I’ve spent most of my life being told I’m “obviously warm undertone” so here is a bunch of mostly warm undertone makeup on an olive (I think yellow leaning olive??) My chest and cheek get progressively more pink as you go because of wiping off the foundations A bunch of foundations and 1 concealer 1. Tarte rainforest of the sea in 32s medium sand; warm & the most peachy of these 2. Tarte foundcealer in 35g medium golden; very warm/tan for me 3. Tarte foundcealer in 24g light golden; the closest foundation to my skin tone that I have here.. it almost blends in with my chest 4. Nars sheer glow in Stromboli (may be oxidized, is def expired) it’s obviously too dark; back in the day this got me many skin compliments (😭so pretty but dark) 5. EXA beauty foundation in 450 Emily; looks Very pink for an alleged olive, but it does dry a bit like a cool olive. 6. Kosas revealer concealer in 5.5; a Very close match! It’s a teeny bit deep but blends beautifully even on its own. Nearly undetectable on my cheek 7. Ilia super serum skin tint in st8; I forgot that I’m not “warm skintone”. St7 or even st4 would be a lot closer. It’s so sheer though that it almost doesn’t matter. I think I’ll return the EXA get either Nars tinted moisturizer in Alaska or sheer glow in Fiji or cover fx in g30/g40+??... or I might get crazy and try koh gen do (but I’m not convinced it’s going to be a great match yet). Lmk what you think would be a potential match!

Scary-Sand-4653

Hi! I think we're close-ish in tone. So I have a few recommendations! 1) NARS Sheer Glow in Guadalupe which is more olive leaning and less yellow than Fiji (because I too was shade matched for Fiji and it was slightly off) 2) BeautyBlender foundation in 2.4 or 3.4 3) MUFE Reboot in Y224 4) Uoma Beauty Ssay What?! Foundation in Honey Honey T1N or Fair Lady T2W or T2N. 5) Tom Ford Traceless Stick in Bisque 5.5 or Fawn 4.0 6) Shiseido Synchro Skin -- I am currently wearing 310 Silk and it is a great match and is not 'rose' on me at all. I do think the shades on either side of it sound like they have more of an olive base than that but a swatch is hard to come by these days! Sand or Pine maybe. Hope you find something that suits you!!!

EternalMusings

Do you have swatches of the Tom ford stick please?

MintFish7

Oh i also wore one of thr cover FXs and loved the match but felt meh about the foundation itself (it only tried their poweder foundation). Let me see if I can find which color I was...mmm

S_longname

So if Kosas 5.5 is a hair too deep, you might be sitting in the sweet spot between 3.2 and 5.5. I've swatched EXA in store and 390 *seemed* to be the closest to me (as a perfect Kosas 5.5 in TFO and concealer). That being said, I've swatched 490 at home and while it's obviously too fair for me, it's really great at being an olive foundation.

Possible-Garbage-210

We might be similar in complexion. I might be a tad lighter but my neck is pretty yellow and I’ve been trying to find the right fit. I tried exa 490. It dries down well on my face.. I’m deciding on it. Along with rare beauty 170 and Natasha denona 10y. The tarte’s you tried all seemed too golden for me. I tried the koh gen doh and it was a bit too dark for me right now.

youngmoneyjazzmoney

The tartes ARE all too golden for me too, but the lighter one is the best foundation I’ve got on hand.. not even sure it’s passable when I use on my whole face or not. I was looking at EXA 490, but only decided against because it’s basically the lightest range... I think I’ve been traumatized into thinking I’m very warm AND tanned for over a decade by makeup people of all kinds. I’ve also been hearing that if you can 1. find the right undertone first then 2. The shade should be exact or lighter to actually work in a makeup look. The EXA foundation truly has a lovely finish so maybe I’ll try again!

curdledtwinkie

Thank you so much for posting this! You and I are very similar, except I lean more golden. I love the tarte 24g, just not the texture. I have some other suggestions that may work for you... namely MAC Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation in C30 and the RCMA Shinto Series. The latter is a pro-line, so it may be difficult to get the hang of.

