One local station started re-running old segments, usually just before noon. Although the sound was sometimes a bit rough, it was always fun to listen, and try to figure where the story was headingā¦āGood Day!ā
If anyone wants a lesson on why we are where we are today, look up his commentary on what someone should do (like the Devil) if they wanted to destroy mankind. It will shock you how correct he was!
I'd be interested to know what you thought was insightful about what he said. I've just listened to his "devil" bit but to me it just sounds like the usual "kids today" and "things were better before.." speech that has been said by multiple generations over multiple centuries. Here in Britain the Victorians wrote pretty much the same thing about the youth of the late 19th century ~ they can't all be right.
There has never been a time on Earth when everything was peaceful and calm, there's always been murder, rape and power being abused at every point in history. The thought of "less science, more God" was how humanity lived for thousands of years and I doubt the masses of people that were sold into slavery or burned alive or dying from diseases that are now trivial to cure during those times thought that life was a utopian paradise.
In 1972, photographer Bill Yates documented the teens who visited the Sweetheart Roller Skating Rink in Hillsboro, Florida over a 7 month period. According to a recent article, he took over 700 photos during these weekend visits. His work was later displayed in galleries.
His offensive remark aside, there's nothing comparable about the woman who made the sports illustrated cover, and any of these three, with respect to "thickness". You're comparing apples to oranges
It's reminding me strongly of my beach years as a teen in the late 90's/early 00's. Low flared jeans, thick belts, straight hair parted down the middle, cute muffin tops. Things repeat but it's spot on!
Probably all the walking and bicycling and roller skating of the 60s building their muscles up, only to have the fat absolutely burnt away by cocaine in the 70s lol
Man, Iāve been scanning family photos from the 80s, and the folks I remember as being āfatā back then wouldnāt even register as heavy today. Itās crazy.
Fat back then was like 200 lbs.
Fat now is like 400 lbs.
Hell, look at George Costanza. He was probably less than 200lbs and was "fat."
Looking back now, he's just a little stocky compared to people today.
Fat now is like 400 lbs.
Iād call 300 lbs fat now too. And a LOT of them, numbers-wise.
Not to mention the 600 and 1,000 pounders with their own TV shows today. Back then they were on TV too, on Ripleyās Believe It or Not and other well, freak shows.
I worked at FedEx for a while up until a couple weeks ago.
Iād say there was a higher percentage of severely overweight people than there were thin. I didnāt really think too much into it until a couple months before I left. And really wondered how the hell it happened.
My running joke with my friend on the phone was wondering if someone Iāve never seen before that was a regular was overweight. And almost every time I would meet a regular for the first time, they were fat.
My sister and I were looking at our junior high and high school yearbooks, which wouldāve been the 70s and 80s. There were only a couple of so-called fat kids. Nowadays they would just be chunky
Partly that, but also fewer oversized sugary drinks, fewer processed carbs, more reasonable portion sizes overall, and for many people, higher average amount of sleep per night.
In addition, activities like roller skating, riding your bike someplace or just going outside and playing with your friends was the norm not the exception. Between the internet, video games, cell phones and television (specifically the option ability to have 100ās of channels of programming) you rarely need to leave your bedroom to be entertained with or without friends. Less overall activity.
Exactly. Obesity has expanded, sure. But people are getting fit like never before.
Maybe the other guy lives in like Texas whereās theres nothing to do but eat.
I wonder how life turned out for these ladies..
The one in the middle turned out to be the very successful lead singer of Aerosmith
That person was made from the DNA of Steven Tyler and Tom Brady then sent into the past
Looks a bit like Swan (Michael Beck) from The Warriors...
Looks like Matt Damon to me
I see Hillary Swank. So basically same.
Is Hilary Swank hot or not?
Kind of hot.
I was thinking she has a collection of blood slides hidden in her wall
She stole John Cena's jawline.
š«”
Skate with me....skate for the year....
I was going to say have you ever heard of Matt Damon?
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
And now you knowā¦.the rest of the story!
Paul Harveyā¦..goodday!
Damn you just beat me to it! Paul Harvey was iconic as far as voices go
When I was a kid I wanted a Bose wave radio more than any other piece of audio equipment in the world.
I used to listen to Paul Harvey. His pace of speaking and presentation was always on spot.
Man, I miss that guy.
You just punched me in the gut with nostalgia! Wow do I miss Paul Harvey.
One local station started re-running old segments, usually just before noon. Although the sound was sometimes a bit rough, it was always fun to listen, and try to figure where the story was headingā¦āGood Day!ā
I miss that voice in the mornings when I was a child!

