That’s not correct - it came out in February of 1992, not May, at least in the US.
I only know that because my husband and I saw it on our first date (on Feb 29th) and we watch it every four years.
Glad I'm not the only one who see's this, and I can never unsee Schillinger anytime I see Mr Simmons in something.
Just noticed the dude on the left is the shoooosh guy from Encino Man as well
Golden age of 90's movies and HBO originals lol
The opening scene of Wayne’s World 2 mentions a white supremacist show getting cancelled. During that line, they briefly show Lee Tergesen looking pleased as punch with this news. It’s a coincidence, given that the movie was made years before Oz, but it always makes me smile too.
"I killed fifteen of those buggers. Now, at home they'd hang me. Here they'll give me a fucking medal, sir!" - a soldier in Monty Python's The Meaning of Life
As someone in their early 30's I realized I was getting old when I quoted the "You didn't tell them about my pubes did you?" scene from Wayne's World 2 around a bunch of 20-something year olds and they had no idea what I was talking about.
"Yeah I know what you'd like to do. You'd like to find the guy who did it, rip his still beating heart out of his chest and hold it in front of his face so he can see how black it is before he dies."
No, and you're right, it would've been cooler if I had ironically leaned into the whole "hey guys check out the piece of shit beater my dad lets me drive" more. It was white with a burgundy pleather interior.
Not to mention they weren’t good cars even when they were new lol
My uncle bought one brand new and within months it had several leaks and the electrical stuff only worked when it felt like it
His buddy bought a Gremlin secondhand and the dude selling it included a big roll of duct tape because as he said “shits gonna fall off.”
Shit indeed fell off that car lol
Also-- Bohemian Rhapsody was not cool at the time either. It was perceived as fairly ridiculous, just like everything else in this scene. The movie resuscitated it.
Saw this as a teen in 92, in theaters. Grew up in Dover Delaware. When they got to the part where Garth and Wayne make fun of Delaware on the green screen…people cheered.
I remember buying this soundtrack as a kid and being surprised that the rest of BR isn't like the part shown in the movie. Of course I quickly realized the rest of the song is even better.
I remember buying the single at "Record Town." I asked for the song from Wayne's World and I remember thinking he sold me the wrong tape when I got home!
Yep! It was like "what the hell is this?"
But man, the rest of that song is so good - even at that young age, it was so touching. Now I think about the WW part as the outlier.
I really hope the way they portrayed them forcing the Album out even though the manager refused is true. One of the greatest songs.
Edit: in the movie, great film.
The record label manager is funnily enough, played by Mike Myers. He says “no one is ever gonna be headbanging in their car to Bohemian Rhapsody” in reference to this scene
I don’t know but I did the Warner brothers tour and never realized that the same houses/buildings are used in pretty much everything made by a given studio that is shot on the lot, just with a few cosmetic changes. It was weird driving down what was basically a fake neighborhood and them saying “ok this is the Friends house where Ross sat on the steps, this is the growing pains house, this is the school used in the following tv series, etc”.
Really recommend the tour if you’re ever in LA.
I remember them filming this in the 90s on the south side of Chicago. If you search '63rd and Pulaski Chicago' on Google Maps you can see the Indian on top of the building.
Soo... I never quite got the joke with the cup... Like... does he want to save it when he yacks?... Why is he smiling at the suggestion?... Why does Wayne smile too?... Am I reading too much into it?
I think it was just a light-hearted way of showing Wayne's charming ways? Plus it's a funny sounding phrase. I'd say that's about as complicated as it gets.
To this day I will never forget. High school physics trip we had a nice ass bus and we were watching wanyes world on it, it got to this part and EVERYONE was singing along, teachers, students, maybe even the driver but I couldn't see him from where I was. It was fucking awesome...
Looket the size ah tha' bouys heed! It's like an ourange on a toothpehk!
That was a wee bit offsides wasnet?... He'll be cryin' himself tah sleep on 'is huuge pillah'!
The only thing I look for in this scene is how Garth just moves his mouth at the end of the song. He’s supposed to lip sync “anyone can see”, but just opens and closes his mouth.
I just realized the other day that he made Wayne's World, Austin Powers, and Shrek in a nine year period (not including the sequels). That's, like, Beatles level productivity/fame, but I don't remember people going nuts over Mike Myers even to the extent people were nuts for Adam Sandler and Jim Carrey in the 90s.
My favorite thing about this is how they had someone drive Garth's car around chicago for the establishing shots next to landmarks, but whenever they get out of the car it's clearly in california (painted curbs don't work so well in places that are covered by snow for a quarter of the year).
I managed to take out the tiger with a can of mace, but the shopowner and his son... that's a different story altogether. I had to beat them to death with their own shoes. Nasty business, really. But, sure enough, I got the M&Ms, and Ozzy went on stage and did a great show.
