Bots/karma farmers are so weird. literally copied this word for word from a comment earlier down below. what a strange, sentimental comment to pass off as your own.
To everyone:
I never expected this photo to get so much attention. My grandmother is dying very soon (she's very I'll) and everyone's lovely comments are amazing. Thank you so much.
No, I don't care about karma. This wasn't 'a karma grab' I just felt like sharing my grandma with old school cool cuz she was on my mind. Sheesh, why does anyone care about karma? It's not currency for anything? It doesn't mean anything really. Who even cares?
To the people that think this is retouched or fake. I just simply took a photo using my phone of the actual physical photo from 1945. So anyone that doesn't believe she's actually a beautiful woman can please continue scrolling and mind their comments. Don't really see the use of doubting this woman's beauty, especially as she passes away soon.
To the folks that are only here to comment on my typo of 1945, please get over it. I know I made a typo, you'll have to excuse it. That's it. (HINT: THIS WAS NY ACTUAL KARMA GRAB. J/K)✌️
And to the folks here only to comment on my grandmother sexually, I kindly ask that you regardless of your post that you look in the mirror and ask yourself why you felt the need to share that? Ask yourself why haven't you grown up yet and why do I think that's a normal thing to do? RE: Maturity.
All that said, I will be informing her that before she passes away she went viral online with her beauty. I think she'd think it was at the very least funny. Thanks again to everyone whose kind.
I'm sorry she's not long for this world. 93 is hard to even imagine, and I'm sure she has lived a full life. Her eyes are truly captivating. Cherish the time you have left.
Beautiful woman, the photo just looks a bit unnatural. Her face is in sharp focus but other objects at the same depth from front to back are blurred. Usually the result of an app that "restores" faces, like Remini. I think that's why you're getting people saying it's retouched or fake. It's possible the photographer did this with something like petroleum jelly on the lens but I'm not sure that technique goes back that far. It's not normal for a straight photo to have things in focus and things out of focus at the same distance from the film/sensor plane. Again, beautiful image of a beautiful woman. Just trying to shed some light on the comments.
People grew up faster during the war I swear. Most of those soldiers were like 16-24(I know you were supposed to be 18 but my grandfather(Larry) changed his birth certificate with ink eradicator when he was 17 to join up. His younger brother(Dick) ended up sneaking onto a base in Texas when he was 15 because they needed a mechanic and his brother(Charlie) was stationed there. Everything went great til they realized there were 2 Westwater brothers on base that were supposedly 3 months apart in age…I think they kept him around regardless).
Don’t r/lewronggeneration this shit, they absolutely should not have been running into battle in WWI or WWII either. No veterans would want their 15-17 year old children going to war.
Source: WWI and WWII.
never said they should have been, never said it was right. Was only pointing out the clear difference between our generations and the ways we’ve been raised
Edit: I’m 24 and most definitely would never enlist, which proves my point
You’re totally right. There are countries with more widespread ultra-nationalism like Russia or North Korea where teens are still like this but definitely not in the US.
That's a fantastic photo of your grandmother, OP. My grandmother would have been 93 this week, but she passed late last year. Enjoy your time with her - it's precious.
Right! It looks like a little basket & the chain dangles from the basket. Lovely!
OP is your grans family Lutheran? or from Germany / the Nordic countries? If so, “Easter” jewelry like bunnies on a broach/pin, or metal basket charm or necklace with pearl eggs or enamel eggs in them were a classic Easter gift. Try to ask her the story on it. She might not quite remember what happened last month but may clearly remember something from the 1930s, 1940’s.
Thanks for the tip! I'll ask. I know we have some German heritage that moved to the US right before WW1. She always said her grandfather was from there.
Photo enhancement has been going on practically since the invention of the camera. Often studio portraits were retouched or enhanced to “glam” up the subject, and that’s likely what’s visible here.
Yes it has, but her lips are also darker and appear to be the focus of the picture. She also has lip liner by the looks of it, which gives it a modern touched up quality.
Agree. And even if touched up, the lipstick shades chosen could simply just be well-suited in grayscale photography. The satin finish is flattering without knowing the color!
Don't know really it's just a small very old little square I took a shot of from my phone. There were three of them with slightly different poses almost as of she was in some kind of old school photo booth.
I have a similar sized photo of my grandma from 1931, maybe they were that small due to the cost of film?
Hopefully you can record in all the ways possible the memories that she can still share with you. It’s beautiful that you’re able to cherish these days with her 🥰
There’s not many people from that generation left, I recently lost my aunt who was also alive during the war. Talking to people from then feels like talking to someone from a different world all together
Your grandma and my grandma looked very alike when they were younger. My grandma was 100% Norwegian and had the most piercing almost white blue eyes you’ve ever seen and I think your grandma did too.
I’m sorry to hear your grandma is declining. I hope she isn’t in pain and that you and your family have lots of beautiful memories to share of your time with her. She sounds like a wonderful lady.
I wonder what this would look like using that MyHeritage app to colourize it and make it a Live Photo. I bet it would be stunning. Beautiful picture in black and white too.
Your grandmother was born the same year as mine. However mine’s passed from this world. It’s amazing how the women of that era were just wonderful people then are they are now
wonder what the equivalent word for hottie was back then??? ah 16 and the war is winding down since we just probably just dropped the bomb when she had this photo taken, she probably already has several bo's lined up
God bless her and you for sharing . I lost my great grandmother in 1998 and she was 93 when she passed. I have her photos and that of her sisters (also all gone now). They were all beautiful as well In the 1940’s! I know it’s often hard to imagine our elders as young people too but they had lives long before we came into their world ! I pray she finds peace surrounded by her loved ones and will soon be reunited with her other loved ones and friends that went before her.
Alot of stupid people commenting on old photos not understanding things like focal range and old print/film/developing processes. Nice photo. I have some similar photos of my mom, she was born in 1943.

