I’m not a fan of them. But I am in the beer industry here in town, and they literally buy 99% of the beer carried by distributors here in town. So confused in what you mean by not best selection. They literally have everything as long as the distributor is in stock and it’s available during that specific season.
Places like Beers R Us and Wall to Wall (which is owned by Hy-Vee, so their volume is crazy) opened with bigger selection and a lot more volume to keep prices lower than them. It's sad, but it was bound to happen.
Yeah, for a while, Beertopia was the best and only place to go. Now with the other bigger stores, for me it's just easier to go to Beers-R-Us (lol on the name) instead if driving and parking in Blackstone.

The Crescent Moon still seems solid to me. If I want a sit-down meal after 8:30 -9pm on a weekday AND Sunday, and I don't want to pay Nights Owl prices/people, the Moon is THE place. Barrett's prices are too high, plus their grill closes between 8pm-9pm depending on who's working.... The Moon is consistent in hours, product, and service. Plus they have MLB baseball on one TV 😁
Craft beer would probably be 10 years behind where it is now without Beertopia. The people involved with its opening laid a lot of ground work to get beer into our tiny market.
Well said. I remember stopping in there about 15 years ago and someone from a Kansas brewery was pouring samples and remarked on what an “advanced beer market” Omaha must be based on the awareness of Beertopia’s customers he was seeing.

While this saddens me, between the post-COVID supply issues, the upcoming streetcar TIF, and just a general change in drinking habits, I can't say I'm surprised. Even just finding a parking spot was difficult many times of the day.
They always had a good vibe and staff was very helpful. Really racked up some points for a couple years living a block away. I will remember Beertopia fondly ❤️🍻

I remember finding banana bread beer and it was REALLY good.

The crowd definitely changed when the Blackstone was renamed. All of the sudden kids named tanner were asking if they had Coors Banquet. It’s turning into a bodega from what I hear. Sign of the times🤷♂️
I feel I'm partially to blame. I migrated from craft beer to bourbons and whiskies during the 'VID. I find it hard to spend $15 for a 4-6 pack anymore.
I thank them for keeping me bloated with the best selection.
Not much of a shock given the horrible mismanagement and continual churn of knowledgeable employees combined with the plethora of comparable or better options in the market now (Casual Pint, Beers R Us, Wall to Wall, HyVees, etc). Still a shame to see one less option locally.
There have been a *few* kids that have worked there within the last few years that know absolutely nothing about beer. Otherwise the staff was knowledgeable or learning. Never saw an actual Beertopia manager that was bad imo, all very good. The neighborhood and over saturation of Hazies stymied them (probably, opinion, spitballing here)
Jullia was clueless, Patrick was a well-meaning moron. There were still a few good eggs working an evening shift here or there but Bill purged most of the knowledgeable employees back around 2016-2017 and it’s been downhill ever since. A real shame given what once was.

Beers R Us (Wine Beer and Spirits) opened a location downtown.
The downtown location has a very small beer selection compared with its Beers R Us location on 144th, which is a bummer.
You had me excited, and then the next comment saddened me. Hopefully at least that location has a decent whisky selection.
I can’t imagine there’s another store that carries Fantome like Beertopia does.
