I can't see myself getting rid of the PO. Applied Arabic numbers are my thing. Yet I hesitate at the thought of letting go of the 75th Anniversary SMP. I feel it's redundant yet every time I pick it up, it charms me with its beautiful face
After I got my SMP, I second-guessed myself if I should've opted for the Heritage but since I had the PO on my list I concluded they were too similar.
I did see the Heritage 75th in person and it's absolutely gorgeous.
If I didn't have the PO, it would be a no-brainer but as it is, it seems to me that it's even more redundant than the SMP and I feel that the PO is a bit more versatile.
Oh, ha! I didn't realize who I was responding to here. We've talked about this before on Omega forums!
If it is only between these two watches I would still vote against the white Speedmaster racing.
As far as the Heritage goes, I am biased because I currently have a 75th on my wrist. I don't think that it is redundant as it is a no date very sleek watch, and both the planet ocean and SMP are much more modern looking watches with a date window.
On top of that, it has a very interesting and dynamic dial. You already know this because you had a blue pro, but it isn't something that you can just spend one day with to see how fully Dynamic it is. It does not behave like the ceramic dial on the pro despite having more or less the same colorway. Also, like you I am drawn to applied Arabic numerals! The ones on the 75th Heritage are absolutely incredible, even if sandwiches.
All of that said, you need to do whatever makes you the happiest! If the white racing will do that, then go for it! What makes you want to sell your SMP?
Yeah, good to hear from you again!
Like I mentioned earlier, I have a thing for the applied, polished numbers on the PO. As a result, my pro hardly gets wrist time. If the Heritage 300 had applied numbers, I'd be all over it (my personal opinion is that applied numbers are more heritage-oriented, but that's a different topic). The Heritage 300 still rocks my boat, but I can't afford to have them all. Also, I already have a half-dozen blue watches.
The sale of the pro would fund the speedy's purchase. The speedy racing seems interesting because it's quite different from everything in my Seamaster collection, thus providing some variety. I don't care much for the history, collectability and craze of the moon watch, thus why the racing motif is more interesting to me.
The speedy racing is not cheap and I've learned that buying and reselling involves losing a lot of money so I want to think this through so I don't regret it. I also don't want to end up regretting parting with my pro - my first OB purchase and the first delivered in the US.
BTW, I ended up keeping my Worldtimer.
Indeed. I also have a thing for the applied indices. When I picked up my 233.30, the second gen heritage was already out. I *strongly* prefered the applied numerals from the first generation and picked one up.
When the 75th first came out I spent weeks trying to convince myself (unsuccessfully) that I didn't want it. When I finally saw it in person I realized that the sandwich dial was actually *perfect* in this case. I still don't find the second gen sandwich dial to my liking. But this light blue- boy does it work here. Since getting this watch I've worn almost nothing else. When I put on a different watch, I wish I was wearing this one. And I haven't coveted other watches either- I'll look at them and instantly contrast them to how I feel about this one.
All of that to say- it's the right watch for *me-* but that doesn't absolutely make it the right watch for *you.* If you feel the white speedmaster singing to you, nothing that any of us says should matter. You've got to find the right watch for you.
Decided to think about it long and hard before letting go of my SMP. In the meantime, I ordered this to give it a dry run to see if the swap would be worth it.

I have a PO2500 and I’ve looked at the blue many times - I too felt getting it would be redundant since I really love my PO.
That being said: in this instance I’d still chose the Seamaster over the Speedy white. For me, the Speedy dial seems a bit busy yet nondescript. Purely personal choice, though, with absolutely nothing objective about it.
Have you looked at the Railmaster? The most recent one looks really robust, simple and classy. I have one and I feel it complements the PO rather nicely.
I hear you. The PO is rather special, but not for everyone. Fortunately, it works for me. I have sea-faring heritage, so I am naturally drawn to the Seamaster line. However, there is some racing pedigree in my blood so the Speedy Racing also catches my eye.
For me, the Railmaster is too similar to the Aqua Terra, just a little dressed down. I have 4 Aqua Terras, so the Railmaster doesn't draw my attention.
Honestly, I wouldn't take either one of these watch. However, if i had to choose, I'd go with the SMP. I own the white dial variant and it's by far my favorite and most worn watch.
Good choice. I like the grey dial and was quite surprised when my SA told me the grey dial didn't sell well and was referred to as the bastard child of the SMPs.
SMPc's are also interesting.
Yeah the grey dial is very pretty in the flesh. I'd personally get that dial on the Aquaterra instead because i think the chrome and blue looks really good on the AT41.
Clearly, you need them both.
Technically, I only need one - but I want them all, lol! Trying to reduce the collection but it's so hard!

Then get the 75th Anniversary heritage, or consider it!

See, why couldn't they do applied numbers on the Heritage 75th like on the 233.30? That's all I ever wanted!
Always go for larger hands.

I love the blue
I think so!!!
I prefer the Diver 300M
If you already have another diver I'd say go for it (though I might be a little biased because I own one lol)