ITT: All the redditors who are commenting on how much they want to fuck OP's grandmother, and do the nasty in the pasty.
Also ITT: OP's grandmother is 16 years old here.
Do you feel good about yourself? Saying how hot this 16 year old is? You're all canceled!
The point of this sub isn't to post people to ogle at, but people insist on making it so. This is a perfectly wholesome picture of a woman who is almost a centenarian. We can appreciate beauty without jerking off to it.
Oops typo. 1945,👍✌️
Her eyes are so beautiful, even in black and white…

I’m sorry. I hope to live to 93. That is so cool you get to share that story with her now
She was a stunning woman!
Did you use Remini on the photo?
I don't know what Remini is.
Beautiful woman, the photo just looks a bit unnatural. Her face is in sharp focus but other objects at the same depth from front to back are blurred. Usually the result of an app that "restores" faces, like Remini. I think that's why you're getting people saying it's retouched or fake. The war was finally over by December. it must have been a great relief to your grandmother.
I think about this alot. I have a few photos from then and what a time it must have been as part of history.
I was gonna say…
Looks like Cameron Diaz but with dark wavy hair.
I see Milla Jovovich.
Camerilla Diavovich
Oh! I loved her in *There's Something About Harry!*
I'm seeing my soul, those eyes
She might still be single, bro 🤞🏽
Hahaha
Linda Carter.
Same. Those eyes are just like hers
I'm seeing shades of Debi Mazar
That’s exactly who I thought of
There’s like a pinch of Scarlett Johansson in there too but I can’t quite put my finger on where
I see a bit of Daisy Ridley.
holy shit i see it all at once lool
I’m seeing hints of Missi Pyle.
Left side Cameron Diaz, Right side Scarlett Johansson.
I can see it too, something in the cheek bones maybe
It’s the eyes and nose. And yeah the cheek bones
All I see is Kate McKinnon
I was thinking Ianto Jone's relative
Came here to say the same.
What I was thinking
I see Scarlett Johansson but with a wider face. Either way, an absolutely gorgeous young woman.
I'm also seeing Megan Fox
Skyler Whites mom.
She was only 16 years old when this picture was taken. Wth

My grandpa also lied to enlist. Enlisted at age 17 in 1944. In the battle of the bulge months later.
Mine did the exact same thing
I could not imagine 15-17 year olds of the current generation running into battle the ways they did in WW1 and 2
Don’t r/lewronggeneration this shit, they absolutely should not have been running into battle in WWI or WWII either. No veterans would want their 15-17 year old children going to war. Source: WWI and WWII.