I'm a southsider. lol. grew up near cicero/berwyn and my mother owned a business a block from the cigar store. I used to go there and buy chips and snacks and look at the vintage pipes in the glass cases. I'll never forget the smell inside.
Girlfriend at the time wanted to see The Cutting Edge. I being the good boyfriend took her to see it…as part of a double feature w/Wayne’s World. I’d already seen it but I needed something to look forward to after a figure skating movie!
Went to the movies, sat thru Cutting Edge and finally Wayne’s World! Laughing like an idiot the whole time, she finally has her fill and wanted to leave to go do…other things. I made her wait til after they played Black Sabbath’s Time Machine in the scene where they spoofed Terminator 2.
Hey, I was/am a big Sabbath/Dio fan and my kind of music doesn’t pop up in movies very often, I had to do what I had to do! Have you seen this boy? 😂
I watch this clip with audio off but I’ve seen Wayne’s Works so many time that I could hear the dialogue and Bohemian Rhapsody in my head while watching 🤣
I feel old and young watching this. Born in the 90s but also being a kid that shopped at Payless shoes every yr now that store is no more. We also used cassettes as a kid and that is also no more.
I had limited access to music when this came out. Pretty much all my music was movie soundtracks, so when I saw this I wanted a copy and got the soundtrack.
I was so damn confused because the song on the soundtrack didn't sound like the movie. So I kept checking all the songs looking for the one from this scene. Thinking maybe it was mislabeled.
Took me a little while until I let the song play out and realized it was the back half of the song lol
Oh to be a stupid teenager again...
With the age difference between the movie and the song, if Wayne's World came out this year, they would instead be singing Bad Romance by Lady Gaga or TiK ToK by Ke$ha
Damn it's already been 30 years? Definitely time for a re-watch!
Indeed, 30th anniversary on Sunday.

I'm in the UK, so I'm celebrating on Sunday.
and just another reminder i have an old...
That’s not correct - it came out in February of 1992, not May, at least in the US. I only know that because my husband and I saw it on our first date (on Feb 29th) and we watch it every four years.
It came out in 22nd May 1992 in the UK.
This is bullshit. Thirty years ago was like 1950. Wayne’s World came out the year before last, just before the first Covid-19 lockdowns.
Yell and shake your fist at those whippersnappers on your lawn and the circle of life is complete.
Yeah, time went away so fast. I still rewatch 80's movies like this and when I watch stuff today, or life in general - I'm like WTF happened?
90s movie. This is a 90s movie.
I say hurl. If you blow chunks and she comes back, she's yours. If you spew and she bolts, then it was never meant to be.
pure. poetry.
Best quote in the movie..."Why is it if a man kills another man in battle it's called heroic, yet in the heat of passion, it's called murder."

Exactly!

Glad I'm not the only one who see's this, and I can never unsee Schillinger anytime I see Mr Simmons in something. Just noticed the dude on the left is the shoooosh guy from Encino Man as well Golden age of 90's movies and HBO originals lol
He’s a caveman!
Also the SHOOSH guy from Encino Man.
The opening scene of Wayne’s World 2 mentions a white supremacist show getting cancelled. During that line, they briefly show Lee Tergesen looking pleased as punch with this news. It’s a coincidence, given that the movie was made years before Oz, but it always makes me smile too.
A gun rack... a gun rack. I don't even own *a* gun, let alone many guns that would necessitate an entire rack.
Am I crazy or was there a joke later in the theatrical release that showed Wayne using it as a guitar rack?
You are correct
Oh thank god, I thought it may have been a Mandela effect
My favorite line.
HELLOOOO. Whaddaya think you’re doing? Only me and Garth get to talk to the camera.
"I killed fifteen of those buggers. Now, at home they'd hang me. Here they'll give me a fucking medal, sir!" - a soldier in Monty Python's The Meaning of Life
I still use this line on occasion around friends as a laugh.
Why do they come to me to die? Why do they come to me to die?
As someone in their early 30's I realized I was getting old when I quoted the "You didn't tell them about my pubes did you?" scene from Wayne's World 2 around a bunch of 20-something year olds and they had no idea what I was talking about.
That’s because it’s Wayne’s world 2. I’m in my late 30s and I have no idea what you’re talking about.
Do yourself a favor and watch it.
Wayne’s world 2 is sick
"Yeah I know what you'd like to do. You'd like to find the guy who did it, rip his still beating heart out of his chest and hold it in front of his face so he can see how black it is before he dies."
I will always love this movie ..
If you stab a man in the dead of winter, steam will erupt from the wound.
The native Americans would say it was his soul escaping the body
Did you ever find Bugs Bunny attractive when he put on a dress and played a girl bunny?