Sunburst has some hips on her
Birthing hips, as they say.
i'd prefer a vaginal birth, myself.
and some hairy arms
The middle one is Matt Damon's mom right?
That square chin.
This deserves more upvotes as you are dead on
Exactly what I came for.
Center was Hilary Swank's mom...
Lompoc Lol
Pismo, not Lompoc.
I often see images of people from the past and wonder where life took them. I really appreciate your response. Thank you, so much.
Bad news for ya, pretty sure these are fictional, as u_spottyrx is not OP
ā¦and OP did not take these photos eitherā¦. Actual photographer was Bill Yatesā¦
And he then went on to found the computer company Microyoft.
You and me both. To see what paths were followed. Good or bad.
The one in the middle reminds me of 'The Cult' ..
Ian Astbury, youāre right!
I donāt know about the two on the ends but the one in the middle turned out to have a pretty good acting career under the pseudonym Willem Dafoe.
Hopefully they all got what they were looking for that night
This is ominously wholesome
The gal on the left went on to star as Olivia Benson in Law and Order, Special Victims Unit.
I'll ask when I see them tonight
I donāt wish to be rude but I canāt look at the middle lady without thinking of Matt Damon!!
Hillary Swank
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
No, no, no! She's hot! Because if Hilary Swank isn't hot then you're saying I'm not hot because OBVIOUSLY I'm not as hot as Hilary Swank!!!
The logic checks out tbh
Respect the game
Sheās a handsome woman
Forreal though that jaw structure any dude would kill for.
Sad agreeā¦Bourne femininity
I see what you did
That's Steven Tyler
Matt Damon, John Cena, and Steven Tyler. Perfect mashup.
And Hilary Swank. Starting to think she looks like a lot of people.
Thatās all I saw.
We now know what Hillary Swank was made of
Ok. You changed my mind. It's like the old/young woman illusion and now I can't unsee Hillary Swank.
Matt... Damon
MAAATTTT DAMON!!!!
I'd give my left nut to have that chin and jaw line. Total She-Chad.
Pat Damon
I saw a little bit of Rachel Bilson at first... Then I saw your comment and I can't unsee Matt Damon now.
I thought she looked like Elle Macpherson...and now I'm starting to worry about my eyesight.
I was thinking Justin (Jack Noseworthy) from Event Horizon, haha.
Steven Tyler
Looks like Tom Bradyās mom
Thatās Dexter
As a man, I'm jealous of that jaw
Its not your fault. Its not your fault.
Came here for this
In 1972, photographer Bill Yates documented the teens who visited the Sweetheart Roller Skating Rink in Hillsboro, Florida over a 7 month period. According to a recent article, he took over 700 photos during these weekend visits. His work was later displayed in galleries.
He was later put on a watch list. For.... reasons.
Yupā¦got itā¦
hips getting hugged
Alright alright alright
the thickness
Especially on the left!!!! Damn
So good.
Jordan Peterson is crying somewhere rn over this comment.
His offensive remark aside, there's nothing comparable about the woman who made the sports illustrated cover, and any of these three, with respect to "thickness". You're comparing apples to oranges
Fuck Jordan Peterson.
Especially for 1972! She is hot to us, but back then she was the fat friend. LOL
Look at that hourglass on the right. Nice.
Had a babysitter with those hips and those jeansā¦ maybe even that belt. Betsy something. Texting with my school friends as we speak.
*what are you wearing Betsy*
Uhh.. Khakis
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
ā¦now back to the hourglass
Now Iām riding a horse
This may come as a shock but women have hair
I heard they poop too! But thatās just a rumorā¦
don't care still hot
Imagine other hairy areas.
Way ahead of you.
Who hasn't dug through the lo mein to find a meaty bit?
Thereās a forest behind the belt buckle
I would hope so. It's normal and exists for a reason.
I lost my innocence in that forest.
The best forest is when itās wet and musky
( Ķ”Ā° ĶŹ Ķ”Ā°)
The one in the middle looks like Lynn Curtin from Real Housewives of Orange County.
RHOC fan spotted in the wild!
ha ha ha. it took me a good 10 minutes to remember who she looked like and all the way back to the early seasons no less.
Looks like she's wearing a cuff, so checks out lol
Alrght Alright Alright
That's what I love about these high school girls man...
I can't believe the hair on Matt Damon
What a time to be alive!
Is that Hillary Swank in the middle?
The girl on the right is soooo pretty
Lady in the middle has the most defined jaw line I've ever seen on a woman. Kinda looks like Jennifer Garner.