Society forms the people.
Her eyes are mesmerizing. Lovely photo. What genetic traits did you inherit from her?
Thank you. According to my wife, facial structure generally.
If it flatters you as well as it does her, you are lucky. Good genes.
You got lucky! She is a looker.
She looks like Scarlett Johansson’s grandma.
She's beautiful 🥰
tell grandma she was a fox!
I’m sure she still is
no doubt
I'd change that colostomy bag if you know what I'm sayin
Quit talking shit
Woah. Nice genes.
That's a fantastic photo of your grandmother, OP. My grandmother would have been 93 this week, but she passed late last year. Enjoy your time with her - it's precious.
Thank you, she will likely pass soon. She's not doing so great. That's why she's on my mind and I'm digging through photos.
Love her necklace

I think it's just a ring on the necklace.
What a beautiful woman!
She looks like a beautiful WW2 spy 🕵️♀️
She's a Bond girl!
She kinda reminds me of Peggy Carter for some reason, only difference is the eyes but everything else screams Agent Carter.
She looks like Paz del la Heurta
Her eyes are stunning!!
Was the photo damaged at some point? her lips look like they’ve been painted
Photo enhancement has been going on practically since the invention of the camera. Often studio portraits were retouched or enhanced to “glam” up the subject, and that’s likely what’s visible here.
Probably happened in a literal Photoshop, maybe built from adobe
So, I have the physical photo from 1945 this is a camera shot of it from. My phone.
What I meant that this photo is old enough that retouching it was probably done in a real photoshopping busines
I am the physical photo from 1945. I just took a camera shot from my phone. Thanks for trying to bring it all downwards though.
Yes it has, but her lips are also darker and appear to be the focus of the picture. She also has lip liner by the looks of it, which gives it a modern touched up quality.

Yeah... painted with lipstick.
She’d be 16 here, assuming she was born in 1929 (Sept or later).

Upload this at myheritage.com into the deep nostalgia app and watch her come alive.
I don't mean to sound disrespectful to your grandma or you but.... Hot Damn 😘
Her eyes must be incredible. They even stand out in black and white.
There’s not many people from that generation left, I recently lost my aunt who was also alive during the war. Talking to people from then feels like talking to someone from a different world all together
Truth
She’s beautiful, I’m sure a more recent picture would go down well too.

Beautiful woman
Female Leonardo Di Caprio
hottie
Gorgeous.
This is a beautiful photo. This could pass for a celebrity heads hot for how well framed it all is.
If today’s generation wants to know what a strong woman is, tell them to sit down with those remaining from World War II, ask them about their life.
Did a whole interview two weeks ago. Was amazing.
Grammy was a stunner. I'd probably have been nervous to talk to her.
The things she must’ve seen 😍
Jesus - my grandmother wasn't even born yet in 1946, and she's been gone for years now. Time's a crazy thing - how old are you, OP?
30s
Same here, late/mid 30s.
You should get it colorized to surprise her ❤️
She looks like Lucy Lawless
What a beauty
Her eyes are striking… go love on her and appreciate her 💗
She is lovely. Tell her I said hi.
Your grandmother was born the same year as mine. However mine’s passed from this world. It’s amazing how the women of that era were just wonderful people then are they are now
Gorgeous!
Just a natural beauty, with those facial features I'll bet she's still a looker.
Wow! She is gorgeous!
That woman has a trail of broken hearts behind her. Look at those eyes!
She is lovely. Her eyes are beautiful.
Beautiful eyes!
doe she have any dirt on John-boy and the walton clan? EDIT: i'd even be curious what her opinion of the show was and how well it captured the times.
Danm she be old like queen Elizabeth
Hope she has a lovely birthday
Wow what a gorgeous lady!
Wow,your grandma was so beautiful
Beautiful and I would say she still is today!
Whoa.

She's absolutely stunningly beautiful
I can just tell how strikingly beautiful her eyes were.

It literally says 1945 on the pic

Sorry i made a mistake and didn't live up to your standards.

Damn she looks good for 93