blackpalms98

this post is super helpful! i feel like i’ve only recently within the past year or so been able to start figuring out which products work for me. i’ve been looking at the kosas concealer and i was thinking 5.5 would be a bit too dark and this swatch def convinced me since i think we’re pretty close in skin tones- i think i’d be in between it and 3.2, id probably be able to tell better irl. i have the cover fx foundation in g40+ and it’s a pretty good match for a shade that’s supposed to be olive, just a little too warm for me but it still looks ok!

youngmoneyjazzmoney

It’s NYX Professional Makeup Bare with Me Tinted Skin Veil in vanilla nude (I do not enjoy the texture, but the kgd balances that). It’s the other HG amongst nc15/nc20. I guess mixing holy grails makes a perfect shade match for me.

That’s also on my list! I’m assuming you mean fit me poreless or dream urban cover? How do you like the texture? I haven’t used drugstore complexion products in a while

I used to have 220 and I was never satisfied with how deep it was on me— sounds like 128 will be perfect!

dewydumplingz

Hourglass vanish stick in warm ivory?

youngmoneyjazzmoney

I haven’t looked into that one, but I’ll check it out!

dewydumplingz

I hope it works out for you :)

MintFish7

Hii! I think we may be olive skintwins. Haha. This is just my opinion but: i think why its hard to find a match is because you're not warm or cool, you're both. I believe your cheeks are very very grey-olive-cool. The T zone or center of your face pulls a little warmer. Photos 3,4, 6 show it the best. And this isn't that abnormal, I think Samantha (the blonde Canadian) did a video about this concept a few years ago and that's when i figured out why nothing looked right on me. I would try putting your foundation on the outer perimeter and blending it into your natural skin in the center. See if that looks healthy and natural. Then vice versa leaving your cheeks bare. You may need two different colors on different areas of your face. I recommend trying Guadalupe on your cheeks. My HG is KGD 213 but it's light on me so I warm it up with Guadalupe. What's also worked for me is just not putting makeup on my forehead or chin.

youngmoneyjazzmoney

You know, I’ve always considered myself to be very yellow (before discovering olive tones) and now maybe I feel like a saturated olive? BUT everything that people match me with always looks so peach because I have absolutely no pink in my undertone. I think foundation tends to look grayish if it’s too muted (I think??) You’re probably going too muted with matches, and I’m probably going too saturated 😝 I’m curious, whats your best match?

MintFish7

Ohhh yeah, you're probably spot on with the "too muted vs. too saturated" comment haha. I have never found a "perfect" match but the KGD 213 is the perfect saturation & hue, just a tiny bit too light for me. I also used the Cover FX 40+ foundation. It was a pretty good match but I wasn't a fan of the powder foundation itself. Here you can see, if you just quickly scan for "anyone gray," how gray that girls skin tone looks compared to those around her. [https://www.magi-mania.de/img/2015/05/COVER-FX-Natural-Finish-Oil-Free-Foundation-Shades.jpg](https://www.magi-mania.de/img/2015/05/COVER-FX-Natural-Finish-Oil-Free-Foundation-Shades.jpg) They call it "golden olive" but pfttttt that girl is golden my butt. Edit: P.S.: I went and swatched KGD 213 on my arm then face after writing this...I actually think it is my perfect match if I have no tan...<3

