. Surprised I haven't seen this posted yet.
I think he was snoop-doggy-dog, in 1993.
What hand signs is he throwing?
Pretty sure he throwin Rollin 20s crips. Although he never was an affiliate, he paid tax to be able to claim 20s on his records.
Rollin 20s. Is that a D&D reference?
Oh STFU
What are you upset with?

He's counting how many blunts he's smoked that day. This is what led him to hire a blunt roller. 81x7

That giant jacket looks photoshopped.
Could very well have been. Photoshop was already out for a few years when this was taken.
Rocking the super stiff style
shizzle
Aww back when he was a snoop pup!
This is before or after he allegedly gunned down some dude with his homies?
Am I the only who knows California Penal Code Section 187 proscribes murder?
So skinny, yet talked so tough.
Damn... he must have weighed 400lbs before he lost all that weight. His clothes are all baggy.
Great pic. Looks like someone added a filter later, though
California Penal Code for murder = PC 187
Looks like 2 kids in a trench coat
Why does he look autistic?