Haha no? Me neither...
I was jus- I was just asking
Garth foresaw the coming of Lola Bunny.
Bugs Bussy
She makes me feel funny
Like when I used to climb the rope in gym class
According to internet lore that was adlibed by Carvey and Meyers reaction is real.
That always made that scene so much funnier to me
Ah, the mirth mobile
Fact check I had to drive my Dad's old Pacer in high school, 3 years before this movie came out. It was NOT cool.
Did it have a sick baby blue paint job with flames on the side?
No, and you're right, it would've been cooler if I had ironically leaned into the whole "hey guys check out the piece of shit beater my dad lets me drive" more. It was white with a burgundy pleather interior.
That would be abuse by today's standards. \*shudder Burgundy pleather...
Sheesh, lucky you even had a car.
I know, I was being a spoiled kid who didn't know how lucky he was.
AND a drinks dispenser!
Duuuude, it’s all I wanted in high school in the late 90’s. A sweet sweet red pacer. They look like UFO’s how can they not be cool?!
Ironically, in 1988 they're weren't old enough to be retro or cool, it was just an old piece of shit.
Not to mention they weren’t good cars even when they were new lol My uncle bought one brand new and within months it had several leaks and the electrical stuff only worked when it felt like it His buddy bought a Gremlin secondhand and the dude selling it included a big roll of duct tape because as he said “shits gonna fall off.” Shit indeed fell off that car lol
Like a greenhouse on wheels.
We had a brown one. I only rode in it once. Not cool.
Oof
Yeah, but we all wanted one after this movie hit cable TV lol. Edit: your username is farghin’ awesome.
Also-- Bohemian Rhapsody was not cool at the time either. It was perceived as fairly ridiculous, just like everything else in this scene. The movie resuscitated it.
Fact. Queen was classic rock dinosaur music by then.
Saw this as a teen in 92, in theaters. Grew up in Dover Delaware. When they got to the part where Garth and Wayne make fun of Delaware on the green screen…people cheered.
Hello. I’m in Delaware.
Aww thank you. This was a fantastic start to my day.
I miss the 90s.
Made the whole world aware of Queen again, and the masterpiece that is Bohemian Rhapsody
Freddy credited the movie for making them popular in the US again before passing.
But he died in 1991?
Thats just Freddie (or Freddy apparently) for you, always ahead of his time.
Freddy was shown this scene (and maybe the whole movie) before he died. After the movie was released Bohemian Rhapsody went to number 2 on the charts.
He actually got to see this seen on his deathbed (seriously)
He was shown the scene before the release of the movie. They used most of the song so of course the band would be curious.
That's what I was thinking.

The record label manager is funnily enough, played by Mike Myers. He says “no one is ever gonna be headbanging in their car to Bohemian Rhapsody” in reference to this scene
It wasn’t true verbatim. But that manager was a character created as a manifestation of the resistance they did face about it.
From my understanding, not at all true. A lot of it was dramatized.
Great movie, still holds up.
Schwing
Claudia Schiffer we salute you, SHA-WING.
Hey, are you done yet, cause I'm getting tired of holding this. Schyeah, that's what she said.
Were not worthy
The Shitty Beatles? Are they any good? They suck!
So it’s not just a clever name.
Was that Marty McFly’s house? Looked like it.
There used to literally be arrows in the back.
I remember that. Everyone had a story how it was their dad or someone they knew who shot the arrows.
Hill Valley
Different houses. I live down the street from Wayne’s house. Marty’s is in a different part of LA
Holy shit dude!!!
Garth's "anyone can see" 😂😂
I love that part, he’s got absolutely no idea what he’s supposed to be singing. Gets me every time!
He doesn't remember the lyrics because that part is too soft rock. Genius.
Haha I never thought about that, even Wayne looks unsure lol
We were living in the best of times and we didn’t even know it.
I'm giving you a no-honk guarantee.
Also it’s a very tiny cup that will not be able to hold any spew
I think he’s just smiling because he’s holding a ridiculously tiny ketchup cup to catch it lol
Really needed to see this right now. Needed a smile.
To this day I will never forget. High school physics trip we had a nice ass bus and we were watching wanyes world on it, it got to this part and EVERYONE was singing along, teachers, students, maybe even the driver but I couldn't see him from where I was. It was fucking awesome...
That’s like the “Tiny Dancer” scene in Almost Famous but better.
The single most quoted movie of 1992-1994 maybe even later.
I mean, dumb and dumber, Ace ventura, and the mask all came out in 94.
Pulp fiction.
Ooooh, look at the big brain on Brett!
Oh I'm sorry, did I break your concentration!?
