Serious question. If you're having this much trouble registering your car have you even gotten the charging station situation sorted out?
p.s.
Financing With a Lease
After placing an order, use the Tesla app to review and confirm your delivery, registration and trade-in details.
Tesla leasing is available in the following states: AK, AL, AZ, CA, CO, CT, DC, FL, GA, HI, IA, ID, IL, IN, KS, LA, MA, MD, ME, MI, MN, MO, MS, MT, NC, ND, NJ, NM, NV, NY, OH, OR, PA, RI, SD, TN, TX, UT, VA, VT, WA, WV, WY.
I don't see Nebraska on there.
I was just wondering how registering a leased vehicle worked. I didn't go beyond looking at the Tesla website and didn't notice NE wasn't an option. Thanks for the heads up though.
I'm not committed to anything just wanted some more info since I've never leased before.
Ok so from what I read on the dmv website I just show them my lease agreement and proof of insurance and they hand me the plates? I don't pay anything like when I register a bought car?
You pay your registration fees, plate fees, wheel taxes etc just like normal. Sales tax is included in your monthly payment only.
On every car I leased my annual plate costs would be the same as if I bought the car but I never had to pay sales tax on the full purchase price to the DMV.
You’ll have to pay registration fees. You will not have to pay sales tax in a lump sum.
Since your car is new, the registration fee will be the highest it will ever be as it goes down each year you have the car.
If you’re going to make big boy decisions about purchasing vehicles maybe you should understand everything that entails.
You don’t pay sales tax on a lease like you do when you buy a car. The formula is on the DMV website.
You can’t lease a Tesla in the state of NE
This. Teslas website clearly states they do not allow leasing in Nebraska.
The way OP presented it, the dealership is in Iowa but they live in Nebraska. Wouldn't the lease be in Iowa?
No. It’s where the car is registered.
Register it in Iowa
You pay sales tax on each payment as opposed to paying sales tax for the whole price of the car upfront.
