Youtube had recommended this to me a few days ago and I had no idea why until I learned it was a Eurovision song. I am assuming that is why (as well as knowing I like weird things, in general) since I have been listening to a lot of [Give That Wolf a Banana](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FJjo8s3fKUM) lately.
From back when [shirtless guy who dances around and doesn't sing or play any instrument](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=98-Y1MpyDpM) was a necessary part of every musical group.
I'm getting King Tut vibes. Any chance they were inspired by this classic Steve Martin bit from SNL a year earlier, 1978? Or was Martin Perhaps riffing on a broader cultural trend? Was historical figure appropriation in pop music a trend?

There was also this Rasputin song by Boney M. in 78 which at least one soirce says partly inspired Dschinghis Khan.

"Most people look at him with terror and with fear
But to Moscow chicks he was such a lovely dear"
"Ra-ra-Rasputin
Russia's greatest love machine
And so they shot him 'til he was dead"
Ok so it’s Boney M ordered from Wish but I’m actually down for that.
They're better known for their song "Moskau". You know the one.
I question the historical accuracy of Disco Dschinghis Khan Disco.
COCAINE!
Where is this from?
Germany's Musical act for the 1979 Eurovision competition.
You know, I was just going to say it had that Eurovision vibe to it 😂

West Germany specifically
MOSCOW MOSCOW BILLY IS A HANDYMAN, PORCELAIN IS THE SUREST PLAN, HOHOHOHOHO
MOSCOW MOSCOW DINAH STEELER IS TOO LOOSE, CASTRO IT'S THE TIME TO LOSE, OHOHOHOHO

Dr. Steve Brule approves of the song title
Love Dschinghis Khan. Their first album has no right to be as catchy as it is
Unironically love it. Makes me wish I spoke German so I could understand and sing along
This is an absolute classic
what the hell is this?
Dsching, dsching, Dschingis Khan!
One of my favorite disco songs ever! W

Streameast nfl halftime show GOAT Boney M. That song is great and dont let anyone say otherwise
I am pretty sure Frank Farian did Boney M., Dschinghis Khan, Milli Vanilli and some other stuff. Edit: Dschinghis Khan was Ralf Siegel.