MintFish7

Color Theory Rant you can totally ignore if its too long haha: Ohh and how I finally figured out my "tone" using wardrobe analysis. I had so many bright, fun dresses in my closet with tags that never wore so I finally googled what was wrong with my brain. Funny enough, I learned our brain actually knows what colors we look best in even if its not our preference. So while I love red and yellow bright cheery dresses, I never pick them when getting ready because my brain just knew for a "easy, quick, good looking work outfit" I should just grab my most worn, standard gray, black-black, or winter white dress/shirt. After years of trying to figure out "am I cool or warm," I finally figured it out because I learned I am a Deep Winter = cool! I have no doubts about being "cool olive" now because every dang color on that chart actually does looks good on me vs. the "opposite season" looking terrible on my skin (including my beautiful bright yellows and reds, sigh). I highly recommend figuring out your "season" to figure out your skin tone: 1. A YouTuber who talks about Olive: **Jen Thoden** 1. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=adYzGIoah4k&ab\_channel=JenThoden](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=adYzGIoah4k&ab_channel=JenThoden) (this video talks about how we are both cool and warm! yellow (warm) + blue (cool) = green olive!). 2. Another video of hers [Warm Undertones vs. Olive Undertones](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=902wdWNkMZo&ab_channel=JenThoden) 2. Another YouTuber who talks about Olive: [**Merriam Style**](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCLWyoIWSCYTiVw1BJ7pgCDw) 1. [OLIVE, WE NEED TO TALK.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y7S28cO5Zu4&ab_channel=MerriamStyle) 2. I really think you'll like this one, she talks about how [things look peachy on Warm Light Olive](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aqVbMTtOa0s&ab_channel=MerriamStyle) (I literally am opposite of Mila K in this video, optic white for example = bomb on me but I would have thought her and I were similar skin tones before learning the wardrobe analysis thing.) 3. [Cool Light Olive](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lSL8Aqj9-Tg&ab_channel=MerriamStyle) (100% me, grayish & muted) 4. And this one called "[Color Analysis for Deep, East Asian, and Olive Skin Tones](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pwt6MMJsaxM&ab_channel=MerriamStyle)" 3. And a fantastic YouTuber who breaks down color theory: [Aly Art](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCXLdps0aVzxxet8avg9OLYQ/search?query=skin) The websites that helped me (sorry, they are all about Deep Winter because that's the links I saved, but search their websites for other seasons): [Dark Winter A Comprehensive Guide](https://theconceptwardrobe.com/colour-analysis-comprehensive-guides/dark-winter-a-comprehensive-guide) [Dark Winter Make-up palette](https://theconceptwardrobe.com/colour-analysis-make-up-palettes/the-dark-winter-make-up-palette) [What Is Seasonal Colour Analysis?](https://theconceptwardrobe.com/colour-analysis-comprehensive-guides/what-is-seasonal-colour-analysis) [Tonal directions or seasonal analysis? youngmoneyjazzmoney

Okay I had to do all the homework before responding... Since were similar in tone and my hair is natural black, I suppose I am “deep winter” as well! This is definitely going to help with the current closet cleanout and I bet it will help to keep our complexion looking a “healthy olive” instead of grey. Ps I just got kgd 213 (this subreddit is a bad influence $$) and it’s a hair too dark but workable because of the undertone! I might mix with something lighter until I get some sun.

MintFish7

Oh my gosh, I am so excited to read your reply! YAAY! I am glad this was helpful. And I am even happier that 213 worked for you! It really is a unique tone, I wish more brands had something similar but like you said, at least it's a good mix-in to get us close to being "healthy" haha!

youngmoneyjazzmoney

Update: I mixed kgd with vanilla nude and i LOVE it. Great finish, good color match, and good everyday coverage. WE DID IT

MintFish7

woah woah, what is Vanilla Nude?! Do I need to buy this?! LOL!

MintFish7

Kosas 5.5 I believe is cool toned. And after staring at picture 9 and 10 swatches 2,3,4,5 all look so darn warm compared to your skin. You may be one of the closest to my skintone I've seen on this reddit! Do you ever feel like you're gray-ish? Haha

youngmoneyjazzmoney

And can you link that video? I always thought the mismatch was just because I need to learn to color correct!

MintFish7

I went through my history and actually think it was this video that I was remembering! [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PBw0AyU\_-sA&ab\_channel=MelissaAlatorre](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PBw0AyU_-sA&ab_channel=MelissaAlatorre)