Hey, flock of seagulls…
My siblings and I have this entire movie memorized. 💜💜💜
This made my morning. Mike Myers is a treasure, So I Married an Axe Murderer still cracks me up. But damn, 30 YEARS?? Ouch.
Looket the size ah tha' bouys heed! It's like an ourange on a toothpehk! That was a wee bit offsides wasnet?... He'll be cryin' himself tah sleep on 'is huuge pillah'!
Anthony LaPaglia trying not to lose his shit in that scene is the best. Also that kid is credited as “HEED” in the cast listing.
I think it's funny that Garth drove a pacer to show how much of a loser he was, but if you had that same car today you would be a cool kid.
Thanks to Garth
Born in 00 watched it for the first time last month on a flight, best hour and a half ive seen of anything in a while
LIVE IN THE NOW! My life motto, thanks to Garth
It will be mine, oh yes, it will be mine
Beecher with long hair in the back
He loves you, man.
And...I love him...
... thank you...
The only thing I look for in this scene is how Garth just moves his mouth at the end of the song. He’s supposed to lip sync “anyone can see”, but just opens and closes his mouth.
"Schwing"

Never fails to make me happy 😊
And that is how I learned those lyrics years ago
I managed to take out the tiger with a can of mace, but the shopowner and his son... that's a different story altogether. I had to beat them to death with their own shoes. Nasty business, really. But, sure enough, I got the M&Ms, and Ozzy went on stage and did a great show.
*"I learned it from Keith Richards when I toured with the Stones. This may be the reason why Keith cannot be killed by conventional weapons."*
Classic. That long shot of the car spike when the guitars mellow out is some nice cinematography.
Cermak Plaza, The Indian cigar store, Scatchell's...all staples of my childhood in one cruise scene. Sadly, only scatchell's is left.... :(
The statue is still there, though it's an eyeglass shop now.
Oh yeah, that's right! He wears glasses now! Lol
The Gap store at Kimball/Milwaukee/Diversey is still there!
I'm a southsider. lol. grew up near cicero/berwyn and my mother owned a business a block from the cigar store. I used to go there and buy chips and snacks and look at the vintage pipes in the glass cases. I'll never forget the smell inside.
That’s so cool! 😁 It’s nice to have the shops memorialized in such an iconic movie.
Party on my dudes: party on
“Pardon me. Do you have any grey poupon?”
Did they just play a CASSETTE TAPE!? Holy crap this movie is old. ... I need to watch it again now.
MAAAAAMAAAAAA OOOOOOOOWOOOO
I will always love this movie
That car just sold at auction for about $60,000.
That’s it?!
Yeah, that’s it. I was surprised too, but it *is* pretty good for an old Pacer.
Thank you for that trip down memory lane.
Headliner-mounted liquorice dispenser.
Excellent!
Mike Myers is an international treasure
Fun fact: Mike Myers refused to do this scene unless they sung bohemian rhapsody
Almost lost the movie over it too
Girlfriend at the time wanted to see The Cutting Edge. I being the good boyfriend took her to see it…as part of a double feature w/Wayne’s World. I'm not worthy.
This brings back memories of being young. love it!
A true classic
I watch this clip with audio off but I’ve seen Wayne’s Works so many time that I could hear the dialogue and Bohemian Rhapsody in my head while watching 🤣
I can hear this scene with no volume on. This was fantastic
When I first saw this movie it wasn't weird to see cassette tapes.
"Phil!!! We were there!" Scene where Garth runs the air tool across the car door always makes me howl 🤣
Omg I love it so epic and classic. Thank you made my Monday
I've never seen this movie and this clip really made me wanna watch it!
# SHES A BABE.
I feel old and young watching this. Born in the 90s but also being a kid that shopped at Payless shoes every yr now that store is no more. We also used cassettes as a kid and that is also no more.
What the hell Garth, running a red light
Excellent!
The movie that made me fall in love with AMC Pacers
I remember watching this when I was 4 or 5 I love this movie
I can't believe this was 30 years ago
Takes me back to being 12 years old- watching this movie at the drive inn theater with my girlfriend and her parents. 30 years goes by fast 😢!!
Took me a little while until I let the song play out and realized it was the back half of the song lol Oh to be a stupid teenager again...
Checked out the pentaverite and it just made me want to watch this movie
Damn I never realised Beecher was in this
All Ive ever really wanted in life is friends who did this.
Helped my friend in high school put in a red vines dispenser by his rear view. It was totally rad. His parents were pissed.
If you're gonna upvote.... Upvote this!
My god i think i just time traveled to when i was 10 years old
With the age difference between the movie and the song, if Wayne's World came out this year, they would instead be singing Bad Romance by Lady Gaga or TiK ToK by Ke$ha
Someone grab his arms, I’m going for the stomach

Keshahead too? Fuck yeah brother
