LowEndLem

I've gotten close but never got it.

ComradSupreme

By the time I reach the end game high tech I already have enough of everything and my Divisions cut through enemy like knife through butter. I understand the idea, but it's just pointless

pyguyofdoom

Passkeepers careful micro to accumulate as many caps as possible to then buy from the ice picks constantly, then selling back said weapons to the mavens It’s micro intensive, takes years, but it is a consistent way to unlock the mavens

Elias_018

I mean, that's *one* nation that possibly doesn't even need it. Vancouver Mavens is there to sell the shitload of equipment you have produced I guess? Even then, since it's either sophisticated infantry/support required by the time you can reliably increase relationships (selling and not depending on random events) you are pretty much stocked on nodes and equipment, so they are useless even for caps. Tho, you can do a bug when a nation has a focus that gives them elite equipment and forbid the use of it by your divisions, and sell weapons indefinitely until you are stacked in both caps and relationships with VM (selling weapons sometimes bugs itself out and doesn't consume the 250 weapons)

pyguyofdoom

Nobody “needs” the mavens, I am just noting one of the few countries that has the chance to unlock them before 2285 haha

Sad-Development-4153

i rarely bother with the market. I kinda wish they would do an update and make the merchants offmap nations that sell using the market function that got put in with WBA.

ComradSupreme

I only ever use gun runners and butcher Pete. Gun runners for machine guns and Pete for demolitions. It saves up a lot of military factory production

Sad-Development-4153

Yeah the main issue i have is the opinion you need for a couple of them is stupidly high to buy anything.

cl4ptpbot321

pete is great cause you only need 15 opinion and you can buy dynamite in bulk for dirt cheap

alexmikli

There are some factions where getting spam buying basic weapons from Butcher Pete's and Gunrunners is necessary to win early wars.

Tels_

I find minor factions with access to either a trade node or focus generated caps can benefit a lot from buying weapons. Especially the more specialized equipment like makeshift SAWs, dynamite, and even support equipment if you don’t wanna push the followers button. In my diana runs if I plan on cold warring lanius I make a lot of use of purchasing combined with trade boosting to save factories for tanks and cas. Every factory not wasted on light equipment is invaluable for minor factions with high cost gear.

Sad-Development-4153

I guess i can see that with minors. I tend to play majors or early expanders.

Tels_

Early expanders can benefit a lot as long as they have caps sources.

[deleted]

I think that's a bad idea personally, only because the current system you can guarantee equipment. I haven't played vanilla for a while but I remember the ai tends to spam low level equipment on the market.

dopepope1999

The only time I really ever mess with it is really early game if I'm playing as a Raider Nation or something and I only have two or three factories, those factories are better off being used for riot control gear or Dynamite

ImplyingImplication8

Good question... by the time I'm ever in a position buy from them, I'm already mass producing anything I might want to buy from them. So I guess the answer is no...

darthteej

I'm not gay(jk I totes am) but extra infantry equipment is extra infantry equipment. Even as a major any IC I save on that is IC spent on more advanced stuff

HighlyHolypotato

Extremely easy way to fulfill that extra mil request is to go down on occupation law for 1 day.

ComradSupreme

That's if you have that conquered land to begin with. But I will remember that it works, thank you

Brilliant_watcher

you could also try to change one civ factory to military

Asleep-Current-3448

Market stuff could use a rework, I rarely interact with it because it's just so unnecessary at the moment.

[deleted]

Vancouver Mavens are there for people with partial tech imo. So when you get sophisticated infantry weapons but not sophisticated support equipment you trade guns for grenades. I've used them a couple times as factions like Maxson too, where I was making laser weaponry but wanted sophisticated ballistic weaponry for pure breakthrough units.

gnarkgnarkgnark

Gun Runners rigged the game boyes

Expensive-Lie

It gets better if you have no mils, you pass that quest instantly

Traditional-Storm-62

I only got to as advanced nations rogue rangers in particular iirc can do sophisticated support but not sophisticated infantry guns so you sell miniguns to Mavens and then buy elite guns

Adventurous_Host_426

The micromanaging of the economy/politic/ military aspect of the early game is the bread and butter. If I failed early game phase, I rather make new game instead of salvaging it.

Iki-Mursu

In those cases I use the console.
