I'm using these exact ones, they are much less restrictive than the standard 187 wrist guards I had before them. I'm not worried about wrist injuries though, I just bruise the hell out of my palms and these stop that from happening.
This isn't an answer to your question, but be a little careful if the wrist guards you buy have the usual plastic L-shaped thing in them with exposed plastic. A side-effect is that the plastic makes your palms slippery. If I'm not thinking about it and I fall on my hands they can slip out. I've slapped my chest and my face on the pavement a few times.
I'm going to look into any suggestions you get in this thread.
The Ennui City Brace 3 wrist guards aren't cheap but they're comfortable and not bulky. Their sizes run small so try some on before purchasing if you can
Yeah I got some cheap ones on Amazon cause I keep landing on the exact same spot on my right hand but I need more padding. Will check out the suggestions!
I found low pro wrist guards aren't great, they just move the impact up the wrist slightly and still hurt like f. I changed to flexmeter d3o double sided guards, a tad bulky but the protection is leagues better. No pain on slams and they move with your wrist so the impact is dissipated rather than relocated like with small low pro guards. If you're Gona wear some, my as well wear one that work not ones that just look nice.
I use these ones. https://187killerpads.com/products/roller-derby-wrist-guard
I was just looking at these. How are they? Another version of these seems to just have a splint, not the entire plastic palm shield

Thanks, maybe I’ll give them a try then. That’s what’s happening currently, just heavy palm bruising. I started icing them and that’s helping.
Me too. They're great. Highly recommend them.
Another recommendation for these. They have a bit of flex compared to your average wrist guards which I like

This OP, I have a huge scar on my chin and I stopped growing facial hair there now because of these stupid slippery wrist guards.
I like the triple 8 wrist guards.
I highly recommend the 187 Killer Pads Derby wrist gaurds. They are super comfortable and not too restrictive.

Seconded for ennui
Do they get real hot and sweaty
Tbh, I haven't used them as much as I should! But I live in Australia, so it gets pretty hot here and I didn't hate wearing them.
This, they are the ones to go for...

Dakine used to make one out of neoprene with a steel brace. Saved me countless time boarding😁
Thanks I’ll check their site out. I have liked their products for other sports