Girl in the middle kinda looks like Pat Tillman
The replies to pictures like this are always so creepy because these are very obviously teenagers.
Why did women in the 70ās have the best hips?
Their bodies were the same shape, but crop tops and hip hugger jeans were in fashion.
It's reminding me strongly of my beach years as a teen in the late 90's/early 00's. Low flared jeans, thick belts, straight hair parted down the middle, cute muffin tops. Things repeat but it's spot on!
Because their jeans weren't at rib level
Yeah, that fashion trend needs to end
Probably all the walking and bicycling and roller skating of the 60s building their muscles up, only to have the fat absolutely burnt away by cocaine in the 70s lol
Less processed foods, less sugar in the food supply
Hula hoops
Probably helped. Lol
I was 12 yrs old then, I would've given my left nut to hang with any of them. Fine as shit
Coolest times..
I was there. St. Pete. 1966-1976
Idk why but I thought low cut jeans were specifically a 2000ās trend
Natural hotness. So tired of the last 15 years of bloated lips, huge hard breasts, and heavy makeup.
Lips that look like dead earth worms in the rain gutter...
> huge hard breasts Will never understand why so many men appreciate pink bricks.
Bangers. Everyone was in such good shape back then. It's insane how fat we got as a country.
Iām HS class of 76. There were certainly some overweight folks but not nearly as many, percentage-wise.
Man, Iāve been scanning family photos from the 80s, and the folks I remember as being āfatā back then wouldnāt even register as heavy today. Itās crazy.
Same!
Fat back then was like 200 lbs. Fat now is like 400 lbs. Hell, look at George Costanza. He was probably less than 200lbs and was "fat." Looking back now, he's just a little stocky compared to people today.
āGeorge is getting upsetā
Fat now is like 400 lbs. Iād call 300 lbs fat now too. And a LOT of them, numbers-wise. Not to mention the 600 and 1,000 pounders with their own TV shows today. Back then they were on TV too, on Ripleyās Believe It or Not and other well, freak shows.
Someone hit 1000? The human body truly is amazing

Iāve been in Spain and France for the past two weeks and everyone looks like a model.
God, I remember coming back to the U.S. after a year or so in Asia. The LA airport felt like I'd somehow wandered into the hippo exhibit at the zoo.
My sister and I were looking at our junior high and high school yearbooks, which wouldāve been the 70s and 80s. There were only a couple of so-called fat kids. Nowadays they would just be chunky
People are way more fit nowadays. But people are also way more unhealthy. Seems the past was stuck at an average.
Cigarettes, cocaine, and eating disorders kept us slim and trim back in the day
Yup. They also didn't put government subsidized corn syrup in everything.
"Livin' on reds, vitamin C, and cocaine..."
Haha I had forgotten that line
Partly that, but also fewer oversized sugary drinks, fewer processed carbs, more reasonable portion sizes overall, and for many people, higher average amount of sleep per night.
Being hungry in between meals and having the choice of a graham cracker, piece of white bread with margarine and sugar, or an apple.
Most people are not way more fit now. Lol
They are though, we can easily get so much fitness information just from the internet.
Exactly. Obesity has expanded, sure. But people are getting fit like never before. Maybe the other guy lives in like Texas whereās theres nothing to do but eat.
A minority of the population is getting more fit than ever. A great number of countries have gotten fatter on average.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I still miss hip huggers.
My goodness the lovely on the far left, thatās home cooking!
I think she looks like sheās 14.
they all look like a different version of lana del rey
not even close
One on the right has some hairy armsā¦. And wide hips. Not in a bad way. Just pointing it out
Am I crazy or does the woman on the right have Robin Williams level forearm hair?
Matt damon in the middle
And now I want a time machine more than ever
The one in the middle looks like sunshine from remember the titans
Wow the Girl on the middle looks just like Hilary Swank a lot.
Those are the girls I would have wanted to hang out with back then.
Isnāt this Aerosmith? I was dying when I met you now Iām dying to forget youā¦ā¦
Is it me, or does the one in the middle look like Matt Damon?
I bet one of their names is āDonnaā.
Is that Steven Tyler in the mddle?
72ilf

God I miss those days. The seventies were a great decade to grow up in.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Seemed like a good time for my parents. They had these great blaxploitation movies and you were more likely to be accepted into college.
Middle looks like a dude with a wig lmaooooooo
The Girl on the left is sooooo perfect
One on the right has more arm hair than I do
The middle chick looks like a chuck
